Same here. I use it in Bulgaria and LTE is very limited, also AFAIK LTE shortens the battery life..
If you don't have coverage and you have LTE it will keep scanning -> battery drain

Working in Uk?
The strangest thing... I enabled said bands while I was visiting Pakistan and it IMMEDIATELY worked (provider there uses band 3, 1800 MHz) It worked just fine in Dubai as well, also on band 3 and on my EE sim on roaming on etisalat. But then I get back to Uk and still no LTE. Just HSPA!
I am on EE network which I am sure uses band 3 as well. I know there is an LTE signal in my area because when I pop my sim in my wife's iPhone 5 (not 5s) it picks LTE immediately (which I believe is only capable of band 3 in UK)
Also, I am not getting LTE on my Verizon anywhere at all.
So I know band 3 was unlocked because it worked great in Pakistan and Dubai but its not working here. Anyone have any ideas why this is?
@BobbySteel: does yours work in Uk?
So if I am American, do I even need or want to try this?

If you're on Verizon; no.
What about me ? I have AT&T and current use only HSPA+
do you have an idea if this band that you unlocked is also available on ATT?
Great job
What are the default LTE bands the verizon m8 comes with?
Also is it possible to unlock AWS HSPA+ bands?
I have the exact same problem. I can't get any UK sim cards to reliably work in the UK but it works well in every other EU country I'm in. I've tried both Voda and O2 UK. Strangely though there are a few locations (near Victoria for example) where 4g *does* work. But it's geographically small and other areas my old sgs4 got 4g don't work on this handset w the same sim. Bizarre.
I was hoping this would be a more popular thread but guess the phone is getting old now...

AFAIK, HTC One M8 has LTE bands 4/13 unlocked. And it´s global on 3G.
Edit: Bands 4/13 only(NV 6828 = 4104, same NV 6829)

TMO uses LTE bands 2-4-12 in the continental US and Verizon 4-13. Therefore you should unlock bands 2-12 to use both carriers.
So, NV6828 and NV6829 original values(4104) must be replaced with 6154. Hope this helps.

I agree the att one x will have the same awesome krait prossecor and it might have the same internals maybe making it possible to flash one s roms with the art one x. Because the att one x and international one x won't be able to flash each others Roms

ATT uses micro sim, that's not an issue.
Frankly I find these LTE just getting to be ridiculously big. The HTC One S is the perfect size imo.
According to the FCC document for the t-mobile version, it's supports WCDMA 850 (ATT), 1700 (T-mobile) and 1900 (ATT,T-mobile). So I should fine on ATT's network as long as I put in the correct APN right?
Also looking for clarification on this...
It probably will, but it has to be unlocked and for that to happen, we need S-Off which could very well be a few months away. Why don't you buy the international, unlocked version outright? You also get your choice of colors (red/black as well instead of just blue/grey).
Wow, not a straight answer yet, YES and unlocked HTC One S will work on ATT 3G (1900mhz). No ATT LTE support. Contrary to above micro-sim is not a problem, att iphones use them and of course you can always cut it as well.

I thought it had the 850 band for 3G only. I don't see any specs that say it has the 1900 band for 3G. This tells me it will only work in places that AT&T has 3G on the 850 band. Does ATT use 1900 at all for 3G?

ATT uses 1900, in some markets, ATT uses the mixture of both, 850 has better penetration in urban areas (tall buildings ...)
I'm interested in the phone, but i'm going to be using it on ATT. Can somebody that has the device tell us what is the FCC ID?
Quick trip to Phone Scoop website, i can see that there are two FCC ID's associated with the phone. NM8PJ40110 passed the tests using ATT WCDMA bands (band II 1900 and band V 850) and T-Mobile bands (band IV 1700/2100). NM8PJ40100 passed only ATT bands. Both doesn't show any reference to any test on WCDMA 2100 (band I), which probably means that the phone doesn't support the international 3G band.
In short, theoretically, the T-Mobile's version of HTC One S should work on ATT 3G bands (WCDMA band II and WCDMA band V), however, the phone would not support ATT LTE.
Since the hardware is there (FCC website proves it, unless if the official T-Mobile USA version got pushed with different FCC ID that i do not know), the phone should work on ATT 3G, but nothing prevents T-Mobile to disable the ATT 3G radios in their ROM. I think that S-OFF would give opportunity to enable the ATT radios (if they are blocked)
We will see ...
Take care,
From my experience, the ATT radio is not blocked and works fine.

Did 3G ever worked for you ? How did you unlock you AT&T one x, sung unlock code ?
If you go to your dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* , you will go into testing mode - where you can check your network settings. Verify that your network is not set to something like "LTE Only" (which is not available in India).
Preferably set it to "WCDMA Preferred" or "WCDMA Only" (You can also play around with HSPA ).
See if that works.

Having the same problem..
I have an AT&T Unlocked HTC ONE XL (Eviita)
Its Bands seem to be compatible with 3G Bands in India.
I have tried everything (*#*#4636#*#*) and tried all banks.. on "WCDMA PREFERRED" it still shows "E" and my sim comes 3G data plan is active.
I have Unlocked Bootloader, S-Off, Rooted, Installed Cynganemod 10.2 (Android 4.3) with G-apps and its all working fine, but still no 3G.
Any help on this from anyone.
Theres only 1 thing i can now think of... when u go into (*#*#4636#*#*) mode and click on Phone Information and scroll down, u can see one tab which cannot be clicked and it dimmed out, it says... "OEM-specific Info/Settings", but you cant click it.

When buying any phone from a source other than your carrier, you need to do the research on band compatibility BEFORE you buy the phone. As this is set in hardware, and is can't be modified. The fact you say "seems to be compatible" implies that you aren't sure.
Also, you haven't mentioned what carrier you are using. The OP says Vodaphone, and I can't find any info on what MHz band Vodaphone uses for 3G. You need to know what band your carrier is using for 3G. Your carrier needs to be using one of the bands 850, 1900, or 2100 MHz for 3G (HSPA). Otherwise you will not get 3G on this device.

That doesn't mean anything, did you make that up? Either the phone is SIM unlocked or not. There is no "lock" on the device that would make you get EDGE but not 3G. Getting EDGE but no 3G typically means that the device is not compatible with your carrier's 3G network.

Hey guys just wondering if anybody has unlocked a One S (bought from a Canadian Carrier) and tested it out on Wind or Mobilicity.
I emailed HTC asking them about the bands supported by the phones and this is the reply I got.
Fido: HSPA 42 Mbps
Bell: HSPA 42 Mbps 2100/1900/AWS GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Sasktel: HSPA 42 Mbps
Telus: HSPA 42 Mbps
Virgin: HSPA 42 Mbps

Asked them if the other phones had the same bands
I do apologise for the misunderstanding, but the bands would be the same for the One S on each network.
That being said, I will suggest to contact Wind Mobile to verify if a unlocked phone will work to its fullest potential or not. The reason I mention this, is that some providers put a limit on the connection, on an unlocked phone.

Are you sure Penta Band ONE S exist in Canada/USA ? read post #3
As for the official HTC site says. HSPA/WCDMA:Europe/Asia: 850/900/2100 MHz
BUT Your links would make sense according to the note Network bands in regions other than Europe and Asia Pacific may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location.
I too, am trying to find out too what bands does the Canadian version support
Fido , Bell, Virgin all listed HSPA 850 1900 2100 but Telus only listed 850 1900 , so that leads me to believe 1700 is not supported.
However at the same time, the international version isn't penta band, nor the T mobile version... Where are theretailers getting their penta band One S in black?
Maybe the device is penta band from the fatory but carriered modified ?
My Telus One S arrives next week and I will unlock it but ufortunately Wind doesn't
operate in SK so I won't be able to test it.
I tried to look at the demo phone and I couldnt find the menu option to select networks.

The black unlocked international One S is for sure not pentaband as far as I know and supports less bands than the blue version. I am assuming the blue versions are all the same and just branded differently. My suspicion is Fido/Bell/Virgin/Telus aren't listing the 1700 band so that people do not buy and unlock them to use with Wind/Mobilicity.
That's too bad there has to be someone out there that has attempted to try it on Wind/Mobilicity. It's such a pain how every site/company is showing different specs.
The European version will not work with AWS. Currently the only *confirmed" AWS version is the T-Mobile US version. However if S-Off is ever achieved then flashing a T-Mobile US radio could "unlock" the bands in the European version and other versions a la the Snapdragon Galaxy Note.

I am aware the the European one does not have AWS. However I am not asking about the black European model. In Canada we have the blue model just like the one with T-Mobile in the States which leads me to believe that the Canadian version=the American version; I just need some confirmation.

Does anybody mind looking under the cover for the model / FCC ID / Industry Canada certification numbers and reporting back with the carrier they got the phone from and the FCC ID. They should be printed on the label near the headphones / headset jack.
These are the variants available in Canada.
PJ40100: UMTS Band V (850)
PJ40110: UMTS Band II (1900)/IV (AWS)/V (850)
PJ40200: UMTS Band V (850)
PJ40210: UMTS Band II (1900)/V (850)
I went to Telus and Bell today ( the Fido and Sasktel stores didn't have working demo models ), I checked the FCC tags and both of them showed "PJ40110". on the top line.
I didn't look at the FCC ID or IC.

Please be aware that you will buy an unsupported phone, unlock the bootloader to root the phone, most probably voiding your warranty in the process (there's talk that the root-only (and not requiring unlocked bootloader) method for the NA One X works on the One S) then Sim-unlock the phone (by a paid code or the new hack), find the APNs for your carrier...
... And hope that all works...
I don't want to scare you but make sure you fully understand all risks. Specially if you buy the phone outright and don't have an account on that carrier...
Despite the fact that I can't test data (as it should be locked in my account) here is a shot telling that I'm on 3G UTMS (which can't be done with this SIM on a non-AWS phone like my iPhone).
I got one from Virginmobile had it unlocked it and am now using it on Mobilicity.
The Rep at the store assured me it wont work but i tried it and it did.
Reason for buying from there was because it was on sale.
I was thinking of pulling the trigger on pre-order for a few reasons, but have not been able to get an answer of two questions!?
1 ) It says that the Verizon is coming soon, and list Band on the specs, if I pre-order will Verizon compatibility be a software upgrade or will it be a different model phone?
2 ) They talk about a developer edition with unlocked bootloader, is the the unlocked carrier version the same as the developer edition, or is that going to be a different phone all together?
Unfortunately I missed the press conference today and hoping and maybe the questions were answered. Also I figured the great knowledgeable people over here at XDA might know this answer. I have tried contacting HTC support, but it seems their chat system is down. I sent them a Facebook post with these questions, but and not optimistic that they will get back to me.
Anyways thanks,
Leroy
1. Verizon is a software update. It will run on their LTE network. In theory at least. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2493426,00.asp
2. I missed if there would be a developer edition. The presentation said the unlocked carrier version can have bootloader unlocked and not void the warranty. https://youtu.be/VZM17XI409M?t=888
[edit]
HTC's website says the Verizon update will be released in November. I thought I read somewhere that it should be within a week of launch, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Is it possible to use an Indian credit card to place an order and ship to USA address? Do they still do the verification and bill only US cards?

Appreciate all the info @pkinetics
My only concern is what the was said in the article. The phone will not have CDMA, so those spots in a building have happened to me oh so much, where I loose LTE and go to 3g. I can assume with this phone that would mean I would have no service. I really applaud HTC for making a move so bold. There are so many unlocked phones world wide for GSM that are really affordable. I just purchased a used phone to hold me out until I decided if I wanted a Nexus 5x or not, but I think that I am gonna go with this phone. I know that I may loose service sometimes, but usually when I am in a building I am on wifi and I use hangouts for all of my calls and sms.
Thanks again for the links

I don't think they're releasing a DevEd. The unlocked version is sim unlocked only I believe.
Nope, in the live stream they said the phone will not lose its warranty with opened bootloader and unlocked condition. And you can install custom roms without losing it too.

Does anyone know if you can use the unlocked / free US version in Europe / Germany completely without any restriction?
Especially with all frequencies and bands?
Does anyone happen to know if the Sprint version has a CDMA radio? (Just wondering if it might be possible to migrate the sprint version over to verizon land.) LTE-only on Verizon will be a bit of an issue for voice calls in spotty / fringe areas...

If things go as planned, CDMA on Verizon will be no longer...by end of 2016.
They intend to have their entire CDMA market covered with LTE by that time and will be phasing out legacy CDMA altogether.
VoLTE will BE their voice coverage.
Just throwing that out there...

I've seen blurbs about:
1. Shipping early November. I swear I heard in the presentation he said first week of November. I'm guessing this is basic colors.
2. Acid gold and deep garnet will ship late November.
3. Sprint has said they will have the A9 available Nov 6. AT&T has committed, but not set a date or price.
The USA need to start next week Monday in my opinion.

Most likely...
Well, HTC updated A9 Verizon info on their site.
Instead of "Verizon coming soon"
Now it says: "Verizon coming in December"
:silly:
Aloha Santod,
I couldn't help myself and ended up pulling the trigger on the unlocked version. I'm hoping that if what they say is true that this will run on Verizon. If the boot loader is accessible for unlocking and it works on Verizon I will be one step closer to your custom roms.I decided to sell my M9 because I was dissapointed with the camera and I'm currently using my m8 to pass the time. Hope you decide to do your magic on this unit.
Mahalo Bro.
so its a preorder now, when will this ship for gsm models? i may return my m9 and buy this instead.
I think the a9 is a beautiful device for its price
The Sprint version has all the bands necessary for project Fi. Wonder if that's in the cards as well.
I love the phone and the size but only getting H+ sucks. Has anyone tried to unlock the 4g bands?

I tried. Not possible. I got all the way to putting in the new values in the phone, but when you reboot it they go back to default. There is a fail safe in the kernel preventing it. need a custom kernel to do it successfully. Here is the thread that I was discussing back and forth with another member:

I am having no problem using 4G in Canada. I bought my phone in Malaysia.

It all depends on the band the carrier is using. The phone doesn't have all LTE/4G bands unlocked. So if your carrier is using a band that is available on the phone then you are golden. For me the only band the phone has unlocked that AT&T uses for LTE is band 5. Half my city is band 5, and the other half is 2 and 17. So in the band 5 areas I have 4G, and in the 2 and 17 areas I have HSPA+

The LTE bands in the U.S. are blocked. Back in the day we had same issue with the original Samsung Note 1 - in was only built originally for ATT. Eventually folks built roms/kernels that did the trick on T-MO.
So here's to hoping the same thing happens w/ our ZF3ultra
.

I'm in Canada, service sucks but adore the actual device...need more bands opened!
Hi,
Could anyone provide "rfnv" files of Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra?
I trying unlock bands for Leeco Le 2 X520 so "rfnv" files of Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra will help me a lot.
Thank you for your attention.
