[Q] Need help with Verizon S3 running 4.4.2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay, so I hope I'm able to explain myself clearly, and even more hopeful that some of the experts around here can help me.
A few days ago I was having some issues with my S3. Not sure what happened, but I wasn't getting any mobile signal. Long story short, I ended up doing a factory reset, and installed stock rom 4.1.2 via Odin. Then(because I wasn't paying attention and didn't read enough) I took the OTA updates of 4.3 and 4.4.2. So, I've read enough now to realize that my bootloader is locked. Okay, I can live with that. My problem is that my phone WILL NOT connect to the Play Store. It also WILL NOT connect to Hangouts correctly. I can still send and receive SMS, but it doesn't send do it under "my signed in account", just under a general "SMS" account. When I try to sign into my google account, I get a message saying "couldn't sign in because we couldn't reach Google". I've read dozens and dozens of posts and still can't find a fix. I've cleared caches, force stopped, uninstalled/reinstalled my google account, and even done a factory reset, but still get the same problems. I'm terribly desperate now. I can live with a locked bootloader(from what I've read, I have NO CHOICE), and I can even live with being on the stock 4.4.2 rom. But not being able to connect to the Play Store and Hangouts under my google account is driving me mad. Again, I'm running 4.4.2 and NE1. And please bear in mind, I'm not the most "technically inclined" when it comes to this stuff.
Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
Rich

Just to update, the problem has been solved. I'm not entirely sure what fixed it, but here is what I did.
I fired up Kies and did the "firmware upgrade" option. After that finished(about 30 minutes or so), I went in to "Google Play Services", "Google Hangouts", Google Play Store", and I THINK "Google Frameworks" and did a Force Stop, followed by Uninstall Updates. I then tried to connect with the Play Store and it took like 10 minutes, but it finally connected(I think it then did some updates to a bunch of Google apps). Again, I'm not entirely sure what step really fixed it, but all seems to be good now.

[Q] Google Services AND Google Framework Error

I am getting those two errors on my Tmobile SGS2. I posted here assuming it could happen on any phone, as the one error, Google Services has stopped.gapps, I got on my MT4G rooted
This phone is not rooted.
When I first got a gapps error and couldn't log in on the MIUI rom for MT4G Ibhad to install Gapps appt. All was fine.
Then when Google Services stopped I had to stop all calendar syncing, as they knew it came from there, stop all calendar apps, restart etc then resync then fine
Now on thos unrooted phone I tries that PLUS I am getting that Google Framework has stopped error
I would rather not do a factory reset if possible as Tmo has me using no apps for a few days, then o e day at a time.
Thanks very much

Google services framework error
I am getting the same problem on my Ainol Novo 7 Paladin (rooted, ics 4.0.3)
Very frustrating.
I was told it was corrupt data under one item in google account. I.e. contacts, calemdar, ...
Well in fact they were right. Mine was the calendar. I deleted all info and reentered from the pc
In ur case it may be that, or it may be a similar pr to oblem I had with a rooted mt4g. I believe I had to simply download gapps and flash it
One of those may help..I hope
I have similar problem on my Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i that is rooted I rooted this device a few years ago with the help of XDA members and has been great up till now, the symptoms I get are, from power up I get message "allow Google's location service" with the options agree/disagree if you press either the message seems to take ages to go away then when it does the next message appears "google service framework com.google.process.gapps" force close now the strange thing is every app on my device still work so I was wondering if the location service is the cause but where would I find that ??

[Update]
Since my last post I downloading Samsung Kies, removed root and connected the GT-S5830i to my PC and found there was an update (2.3.6) proceeded and the device updated with no errors, disconnected from PC and booted device with one error message "Google play store (process.com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly" force close. Now the only app on the device that will not start is "Google play store". The problems I did have before update have gone but now replaced with Google play store error.
Could anyone give me an idea how I could resolve this problem ??

Droid Maxx Google account problems

I've tried everything I can think of to resolve this, but I need some suggestions.
So - my husband finally got a smartphone, after getting by with a keyboard phone for years. I talked to him about different phones - iPhones even - and after looking at several, he took my advice and got a Droid Maxx. Of course I helped him set it up, etc. Everything went well for a day or two, but then he started getting all sorts of errors - Google sync problems, Google account sign-in problems, "Unfortunately Google play services has stopped" etc. I was able to solve most of the problems by uninstalling updates to Google Play, and a few other things. He was still having some issues, though. The phone occasionally shut itself off. So, I decided to do a factory reset.
Since then, everything is working much better. The phone hasn't shut down at all, etc. However, in the last day or two, he will get an error notification that's something like "Trouble signing in to Google Account". He has to tap the notification and enter his Google password. Then everything seems fine until it happens again sometime later. Now it's happening frequently
He has almost no apps installed. The two or three he has installed are the same ones that I have used forever on my android devices, including on my Droid Maxx and Moto X - so on the same or similar devices. I have checked every setting I can think of. He doesn't have 2-step authorization on his Google account and he never has problems with that account on his desktop, laptop, etc.
Any ideas what could be happening? He does drive through an area with no cell service every day, so that could have something to do with it, but I drive through the same no-service area, and I have never, ever had to sign in to my Google account after initial setup. Sometimes this issue crops up when he has perfectly good service.

i think that's the problem, i had issues the first time i passed by a no service area and the problem showed up ''we have trouble authenticating this account, tap here to solve'' and thats all. it solved with the tap in the notification, and never appeared again, i suspect your rom data its corrupted and i recommend reinstalling the phones firmware 4.2 or 4.4 whatever version is. that should solve the problems.

Thanks for your reply! Can you please explain what "your rom data its corrupted" means?
Also, how do I reinstall the firmware? This phone is not rooted and was updated to 4.4 KitKat OTA.
I'm hoping that it was just the magnet on his pouch case interfering with the radios. He realized that he's always noticed this problem after the phone has been in the case. This afternoon I asked him not to put it in the case as an experiment.

[Q] Play Store v. 5.1.1 crashes immediately upon opening, HELP!

This issue has just started happening to me over the past 2-3 days, and I cannot figure out a permanent fix for it! Let me start by saying that my OPO is not rooted, and the only updates to the ROM have been the official ones that have been released (I'm currently on CM version 11.0-XNPH44S). Every time I attempt to open the Play Store, it crashes immediately afterward with the "unfortunately google play store has stopped" error. I looked at the error report and it states : [CRASH] com.android.vending threw java.lang.IllegalArguementException as the subject then the first line of the content reads: "java.lang.illegalarguementexception: view android.widget.listview{41ab7730 VFED.VC. .F...... 0,0-1080,1845 #7f0a02dd app:id/play_drawer_list} is not a drawer".
I know nothing about Java, so I have no idea what this means, and there are 18 lines of equally incomprehensible text after that. I've tried clearing the data, cache, etc. from the app with no change. The only thing that works is when I uninstall the updates, taking the Play Store back to v. 4.9.13. However, in almost all cases it auto-updates immediately back to 5.1.1, so I'm still not able to use it. I read somewhere about disabling the background data usage in settings, but then you're not allowed to download anything from the store.
Is anyone else having the same issue, or can you suggest an idea as to how to fix it without my rooting the device and having to back up the nearly 700 apps I have on it? TYSM in advance!

Same problem here, any fix yet?

Unable to fix "Google play services has stopped"

Recently I have started getting an error saying Google Play Services has stopped, I have tried clearing the cache of both play services and the play store with no luck.
I have also tried clearing data, rolling back to the previous version & even as a last resort I did factory reset. Nothing seems to be working, now I'm thinking it may be related to another app?
Model: 6+ PE-TL10
Build PE-TL10V100R001C900B141
Play services: 7.5.71(1955121-038)
Play Store:5.5.1.2
Anyone else had this problem? or have any other possible solutions? it's happening every few mins now

thanks for the reply. just had a look at that file. Need root to delete though, maybe thats something to look at next..
Hey,
Did you manage to get this fixed? I've got the same versions as you and I'm having the same issue, its gradually getting worse. Message has gone from being occasional to once every few seconds. It's driving me nuts. :silly:
I've tried the normal tips suggested for other phones (wipe cache, un-install updates, shout at it).
Currently looking at one of the update files from needrom incase its an issue with 4.4.2. Failing that will try rooting and failing that i guess its a factory reset and fingers crossed unless anyone has a brain wave.
I assumed it was Play Services itself, which you can't delete to roll back (and test) but it seems to be an app, which I'd uninstall if I knew which one.
I saw someone else with a 6+ at an event recently who had the exact same version of Google Play services and he's not had the problem once. I get it all the time.
Honor is aware of it, although it's been a few weeks now.
I just went thru same problem, different device, but i went thru two hours of hell, until i finally figured it out..... Similarly i went thru same problem last week on my rooted Lenovo ideapad... And today i couldn't remember what the f¥¢k i did to fix it! Finally, with the error "unfortunately the process gapps has stopped" every two seconds and constant notification about Google play service needing update.... But damn device freezing cause button needs hit ok.... Finally i went and managed to between error message ; get into settings - application mgr - all - Google play services.... Clear cache data manage data force stop.... Them Playstore wipe cache +data, uninstall update....
Then back to main settings page, accounts - Google - uninstall all accts. Reboot....
Then i tried (soon as booted) to go play but it was stuck on weird error - no service (?? Was on wifi - wtf??) so Google search and said i need update and that took me to Google account set up... Reinstall account and you get the Google accept play messages and backup /restore checkbox.... After that all was good to go.... Yeehaw!! * Yipee!!!
Sure that there is probably a beer way to do it but i was cussing up a storm and ready to smash it into the wall! Thankfully i was patient and figured out a solution
I had the same problem twice, and i solve it by :
Uninstall the update of play service in app manager. (Clear cache mayby)
Reboot.
Let playstore reinstall the update.
That's all.
No need to delete Google acount.

I experienced same issue on my Honor 6 plus and it drove me mad. 100 times per day the same message popped up in different situations but I could not see any correlation between the appearance of the message and any specific activity on the phone. I only noticed that the message appeared more often when I used any map application like Google Maps or Nokia Here. I tried to fix it with all above mentioned solutions, deactivated most of the Play apps, cleared the app cash of play services and all GApps, cleared the system cash from stock recovery and nothing helped for more than 10 min. Finally I deactivated Google Now (via Google Settings) and suddenly the popping up of this message stopped. No single error message re-appeared since that (48 hours ago). So in my case the issue seems to be solved for now and finally I'm fully happy with the phone.

I am also getting this error since I got lollipop update on my honor 4 x and now on Android 6 on same devices.

One Plus One phone won't start after trying to solve 'Google play services' error

Hi everybody.
I'm new here, and haven't helped anyone yet. Still I hope somebody wants and actually can help me. Thanks in advance.
First & foremost: I searched for the problem before posting this and everywhere it says that Cyanogen fixed the 'Google Play Service' error. However, something is definately wrong with my phone as it won't boot anymore.
I'll try to keep it as short as possible:
Phone: One Plus One w Cyanogen mod. 64gb model.
I was on holiday last month and got a notification of an update. I installed it. After that I was experiencing the problem everybody seemed to have. Popups every 30 seconds (or less) saying the Google Play Services have stopped. As I was on holiday and didn't have Wifi at the time I was just irritated by the errors. I needed my phone for navigation (I was doing a roadtrip) and although Google Maps wasn't working anymore, Nokia Here maps was still operating and so I thought to solve the problem when I return home. However, a few weeks ago another update appeared on my phone and I was thinking this might be the fix for the problem so I installed it. Unfortunately the errors still appeared.
Then I found a workaround to stop the errors, I uninstalled the updates for Google Play Services. This stopped the errors, and still some apps were not working (GPS based apps) but at least the errors were gone.
Yesterday I tried to solve the problem. I read a lot online and decided to install the newest Google Play Services file. Unfortunately it didn't work. Errors returned but now I could also not enter the Google play store anymore. This should have been the moment to back up important files... but I didn't. Stupid me forgetting about lesson 1, logic 101... so stupid.
Ok, so this morning I stumbled upon a page from problogbooster.com and decided to follow Solution 1, which says:
Go to Settings >> Select Security >> Device administrators >> Deactivate Android Device Manager
Uninstall Google Play services update
Go to Settings >> Application Manager >> All >> Google Play services >> Select Uninstall Updates
If you use an app that requires the latest Google Play services, you’ll get an update prompt and the update may immediately be reinstalled.
Now again go to Settings >> Select Security >> Device administrators >> ACTIVATE Android Device Manager
Reboot your device.
After this reboot my phone doesn't start anymore. I'm sick of it. All my pics from my holiday are on there... and I would love to be able to back them up.
Does anybody have an idea on what to try next? Hooking it up through USB hasn't given me access to my files unfortunately.
Thanks in advance for anything that can help. Cheers.
Peter.
Update: every now and then it will try to boot, updating my apps (as if I just did an update) but when it's finished it just reboots again... and again.
The Cyanogen MOD ready screen is showing but nothing.
As there are no responses yet, let me narrow down the question:
Is there a possibility to access my photo's on the phone from the recovery menu? Or through ADB connection? Or through Fastboot? I don't care about the phone. The data matters to me. If it was the other way around I would just go back to factory settings and continue using and take the loss... but I don't want to accept that (yet...)
Pretty please, can someone help me with this?
Cheers
Peter.
