Hi, anyone have solution to how to use LED Flip Cover and QI receiver at same time?
Both are using same pins
I had the same problem after I bought a bunch of S-View cases, then I came across THESE, after many weeks trawling, they have contacts on both sides so they're supposed to act as a pass-through.
I can confirm the LED cover works with the wireless charging receiver in the above link.
I did however make one minor tweak to get it working though. There are 5 pins to the left of the battery but only 4 are covered by the receiver with the 'pass through pin'. Because of the pass through pin, it raised your case a bit and as a result the 5the connector was having trouble connecting to the case. I ended up adding a small metal pin on top of the 5th connector so the case can touch the pin.
Just tested and everything works. Its awesome!
Tnx for info and link, but I was not able to order product from your link since they don't ship to Norway. But I found that company (TOMTOP) that sell this product have a site on Aliexpress too and ship to Norway
Price is just US $5.33

Guys, I've just ordered this type of receiver in oreder to use it with my LED cover.
From your experience: does this receiver cause any bulges on the cover? Or any openings near camera or heart rate sensor?

Could you post and pic of your modification as I am interested in installing one of these but not sure what you meant by adding a pin. Thanks.

I pulled one of the pins from an old wireless receiver that I had and placed it on the 5th pin. This allows the case to make contact with all 5 pins.
Looks like NFC is lost with this modification.

I made same thing from broken USB connector pin. Sorry, no photo. I can confirm it's working.
But! It looks like I lost NFC with this combination of Qi receiver and LED flip wallet.
Can you confirm that your NFC is still working?

I tested it out with S beam and it seems to work fine. Although I had to spend some time moving the phone around in order to get it to work. It seems to work near the bottom of the phone.

Answering my own question: yes, there is a bulge, and yes, there are openings next to the sensor. The receiver is not 0,5mm at the thickest place but more like 1-1,2 mm :/
Well, the quest continues.
So do it work flip led wallet with a Q1 receiver?
yes You just need to add small peace of metal for one pin. you can make if form kitchen alufolie
Can you post a picture of it and which receiver work? looking for a 1000mAh receiver
I bought this receiver as well and found that I had to mod two pins to get it to work. Also, for me the bulge added is annoying. The phone doesn't sit flat when its on a surface - rocks a bit. As for wireless function, it does work but very finicky for charger placement.

I have the same coil but only needed to mod one pin. That fifth pin for LED case. I do notice a slight bulge but nothing that is really noticeable when using or resting on a surface. I used a small piece of foil to connect the fifth pin. Works fine so far.
Hi guys (and girls)...
I will just add some info here because the subject matches the title.
I successfully combined the above devices into one, but I tried to do it more ... let's say, compact.
I'll let the picture show the final result.
In case you are wondering, I used one of these to carve in the back of the case in order to accommodate the Qi circuitry and coil.

[size=+1]Big Thanks to m055 who has posted a video guide on Youtube check it out from here[/size]
I've decided to go ahead and do the mod for the wireless charging as i've seen a few threads tempting me.
What you need is:
Palm Touchstone £5.24 (Amazon UK)
Palm Pre Touchstone case £3.49 (eBay)
Electrical Tape
Copper foil tape [thanks rj3005]
Solder Iron & Solder
You can also use thin wire to do this mod if you don't have copper tape handy.
This all cost me under £10 excluding the solder iron. You might find it cheaper shopping around.
I first took the induction coil out of the Palm Pre case carefully.
!!! Its very important that you peel the silver sticker off carefully and not cause any sharp bends which could cause cracking. You need this silver sticker to stay intact for the whole operation to work!!!
The top pin is positive and bottom is negative as shown in the picture, this is also the same on the note the top pin being positive and bottom negative.
I placed the coil in the center of the Note battery case I then placed the silver sticker over the coil as it was on the Palm Pre (this is very important that you place the silver sticker back over the coil as without it the induction doesn't seem to work.)
I then checked where the charging pins on the note meets with the case and marked it with a pen to indicate where the wires copper tape would have to be.
Using copper tape, I stuck two tracks going from the charging circuit to the charging pins positions, make sure you leave enough copper track to fold the tape twice over itself to create a spring going against the charging pins.
Solder the track to the charging circuit by tinning the end of the copper track and soldering it to charging circuit contacts, then cut electrical tape to size and place it over the copper track. After place the original insulation cover over the coil with the magnets.
I placed the battery cover over the Palm Touchstone dock and checked the voltage from the copper track with a meter (should be 5.6V any less means you have left the silver foil off or not placed it correctly) to check everything is working and the polarity is correct.
I placed it back on my phone and there you go, I now have wireless charging.
NFC works and magnets do not affect the phone testing the S Pen and Compass seem to operate all good.

EDIT: nm8 has just posted a solder less alternative [MOD] Note 2 Wireless Charging [Origami style][No Solder]
You can use the Palm Pixi case to do this mod but its very important that you double check the polarity to the charging pins. Do not connect straight to the charging pins until your sure which pins are positive and negative, you could cause damage to your phone Info Regarding the Pixi

When I get home, I will have a look at the speaker cable but i'm not entirely sure, and for the solder I don't think the guage matters as you are only soldering on the charging circuit pins and creating a solder ball on the end of the wires. For the actual wires I recommend stripping the insulation off completly and then replacing it with heat shrink as this creates a thin layer of insulation.

Yes the back cover fits perfectly, you can not feel the coil or the charging circuit but you can feel a slight bump where the wires go but its not noticeable. Its quite a nice fit and handy as the Palm Pre modules lines up perfectly for polarity, you may even get away with having the circuit with the pins directly lined up to the note charging ports to prevent feeling the wires and just extend the coil itself.
What does it look like actually ON the Touchstone? It it stable?

I will post a picture of it when I get home, but it is quite stable on the touchstone it holds it up. It will come off the magnetic field if you physically knock it off but it wouldn't come off if you knocked the table or anything its on.

I think the speaker cable I used was about 1mm thick i will double check but 0.7mm would be best, but with a 1mm you hardly notice it on the case anyways.

Thanks for hte quick reply.
I have 2 concerns:
1. will 5.6v fry the battery sooner ? (forgot to ask the ouput amperage)
2. if the back cover bulges, it might crack the cover sooner or later..
what do you think ?
thanks

When I measured the output i didn't have a load on it, so I would expect a slight drop in the output voltage. I will measure the amps tomorrow, to see what its drawing I will plug it in to the Samsung 2A charger but i got a feeling its limited to what it can draw. I couldn't comment on whether it will fry the battery sooner but I will also measure the voltage to see if there is a drop.
The back cover has minimum bulge, hardly noticeable. You can always use thinner wire if your worried about the bulge like 'rj3005' mentioned about using 0.7mm. I highly doubt the cover would crack as its quite flexible in itself.

Can I just clarify one thing, do you mean the buldge is caused by the x2 cables that you soldered to the terminals and not the actual big circular coil (sorry don't know what its called). cheers

Yes the actual 'coil and charging circuit' doesn't bulge only the two cables you can slightly feel going from the charging circuit terminals to the galaxy note wireless charging ports.
Like I said the bulge is very minimal, nothing which concerns me but could be overcome my using thinner cable then what I used.

i cracked open the original samsung qi wireless back and attach the qi receiver to the flip wallet back, anyone is interested in more details please let me know
Guide?
I would love if you could go over the steps on how you integrated the receiver into the flip cover. In the video I see the flip wallet clock still works since it's tied to the magnet in the cover, not the back cover contacts (got creative with the Gear Circle to test this). Does NFC work correctly?
Also curious of NFC works.

Very interested in this answer. Would be a good dolar savings to reuse the innards and would be a great combo with the leather case (like the video.).
Steps and pic if possible?
sorry guys I've been busy past few days couldn't reply earlier. for your questions:
1. NFC works perfectly
2. Require the original note edge qi receiver (from the original case as there is no 3rd party qi receiver out there yet) as you can see below the qi receiver connectors need to match the phone's terminals (i.e. the L shaped below the sd card slot and the one above the battery
and regarding steps, unfortunately i did not take video or pix while cracking open the original case and attaching to the flip wallet but i''ll try my best to explain here
1. this is how the original case looks like (pic1)
2. use a knife to start cracking the 4 corners then sides of the plastic piece in the middle which has the qi receiver attached underneath and this is how it looks after detaching it from the case (of course the qi receiver should be there too but mine is already glued to my flip wallet now) (pic2)
3. you should fine the qi receiver is glued to the plastic piece (the left one in pic2) but can be removed easily (with care also!) by hand
4. on the flip wallet you should see a chip attached to it (pic3) please make sure that is removed before attaching the qi receiver on it as one of the qi connectors is at the same spot so without removing the chip on the flip wallet you can't attach your phone properly to the wallet
5. after removing the chip, place the qi receiver on the flip wallet at the same positions as where the connectors should be touching the phone's terminals (pic4)
6. DONE!
NFC works, wireless charging works and edge panel responds to the flip wallet cover! do it at your own risk but it is pretty straight forward!
ENJOY!

that is correct, note 4 has different terminals than note edge. and for your information, i have checked with 2 companies which manufactures 3rd party qi receivers for samsung phones both said they do not have plan yet on making one for edge (guess from profit perspective edge is a limited production phone) and that is why i went ahead to DIY one using the original note edge qi case

From the pictures it looks like he used a type of frabic tape.
I'm sure he will chime in with that he did.
I thought about doing this from the start , I don't like the thickness of the charging backs. So I was going to rip the guts out and put in on the OEM back.
But that's alot of money just to rip it apart.
I had the thin small pad for my Note 3 and it only cost about $10. So I think I'll wait on the note edge buntil they get the thin pads aslo.
My qi case came in and I did the mod for the wallet case.
It works perfectly! Thanks OP!

Just to be clear this mod was done from an Edge Qi back cover to a waller case back cover. Im guessing to avoid the extra thickness added by the Qi backing.
Can this be done to the original backing that comes with the note edge so that I can have Qi with the simple backing and no extra thickness

This could be a quick and easy way to do this whole mod but I think I want to keep the ability to use the usb port in case I need quickcharge or use the port for mass storage.
Also does anyone know what amperage the OEM case allow. Cause I saw that Samsung official Qi chargers are 2amp but most only deliver 1amp from what i know.
On bottom L sharp pins; pin of inside is + 5v and pin of out side is ground. you can mod samsung s5 wireless charger receiver to install. (pin of wireless charger receiver s5 is opposite compare to note edge). so i trip off plastic cover of receiver and pull up pcb sidedown to made compatible pins .
Cons: due to wireless receiver is 1.0 compatible=used ic bq5101xx = max 1000ma.
note edge can handle 1700 ma so receiver get hot;
Solutions: used usb charger under 1000ma or connect 2 wireless receiver in parallel way. (1 up and 1 down; coils are center and symmetric).

I am just wanting to make sure I am not losing my mind. I have the official wallet case and have an added Qi card for charging. The card seems to block one of the ports needed for my case and now the smart chip doesn't seem to recognize open or closed...or that it is even present. Does the Qi card negate the smart chip in the case?
as an added bonus, I took out the Qi and it still doesn't work so now I am not sure if it is my case
I too have the OEM wallet and a 3rd party Qi receiver for the Note Edge and would like to know if anyone has had any luck getting them to work together.
Yes, those doesn`t work together. I use the old Note2 3rd party Qi receiver with my Edge. I did some wiring and it works fine with original flip case.
I am trying to do same thing. Could you tell me what you did? Did you add any resisotor to the ground?

Great! it works now. I had to raise two ID connectors to make sure they touch wallet connectors.

Glad to hear that you get it to work. It Was wery easy, isn`t it? And didn`t cost too much
PS: Dont forget to hit thanks button
There don't seem to be any OEM Qi backs left., which is what I wanted. I got an aftermarket one, which is as thin as the stock non-wireless back, but that 1) doesn't fit all that well; there's always a gap at one corner or other, depending on which end I start with when putting it on, and 2) is at least moderately durable.
The one I have is starting to split, 3 months in. It charges fine (800mA at 5VDC, which is better than my Note 3 with OEM charging back)
So... if you are using a wireless charging back, which one are you using, and how do you like it?
BTW, I've been using a number of these wireless charging docks ($10 on amazon) and they're great if you want a spot you can just plonk your phone down and have it charging.
Hello, I'm using this on my phone and it fits and works perfectly.

Here is the back I purchased.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DB89ACG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use it with this charger. I read a lot of reviews that the wireless charging is very slow and someone even said it was more like a toy... For me, the wireless charger easily charges my phone as fast as a 1 amp charger. You do have to have a minimum of a 1 amp wall adapter.
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Cha...90870&sr=1-11&keywords=wireless++fast+charger
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I use a rubberized case with my phone, so it is rather thick and have no issues using the charger with it.
I think the charger and back that bishop mentioned are fine. I used similar, but I actually stripped the charging circuit out of the back, removed the black plastic cover and put it into a standard (genuine) Samsung back, which I know fits perfectly. In fact, I bought 2 of these backs and stripped out the charging circuit in both. I put one in a standard back and another in a Samsung S-View cover because the Charging S-View cover from Samsung is no longer available. Now I have the choice of either S-View charging or standard back. charging for when I use the VR headset. BTW, looking at the circuit for the backs I used, it looks like NFC is in there as well.
I bought two different Qi receivers (and used the original back), and I regret it. The first one died after a month or two, and the second one heated up the phone while charging and ruined the battery.
So I broke down and bought Samsung's wireless charging back, and it has been working perfectly.

I also use this back, (sold under the h-ber brand name on amazon) and it works fine. Of course the back does fit a little tight, and sometimes, you have to put it on the bottom (near USB port) first, or the clips don't clip.

I have used a samsung fast charging qi dock, and a pleson fast charging dock, which both work fine, but will only charge at normal qi speeds due to lack of qi fast charge support on the note 4.
I get the original one for $60 in my country

What are you doing to hold those stripped pieces in place? Is it just packed so tight that you don't need anything or did you attach it somehow?

I just put the circuit panel onto the phone in the right position and then glue on the cover and then fitted the cover without moving the circuit panel. Press down well and the charging receiver is now glued to the case and in the correct position.

Thx a bunch for your prompt response. Sorry, what kinda glue is this? I know it gets hot back there and I've never been this best at choosing proper adhesive materials. I'm specifically using this setup for a contraption I found for the gear. I purchased a built in back but don't trust it's quality. Here is the gear contraption. It will be my 4th fan setup but this time, wifi charging is a possibility:

I used double sided tape when I did mine - not quite as permanent as glue, just in case it moved before the glue set.
Heya,
So I have ordered a Promate MagMount to have the phone attached securely on the front, I went with a magnetic holder as they seem to be much better than traditional phone holders for cars (as the clips on the sides sometimes scratch and such the sides).
My question is, does anybody have experience with using a metallic disc on their phone/case and used it with a wireless charger?
I was first thinking of attaching the metallic disc on the back of the phone itself, then thought about keeping the metallic disc between the phone and the case (without attachment) and then finally thought of just sticking it on the clear cover case itself.
As I charge the phone wirelessly with the case attached, will the metal interfere severely with the wireless charging and cause some sort of hazard or damage to the phone? Or can it work without any issues?
I use the Spigen magnetic vent mount and have the piece of metal in between my phone and the Spigen Ultra Soft case. I cannot use the wireless charger as the piece of metal interferes with the charging. If you put the piece of metal on the case and take your case off when you charge it will work fine.
By the way, what is the big advantage to wireless charging? I've used it for a few days and it doesn't seem to have any advantages. I can't even use the phone while it's charging. If you plug it in you can at least use the phone while it's charging.

Nothing super special except that it just looks cool and you can immediately pick up the phone and go, without the need to disconnect any cables.
Well, taking off the case again and again would be hectic for wireless charging...Damn would have to look for something or place the metallic sheet above the battery area and such...

Also don't forget about electromagnetic field which is used by wireless charger
Even if it will charge with this metal plate, it will heat up metal and battery.
Be careful when you use wireless charger
I enjoy my magnetic holder. It's in a perfect location and the phone attaches nicely to it. I can see it perfectly for navigation. I'll gladly give up wireless charging for it.

Wireless charging is no advantage for me either. It takes no time to plug/unplug. Mag mount is so worth it.

I have an Airdock 2.0 and while it does work, it just not work to charge at high speed. Holds the phone pretty well in my case.
You can have wireless charging and use a magnetic mount. You'll need to place the metal plate near the bottom of the device. I have mine there and have no issues with wirelessly charging.

I will try that.. thank you! I have a small round plate and a larger rectangle one.. use the small round one right?

Both work fine, the rectangle one needs to be long side down for the wireless charging to work.

I've tried that in the past. Unfortunately, this thing called gravity flips the phone upside down.

No, I'm using the Maxboost mount. Maxboost 2 pack
Hey guys, I had the same issues too, so I had to take off the case every time I wanted to get my phone wireless-charged until I happened to see a blog: No One Will Tell You These Tips on Selecting Magnetic Phone Mount (But You Can Learn Here), where shows how someone solved the metal plate problems by embedding it in a case, so the metal plate won't interfere with wireless charging anymore whilst you keep the metal plate working as always. which truly impressed me a lot, to be honest, this is the solution what I've been looking for. Hope this blog is useful for you too.
MagCase
Few months I got a Magcase from my brother for my birthday, which works well on my phone to date. as my brother told me that this case has the metallic plates embedded in so that the case can work both with the magnetic car mount and with a wireless charger without affecting the ability to charge.(not sure about it but at least this case saved me up from looking for a stuff combining wireless charging and magnetic car mount), loviiiing it
Went through this myself with a Galaxy S8 I had just for one month. Personally, I decided to opt for another mount, since I use wireless charging a lot, if the phone I have supports this. My solution was to pick a regular air vent mount and kept the phone with a Spigen case on it. No scratches at all and it keeps the phone very steady, while I can still enjoy wireless charging.
Metal heats up the phone during wireless charging...so I take the case off while wireless charging...however my s8+ motherboard conned off not sure because of magnetic car holder...any inputs if magnetic car holder can damage s8+ which also has wireless charging ability...
