may s.o has already red this is coming until midle of 2009 it should be here final.
its made for "highend sp" but in cnet.com it has been said that 16mb of ram and 200mhz would be needed.
this flash 10 is optimatet for arm processors. is the vox processor a arm processor(dunno!).
may you findnews on this
oh wow from 7 to 10?
maybe now we can watch straight up youtube videos?
it is said so..
i think we might need an plugion for pie. but lets ahve a wait and see
Well, actually from 0 to 10. Flash 7 is only for Professional devices (and you can't really count Flash Lite...). And yes, the processor of the Vox uses the ARM architecture!

What would be your preferences for buying one?
Well, I haven't decided yet. I need to get my hands on the Touch HD and see how big it is. But right now, I am probably going to get a Touch Pro. The full keyboard is something I don't want to miss!!!
Hey All. Just a quick thought I had. With the hardware specifications of the G Tablet, is it powerful enough to mimic the Viewpad 10 and dual boot win (XP of 7) and android? I know that the processors are quite different, but would that make it impossible?
Just a thought.
Thanks,
Scott

No. Yes.
What would make it possible: Swapping the guts of the Viewpad 10 w/the gTab...
Viewpad 10 only run Android 1.6 anyways, which is VERY old, as that is the only version of Android ATM that supports x86 processors...

Not possible yet, you wouldn't want to try to run Windows under an emulator, trust me.
However, a Tegra 2/ARM build of Windows 7 is apparently in the works - see this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10011358#post10011358
Also, there is apparently a Windows CE build already for Tegra 2, I'd check out the developer forums at NVidia if you're really curious. I don't know why anybody would want to run Win CE on their G Tab, but it'd be a cool hack if you felt like doing it. Drivers for touchscreen would be an issue of course - you'd have to write them for the G Tablet touchscreen (which will be at least vaguely plausible after the kernel source release this week), or find something compatible out there. Basically, a lot of work for no real return.
Do you think that Windows 8 tablets will be able to download and play old school games like Baldur's Gate?
wow! very nice
I don´t think that it will have in build support but I think there will be enough devs, who will make emulators for those games ,especially in ISO format!
So I think there is hope if windows 8 tablets grant enough freedom for programming

Windows 8 and future
The final of 2012 the next generation of Windows is showing the new, the bad is the theme is this last years of humanity (mayas) in tables Windows 8 is the best way of speed and files collection, but Windows 8 in Phones not shore the best way of have this information, iOS And Android the best of world, Windows 8 in desktop is the next and fresh OS great performance, but the future not yet whiter.
I'm very skeptical of Windows 8 right now. If the mobile OS is anything like the desktop OS, I'll have to pass.
Most likely
Isn't android already able to do this? Windows 8 isn't even here yet. I would think that it can, as long as it is somewhat open similar to android. Windows expressed their desire to allow old windows programs to still run on windows 8, so i think compatibility is one of their priorities.
that would be amazing if so

Windows on ARM, not at all. It will be a 3 year late ipad.
No emulation, no ISO, locked bootloaders with advanced security features throughout.

Maybe Motorola should make it
Keen to see if Windows 8 will work on the TF101, but lacking the technical ability to attempt to install it, I'm wondering if anyone here has attempted to run the Windows 8 Consumer Preview on their transformer?
If so, how did you do it and did it perform?
Consumer preview is 32 and 64 bit not arm so it will not run
Microsoft also said that the bootloader on arm devices will be locked so you will only be able to get windows 8 arm on devices that come with it
I saw on a reputable website a picture of Windows 8 running on a tegra 2 tablet with 1gb ram. So hardware wise, TF101 might be capable.

Not really. Windows 8 for ARM will not be available to buy separately. It will only come pre-installed on devices.
Perhaps someone skilled will be able to get it to work in some highly unofficial way but they'd have to find a way around the secure bootloader requirements and also figure out how to get hardware drivers for the device in that Windows 8. Unlike Android, Windows 8 isn't open source so 'hackers' will have a harder time getting it on different devices.
Tablets are not like PC's with fairly long upgrade paths available. You buy it as it is and hopefully the manufacturer will keep supporting it for a while with upgrades.
Asus/Microsoft will prefer you to buy a new tablet with Windows 8 pre-installed when it becomes available.
I am not even sure I want to run Windows 8 on a tegra 2 tablet.
Maybe it's just me but tegra 2 already feels pretty slow.
Or you have this for have a windows 8 theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555220
hello guys. today I think that maybe we can install Windows on Transformer but the space (16gb) maybe may stop us. I don't know if this guide works (developers, give me your opinion).
So, we install Ubuntu on TF101, then we install Windows in a second partition through this guide (it is translated in english, so there are translation error):
http://translate.google.it/translat....ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?t=482754&act=url
then through ubuntu boot we can use windows.
what do you think?? through windows 7 we can install windows 8
I do not take any responsibility if someone wants to try
sorry for my english if there are errors
No. This won't work. Windows doesn't run on ARM, and Windows 8 will never run on the TF101.

But with grub (ubuntu boot) we can make dual bott Ubuntu-Windows on PC, so it will be on TF101 if you saw the link But if it don't work... :/
What he means, and this is unfortunate, that the physical processor of the TF101 doesn't support any form of windows. When you buy a processor there's generally 3 types you can get, (x86, which is 32-bit os and general last 10-11 years) (x64, which is 64-bit os and generally new) and (ARM, which is a low-power Mobile processor.) The tf101 has an ARM, and windows os's were built for desktops and laptops running x86 and x64 processors, which are incompatible.
Hope I've shed a little light on why this just won't work.
whitekidney, if MSOFT decides to release a generic ARM version of win8, it will run on the TF, I swear it :!!!! lol

No.
As I said. Windows 7 and below doesn't run on ARM processors.
It will _never_ work because of the hardware that is in the TF101.
Windows 8 ARM won't work either because it requires safe boot, and there's a 99% chance that it won't support our hardware.

With Windows 8 RT??? If with it works, I can wait and try with it.
but, before you said this, did you try it??if you don't try, you don't know anything
Win 8 RT for ARM hasn't been released. Go ahead and brick your transformer trying to install it if you like :]
Seriously, it won't work until ARM has been implemented, give it time.
Windows 8 will be running on an Asus tablet at some point in the near future. However, I doubt it will ever run on our current Transformer.
Windows 8 RT (the ARM release of Windows 8) will only support systems that use (U)EFI. The TF101 doesn't. There is no way to get it. Therefore, even though the TF101 is an ARM device, and a version of Windows will support ARM, it will still not work as this device does not meet the minimum requirements. No amount of tweaking will get around that - it is an engineered limitation at a low level of the OS.
if you want windows 8 on an asus transformer wait for the asus "transformer Book"
From what I read in the link I'm providing below, Windows 8 RT will only be available pre-installed on PCs or tablets. To get it on our current TF101 or TF201 doesn't sound to be possible without someone breaking some rules somewhere.

he was talking about installing xp or a previous version in the comment and yes windows will run on arm but not on the transformer as windows RT is installed by the OEM and can not be changed or installed on any other platform
Windows RT has requirements the TF101 doesn't meet. Even if someone found a way to NVFlash it to the TF101, WindowsRT needs a minimum GPU that the Nvidia chip in the TF doesn't provide.

Much like OSX ( Apples OS ) requires Efi too right..... yeah ok. Typing this from my home built i7 rig ( with a regular bios ) running 10.7
My point you ask? Simple ...... efi can be emulated at the lowest level possible prior to the OS itself running. I'm betting one of our awesome devs gets things working soon enough.
Also to Dragon_79 -
"Windows RT has requirements the TF101 doesn't meet. Even if someone found a way to NVFlash it to the TF101, WindowsRT needs a minimum GPU that the Nvidia chip in the TF doesn't provide."
The tegra2 has more horsepower than the integrated Intel HD graphics. I seriously doubt that the GPU isn't powerful enough.
I'm eagerly waiting

NO. Windows RT uses a secure boot it will never run on the transformer
asus and acer devices
asus do plan on releasing a new transformer named the vivo9(I may be in coorrect about the name), and acer are planing on releasing a device with the same idea, both devices will run windows rt and possibly windows 8, but if the microsoft surface is anything to go by, a windows rt tablet is not that great
I'm also interested in this. I need a tab I can run exe:s on.

If you want to run your usual *.exe, you need a machine with the hardware architecture it was compiled for.
So if you want to run a program which was compiled for x86, you need a x86 tablet.
What you could do is emulating x86 hardware on the arm (there are solutions for that), but it would be awfully slow. You can use it for proof-of-concepts, but not much more.
