Anyone here use Tasker with their Sprint GS5? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering....
I'm trying to make Tasker disable my pattern lock and make it swipe instead, and automatically activate WiFi Calling, can't figure out how though lol -_- I have the newly updated Secure Settings too btw.

I have Tasker and the Secure Settings plugin as well. I am pretty savvy with Tasker, but it isn't playing well with the S5 yet. Are you signed up for the latest Secure Settings beta? If not, I recommend you do so. The author is enhancing the plugin to support some of the S5 specific features. The problem is a lot of the S5 stuff is currently broken. We just have to be patient while everything is being worked on.

How can I join the beta? And all I want it to do is what I said in the OP.... which is not S5 specific. Do you know how to make it do I what I said in OP?!

[APP][2.1+] Ultimate Control 1.0

This program allows you to control your mouse and keyboard from your android device via Wifi or Bluetooth. You need a server program on your computer and it is available for windows, mac and linux.
The connection process is very simple, just discover all the server available and select one to control (no IPs or any technical stuff). Plus, the app is pretty configurable, button layout, mouse sensitivity... and it also has some cool features like setting a password that will be asked for when establishing the connection.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.negusoft.ucontrol
Enjoy and post comments !!!
Great app
I just tryed it and it is great man! thanks!
No dealing with IP address or anything. Just select your computer and go. It is so smooth, plus I like the fact that you can protect your computer with a password.
10 out of 10
Linux support
Good news!! It is now compatible with linux. You can download the server from theire web. And it works perfectly in my Ubuntu.
By the way, the programs version is already 0.9.2, you may want to update the post ;p
The thread is updated now, I also mention the linux compatibility (although I didn't test it yet). What distribution are you using? I would like to give it a try.
Cheers
I tryed it in Ubuntu 11. I had a little issue though, it didn't work on my laptop. I asked the developers and they told me that it doesn't currently support the 64bit architecture. They appear to be working on a version that will work though. Judging by theire release frequency, it will be available very soon
Installation
Hello,
I was trying to install it on Ubuntu 11 too. I run the "install" file but nothing seems to happen. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Well, my first advice would be that you read the "readme.txt". Everything is explained there. Basically, make sure you have Java installed.
Thanks, I followed the instructions in the readme file and I make it work without problems. And it works like a charm!!!!
And by the way, does anybody know if it is possible to make a direct connection with Wifi (without connectiong to a network) ?
I guess if you create a point to point wifi connection it would work. But why would you want to do that? For this scenarion, you would just use bluetooth.
Hey, when I connect through bluetooth, it doesn't ask me for the password even if I have it activated. Is it normal? Does that happen to someone else?
Great work!
I personally think it is how it should work. Through bluetooth, you have to pair your device so there is a security system already. The why to bother entering additional passwords?
I believe the developers had the same conclusions when implementing the security system.

Nice app! I love it!
Thanks for pointing it out.
Wow, it is certainly better than others I have tryed, such as gmote, remote trackpad or advanced touchpad...
Great job!
They really keep updating the app. And they bring some new little stuff in each release. I hope they keep up the good work.

New version available! I updated the main post already.
They added an optional scroll-bar. And the best thing, they fixed some clicking bugs or something, witch means it will now runs perfectly on my Galaxy Tab (the original)!

Lockscreen notifaction bar access in CM

As everyone probably has seen the notifaction bar access in ICS is a nice new feature. However, I am pretty sure it would be possible to also make this possible with Cyanogen Mod, there has been a request already, but it was "closed" due to insufficient stars with a given period. I think it would be nice to go ahead and star this issue as much as possible to get this feature in CM 7.x

This is a bad idea. I see alot of security risks with this and I hope google fixes it. Nothing should be able to be accessed while the screen is locked.

Wouldn't a simple feature on-off toggle fix everything? Let people choose if they prefer security and privacy or ease of use I guess. I have a business phone and a personal phone..with no real "personal" data, so I wouldn't mind being able to quickly access notifications when the phone is locked.

As long as there is a way to shut it off then I wouldnt mind it.
You can already do this using widgetlocker. It is a convenience as well as potential privacy risk.

You can't access it if you have any type of lock on your phone. So if you have pattern set up you won't be able to pull it down. So thats your fix. If security is your priority then you already have a pattern lock or pin set up right?

Email Exchange(Outlook)

Is there any way to still use the slide function to unlock the phone while having an exchange(outlook) mail setup? to keep entering in a pin is killing me. Thanks. Hopefully there is some sort of trickeration for this.

If it is forcing a pin, it is because your exchange administrator forced the policy on the server, which in turn forces it on your phone as soon as you accept the policy when adding the account to your phone. I doubt that you will be able to get around it. I am an Exchange Admin here in our district, and I do not enforce that policy, but I know most do... Try contacting your admin and asking him/her to remove it.
Good Luck!
There are ROMs that come with modified Email apks that do not enforce your administrator's security settings. I know that Jelly Beans ROM from Beanstown has that and I'm pretty sure some of the AOSP roms do as well. You can probably get this as a seperate flashable mod, but I haven't seen it myself.
Of course depending on where you work, there may be a good reason why your admin chose this route, so proceed with caution.

SynergyRom in the Verizon SIII android development section has an option (selectable during setup in Aroma) to bypass Exchange Security. In addition, the OP has a link to a specific flashable download (JB only) for this mod as well.
This is probably the biggest reason I have stayed on Synergy all this time.

[DISCONTINUED] Turboid 1.13

Now that we've got some Sunshine in our lives, sadly (not really) it is time for Turboid to be retired. We don't need it anymore.
If you would like to set up a rom on your unlocked Turbo that has all the features that Turboid had, upgrade to SU4TL-44, unlock with Sunshine, install TWRP, and flash following:
1. SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
2. Busybox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-busybox-v1-23-2-stericson-flashable-t3114476 (NOTE: This is not the latest version, but you need to have busybox flashed before you flash Pon-3. Once you boot the phone, use Busybox Installer by Stericson in the Play Store to update to the latest version).
3. Pon-3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530976
4. Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (Make sure to flash the correct SDK for the rom that you're running. SDK21 = Lollipop 5.0.X. SDK22 = Lollipop 5.1.X. SDK23 = Marshmallow 6.X. Also, always use the ARM version.)
5. iOS 9.1 emojis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/mod-ios-emojis-android-t3231571
Once all that's flashed, let the phone boot up. Wiping cache and dalvik cache is always a safe bet after flashing anything. Once it boots, do the following:
1. Go back to the Xposed page and install the Installer apk.
2. Get Adaway here: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.adaway (Install using the default settings. No need for redirecting the hosts file anymore.)
3. Better Battery Stats is here if you like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
4. The Turbo 2 command center is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps/droid-turbo-2-command-center-root-t3244386
I think that about covers it. Go forth and flash! Thanks for letting me play dev for a few months.
Thanks to:
@computerfreek274 for his excellent roms, his dedication to them and for our SELinux discussion
@JulesJam for her various guides and posts that taught me how to do most of this
@btdownloads7 for answering my question about the HDR bug
@DespairFactor for the iOS 9.1 emoji port
@mrchezco1995 for showing myself and the world how awesome ponies can sound via Pon-3
And at long last, thanks to @jcase and @beaups for kicking Motorola and Verizon in their bootloader-locked balls!
Awesome man. Nice to have some options, even if they are fairly similar. Thanks. :good:

Unlike the other images floating around, I started off with the stock SU3TL-39 system image from the full Verizon firmware. To the best of my knowledge, the other roms are based off of firstEncounter's 5.1 image, which was obtained in a different way. Does this matter? Probably not, but at the time I thought that this might fix the HDR bug, and it did, but probably not for that reason.

There's a SU3TL-39 full firmware? My images were based on the SU3TL-38 and updated to SU3TL-39 by emulating the OTA script.
(Also, HDR works on my images, for whatever it's worth)
Regardless, always glad to see more development for the Turbo!

Yep! You can get it on the motofirmwares website. Yeah, someone confirmed for me the other day that it works on your image now. In the past, I had flashed it and it didn't, but you've updated it since I did that. So I guess HDR working isn't really a feature anymore. I'm working on some gimmicks to make my image a little more relevant though.
Would it be possible for you to allow us to claim space to the area where the Google Search Bar is, when it is hidden? Also, I would like to be able to clear all the open applications without having to swipe them all one at a time. Is that possible?

I'll look into the Google search bar thing. I've never seen my screen without it, so I didn't know that the space wasn't automatically used. As for the clear all recents thing, that is one of the many features of Gravity Box for LP (a well known xposed module). Try that. I'll see if there's a way to bake it into the rom too.
I posted on the other thread about this, but I will say again here, this img is great. Has similar battery life to the other Lp img I was running, despite not having tweaks. I unplugged at 530 am. been kicking butt all day long. I streamed via Bluetooth for 2 hours driving at work, and noticed better 4g signals than I have had yet at my work using this img. There were zero glitches or bugs that I noticed. I am still at 8% battery, atm. I had a crapload of SOT. Look for yourself. amazing img. thank you!!!
p.s. I just noticed I have had max brightness all day as well. lol.
I just realized you removed the corporate email app (after a day or use, haha). Is there a way that I can side load it or something? I love the debloated ROM, but that is one app I need for my college email account.
Also, is it ok to update Moto Actions? You can understand why I ask that!
^^^ I used the Outlook app as a replacement today. Gmail also will allow you to add other email accounts now, so that may be why. As far as requests, my only one may not be reasonable or practical, but it would be a deodexed version of this. Again, awesome work.
Yeah, specifically, I need the exchange piece. I tried the outlook app, but it doesn't handle certain things as well. I also tried installing Google Email 6.5 as well as the Exchange Services apk, but I know I have to be missing something... Actually, probably lots of things! haha.
Also, adaway doesn't work with this build, is that right?

Well if you need the stock email app, I can send an image your way that has it once I find some time. I have no idea what deodexing roms entails, but that sounds like a fun project too. I'll look into it.

I added the stock email app back. Side loading didn't work. Will be up in a few hours.
thats cool. honestly, deodexing is removing all of the .odex files from the rom. (located at /system/app , system/priv-app, etc.
the reason i ask about it is it would make theming easier. mind you, without system r/w access, it is a moot point. it may make the theme options available work better though. (LPthemer module comes to mind). CF has said he will not be doing that at any point, so it may be a PITA.

Enable multi users

Some if not all variants of the V10 did not include multi-users out of the box like Tmo's didn't. So to counter that I have put this little guide together for you.
To do this really all you have to do is add these two lines to the buildprop save and reboot.
You might need a build prop editing app or a different root browser. Root explorer is known not to save edits on the G3, G4, and V10.
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=5
That's it you're all done.
One thing I've noticed about multi-user is unless you're using it a lot, make sure you go through settings on the other user and disable sync, location, etc. Basically anything that could run in the background and kill your battery
Update: Working on Tmo V10 running Marshmallow too!
Thanks! I'll definitely be applying this once I get my phone set up.
I see the zip for the G4 has an apk which I'm assuming is what handles the system settings. What needs to be done to the V10 version of that apk to enable the "Users" option in system settings?

Great! Thanks for letting me know. Sorry, normally I'd give it a try first before asking, but I don't want to root the phone just yet. I'm waiting for them to unlock it for me, and the T-Mobile Unlocking app freaks out if the phone is rooted.
So not available
I have seen several videos on youtube showing v10s with multiple users enabled on the phones in the video. However I don't know if I missed that step in setting up my phone or that certain carriers (t-mo, verizon, att) aren't enabling this basic android 5.1.1 feature. So can you clarify is it all V10 or just the t-mobile variant.
So is the only solution to root and do all the images? Got it less than 24 hours and very upset there is no guest mode for kids or ability to setup multiple users, so can I root without having to do all the setup again?
So it need rooted phone
Update: Working on Tmo Marshmallow too!
