[Completed] S3 ATT Like to know how to unlock bootloader, root the phone, and install custom ROM - XDA Assist

Hey first time posting on xda devs and would like to know how to unlock bootloader, root the phone, and install custom ROM.
Now I have spent entire day backing up and searching the different people root but if someone can help me and point me in the right direction that would be great.
So I have a S3 from ATT Model: SGH-I747, Version: 4.1.2 JellyBean, BaseBand Version: I747UCDMG2, Kernel: 3.0.31 - 1300972. It is a stock ROM, I have never done anything to the phone at all before.
Now I will admit I followed a youtube video call "How to Root AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747!" by High on Android and I did everything in the video. I used odin v1.85, I did the PDA to the CWM.tar file, phone rebooted and I added the CWM superuser file and that is when I tried to get to CWM recovery mode and all I got was the phone's default recovery mode and not the CWM one.
From what I understand I believe I need to unlock bootloader first, but again this is a my first doing this and I hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Forum post state that you should follow guides that is exactly the same to the phone you would like to install custom ROMs.
Honestly I would like to ultimately be able to install a recovery mode that works with my phone that I am able to create snapshot image of my stock phone in case anything happens or I would like to go back to my stock image (which I highly doubt if everything goes fine) and install a custom ROM (I know there are different ROMs if someone can point me to where I can check out all the custom ROMs and not necessarily install those custom ROMs that would be awesome) and finally get rid of ATT loading screen when booting up the phone and install a custom boot loading screen, but of course I care more about getting the custom ROM install first.
If anyone can help that would be great.

Galaxy Note 2 ROM delinquency?

I hat a gn2 for tmobile sgh-t889. I have been successful in rooting it and use the galaxy note 2 toolkit. I even was able to save myself from an incident using the toolkit to revert back to factory defaults after having flashed an image or ROM that rendered my SIM card useless or (rather) undetected...
Zealous to install a ROM that i could aesthetically be happy with i tried hyper pegasus and while it looks great my radio isn't working... I tried installing the radio zip files from the forum post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942132) via clockwork mod (using ROM manager to boot and manually configure) and it appeared successful but still, radio didn't work after rebooting.
So i decide, lets just start from scratch, but every time i use the gnu toolkit (v3.0) to reflash the stock recovery via ODIN, my phone is still rooted with Hyperdroid pegasus!
Im expecting a lot of "noob" thrashing because of this because I'm sure its somewhere in this overwhelming forum, but you know what bring it.
I just hope they are some people compassionate enough to help or maybe have been in the same situation, anything really can help
Thanks, appreciate the forum and really like hyperdroid, its just i need the mobile data and right now i just want to get back to stock. If you feel me, please and thanks!

recovery mode not accessible-N00B

i am extremely new to the rom/flashing/rooting scene. i recently used a "back door" rooting process, which worked great and i did all the recomended actions and apps: supersu titanium backup, root browser, etc. then i wanted to change my boot animation->samsung device-> flash a zip file to allow bootanimation.zip->samsung requires signature verification from stock recovery mode->cwm recovery(which flashes itself to the phone... curious why a custom recovery...or any recovery for that matter is even required if it isnt necessary...) -> recovery menu no longer accesible. i cant flash anything to my phone i tried changing the recovery to twrp but no dice. its giving me this dialog along with caution sign:"system software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone...etc" the phone is a samsung galaxy legend on verizon prepaid plan it is the jasper version of the samsung galaxy stellar. now for the question... What do i do so that i can flash files to my device?
i dont know much about unlocking the bootloader except that doing so with the wrong program will brick your phone and since im doing this recreationally on my primary phone i dont want to buy a new one. how can i regain access to my recovery menu/ unlock my bootloader?
its not a popular phone so i doubt anyone is going to be able to offer a one touch application to unlock the bootloader but any information would be helpful.if youre still reading this i thank you for any advice and i apologize if i : posted in the wrong section, offended anyone, or came off as a cheap experience-less n00b
EDIT: my phone is running 4.1.2 jellybean, baseband:i200ppvramh1, kernel: 3.0.31, build: jzo54k.i200ppvramh1, dont know if that will help any and before anyone criticizes me remember i am completely new to this forum posting thing but i guarentee i have scrounged this site the world over trying to get help but there just seems to be noone working on this problem the same as me...

Anyone have success installing CleanROM (or other) on 4.3?

Looks like the CleanROM thread is closed and therefore I can't ask questions there. I'm going to take a risk and ask here:
After installing CleanRom I began the boot process but it get's stuck on the screen that says Samsung and the blue LED is on. Have to remove battery to reboot back into Safestrap and activate the stock rom and boot into that.
At this point I think I should be asking a different question. Is there a noob tutorial/guide that takes someone with no knowledge through all the steps? I read so many things and everywhere I go I keep finding that our particular Galaxy s3 from Verizon is so specific and can only use certain tools.
To anyone who's willing to help me, this is what I've done so far:
1. I flashed the baseband (modem?) from VRUCNC1 to VRUCML1
2. Rooted with Towelroot
3. Installed Safestrap
4. Reboot into Safestrap.
5. Create ROM-Slot-1
6. Wipe ROM-Slot-1
7. Installed CleanROM-8.2 on ROM-Slot-1
8. Reboot into system. (This is where it get stuck on the Samsung logo and black screen)
I didn't do anything with firmware. I don't even know which firmware I have. But I did download d2vzw_VRBMF1_firmware.zip
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

[Completed] [Q] Galaxy S3 - Not booting into CWM after install

Hey guys, I'm having a pretty annoying issue with my Galaxy S3 (Verizon variant), and even though I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is, and that I screwed myself, I wanna know if there's another answer to what's going on.
As the title of this thing says, I tried installing Clockworkmod Recovery on my GS3, but I did it via the ROM Manager app, since I'd totally forgotten how to do it on my computer, and Odin 3.09 wouldn't use the .tar or .img files I tried using to install the damn thing (still haven't figured that out).
Anyway, I flashed the CWM file on the phone, installed it, and whenever I try booting into recovery, it says some unauthorized software is on the phone, and I need to take it to a Verizon store.
I'm pretty sure Verizon locked us out of our bootloader, and we need to unlock it before we can make mods like this, but, being that I haven't had a GS3 for two years, I didn't know that, and didn't look it up, like a n00b.
So, I think I just partially bricked my phone. So, yeah. That sucks.
Is there any way around this? Is there a way to revert back to the stock recovery mode, so I can try doing this whole thing again?
Some phone info:
It's the Verizon, I535 variant
Running 4.4.2, Kitkat
Build number: KOT49H.I535VRUDNE1
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to look for answers and ask questions is in your device specific forum. Please see this,http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3

Changing rom used smp900

Good day everyone, just got my note pro WiFi version? Already rooted and has custom kernel civz, tablet feels slow so I'm planning on changing rom maybe lineageOS but I'm concerned about the procedure because I'm not sure where I'm standing with every change done to this device, any help is appreciated I just don't want to brick this device trying to flash a new rom.
Currently it's running stock rom 5.0.2, 3.4.39 civz kernel and knox 2.3, if someone could provide a step by step on what should I do or check in this device to be on the safe road id really appreciate it. Btw I don't even know what recovery I have or how do I access it.
Bump
honestly most samsung devices are the same so id suggest getting the full stock system and using odin to revert to stock, from there start by getting a custom recovery and seeing what else you need to set up your rom
someone correct me if im wrong
heres the page for official stock "images"

someone told me that I just need to install twrp as it is and start flashing roms, dont know if this the best way to do it what do you think?
It could work just keep in mind that you don't know exactly what the previous owner did to it so if they installed a custom kernel you'll be stuck with that, could be a good thing could be a bad thing
You could always give it a shot and if it gives you problems go back to stock then TWRP then start rom-ing
