So, I have somehow replaced the stock recovery on my tablet xolo tw800 running 4.1.1 JB. I have downloaded the stock rom to reflash the recovery.img through flashify. But I found out that they don't provide recovery.img in the rom rather recovery folder and it just contains another folder named 'etc' which finally has a file named install-recovery.sh. So this is useless for me now. Though my tablet is booting normally but I am afraid It will become useless even on a minor problem like bootloop, so please help me out, for those who have. This tablet please google how to backup recovery and provide me with that backup. Thanks. HELP SOMEONE PLEASE!
solution
Bro download the stock ROM from androidxda and place the update.zip in the SD card(internal)and go to about device and click software update then confirm the .zip and click countine, everything is back to stock.hope it helped

Hey all. My phone stopped working a while back and I'm going to send it in for repairs. However, I'm not in stock recovery at the moment.
For reasons explained in the link above, I'm looking specifically for the recovery.img or an update.zip containing the stock recovery. I can't flash the OTA package with the recovery since it fails to find the /system folder and stops at that point. The OTA package contains a recovery but it doesn't contain a recovery.img.
I haven't been able to find the file on the internet and I was hoping someone could either link the file, or create it from their stock image.
Thanks for the help!
EDIT: Sent the phone back and flashed it with the ICS versions of everything I could flash.

You say you're not able to flash the OTA package? Are you sure you're flashing a full OTA and not an update?
Make sure your CWM recovery is up to date too. Latest version is 5.0.2.0 for the non touch version.
OTA Updates will not work. The OTA packages linked in the general forum have the recovery in the form of a "recovery-from-boot.p" file and a "install-recovery.sh" file. The OTA package fails to flash because /system and /data do not get mounted.

I would advise against restoring stock recovery via CWM What is it you need the stock one for? You can get the stock one back but if you plan to keep root or get root CWM atm is only way to get it so in the end CWM will need to be put back on if you need root.... But what are you trying to do?
Read dev thread, the answer is there if you want it.

Why don't you just flash 4.1.1 w/Odin? You seem to be going out of your way to make it harder than it should be. Don't know what else to tell you.

My work around for this is the leave the stock recovery, a little pain each time I need to use CWM, but with Triangle away and stock I get OTA updates.
You don,t understand me !
I mean cwm do not allow me to flash update.zip so i want a stock recovery file...
You dont understand them. Flash a stock rom using odin. Or better yet, flash the stock rom you wanted in the first place using odin. If you have cwm right now its likely you are rooted correct? If you are, have you deleted any system apps? If you have the update wouldn't go through anyway. If you are on a custom rom it won't go through anyway. Just use odin and be done with it.

What is the stock version OS for this? I seem to find many answers. Some places list it as 4.0.3, and others list it as 4.0.x or 4.0.?...
Last night I made the horrible choice to update the OS from the stock. Something I had been putting off for months. After I updated it, the system said I had 4.0.3, and there were noticeable changes (the sound that plays when booting up, the infamous 'water drop' sound, the horrible white-washing of the keyboard and sound controls, etc.) Before I decide to try this ROM/Root-ing stuff, I decided to keep updating and see if there were new changes that updated the things I didn't like. No luck. All the things I hate are still present... Current version as reported by the tablet "About device" in settings says 4.1.1 with Kernel 3.0.31-523998 and Build number JRO03C.P5113UECLK7.
I am interested in trying the ROM/Root-ing. But I can't find a solid reference to what version of ICS this came with (unit was purchased in July 2012). The box and every other printed document I could find simply says "Adroid 4.0" or "ICS 4.0", and does not tell me if it is 4.0.3 or 4.0.x or whatever.
I want my normal bootup sound to play. I want these white-washed keyboards and other controls out of here! And for the love of anything, this water drop sound needs to take a dirt nap.
I suppose I would also be happy with anyone who can tell me how to get back the normal dark keyboard and other visuals and/or change the water drop sound back to the simple 'click' that was there before. Although I have already searched for this option and I have not come across these solutions (outside of ROMing and changing the .ogg files around).
ANY help or directions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance,
capnflummox
The samsung keyboard is the same in all stock firmware for p51xx.
Stock firmware can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704668
If you have root and su, bring up a shell and execute
# sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
That should restore the stock recovery from the backup partition (the active recovery is in /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 and the backup is installed on p5).
(That normally gets invoked by init.rc at each boot, but CWM marks it as no-execute to keep it from running.)
Almost what I need I think

So this is if you have root, etc. I have a GT-P5113 from a friend. It tried to update and got hung like so many others. My question is, at the fail screen, what do I do to be able to get into Recovery or download mode so I can get this tablet back to life? I have tried everything I can find on the subject...not a lot out there for my situation. Please help!
Thanks

thanks very much that method works and i learned something in the process:good::good::good::good::good:
I hope this question is not redundant, but I want to know if I should consider my tablet as an 8013 which it was,or as an 8000 with the gnabo rom v6,when I go to certain websites its identified as gt-8000, others see it as gt-8013, I installed initially with cwm recovery and rom was installed only, Cwm would not install KK kernal or su zip or anything else so I uninstalled Cwm and installed Twrp with 8013 zip, I then finished flashing rest of rom package then wifi fix later, all is ok except what I can see of sd card= all files were empty except the downloaded file folder, When I use flashify it doesnt show boot image and when I touch recovery it asks if I want to d/l TWRP when I already have TWRP and working? 1. Should I use twrp for 8013 or8000 2.Should I be concerned about all files being empty? Also when going to KK4.43, are you limited as to access to sd card? Thanks to any and all for any help offered. By the way,I do really like the rom, very nice!!! JW
I'm wondering this myself.
If the leaked firmware is flashed does it permanently change the device? And secondly if I flash from Hyperdrive 4.1.2 to Gnabo V6 is it possible to restore the Hyperdrive rom?
Thanks for any help
Hi, I have a moto g x1032 with TWRP as a custom recovery and I have installed an unofficial CM 12 rom. I made a nandroid backup with TWRP before flashing CM 12 and I want to restore my device back to the stock motorola firmware because I have some battery issues with the custom rom and the Lollipop OTA update is coming soon anyway.
Here's my issue : I saved the nandroid backup on my computer and I just copied it back on my internal storage in the TWRP folder, but when I boot in TWRP and go to restore I can't see my backup. :/
I think I made a mistake because I renamed the folder to Android/BACKUPS/Moto g/2014-11-27--06-21-08 KXB21.14-L1.40 and I suppose TWRP only recognizes the original folder name (can't find the original name anywhere).
Can someone confirm the issue comes indeed from there, and if so, tell me the name of this stupid folder ?
Thanks

Hey mate,
To get the ota you'll need stock recovery so it would be best to just flash a stock zip and stock recovery
But to answer your question, on my moto 1032..the folder is ..... TWRP/BACKUPS/TA93008Q52
Thanks, I made a small nandroid backup of just my boot partition to get the number, changed the name of the file and it worked.
I didn't know that I had to go back to stock recovery for the update, is there any way to do that without wiping the data ?

Yes, however you'll have to revert all system modifications you made to the ROM (Root, Xposed, e.t.c.)

The ROM is untouched, I made the nandroid backup just after I installed TWRP, I just double-checked and it's unrooted. The only modification I made was changing the bootlogo animation (I put back the original one instead of the "unlocked bootloader" one).
I know it's not the original request of the thread but can you point me where I can find a way to do it ?
Where to revert the bootloader locked image?...I don't think you need to....only to flash the stock recovery .....
Stock recovery file for x1032 can be found here....after reverting to backup, flash this (bye bye twrp )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649763
But if you need to put back the unlocked warning, try this thread, open the app then make a blank zip (with the logo bin files for logo unlocked blank)
And flash that in twrp.

I just mentioned the fact that I changed the bootloader logo but I don't think it matters when installing OTA updates.
I found a stock recovery in the thread you mentioned, but it is a zip file (I opened it and there is a recovery.img file and a folder named META-INF). Can I just flash the recovery.img through fastboot or is there any other step to the process ?

Flash the zip file you downloaded in twrp (your custom recovery)....
Or you can extract the recovery image and flash via fastboot

is your system working? what version on android you are running now? stock recovery will work only with stock rom I think... you are in dead end sort of. try flashing twrp recovery, if you succeed, I can provide some backups.
