Last time I did this was about three years ago, I remember installing clockwork and loading the ROM from there.
Currently, I have my device rooted and a ROM selected, but I'm lacking the knowledge/means of loading the ROM to the device.
I've read that BMM (boot menu manager) is the way to go. The phone is rooted with stock 4.0.4. I cannot find BMM to be downloaded anywhere but off sketch looking websites I don't trust, and all different versions. I have no idea which is latest, or which version I need, or which of these plethora of sites google search lists is actually a trustable source to use.
If someone could provide a download link or something less vague that "BMM is the way to go" it would be greatly appreciated.
Here's all you need

Someone else previously rooted my 5113 running Android 4.1.1 I had problems with the Tab 2 turning off during screen timeouts, so I reset it to factory specs. That solved the timeout problem Now I am trying to root it using Odin and CF Auto Root. However, when I attempt to get into the download mode, after getting past the triangle, I get the message: "Downloading do not turn off target" and can't root with Odin.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this and get in the download mode? Also, I have been looking at rooting from within the Tab and have run into framaroot and Kingoroot if I can't get into the download mode. Does anyone have any opinions on those programs, or can anyone suggest a rooting method to me that won't require me to use the download mode if I can't get the download mode working on my Tab.

Your Download mode is working fine. that's how normally a working download mode screen looks like. since your tab was previously rooted, it's still rooted even after a factory reset. how? rooting makes changes to your tab's system partition while factory reset will only clear the data partition and cache partition. so the changes are still there, but it might be possible that the superuser was installed on data partition and got wiped out. so root won't be accessible. if there is some other error in odin, let us know.

those softwares are fine as long as your only goal for the tab is to stay on stock rom, delete the bloatwares and able to customize your apps. but if your goal is to get higher android versions and try custom roms, then you should skip all this and head to flash custom recovery, preferably the twrp. if you need more info, please search the forums a little bit, I am sure you will find lot of informations here.

Billysam,
Thanks for your very detailed and useful reply. I think what happened with my inability to use download was that I needed to install USB drivers. I have a somewhat weird situation now. I installed a root checker and it said that I was not rooted. However, I was able to install SuperUser SU and Titanium Pro Backup and the Titanium seems to work in that I can uninstall whatever I wish.
So, is there any reason for me to use the Odin method and re-root my Tab? Also, I want a rom with KitKat and screen mirroring. Are there any Roms you would suggest? Thanks again for your help.

Screen mirroring works with omni and slim roms as far as I remember, all are pretty much stable right now, sorry I can't suggest any one, you will have to figure it out yourself, cause tab 2 series behave differently with each rom for each users. cause for some it works the way it should, for some same doesn't happen. still I don't know how much truth is in this, cause I am saying this by observing the forum at a particular time. so it should be all okay right now.
since you want to upgrade, first keep a backup then flash a custom recovery the twrp one from android-andi website
Read the thread from here, I explained here pretty much more details,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/10-inch-development/rom-slimlp-t2969112/page162
Billy Sam, I was going to donate to you, but PayPal said your Ebay email address was inadequate. Please leave a different address and I will make a donation.
Also, I have read several comments and apparently the twrp for the 5110 will work for my 5113. If that is incorrect, please let me know.
One other thing. My tab has started turning off again when I have a screen timeout. If a new rom doesn't help the problem, what is the effect of a factory reset. You said before that my 5113 was still rooted. If I factory reset, should I do something with the SuperSu file or any other files to make sure the Tab performs like a typically rooted Android. Thanks again for your help.

Also, tried to download TWRP Manager and TWRP Explorer (both requiring a root) and neither would install on my tablet even though I have SuperSu and Titanium Backup Pro.

Yes, the 5110 twrp works on the 5113. Go to android-andi's page for the latest versions.

Yes, that is correct, the twrp is same for p5113 and p5110.
if you have noticed the android-andi's recovery page
there are 2 type of these one is The new "Common TWRP" (which won't be able to flash Roms compiled before 22.03.2016.)
and the second one is device specific where users of both p5110/p5113 use the same file.
(used to flash ROMs prior to the unified project)
Unified Project Roms and recoveries will generally be where you see
espresso3g -> P5100
and
espressowifi -> P5110,P5113 (so if you see espressowifi, it is safe to flash for p5113)

Like I said factory reset will hardly change anything with the system partition. Since the superSu apk and its data was installed on data partition and was lost after factory reset. you can just make sure that superSu is installed in system partition, when you open superSu setting you will find to move the app to the system option. once you do that, reboot and SuperSu will be there even after a factory reset.
Ah the donation. I never thought of that. so never really set up an account. will let you know when I do, it will up.

Some of the information might be broken when the data was wiped. did you check the twrp manager app was granted root access from the superSU app? if not try disable and enable the root access from the SuperSU app. if it's still not working.
Do you get any Su binary needs to be updated error? if that's there you will get 2 options to either select normal or cwm/twrp(since you don't have a custom recovery, try normal method only).
if it's still causing error then the easy way would be to root the tab again, but considering the errors you're already getting along with the changes, it would be a bad idea doing that without starting out with a fresh stock firmware. which would be a much better and safer option to go with.
You aren't using Odin with PC and trying things within the tab itself,(it would have been much better) but since you can't then there is the flashify app, that will help you to flash recovery.img format file(useful for updating the recovery on the go) from within and there is Mobile Odin too for the p51xx series. see if this works. but be careful while using these apps check you're flashing the correct file. the mobile odin can flash firmware from the tab itself.
Hey first time posting on xda devs and would like to know how to unlock bootloader, root the phone, and install custom ROM.
Now I have spent entire day backing up and searching the different people root but if someone can help me and point me in the right direction that would be great.
So I have a S3 from ATT Model: SGH-I747, Version: 4.1.2 JellyBean, BaseBand Version: I747UCDMG2, Kernel: 3.0.31 - 1300972. It is a stock ROM, I have never done anything to the phone at all before.
Now I will admit I followed a youtube video call "How to Root AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747!" by High on Android and I did everything in the video. I used odin v1.85, I did the PDA to the CWM.tar file, phone rebooted and I added the CWM superuser file and that is when I tried to get to CWM recovery mode and all I got was the phone's default recovery mode and not the CWM one.
From what I understand I believe I need to unlock bootloader first, but again this is a my first doing this and I hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Forum post state that you should follow guides that is exactly the same to the phone you would like to install custom ROMs.
Honestly I would like to ultimately be able to install a recovery mode that works with my phone that I am able to create snapshot image of my stock phone in case anything happens or I would like to go back to my stock image (which I highly doubt if everything goes fine) and install a custom ROM (I know there are different ROMs if someone can point me to where I can check out all the custom ROMs and not necessarily install those custom ROMs that would be awesome) and finally get rid of ATT loading screen when booting up the phone and install a custom boot loading screen, but of course I care more about getting the custom ROM install first.
If anyone can help that would be great.

ok, Thanks for the replay. To be specific I need a custom rom for my samsung (SM-G920R4) because I need to flush using Twrp 2.8.7.0 but I could not find a custom rom for my specific rom. What happened was my I just bought my phone from a dude who I met on sell and buy viber group here in Ethiopia (big mistake I know) and it worked fine for a day or so and then I logged my google account. After that my phone run out of battery so I plugged it and turn my phone on and when I did this I got frp locked it just bootloops showing me "custom binary blocked by frp lock". I took it to some phone fix guy and he managed to turn the frp lock off but it need to be flush he and also I tried to flush it using stock firmware with odin but that didn't work so I saw on xda thread that some guy was able to fix the same issue as me by using custom rom here is the link to that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/help-sw-rev-check-fail-device-3-binary-2-t3218678
But, I could not find a custom rom for my samsung model number SM-G920R4 us cellular, So I am begging this community of developers to save my phone if they have a custom rom for my model number? I am student and I can't offered to buy a new phone. Please help. Thanks for taking the time and reading this.
No problem. This should be perfect for a development member to pick up and assist.

bump. I mean, help? Same issue.
If the issue is you need a custom rom for that variant the op has then unfortunately you're out of luck, no one develops for that variant sadly.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Phone Boot Issue
Hi,
I'm new to XDA developers and pretty much a noob in Android related stuff, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 with TWRP installed. Last week it went into a bootloop or something and wouldn't go past the "Samsung" screen. I wiped the caches but it didn't work, did a Factory reset but no good either, then used ODIN to install a Custom ROM in it but ODIN gave errors and that didn't work either. Basically, there was an error displayed in TWRP "No OS Installed. Are you sure you want to reboot?" I tried solving this following a Youtube tutorial. The guy flashed a Cyanogenmod in his phone using TWRP, I tried doing the same but TWRP gave an error " could not find meta-inf/com/google/android/update-binary in the ZIP file" . I extracted that file on my PC and it had only an md5 file in it"
Well I've been searching the internet a lot but haven't been able to find any S6 (920-F) Custom ROM which has a ZIP file that contains The META-INF folder (I'm not sure what it does) but I'll be really grateful if someone sends me a download link for it.
Or if there's some other solution for a problem then please help me out.
Thanks
Allright. I've spent hours and hours reading about this and I'm afraid I didn't manage to find anything useful.
I own this model of samsung galaxy which isn't listed at all in any device list of twrp nor any custom-anything. So what I most managed to do was entering into stock recovery mode and try to install Supersu from the sdcard. Which lead to the failed-signature problem.
So here's my question; Is there any way of disable signature request in stock recovery mode? or maybe sign the apk so it handles it properly? The best solution would be to get a compatible version of twrp but I don't know..it doesn't seem to exist. I already tried some other J1 SM-Jxxx versions but they don't work. It just get stuck in samsung logo and no recovery mode loads ever.
Thank you very much for reading, I hope you can help me. I'm no expert.
Or I could try to find the most similar device to mine, so I can look for a TRWP prepared for that device and see if it also works in mine, hopefully. Any ideas?
Asu
What is your galaxy model actually? Maybe there will be more help coming if we know your device model
