I feel so relieved today .. My A2 connection is rock solid for the last 3 hours.
I had tried everything before --- static ip , apps on phone etc to get rid of the intermittent disconnection issue. Nothing worked.
Solution - this worked in my case.
I flashed my Dlink Dir-615 router with DD-Wrt firmware.
I found a ready-to-eat guide for my particular model :

So check if there is a dd-wrt firmware for your router too. If not , there are other open-source firmwares too like tomato etc
Finally I set my security to WPA2- EAS .. and reserved a IP for my A2
and have set this static ip in my phone to be on a safer side.
I realized the issue could be with my router , when i had no disconnection at my friends place.
However i will still continue to face connection issues at college after the spring break. Probably android requires very strict wifi protocol adherence, and dd-wrt follows everything.

Thx. I also have another possible solution. Most of the time it is indeed a router problem. What worked for me was turning of all my other devices using Wi-Fi such as laptop and other things and connect my phone first and then turning on the other devices. Never had a problem since.

Wi-Fi issued resolved for Ubquiti Wifi router model Power ApN
I have a Asian MB865 unrooted 2.3.6. From day one I had difficulty connecting to my home wifi router a US brand called Ubiquiti for their model Power ApN. Tried many points to resolve. The issue was phone used to show connecting then dropping the connection immediately in a non stop loop. First thing I updated to the latest firmware for the router and changed network mode to "Bridge" and issue was resolved until then a new issue was randomly again the phone would not connect to the router & then would be ok again after 2 days. Frustrated I took screen shots comparing my earlier saved config file v/s the changed setting config file and narrowed it down to the point that the wireless setting Frequency Mhz was at Auto which I changed to 2452 mhz as fixed value and from thereon wifi is connected nonstop any time I want..

PS - Moto help personnel would first tell users to reset to factory settings by default which is not required.
I am pretty sure a lot of these wifi problems are router related. My Atrix 2 on Lithium rom would lose wifi connection on a Netgear N300 router but when I changed it to a Asus WL 520GU using dd-wrt firmware, the wifi problem was gone. However I have noticed after flashing the deodexed international Indian rom, wifi is good with both routers, so I would give the Indian rom a try if you have wifi problems.

I am using an Asian MB865 unrooted and I posted only for info for anybody using the Ubiquiti POwer ApN router to illustrate how I sorted the issue. Appreciate your input though.
make sure ur router is using Channel 1-11.. as A2 can only detect channel 1-11... Happened to me twice when my router auto use channel 12 which my A2 could not detect my network at all...
Just a heads up....
but if you are running Wireless N on your router/AP.....
make sure your Channel Frequency is set to 20MHz only... not 20/40MHz .. this causes channel banding and many routers and devices do not properly support this due to lack of strong standards for its use.
Change said setting and reboot router (especially if it doesn't ask to be rebooted)
Also, always make sure to update to the newest firmware for your router... companies like Engenius and Cisco/Linksys patch many issues as they crop up and many times it will patch a problem you have.

Flashed stock 5.0 on my nexus 5 using TWRP.
After the device booted up, i noticed it could only connect to 5ghz wifi networks and not 2.4ghz.
Any ideas why this is occurring?

Oh ok, I can't even see them. Do you get an error, or the phone just refuses to connect with an error msg?
On WLAN Settings there is a Menu called Advanced
There you can select if 2,4 GHz, 5,0 Ghz or automatically both.
Maybe after putting automatically you see them both?
I seet the WLAN, can put password, but it tries to connect and then stops connecting and always tries to reconnect from time to time...
Thanks guys! I worked it out. My routers 2.4ghz band was on channel 13, I changed it to 7 and it showed up. Don't understand why it couldn't see it before, but now it works! Hooray! Cheers!

Confirmed this is the fix for some dumb ass reason Google cant see higher that 11 channels by the looks of it. File under Bug or Friday coding issue!

Yeah, WiFi in 5.0 is major screw up. There are at minimum 3 major issues:
- 2.4 GHz band channels above 11 unusable
- https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=78702 (or https://code.google.com/p/android-developer-preview/issues/detail?id=1548 reported on developer preview)
- https://code.google.com/p/android-developer-preview/issues/detail?id=1620
And then there was that excessive power consumption related one - supposedly responsible for the 5.0 release delay.

My access point is a Dual band Virgin media router this provides "2g" and "5G" channels at the same time. Neither channel appears to connect to... but here is where it gets odd.
3 other 2G routers are showing up in the street just no 5G which should also be present for each router.
So to summarize my router AWOL all other routers only showing with "2G"
Any ideas have reflashed and looked for a radio binary that may do the job no luck.

You mean you flashed the factory image? If so, did you do a full reset before booting up? If not, try that first as it's all fine for me (and I did a full reset)
Ok the fix is simple enough seem Android cant see above 11 channels, change your channel to 11 or under and it can see the wifi on 2G. still working on the 5g.

So I just updated to V11.0.16.0 via fastboot.
I am still having the same problem (since my first upgrade to Android 10 about a few months ago) with my Wi-Fi. Every 20-30 seconds, Wi-Fi connection is lost. Then after a few seconds of waiting, it is established again. Then after 20-30 seconds, Wi-Fi is again lost. It goes on like that, endlessly until I just deactivate Wi-Fi and use mobile data... but this cannot be the solution, don't the Dev's have to notice something is wrong with Wi-Fi??
Is anybody else having the same problem with Wi-Fi?

Before upgrading to Q, on P, zero wifi' s issues ?
Maybe something' s changed in your area, new wifi signals could interfere with your device.
Have you checked other devices, like a pc or other mobiles ?
If your router is dual band you might try 5ghz, daisy works fine in my experience on 5ghz regardless of android version.
Did you try a reset from settings or recovery in these months in search of improvements ?
Personal curiosity, why did you use fastboot for updating your device ?

I only have a 2.4GHz router, but the problem is happening no matter which channel I choose on the router setup (i.e. the frequency within the 2.4GHz band).
We have several Wi-Fi devices in this household, including Wi-Fi repeaters to strengthen the Wi-Fi signal around the house... end user devices include multiple notebooks that use Wi-Fi access, a Smart TV and I also use another smartphone as a backup (Nexus 4) and neither of these devices does have any problems with the Wi-Fi.
Also, my brother is using the same phone the same way (with fastboot flash every time there is an update available) and he is having the exact same problems with Wi-Fi on his Mi A2 Lite.
Also, the Wi-Fi issues are the same when I am at the library and connected to a different Wi-Fi. So in my opinion it is unlikely that there is a problem with the Wi-Fi at home.
Around the time the Android 10 update became available, I started activating Bluetooth on my device 24/7. However de-activating Bluetooth has no effect and my Mi A2 Lite still loses Wi-Fi connection just as often.

Reset from settings only, but it should not matter because I am flashing all partitions every month, whenever an update is available and the problem is happening as soon as I completed the flash and started the device for the first time.

I am using Magisk to gain root access to this device. There is a guide on XDA that I follow for doing the update via fastboot, so that I can continue using Magisk. As far as I know, OTA update still fails when any of the partitions has been tampered with, for example by installing Magisk and patching boot.img.

If the wifi' s issue began for both devices, yours and your brother' s one, after you decided to use magisk on stock rom it could maybe be the monthly flash procedure the reason of such problem.
Have you tried to flash a custom rom and check if issue continues to occur ?
Personally, as reported, i' m using 5ghz wifi without any issues, zero disconnections on last stock december build.

I think I was not as clear in the post above. We have both been using the Mi A2 Lite with Magisk and Android 9 since December 2018. So we used Magisk to root the phones right when we got the phones. We had no issues with Wi-Fi on Android 9 with Magisk. Only when we updated to Android 10 in spring/early summer 2020, we encountered the connection issues.

I did not do that because most Custom ROMs that I found for this device have problems on their own with some features, and I like having a nearly stock Android experience. However, I get your point that this might be a good opportunity to check whether or not this is a problem with the official Xiaomi ROM or the Mi A2 Lite's Wi-Fi modem, i.e. a hardware problem maybe.

About custom rom, you could try los17.1 from Reujea0 or crdroid from Opal. Imo los and crdroid roms are very close to stock experience. Moreover, i recently read on los17.1 thread that dev would like to switch to next release, los18, anytime soon.
And yeah, you should avoid it isn' t an hardware failure.

Thanks for checking this out and getting back at me. I did some further research, as I found out that another user on mi.com (the official Xiaomi forums) reported that when updating to Android 10, he had problems with switching between WiFi's (switch took a long time, download/uploade rate on WiFi very slow, https://c.mi.com/thread-2854872-1-0.html).
I then disconnected the repeaters on my network and found out that WiFi on my Mi A2 Lite is working without any problems, as soon as the WiFi router is the only WiFi host and no repeater is used to extend the range of the WiFi network. Maybe there is a problem when the device is handed over between repeater(s) and router within the same WiFi.
The Mi A2 Lite is my daily driver. As soon as LOS reaches official status, I will flash it on my device and try it out. For now, I will just continue using Mobile Data.
I think after update phone has less lag. Still have to reboot, but it is a little better

Hi everyone, yesterday I decided to upgrade from the Redmi Note 8 Pro to the POCO X3 PRO, and everything is ok except for the wifi link speed, in my old Redmi Note 8 pro it was around 433mbps but in the POCO is 192mbps less than half the link speed.
The reason why I care about this is because I use Wifi File Transfer Pro to send and receive files between the PC and the phone because it's way faster than the USB transfer protocol even at 192mbps.
Update: I can reach 866mbps after a reboot in airplane mode no matter if I change the network to 2.4ghz I can always go back to 866mbps, but as soon as I disable airplane mode and my connection falls below 200mbps (whether it's by distance or by switching to 2.4ghz) I'm unable to go above 192mbps in WIFI5.
Temporary fix is to reboot with airplane mode.

Official rom (International, Europe, India)
ArrowOS
EliteOS
Xiaomi.eu (current rom)
Any Ideas?

So after a long time trying to fix this problem, I found the solution, it worked in MIUI 13.0.7.0 global.
You have to root your device with magisk

Install the above addon for magisk
Reboot and now the phone will reach 300mbps on 2.4ghz
and 866mbps on wifi 5ghz, I haven't tried wifi6 yet

Well most xiaomi devices are USB2.0 and when you backup before restoring the device, the backup at least in my case took 80gb, and when I moved it to my PC it took me forever at 27mbps in a usb3.0 port, same when I use 2.0.
But when you use wifi file transfer pro, you can get transfers around 70mb/s in 5ghz almost 3 times faster.
So you will save a lot of time in large file backups and transfers.
Maybe try different app? The app seems old.
First check when you connect WIFI 5G and test the speed of internet.
Is PC wire-connected to router or through WIFI 5G?

1-The app is old and simple, but it does its work, the problem is the link speed that limits the connection.
2-This is not an Internet speed problem, it's about the link connection between my phone and the router (max theorical speed).
3-PC is wired connected 1gbps ethernet cable, I can sed files beween the local network at around 120MB/s (1gpbs)
My old Redmi Note 8 Pro link speed is 433mbps and it sends an receives at around 40mb/s, the new POCO Sends and receives at around 12-20mb/s

2-The 5ghz wifi it's fine, I attached the screen captures where the Redmi is at 433mbps and the POCO is at 192mbps.
Router is set on channel 36, bandwidth 20/40/80mhz, MIMMO enabled, and the distance from the router is less than 1m, same problem with the repeater (which allows around 1gbps speed over 5ghz wifi).
So far seems like a hardware limitation, it could help if you share your 5ghz network info to check your theorical speed.

When you unlock bootloader, your phone will be like a factory reset. If after that is still not fixed, I don't think flashing different Rom would fix it. Hardware issue or compatibility issue may be possible.
Try reboot both router and the phone. (power off, then manually power on with pressing power button.) Sometimes it will magically fixed.
Reset phone connection setting (should be in factory reset menu), then add WIFI setting again.
Find another router with 5GHz and connect to it to see if it's actually your phone's problem or router problem.

So after researching, reading trying everything, up to this day I've been unable to fix this problem.
At this very moment I'm in safe mode (Xiaomi.eu 12.5.3) and the connection is 866mbps.
I'm able to switch between 2.4ghz (192mbps) and 5ghz (866mbps).
Now there is one thing that I just discovered, if I boot with airplane mode, as long as I have it enabled I can switch between 2.4ghz and 5ghz without any issue, but the minute I disable it and try to switch, I'm unable to recover the link speed.

According to your update, you said ArrowOS and any MIUI ROMs had the issue.
Tried other ROMs?
If all the ROMs you tried had this problem, it may be firmware/kernel sourced and maybe Android 11 issue.
I think I've seen some people on this phones or other phones had WIFI issues, and had reported improved or somewhat compatible when without using mobile data and changing WIFI router to 802.11 a/b/g/n which is old and better stable, but may have slower speed.
If MIUI has this issue, you can report to Xiaomi with your video.

Yes I tested all the roms for the same purpose just to check the 5ghz link speed and all of them resulted in the same 192mbps what kernel do you recommend me to start testing?
I don't know, following my logic I've come to think that my phone has a hardware problem, maybe interference or a bad contact in the antena and the link gets throttled down to prevent data loss, but that's just a theory however I want to fix it.
One more thing, my brother has a Redmi note 10 and my mother has a Redmi Note 8, and they both experience an identical issue, but they are limited to 96mbps (half my throttled speed 192mbps), and if the reboot with airplane mode and wifi enabled, they both reach 433mbps (half my full speed).
So I'm almost 100% sure that there is a problem with the kernel or the modem firmware that's causing this, I just want to find out how to fix it once and for all.

Some Custom Kernels are listed in the Index thread, you can try to see if any would help, some custom kernels may only be accessible in Telegram group.
I'm not a developer, and not into coding, so can't help on solving. You can try and ask in Telegram group to see if some developer knows how to fix it, and the response there should be faster than in XDA.

Just tried Etherious kernel 3.0 (3.1 was incompatible) but no use, 192mbps persists, perhaps it's just a firmware/modem problem, probably I will be selling this poco and purchasing POCO F3 instead, hopefully that phone works better :/

I would say try a non-Xiaomi phone to test.
All your phones you listed are Xiaomi-related brands, and all had similar issues.
If you buy, lets say Samsung, and the problem still exists: it's more likely your WIFI router's problem.
If Samsung phone or other brand Android phone does not have this issue, it's more likely Xiaomi's problem.
You can still buy Poco F3, but it's not easy to find where there problem is from if test only with Xiaomi-related brand.
You can try iPhone as well, but since iPhone are completely different design, it's not easy to find out where the culprit is.
Everything depends on the antenna and the modem used in the device. It should have been optimized to work at 2.4 Ghz (which is actually good as 2.4Ghz is used more then 5Ghz in most cases). The airplane mode is not an issue. When it is turned an and turned off later, the modem is triggered immediately in which gives you a spike in speed. Just like, if you take rest for a while and run, you run faster then when you keep running straight!
