[Q] Huawei Ascend mate 7 battery problem - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, anyone has problem with Huawei Ascend mate 7 battery ? I just got a new mobile but when I opened first time, the battery did not have any power. So I charged up to 100% when the phone off. But when I turn on the handset, I found the battery percentage drop from 100% to 84% without any usage.
As you know the capacity of the battery is 4100 mAH, but I felt, the battery drop a lot. I did some browsing but not so much.
The strange is battery keep decreasing even the phone is turn off. I have contacted the merchant and planning to ask Huawei service centre to get the new one or battery replacement.
Do you guys have same problem with me ? what should I do ?
Thank you

I don't know that much about it, but it would be really helpful if you can post a screenshot of your battery usage!

Yes, I also have this problem.. Maybe it is for saving battery life that it does not charge it fully. Or maybe it just doesn't begin re charging before it is below 90% or something like that?

Problem here
My mate 7 buy around 8 month,
Recently also got this problem.....
Fully charge until 100% , but it is usage until 50% ,
then my MATE 7 will shutdown itself .
The battery was show me 0% ?!
ANYONE CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ??!!

Heating when charging

Hello Guys,
when charging my honor 8, I have noticed that the back of the phone gets really hot; especially when charging is initiated at low battery(less than 20% of battery).
The battery temp gets up to 40C (104F), measured with Using Simple System Monitor app.
I use huawei Quick Charge that comes with the phone.
Is there something to worry about or is this common? I know that too much heat on the battery can cause its early failure.
Thank you,
John
high temperatures will affect the battery life over time, are you using the phone while charging or are there apps running in the backgound using the cpu?
I am not using the phone while charging. It is connected on wifi and no apps running on background.
That's really hot. And not normal. You can talk to the guys in service center for it.
40C to 45C for battery is normal guys while charge is droped and charging ! ..
same as for CPU Temp . 40~45 is normal when u r gaming .
above 50 is not normal . and yes if the battery is low and using charge try to turn it off or don't use it while charging ! ..
and i know since 2 years that a good way to keep battery healthy is to charge only when battery drop after 20% and charge less than 95% and never use phone while charging . will keep battery healthy ! .

Status update
With stock Huawei fast charger plugged in for 10mins the battery gets hot (around 38C) and the input current gets down to 300mah (from 2700mah). The wall brick charger is not hot at all. So I guess is something to do with my device.
That way the charging process will take very long time.
I tried a lenovo charger with max output 2000mah (I measured 1700mah with the monitor app). The battery seems to charge fine with it and not overheating. However, charge time from 20% is approx. 90 mins.
Summary, Huawei quick charging sucks...at least for me
Note: for those wondering if I have a faulty battery, I can get 4 hours of SOT so I assume that my battery is still good.
Quick charge only works on the Huawei charger. Quick charge works by pushing higher current to charge the battery quicker up to about 50%. My phone gets warm from charging if it's below 50% because of the quick charge. I've experienced this on all of the phones I've owned that had quick charge.
Honestly, it sounds like you may have a bad Huawei brick.
The Honor 8 shouldn't get uncomfortable hot while charging. It should get hot but not so hot that you can't touch it. I would contact on Honor about the problem if it becomes persistent.

This is a really old post. But I am making it for the benefit of people stumbling across this thread.
So I must say that info is incorrect.
You battery temp should not go above 42 while gaming and that is really too hot. Ideal gaming temp is 40.5C and battery idle temp should be between 33-35c
For Battery longevity
When charging, you really don't want to go above 80% or below 20% and its better to charge throughout the day sporadically than leaving the phone on the charger for too long.
Again , sorry for commenting on a very old post. But maybe the info will help someone.

I added that people should be cautious about battery heat.
But let me also ad that it would be wise to learn how thermals work and how to build your own thermal profiles for battery longevity.

Battery dead or bug in the battery display ?

For two weeks my phone (Mate 8 L29) is discharging quickly. Initially I thought it should be because of some applications and so I uninstall the main applications running in the background like facebook.
But that did not change anything. Yesterday I formatted my phone and switched from a B180 Ephemeral rom to the stock B560 (Ephemeral B180 -> Stock B180 -> Stock B560).
The battery was behaving rather well until it reached about 60%, at which time the charge literally collapsed. The battery has gone from 60% to 27% in a few minutes. Around the 30% I saw him lose 1% every 15 seconds! So I plugged in the phone and the ascent of the load was as fast as the fall between 30 to 60%. After 60% the battery seemed to recharge at a more normal rate.
Do you think it is the battery that is physically dead and I need to replace it or can it come from a bug in the battery display?
The phone is less than a year old, but I could not use the warranty since I installed a rom.
On the screenshot you can see the battery go from 60% to 30% then go up to 60%, all in just about 30mins and without using a greedy application like a video game.

you may need to replace your battery..
when exactly did it start.
Do you always charge up your phone A's soon as it starts discharging
Do you always plug in your phone while doing heavy gaming?

It started about two weeks ago.
It happened several times to play with the phone connected. In general I expect it to be under 20% to recharge it, sometimes I charge it before if I know I have a long day without access to a power outlet.
I understand the questions very well, but it sounds quick. That a battery is so worn out in a little less than a year.
Im having the same issue and In going to replace the battery today, I'll tell you the results

Please do keep us posted in case this is a problem of Mate 8
Is it possible to make the message "your device has been unlocked" disappear ? That would allow me to try the guarantee.
I've change the battery and everything backs to normal. The battery life is huge again.

Where did you go to change the battery, was it an official change? Did you lose your warranty? How much was it?
Thanks
Also how have you guys been charging your phones? Overnight? Fast charging overnight? Or slow charging overnight?
I changed the battery myself with a youtube tutorial, very easy:
https://youtu.be/b7f8fdYz5ig
I was charging my phone overnight wit fast charging. I know fast charging overnight is useless, but the official charger only do fast charging, so no choice.
I want to change my battery myself, like janrk, but first, just out of curiosity, im going to try the sellers warranty. I try to join Huawei, they just didnt answer.
A lot of chinese website sell "Official Mate 8 battery", but im not sure they are really official. I find 7 to 9€ battery on chinese web site, 12€ on Amazon (chinese seller), 25 to 35€ with european seller. That's only for the battery, i you didnt want to change the battery yourself its between 49 to 80€.
My battery cost me 13€, and is identical to the original battery
Where do you buy it ?
I contacted the after-sales service of Huwaei. They told me that it was necessary to cut the wifi and the mobile data when the phone is in charge. And that in general it was necessary to cut the wifi and the mobile data when one does not have the use of it. I deduce that they have poorly designed these elements of the phones, and that they cause it to overheat. This should reduce the battery life.
I asked them if it was possible to have a warranty. It is possible, but for this i must accept to send the phone to them for several weeks. Since I do not wish to have no phone for several weeks I will order a battery. Their after-sales service is really useless: /

stupid thingy ...
almost same thing happend on me and i had to replace battery to solve it.
it took only 10 month to kill damn built-in battery.
i can't belive it. its just 10 month.
i never see like this.
most cheapest battery (made in china) was worked over 24 month.
I just change the battery, is actually that fixes the problem. Now I'm not sure that the battery is necessarily bad at the base. I wonder if the design of the phone does not cause an overheating of the phone that is damaging the battery prematurely.

Problem with new battery on my MI4

Hi, i bought a new original battery for my Xiaomi mi4 because the previously inflated. I changed it like 2 weeks ago and now, with initialitation (charge and discharge for like 3, 4 times with phone off too for the first time) the battery has a problem. Maybe is not the battery, maybe is android, but the problem is: Arrived to like 20% the phone shutdown probably because the battery is completely discharged. When i plug the charge cable, at first the red led flash; after like 2 min mi logo appear and battery percentage too. The problem is the battery isn't at 0% but like at 20/24% and i dont know why. The problem is android? the battery? or like the battery charge? Pls help me and sorry for my bad english.

Mostly the battery. Where did you buy the original battery from?
FYI, My Mi4 depletes noramally from 100% till it hits 25% but after that it lasts for about 30 mins of light usage before switching off. But my battery is older than a year so that's why.
On aliexpres...... And everyzhing ok.
I went to know where did you buy the original battery from?

Battery life is very poor on my couple of year old moto g fast

If my phone is off the charger and In use I only get about 4-5 hours of use. Could I have ruined the battery by constantly letting it sit on the charger?
i have an older Huawei P30 Pro with good battery life.
Anyway we cant say if you battery is ruined.
The problem could be apps/mods or a new firmware

A battery gets ruined when it's charge isn't not constantly kept in the range 20% - 80%.
