Invisible texts?? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! So basically... about a month ago I got a new text message (regular default text message) on my Xperia Z3. I went to the text message list, to find there was no unread texts atall. The most annoying part of this is that on my lockscreen it takes up my message (where I could see part/beginning of the text), so when I now get a new text it just says "2 new messages" and never actually displays the text. This has been going on for about a month now and I have just dealt with it, hoping a new update would come out and maybe correct this. Now all of a sudden today....I have received another text! so now there are two texts I can not view or don't even exist. Any ideas? not a major problem I understand, but quite the inconvenience. Plus I could not find anyone else having the same problem online.
Thanks!!
Also, If you need any pictures to help analyse the problem don't hesitate to ask.

Have you tried clearing data and cache for the Messaging app?

Will that erase all my texts?

It may well do. Use an SMS backup tool from the Play Store first or the phones own?

Can we text with our Note 10.1?

Before this tablet was released and the rumors were flying about specs and features, I thought I read somewhere that we would possibly be able to "tether" in a way from our phone and be able to send texts from our tablet using our cell phone's number basically. Does anyone else remember hearing this rumor too and better yet, is this feature available and anyone know how to enable it?
Try MigtyText if your phone is android. Works for me

Check the MightyText URL to get past the android install screen

Yes it possible, I've been using Google voice free from the play store, just set up Google voice which will give u a gvoice phone number and you should be able to make calls and send text messages over any wifi. The only down side is that you can't receive calls so if somebody calls they will be asked to leave a voice mail and you will receive a email with the voice mail to download and listen to.. In my opinion its awesome cause its free and it works

Thanks but it says that the app is not compatible with my device. Can you dropbox the apk for me?

You install the app on your phone, not the Note
Then you send texts from the web page on the Note
See my screenshot on previous post

One word answer: YES
Tablet Talk Paid app, syncs to your phone via wifi or bluetooth. Text directly from your Galaxy Note.
MySMS (Tablet) Syncs between the mysms app on your phone. Allows for SMS and MMS to be sent from your tablet or desktop, all free.
TabletSMS Same as mySMS, text from the tablet directly, desktop, or phone. Be warned that this is $5/year.

I always had to have it open to receive texts. If I closed it and forgot I would find texts days, weeks, or months later. Nice idea, poor implementation. Needs to work like regular text apps. If I close them I still get notifications.

So many of the products Google puts out like Voice seem very half-assed to me. For instance voice mail transcription in Google Voice is so pathetically bad its funny. I get a voicemail from my mom asking me to get her a salad for lunch and the transcription is something like:
"Hi, mom on mars. Pick up syringes for grunge."

Just purchased this one and it is amazing! Sms's are sent instantly via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi depending on your choice of how you connect your tablet to the phone using the app.
The best thing is, if you use a Bluetooth headset and it is paired with your phone, this app allows you to call and reject phone calls from the tablet. The phone can be left in your pocket as the app also has caller id. The calls are handled by your phone and controlled by this app. Also those who wish to use the new Bluetooth pen for calling can use it too via this app.
Who needs 3g anymore? Not me, that's for sure, I have saved myself £100.

Just purchased this. Cannot find app in Market on my Galaxy S II to download it. Not in MyApps there either.
I'll attempt to sideload it from my tablet.

Huh?
I just went to the Play Store on my PC and it basically says the "Tablet Talk" is pretty much compatible with every phone ever made EXCEPT the Epic 4G Touch. WTH? Why not? Tried emailing the developer but their email link is broken.
Not happy.

Ok, their customer service emailed me the .apk. I installed it on my phone. Made my phone and tablet discoverable to each other and paired.
Tablet Talk cannot connect to phone bluetooth.
I noticed when setting things up they ask for a password, but at no point in the connection process is the password requested. Makes me think I am missing a step in here somewhere?
I'm using Tablet Talk on my Epic 4g Touch through my Galaxy Note 10.1 & Nexus 7 tablets via WiFi....
I just wish it had the ability to do MMS, the only shortcoming. Other then that its a great program.
Yes I was finally able to connect via wifi. Bluetooth would not work.

That is strange because I was not asked at any point to put in a password. Maybe it is the phone model causing the issue.
The developer has an active forum where you can ask the questions as to why you are having issues, link below:

Not Getting Facebook Notifications!

Hi,
I am having an odd problem on Carbon ROM, where i cannot receive notifications from Facebook Messenger. Friends are sending me stuff, but i am not seeing it until i manually check Facebook myself. My Moto G has been on many different ROM's, such as Nexus G+, Ehndroix and the stock UK + US ROM's, but i have never had this problem before. It must be something with Carbon ROM that is causing this problem. I have checked the Messenger app to ensure that all notifications and sounds are enabled.
Any suggestions??
Thanks
Can you receive whatsapp messages and other push notifications without a problem?

Yeah, absolutely. I'm able to get notifications from all my apps, other than Facebook! Strange isn't it.

Alternatives to HTC Stock sms/mms Messaging?

Ok, so I had a Samsung for about a year and its stock messaging app worked very well with my 7k+ messages-- there was no lag or delay in opening up threads-- buttery smooth. I decide to come back to HTC with the M8 and it chokes every time I open a large thread taking about 20 seconds before I can see the thread. Is there messaging replacement that I can use that will handle large threads more gracefully, say by showing the most recent messages first and then pulling messages as I scroll back in time? Is there a flashable AOSP messaging app available? Is it possible to flash the Samsung messaging app on an HTC device?
Uninterested in the following-- if you're going to propose any of them then just move along and find another thread to expend your energies:
1. Commercial "solutions"
2. "Why would you want to do that anyway?"
3. "Hangouts works great"
Thanks in advance.

I've been using HoverChat. I like the fact that it gives me a floating window to respond so I do not need to leave the current app. Everything seems to work fairly well.

If it takes 20 seconds to open a thread, I would think you've got something wrong. But, Evolve SMS isn't bad.
I would recommend the verizon messages app because it allows your text and pic messages to send over wifi. My next choice would be handscent or go sms pro.

Ditto. I initially RAN from VZW messaging app but then I found that I quite like it. And in roaming areas I can text on wifi. And when I am texting at work I am able to text from my computer.

I just tried it and I'll be keeping it. I have Hangouts as my default sms app on my phone using google voice and this sent my message via gv on hangouts. I've been looking for such a thing. Thanks for bringing my attention to it.

I'm assuming it uses whatever you have set as your default on your phone.
