Low battery bootloop but accessible via PC (fastboot & flashmode) - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey community,
i bought a sony xperia z3 three months ago.
Yesterday I recognized that my phone was at 50% battery after charging the whole night.
I thought that its a bug or something and I got my real 100%, but after ~3 hours it was still at 50% and suddenly there was the "you have to charge your phone"-pop up for 1ms.
So i decided to plug in my charger and thought my phone will charge again. But no, the battery icon also switched from 14% to 50% in this 1ms. It was going on like (13%<->50%, 12%<->50% and so on) this until my phone died and got 0%.
I haven't unlocked my bootloader, flashed it or something like this. It was the original vodafone branded sony xperia z3.
Until now I can't charge my phone, because everytime I plug in the charger, my phone is booting with the low-battery icon and after 5 seconds it's turning of in a loop. Booting for 5 seconds and then shutting down and so on...
I thought my phone will have enough battery when I will plug in the charger for the whole night and my phone will try to start in this loop until it has enough battery. But again, nope!
Now I decided to unlock the bootloader and flash my phone with Cyanogenmod 12 or CMW, because my phone is accessible from the computer. I can go into the flashboot and flash mode.
But also after unlocking and flashing I've got the same thing again. It won't start.
I tried to charge it for about 4 hours in flashboot mode, because then the blue light is shining and my phone is not shutting down. But NOPE, same **** again.
I don't know what I can do anymore. Can you help me?
Do you think I have to change the battery?
Looking forward to hear from you! It's only three months old never dropped or something like this.
greetings and sorry for the wall of text
shimmy

bro warranty covers that, but as soon as u unlocked bootloader, u kinda voided that too =(
go to Vodafone and DO NOT mention that you unlocked bootloader and explain the problem within 2 weeks of purchase u should receive a brand new device and afterwards they'll repair it for you

I have a small crack (2mm thick and I think it came from pressure) at the backcover and asked vodafone if they can change my backcover, because now it's not guaranteed that it's waterproof.
They said no, because it's my own fault if something is cracked or broken on the case and I have to pay 259€ to get a new one.
Yesterday I called vodafone again because of this problem and they won't repair it, because of my first support case and I have to pay 259€ to get a new phone. I was arguing for about 1 hours that this is a guarantee case and it has nothing to do with the crack, but they don't care and there are some laws that I could say that they have damaged my phone and so on. No chance.. Maybe I should call my advocate.
I read something about locking the bootloader? Maybe I can flash a stock version and lock the bootloader?

Try yellow reset button.

I also tried this before. It doesn't fix the problem.

Hi guys, Sorry to bring up such a old post but having a similar issue.. My Mrs phone just started rebooting one day, Vodafone refused to replace because tiny crack. The boot loader is unlockable I tried repairing with xperia windows tools the flashed older and different firmware's many times. The phone works when connected to PC but when unplugged or on normal charger just constant reboot.
Any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks

No more wizard:(

long story short my wizard fell in the toilet last Jan of 08.. miraculously ,it worked till now, when a few weeks ago failed to flash a new rom. now its stuck on bootloader. my wizard cannot stay on without being plugged into the wall this is a fairly new concept to me because it just started doing that lol
if the battery is taken off the phone the screen messes up (white screen with flashing bars going diagonally) of course i would find out i had to leave the phone on for a week being charged so the screen would go back to normal on its own, so i never take the battery out.
It doesn't charge via wall charger it needs the cradle which i brought separately...another defect on the phone is how the red led light which indicates i guess being charged, is ALWAYS lit..
so i went on to flash the NBDX Rom successfully maybe a month prior to the accident. it went on to satisfied me till i decided to try something new, by flashing the SimOne MD2 rom (so tempting)
so now that the flashing was unsuccessful i am stuck on bootloader because since my phone cant stand being on without being charged it will turn off after a minute, so it will NEVER go on to finish ....
well anyway, that's my story. i just thought you would know (was bored) lol maybe its time for a new phone anyway ..Well, thanks for reading my article..
It sounds like a hardware, not software, issue. I think the timing was just a coincidence. Perhaps a new battery would help. Also, try charging with an external charger. Sorry about your loss.

[Q] Rooted 4.1.1 GS3 Possible Sudden Death Syndrome?

Hello All!
Three days ago I updated my GS3 to JB 4.1.1. I also ODIN'd TWRP onto my phone as a recovery and loaded SuperSU with an unlocked bootloader onto my phone along with BusyBox. I fell in love with my phone again as JB ran smoothly and I was even able to use Wallet Installer to get Google Wallet onto my phone. However, tonight, my phone seemed to experience a case of Sudden Death Syndrome. A common issue found by googling why my phone's failure to respond to boot commands and power commands.
It will not respond to attempts to boot into ODIN mode, my TWRP recovery and the only sign of life on my phone is a solid red LCD that lights up only if I remove the battery and leave the device plugged into a wall charger. Once I try to reinsert the battery, however, the LCD goes away and the phone once again turns into a coffee coaster. It's taking a lot of strength not to throw it against the wall. (I picked the worst week to quit smoking.)
I don't believe I hardbricked the device because three hours ago at the time of this post, I went to sleep and the phone was working and I was able to send and receive messages. I believe that rooting my phone actually made it even more stable than normal. I just can't believe my phone could just suddenly die. Could it be another case of Sudden Death Syndrome? (Corrupted NAND?) I bought this phone in August and many cases of SDS for the GSIII seem to occur within 150-200 days of activation, which would put me in that window. If I answered my own questions, please feel free to tell me. I'm just trying to explore all options as an exasperated user dealing with what seems frustration after frustration and the one release I have from that stress just **** a brick.
I am covered by Asurion Insurance (and if the crack on my screen will not be enough I plan on running it over with my car for good measure to get my money's worth) but I really do not want to have to file an insurance claim unless it is absolutely necessary.
Phone died just last night 12/29/12. The battery was running down, then beeped once like a warning to charge it. Plugged into the charger and no light whatsoever! The battery icon would come on for a second and then nothing. Left it on the charger over night. Nothing. No red charging light, no boot. Pulled the battery and re-plugged into charger. Same charging icon on screen but nothing else. Tried every combination of removing battery, sim card, memory card, and plugging it in to the charger and still won't boot. Tried a different charger and also my laptop. Nothing. The S3 is a USA Verizon variant. 16gb. Black. I guess it's off to Verizon this morning to get a new phone. Phone is only 45 days old!!!
You could try leaving it on the charger for a couple hours then booting into recovery and reflashing your rom. I've seen a couple instances reported on xda where the battery simply just gave up below 23% and refused to turn back on.
Edit: example, not even a couple weeks old...

Only reports of SDS in the 150-200 day time frame that I saw was with the International Version and it is completely different motherboard.
What do you kids do to your phone? How old are you? I'm going to start a survey. Age please?

Update: Brought the S3 into Verizon. They pulled the battery (Like I did a few times!) and somehow got it working again!! FM ! Phone reboots and turns off and then back on. BUT..... if you turn it completely OFF and plug it in to charge then the same as I mentioned happens again. STRANGE. The only way to get it to reboot is to pull the battery and keep it out for about 30 seconds. Put the battery back in and it'll reboot again!!!! Is it me or is this a strange quirk???? The previous times I pulled the battery it was out then back in. This time I took it out, waited 30 seconds and VOILA! It works. Thought you might like an update. Verizon S3 bought on 11/17/12. Rooted and not oc/uc'd. Using Clean Rom 5.5.1

Same here !!!
I had this same problem with my device already TWICE..... in two weeks. I bought my phone, installed what i need.... in first week phone got dead overnite.... no charging light, no reset, nothing.... I put in on warranty repair.... after it came back the statement said that what I said did not appear so they reflashed it to newer ROM only....how I don't know when the phone was completely dead... I again installed all I need a next week after happened the same!!!! At evening phone was charged full and at morning it was dead. So second time i put it on warranty repair and they said that is my problem, that I should not install any another apps from MS store !!!! I mean what the F**K, I buy overexpensive phone and I should use it without additional apps from MS store??? then I need only Nokia from 1990 and I'll be set to phone and write sms My 8X is still in repair so we will see what will happen next time.... but to say truth, I'm fed up with this phone already...
Just happened to me few days ago with the battery at about 10%. after i totally gave up and ready to send it for warranty repair. After a day, it started again as the battery was fully drained. it seems that the phone freezed somewhere with the screen off and the only trick was to drain the battery. no key combination was working and no charging lite. It could be so easy if the battery was accessible, unfortunately it's not ((

over two days the battery ran down prematurely and then refused to charge no charge light phone dead. htc less than helpful now begins the nightmare with Kogan support
Hello,
I searched for died 8X Phones. I have the same problem TWICE with my HTC 8X.
The firstdevice is ran 6 weeks, then the repair center has replaced my phone with a brand new one. After 2 weeks exactly the same problem (no function, no loading, no reset, no connection) with the second one
Have anyone an idea which function or app the phone lets crashing?
I woke up this morning to my HTC 8X being powered down when I know it had at least 45% battery. When I tried to power the device back on it would not come back on. I contacted HTC and they told me to press camera button+vol down+power for fifteen seconds and when the device vibrates to let go of the power button but keep the camera+vol down buttons pressed, when I attempted this nothing happend so the HTC representative on the phone advised me to just send it in for repair. I've owned the phone for a little over a month and a half, was on the latest firmware, and had the phone protected with full body invisible shield and HTC doubleshot case.
Had this problem yesterday...suddenly phone died and nothing
waited till i got home from work and plugged it in to the laptop and it sprang back to life saying it was compleatly out of charge....was showing 80 odd % before hand

Oneplus One Reboot Issue : Suggestion or Help Needed

My OPO is having a reboot issue, was on cos13, cm14.1 and ubuntu with mutirom,
Symptoms
1. the phone stays on if connected to a charger or powerbank.
and without charger it bootloops at the 1+ logo
2. in switched off state, when charger is connected the battery sometimes shows 0% and increases to 100%
3. with charger i entered cm recovery, removed the charger, the phone stayed all night long with cm recovery menu display on.
after draining the battery, i plugged back charger and the phone in switched off state did show the regular charging animation and took the usual time to full charge.
after full charge I removed the charger, tried to power on the phone boot loops at 1+ logo.
4. without charger it can enter fastboot mode.
5. with charger it can boot into os, shows charging, led lit up, but after removing charger it won't stay long, also if opening camera it turns off.
6. even on powerbank it can boot up and stay switched on. and work normally (camera etc anything)
(7. while turned off and on charger the animation shows charging but the top led isn't on.) - I don't remember it lighting up on charging while switched off
8. the night before this issue occured, my phone rebooted twice while watching youtube. and in the previous nights also I noticed battery dropping overnight.
what all I tried,
1. fastboot flashed cos, - not solved
2. flashed using Qualcomm USB port tool - not solved.
3. ran the make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 command in twrp. - not solved.
4. erased and flashed persist.img - not solved.
so what could be the problem, opo is now my secondary phone, now using op3 as primary.
The battery is at its end of its life....replace the battery and all your problem will be gone...
you're not the only one that have experiences this problem (i have seen more then 10 people having the same problem)...last year and this year there a lot of people having bootloop problem due to dying battery...factory reset, flash stock rom and etc won't help you solved this problem...
i personally have this problem last year and after i replace the battery all my problem gone...i think Oneplus made OPO batteries only lasted for 2 and a half year....

thanks for the reply i guessed that, but still wasn't sure, can it be also due to any issues to board, anyway since i've done with flashing and all i'll try an OP service center, and hope it won't costs me big.

Nope it is not issues with the motherboard but batteries...the phone can be turn on like normal when charger is connected and goes into bootloop once the charger is disconnected....its a clear sign that the battery is dying...when it connected to the charger, it may look like the battery is full but it is not...just buy a new battery and all your problem will be gone...you can try flashing lot of rom, revert to stock or whatever you do in fastboot but it ain't gonna help you...it might boot normally but within an hour it will goes back to bootloop....
like i said before i was on the same pages as you last year...all the flashing stuff didn't work until i replace the battery....there no issues with the motherboard whatsoever....my phone still work atm without any bootloop problem...
feel free to go to OP services center if you want, if they tell you it was a motherboard issues then you have been screwed by the services center by repairing something that is still in good condition and you gonna pay more then just a batteries afterwards...

I have almost exactly the same problem. The thing is I cannot find a way to enter multirom recovery even on a charger. When on a charger it tries to boot into my primary rom but gets stuck on it endlessly.
Are you sure its the battery? I mean, mine charges to 100% when plugged in and doesnt seem to have any problem with charging. Mine did it a few days ago, it went into a bootloop for no reason. I havent touched anything for a year and it happened so randomly and lost everything I had on it...

Hey dude Thanks a lot... I was facing exactly same issue for last 2 days... I bought OPO on Dec 5 th 2014... I think its battery only works 2 years...
@iPusak Gaoq™, tried to get a suitable battery online but the shipping charge killed most deals, some were even counterfeits, so finally I decided to visit an op service centre, they replaced the battery with a new one, now my OPO is good as new. thanks again.
I was just going to post, about my issue, but the forum suggested your post. I read the first post, and yes, I am facing the exact same problem. Taking a picture and the phone shuts off. Vibrating from getting a notification and restart.
And the saddest part, the phone won't boot into OS if is it not plugged to PC or AC power.
My Opo is almost two years old. Can you suggest a good battery replacement for me?

Hard to suggest which batteries is good if you planning to bought it online cause there no way you can know whether the batteries you gonna buy is original or OEM...only when you bought the batteries in a retail store then you can see whether its original or OEM and yes the differences between both batteries is noticeable...

XZ premium froze, now won't turn on

Hey guys,
Have been using the xz premium (single sim edition) with unlocked bootloader and first version of Oreo ROM installed. The device froze the other day, then went blank. It won't respond to anything whatsoever (fastboot or flashmode) and I have pulled the battery leads and put them back again.
Any suggestions? I've had 0 water exposure and have no idea why this would be happening. Thanks in advance (=

You mean you opened up the device? The first thing you shouldve tried was holding the power button and volume up till it vibrates, if it wouldve vibrated. Since you say you have pulled the battery though that could only lead to either a dead battery or a faulty motherboard/hard brick somehow. Since you did nothing and the device just froze all on its own I cant say a dead battery would cause this as if it were the battery the device wouldve most likely powered off not froze.
Another thing that could be tried is to try power it on using just the charger. Also trying that without thw battery connected might help. If none of that works then the chances are its time for a motherboard replacement. Personally I wouldve just confirmed its death then sent it off to Sony for replacement. If the handset was completely dead and couldnt be recognised by PC then there wouldve been no way for Sony to verify that the bootloader was unlocked. Since you opened it to pull the battery that also would void the warranty. No matter how well you were to put it back together im sure there would be a way for Sony to verify if its been cracked open or not unfortunately.
I did a bootloader relock on my Xperia Z when I water damaged it and they never knew it had been unlocked and I got a replacement handset baring in mind that the device could be used just that issues occured with the volume buttons.
The most I can suggest is above. Either try the button combinations and charger methods, or considered a new device or motherboard replacement. Also if possible try the battery in another device if able to otherwise not much can be said without replacing. I hope this helps abit.
