[Q] Google Play Services unknown error - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Moto G (1st Gen - 2013). Its the stock software and I have not rooted the phone. Recently, I updated my Google Play Services apk through Aptoide. Since then, I have been getting an error saying "Unknown issue with Google Play Services" . I believe this is due to that update which is not compatible with my current software on the phone. ( I haven't got the lollipop update yet) . Now, there is a "rollback" option in Aptoide but that requires an re-install of the app. Since my phone isn't rooted, I am not able to downgrade the app.
What are my options now? How can I get my phone back to normal working condition? Any suggestions ?

[Q] Moto G 4.4.4 update breaks Play Services

I tried to install the GPE rom on my bootloader locked verizon moto g this caused the device to show invalid system image at startup, after many failed attempts I was able to restore by upgrading to android 4.4.4 through Motorola device manger.
Now when I open Google Play it says "no connection, retry"
When I launch hangouts it says "Couldn't sign in because we couldn't reach Google. Try again."
If I try to enable Google Now "Google now requires location services which are not available" (location is on high accuracy)
I think the problem could be due to the fact that I bought and used the moto g in the US but now I am in Russia.
I tried most of the usual fixes for Google play services, none work and tried factory restore (I can't do the ones that require root, no root for 4.4.4)
Does anyone know a possible solution including downgrading?

Play Store & Services: always behind latest release

Hi fellows,
I have a Moto E LTE (surnia) with official Motorola ROM (6.0).
Actually, Google Play Store gets stuck at version 6.9.21.G while latest version is 7.0.17.H (according to apkmirror.com).
At the same time, Google Play Services gets stuck at 9.6.83 version while latest is 9.8.41 (according to apkmirror.com). While Google Play Services is mainlained with latest version (9.6.83).
Now, I have some questions:
1- Why am I in this situation?
2- Can I manually upgrade to the latest versions?
3- What happens if I switch to CM that already has got (OpenGapps in reality...) latest versions?
thank you
PS: I have already tried to clear data/cache, to remove my Google account and perform a factory data reset
Up
Am I in the wrong section?
UPDATE: version 9.8.41 of Google Play Services is wear-specific, so no: Google Play Services is already updated to the latest version available, but not the Play Store...

Q: App compatitbility

An employee had to get his phone replaced and everything updated when you logged into Google Play. Only app that did not download was Dropbox. Play says his phone is not compatible. Not sure why. It's running 4.4.4, which isn't an issue for Dropbox. I had him clear out Play Services data and cache and Play Store data and cache, but that still did not work.
Any thoughts? Everything is stock by the way.
4.4.4 Kitkat is two years old. Any reason he's not on Marshmallow 6.0.1 which was released July 2016 for the XT1225? Even if he has XT1250, he should be on Lollipop 5.0.2. He does have Moto Maxx XT1225 or XT1250, right? If not you're in the wrong forum.
No, I don't know why Dropbox isn't working on 4.4.4, but you can go to APK mirror to get current and older versions of the Dropbox APK and install it manually. You will have to allow app installation from unknown locations in Security settings. Still, newer version of firmware might solve his Google Play issue.

Downgrading S7 Google Play Services

Hello everyone,
I am trying to run successfully a gps mocking application on my s7 running android 7 .
I have read a guide about this and one of the steps is downgrading google play services. Meaning that I have to deactivate it, it will automatically reset to its original version and then I will install the version that I want (hoping that I find it).
I was wondering if there can be anythihng that could go wrong in this process and brick my phone. Or in case something goes wrong reinstalling the latest version of google play services should be enough? Thanks in advance!
