It could depend on the bands the carrier supports as well.

Using: http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_5 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands Italy 3g is all 2100 MHz which is band 1. So either you have a radio that's less band 1 friendly for 3g.
Recommendations: 1) Try a different modem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
2) It may be bad hardware. You could take the phone apart and try to fix it or RMA it if it still has a warranty.
3) Live with it.

[Q] Enable 850 Mhz band with any modem version Galaxy S 4g

I have the tmobile samsung galaxy 4g. Unfortunately it doesn´t come with the 850 Mhz band enabled for 3g data. I read in galaxy s post that it is possible to flash the modem to another one who has this band included. Is it possible in the galaxy s 4g?
Thanks.

850MHz UMTS on Vibrant 4G
I have both the Vibrant 4G and the older Vibrant from T-Mobile.
Using the instructions found here: androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/258859-how-enable-850mhz-3g-network-frequency-your-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html[/url]
I see that I can enable 850MHz on the older Vibrant but I don't see the 850MHz option on the Vibrant 4G. I have not yet tested the Vibrant to see if I get better AT&T data coverage (ie: 850MHz when 1900MHz is not available.)

I believe this is true for the Galaxy S i9000 which has support for 3G network over the 850mz band. Our phone, the Galaxy S 4g does not.
It is possible to flash a modem for 3G @ 850mz band for i9000, but not for the sgs4g.
The main reason being that the i9000 is an international phone so it has to support a lot of carriers and different bands/networks around the globe. But the SGS4G was made for T-Mobile's network, so the bands that it supports are limited to that carrier.

[Q] Why dont ATT LTE bands work on tmobile 3g

To my understanding tmobile 3g runs on aws 1700/2100 while one x's lte has both 1700/2100 bands so whats the reason behind all this that doesn't let tmobiles 3g run on its lte bands...and sorry i know that there's other threads saying it doesn't work but i just wanted to know why
it probably needs to be configured, have you added the correct data needed. Plus does tmobile even have LTE bands? News to me... i know 3g but lte?
The LTE radio hardware is completely different than the 3G (UMTS/HSPA) hardware. They have nothing to do with each other. Having frequency compatibility on a certain band on 3G doesn't get you the same compatibility on LTE. Same goes for EDGE/2G. For instance having a phone with 1900 MHz compatibility on 2G will not allow you to get 3G signal on the 1900 MHz band.

Nope, no amount of software or setting tinkering will make the LTE radio work on T-Mob's HSPA+ network.

D821 gets LTE pretty much everywhere except North America. D820 only gets LTE in north america
HSPA and lower works on both pretty much everywhere.
Though, you haven't given specifics so I in turn, can not be specific

Its only a couple of bands. You can't change a d820 into a d821 or vice versa. Just swap a couple to work in China. There is a thread though...

Same here. I use it in Bulgaria and LTE is very limited, also AFAIK LTE shortens the battery life..
If you don't have coverage and you have LTE it will keep scanning -> battery drain

Working in Uk?
The strangest thing... I enabled said bands while I was visiting Pakistan and it IMMEDIATELY worked (provider there uses band 3, 1800 MHz) It worked just fine in Dubai as well, also on band 3 and on my EE sim on roaming on etisalat. But then I get back to Uk and still no LTE. Just HSPA!
I am on EE network which I am sure uses band 3 as well. I know there is an LTE signal in my area because when I pop my sim in my wife's iPhone 5 (not 5s) it picks LTE immediately (which I believe is only capable of band 3 in UK)
Also, I am not getting LTE on my Verizon anywhere at all.
So I know band 3 was unlocked because it worked great in Pakistan and Dubai but its not working here. Anyone have any ideas why this is?
@BobbySteel: does yours work in Uk?
So if I am American, do I even need or want to try this?

What about me ? I have AT&T and current use only HSPA+
do you have an idea if this band that you unlocked is also available on ATT?
Great job
What are the default LTE bands the verizon m8 comes with?
Also is it possible to unlock AWS HSPA+ bands?
I have the exact same problem. I can't get any UK sim cards to reliably work in the UK but it works well in every other EU country I'm in. I've tried both Voda and O2 UK. Strangely though there are a few locations (near Victoria for example) where 4g *does* work. But it's geographically small and other areas my old sgs4 got 4g don't work on this handset w the same sim. Bizarre.
I was hoping this would be a more popular thread but guess the phone is getting old now...

AFAIK, HTC One M8 has LTE bands 4/13 unlocked. And it´s global on 3G.
Edit: Bands 4/13 only(NV 6828 = 4104, same NV 6829)

TMO uses LTE bands 2-4-12 in the continental US and Verizon 4-13. Therefore you should unlock bands 2-12 to use both carriers.
So, NV6828 and NV6829 original values(4104) must be replaced with 6154. Hope this helps.

Enable UMTS 900 on TMO NOTE 5

Hi Guys, I recently bough a TMO note 5, previously I had a Sprint note 5 and I used it overseas and worked fine on UMTS 900.
I did not know that TMO note 5 has not access to UMTS 900 as the Sprint one had... is there any way I can flash a modem so the TMO note 5 can recognize UMTS 900 or is it hardware based? :crying:
I was reading that all version have identical Hardware, dont know it flashing an alternate rom or a modem file might enable umts 900 or if I can enable it via service mode (Don't know the code to type and access service mode :crying
Regards.

Hi, I don'd understand what you mean by which band number is 900mhz ?
All I see are 850,1900,2100, 900mhz is supported by sprint's note 5, assuming they share the same HW with tmo note 5, I thought of enabling 900mhz somehow but using the code you gave me I dont have 900mhz listed, maybe flashing another modem ?
Well you need to look closely... you need the 900mhz WCDMA band... which would be referred to as "WCSMA Band xx", for instance here on T-Mobile, LTE band 12 is the 700mhz band that has good building penetration...
