So I bought a Note 4 from someone from craigslist and checked the IMEI on T-Mobile's site and it checked out as OK. I went straight to T-Mobile and activated the phone and they even ran the IMEI there too because I told them I bought it off craigslist and they offered me insurance. So I have been using the phone for over a month and I ended up cracking the screen but it still worked and the next day my phone started saying "No Network" and when I called T-Mobile they told me the phone was blocked by them due to non-payment.
So I have a few questions.
If the IMEI checks out on a phone and then they stop making payments a month later how are you suppose to buy a used phone safely?
If I make an insurance claim and they send me a new phone, will that phone be black listed also?

I have been trying for 3 weeks to get a replacement for my phone since the GPS doesn't lock or loses signal every 2 minutes while driving (I need gps for my job). And now data has been cutting out every so often even in great service areas.
So 3 weeks ago I went to a local store to get the phone replaced thinking I had 14 days from when I received the phone. Nope they tell me its when they shipped it, never mind that it took 6 days for the phone to arrive. The store tried to replace the phone with a new one anyway after I told them how long it took to ship but said they would have to knock me off unlimited to do so and there is no stock refurbs available so come back in a week.
Later I call customer service and get the same answer and they tell they will call me back. After calling in 3 times with no returned calls, the 4th guy finally called me back today, but said there is no white ones in stock do I want a blue. I tell him no and he says wait until next week for him to call me back.
something seems wrong with this.... is there any recourse? Can I escalate the case somewhere?! Doesn't seem like most people have an issue getting a replacement. what's going on

They're just being assholes to you.
Have you contacted Samsung to see what they can offer you?
I got the same story regarding the 14 days from "date of shipment" when I asked for a replacement. When I pressed further (I was seriously considering ATT at this point) he came back and said the "system" allowed me to get a new one - whatever that means.
At least you found a rep that agreed to get you a new one. Hopefully it only takes a week - make sure they note their agreement to get you a replacement in the notes. They will honor promises made in the notes by a previous rep.
It kinda sounds like you gave them the impression that you did something wrong to it and that you need to buy another replacement. If it doesn't work correctly, they just mail you a replacement as long as you're in the warranty period which is a year I think. I was six months into a phone, had similar issues as you, went to vzw store, they confirmed and shipped me a replacement the next day. Why the heck are they even bringing up your data plan/contract? That has nothing to do with a replacement phone at all. Almost sounds like they're trying to 14 day "swap" rather than warranty "replace".

So i traded to a nexus 5 from my gs4. everything was good yesterday buuuuuut.
today, and i dont know what time, i havent been able to make calls or texts. everything else works.
called customer service, walked me thru some troubleshooting... no luck
went to the store, they tried doing some stuff, took out the sim and put it back in. worked for a sec. then no workie.
did a factory data reset, same deal. cant call, get calls or text.
i get this message when i call my phone or try calling from my phone "we could not complete your call, please try again"
its weird it will off and on let me call out from my phone. but cant get calls or texts
going to the store where i got it tomorrow.
anything have something similar happen?
Sounds like a hardware problem. DEMAND FOR A REPLACEMENT!
When I bought my second N4, I had a similar problem. It would connect to 2G but never 3G. LG replaced the whole unit for me
no wonder why he traded his n5..
Maybe issue is with the sim card. Tried another one?
I had a similar issue with a phone last year - turned out it was my Sim Card as mentioned above. To be on the safe side I would contact your carrier, request a new sim card but also request a new handset. A new sim card should only take two days to come maximum and you should not be charged for this, providing you are on contract and paying monthly.
+2 on the sim idea

Not really a question, more of a statement....
So, my Pixel arrived today from Verizon.... Cool, lots to play with before I am basically locked up away from home the next two days.
Open the box, nice phone, start it up, did a factory refresh (do this every time now for all new phones), and then inserted the SIM and started it up again...
The Phone Activation for the phone doesn't work. Thought at first, it was due to low signal, it not very strong where I live but never been a problem before... still nothing.
Call the 800 number it shows... talk to the rep and there is something weird, the IMEI and ICCID numbers are not in their database... how that happen?
Rep finally says I can take the phone in to a store and they will fix it (Can't do that today) or they can fill out paperwork to get it corrected. 12-24 hours.
Hmmm.... really no choice as I will have no access at all tomorrow and friday so I have to wait.
Hard to fathom that a phone from Verizon shipped to me from them is not properly setup in their database. Still using my Nexus 5X for phone but have the Pixel all setup ready to go when it activates. Just can't use it as a phone yet.
Finally, it activated. BTW, really like the phone a lot.
Well this turned out to be just a waste of time.
A day or two later the phone would only get 1xRTT and no celluar data. No calls in, no calls out... This was the day before Xmas. So the day after they had one on hold for me since stores were running out of stock. I went into the store they insisted I change the SIM card first and it seemed to work,
But when I got home it started to do the same thing. Other phones didn't have any issues there.
Naturally, the phone on hold was now gone. Told they would ship out a replacement... Nothing... checked almost daily and they said they were waiting for phones.
This morning, I was told it would not ship until the 20th of this month which would be almost a full month since I got the phone.
I canceled the order.
Within the past 2 weeks my phone had been dropping calls or not being able to receive calls at all sometimes. Let me try to explain. Sometimes when I try to make a call my service will cut out and say "out of service area" and not but 5 seconds later it will show I have service again. I can send text messages surf the web anything but make phone calls. At&t doesn't believe that it's on their end. Whats going on??
You are not alone, I have similar problem. I went to Sumsang center in Bestbuy last weekend, the Sumsang guy there told me he loses DATA randomly too, he knew at least 3 people having the same issue since last OTA. And they are all AT&T users, all S8+ phone, the Samsung guy told me they already know this situation and investigating it, hopefully they will push another update soon.
For now, I reboot my phone every morning before I leave my house.

It's very frustrating. I've talked to samsung on the phone and they told me I could send my phone in and have it tested but I feel like it won't do anything. And they would send me a refurbished phone back not a brand new one like the one I purchased. I drop connection all the time during calls, when I try to make calls it doesn't matter. The people at at&t are no help.
Add me to it. And to me it is an intermittent problem. It does not happen all the time. I am on Sprint, and I have the phone unlocked through Sprint since I paid it off. Not sure if unlock changed anything.
Anyone got the problem sorted out?
S8 plus out of service area
Hi.
I also have the same problem and this is not a software problem this is hardware problem you need to change the boot.
Theirs no other way
I had a similar issue. My phone showed I had network coverage but I kept missing calls. My provider sends a text message on missed call. I would call my number, phone would not show anything and i'd get a missed call sms.
I took it to the local samsung authorized service, they replaced the motherboard, the display and battery on warranty. Basically I have a new phone now and it works.
So I have a Z Fold 2 I bought on ebay. I believe its a Verizon device however the model number is SM-F916U1, and I know Verizon unlocks their devices after 60 days. I've had the phone for about 45 days now. Well whenever I try to use my cricket sim card in it it will register on the network just fine and everything works for about 10 to 15 minutes and then it kicks me off the network and locks it up. Do I need to get my phone unlocked or is there something I'm overlooking? Can someone point me in the right direction I've been Googling the hell out of this and can't find an answer.
I would guess it's a stolen z fold did u check the imei? When I bought my z fold 2, i got an empty box from ups. Had to file a police report and everything. I didn't buy from ebay but best buys. I never had a ups package stolen until this phone so if I were to guess the one u bought off ebay might not be good.
Yes that was the first thing I did its not stolen and jts fully paid off.
I'm completely wrong then. Sorry I'm not sure possibly 60 day thing like u said. Can u try a different sims?
Yeah I've tried different sims and they all work except after 15 to 20 minutes it suddenly kicks me off the networks and says network locked. When I first got the phone I put a Verizon postpaid sim into it hoping it would somehow help but idk. The problem here is I don't know when this phone was originally purchased or if it was ever activated on Verizon before I got it in my hands. Is there any way to maybe find that info out?
Most likely you'd need to contact Verizon to get them to unlock it on their end, however since you weren't the original owner, they might refuse to do it.
I did contact them and they said on their end the phone shows as unlocked.
