[Cancelling Docomo paid apps like NOTTV for the SC-04E]
I just figured out how to cancel NOTTV -
Just so you know - when you sign up for Docomo service they throw anywhere from 5-10 apps that they you have to add in order for the contract to go into effect or something like that.
Anyways, a day or two after you sign your contract, you can cancel all of the apps without any problem and never have to worry about them again. Of course, with the exception of NOTTV. You actually have to go into dMenu (Docomo menu) to start this cancellation process.
Here are the instructions in Japanese if you understand them -
Japanese instructions to turn off/cancel NOTTV
The English instructions are as follows:
First open the above link as that page actually has images that I'm not going to post here that show the procedure.
Just go to this link - on your phone using the stock browser. http://sp.nottv.jp/support/help/#procedure or Click here
Once on that page you will see the following Japanese text 各種手続きについて - it's the 2nd Pink heading down the page.
Near the bottom of that you will see the following Japanese text NOTTVの解約方法について教えてほしい。(How to cancel NOTTV is basically what it says.) then you will see a list of instructions open up and near the bottom of those instructions there will be a link in Japanese text that says 2. NOTTVスマートフォンサイトからこちらから. Click that link on your phone - the link won't work here.
Then when the next page opens on the bottom will be a black button - click it.
Then a page with two black buttons on it will appear. Click the top one that says in Japanese text ドコモケータイ払い.
This will take you to your docomo login page on which you must login your phone number and docomo password.
Then it will take you to the payment page and you will see a transaction number at the top and a big black button that says in Japanese text 解約.
Once you click that you will be cancelled. It will ask you to fill out some survey. If my English steps do not work please have a Japanese friend walk you through the other site's walk-through.
Hope this helps anyone who needed it.
A little more info if you have trouble is here.
[Root guide for Docomo Samsung Galaxy S4 SC-04E]
Everyone's favorite topic.
There are a few members working on this now.
Some have used other methods that have worked but nothing foolproof that always works has been done yet.
If you have the MF1 update and want to root then use the gs4eXT method posted further down into this forum.
It does appear that you can also root using that method with the MF2 update but it is a very limited root. Titanium Backup won't work, you can't flash any other ROMs, maybe other things too. So for me, rooting at this time is not yet an option.
I'm sure this will change soon. Somebody will figure something out.
[ML2 update root guide]
coming soon...
[MF2 update root guide]
I'm on MF2. Root works. Titanium Backup works.
Here are the exact steps that I took:
1. Restore factory image (MF2 in my case)
2. Install Android Terminal Emulator.
3. Install GS4eXT (paid)
4. Opened Android Terminal Emulator. Left it at that.
5. Hit menu, then went to open GS4eXT
6. f**k the device. Yes. Yes.
7. When the process finished, my last message was only "sorry too much. [email protected]:/$"
My phone did NOT display "Please reboot manualy operation."
8. I pressed the power button, and clicked on Restart.
9. System restarted, and then a message popped up in Japanese asking if I wanted to install Superuser. Yes. Open.
10. Back to the Play Store, I then installed Super SU. Open. Super SU will say that there are other programs using root access, and will ask to uninstall those other programs. Hit Cancel.
11. Installed Titanium Backup.
Notice: Titanium was granted root via SU via Superuser. So Superuser is granting Super SU root. And in turn, Super SU granted Titanium root. Sounds weird, but you'll see what I mean.
Test Conducted: Installed a backed up app and data from my last phone. Success! All my saved files were included in the restoration process.
I restarted my phone. It booted as normal.
Opened my restored app. Everything worked as normal.
Opened up Titanium, but had it was looking for root access. I had to open Super SU back up again. After that, I went back to Titanium, and root access was granted once again.
After I uninstall all my bloatware, I'm going to try updating the phone and see if it keeps root (or see if I can root again after the update).
Thanks a million!
Another root guide from cezeff
Flashed the CM 4.4.1 and having no problems...cam and video working fine...one thing i found out is to be on the super safe side be sure to flash in order...
1. be rooted on either a rooted stock or another aosp rom
2. ensure you have the cwm 6.0.4.5 flashed as your recovery....its easy, just flash the tar via Odin
3. download and copy the 4.3 slimbean, CM11 and/or AOSP 4.4.2 to and sd card and place in your phone...just do this before you boot into recovery.
4. i advise downloading the gapps provided by pa and copy that you your sc card too....you can choose from either the full, core or bare minimal gapps...plus you can flash the cam separate too with photosphere... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 theres the link
5.boot into recovery, do a full wipe
6. install 4.3 Slim Bean
7. wipe again... then install either CM11 or AOSP, then flash the gapp package
8. wipe cache, and davilk then reboot
9. let sit for 10 minutes reboot
i had flashed the 4.4.2 but ran into reboot problems...probably because i jumped ahead and didnt flash in order....this is just a rough guide....
Another ROM
SeeYou has released a stable 4.4.2 CM 11.0 ROM. I have flashed it and have experienced no issues.

Thanks for starting this.
Ordered mine last week too, looking forward to Thursday when I pick it up - currently on the SC-02C.
As for root, the Motochopper exploit should work I guess...
SC-04E has only Felica secure element internally, but is being supplied with an NFC-A secure element on the (pink) SIM card.
This is sneaky shibari lock-in on Docomo's part - it forces you to keep your Docomo SIM in when overseas if you want to do contactless payment on the Mastercard NFC-A terminals. Well played Docomo, well played...
I'm still on the wall on whether or not to get it, feels uncomfortable in my hands (too wide) and the SO-04E Xperia A (which will be sold elsewhere as the ZR) feels so much better.

S3 without case is same width as my S2 with case, which already feels too big for my hand.
Got it!
Ok, picked it up this morning. :good:
Very nice, its a touch bigger but curved enough to not feel too big.
Will set it up tonight. Pulled the SIM out and stuck it back in the S2 for now (used a 90YEN Sim Card adapter to make it fit) good to know that even after changing to the contract to use the Xi (LTE) network it still works fine in the S2 - Though now I have a 3GB monthly limit on data... (chose the 3GB lite plan for now)

Cool! Hopefully we get a root soon. Yeah I switched to the 3gb data plan a while back since I barely even use 1 gb a month. Wish they had smaller plans ,but owell.
Anyone tried the unlock method from here (through service menu)? Success or fail?
So I picked mine up today. The amount of bloat on the thing annoys me quite a bit. I can't wait for the bootloader to be cracked wide open so I can flash to stock.
I have a simple use question though that I'm a little confused on. I've got Mobile Suica installed now and I've never used it before, since my last phone was a S2. Do I have to have an app running when I touch it to the readers? Does the Reader/Writer, P2P setting need to be turned on to use it?

DoCoMo Unlimited Plan not Unlimited [Fix]
OK I got my phone today, now what?
I hate the new data plans, just setting up my phone used 500mb in data alone today.
So I found a solution that works without rooting the phone to help us former "unlimited-plan" users still think we are on an unlimited plan.
It's super easy but, unfortunately, not free. Most of the Android users I know already know about this app.
Basically, I set it to automatically turn on the WiFi and connect to your home network without using GPS. And also when you leave home it shuts WiFi off and puts you back on data.
One you learn how to use it for one location, you'll start doing it for every location you go to that has a free WiFi connection (i.e. - Starbucks, etc.)
If anyone gets the app or already has it, let me know and I'll post further instructions
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
But well worth the $2.99.

CF autoroot for i9505 works, i just did it, now to remove this bloat
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803
looks like you will lose NFC and stock recoveryfunctions though. SU wont update the binary but apps requiring root access like TiBu read as rooted. will update with more info after more playing if i find out anything else.
edit: Well seems more not rooted than rooted. while some apps function many do not or only work partially. guess ill wait around for the stock image and restore unless somone finds something out before then

anyone pull a stock image of the ROM yet?
@SQ3.0dotJP the flashing process went just fine but when I go into try to use SU and update the binary, it fails to update and Root checker shows my device is not rooted....were you able to get yours fully rooted?....we should send a message in the Auto-Root form to try and be sure we get officially supported....
Can the O.P. start modifying this thread to reflect to create a rooting/rom flashing guideline as was done with the SC-06D on this page .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41770156#post41770156

Are you asking for a sub forum thread in here about rooting?

Go to this thread in the General G4 Q&A forum. I don't want to have to update threads in multiple forums.
A US Cellular user reported that they still received an update even with LGDMSClient.apk blocked.
I've suggested more files to block to prevent updates, and posted a list of all the files I'm currently blocking in that thread. I update the lists as I find more files to block so check back occasionally.
I read the information on debloater. It claimed that it required root access so I didn't give it a shot.
Now the update forced on me today.

Root required to uninstall the packages, but you can block/disable them without root. Debloater gives you access to block more packages than you can see in Settings - Apps.

I used Google Maps and Waze all day today and didn't notice any problems or GPS location issues. This is on an AT&T H810 so other variants could have issues though.
I only blocked the LG GNSS file because it appeared in many bloatware lists for other phones and I saw it running and using a bit of memory from time to time. I do tend to block first and ask questions later!
Please post your results!

I think when the dev says block Debloater removes the package from the phone to a backup on the computer, but this requires root.
Disable works for non-rooted phones and seems to prevent the package from running similar to what you can do to most apps in the Apps menu.
Now that we've got some Sunshine in our lives, sadly (not really) it is time for Turboid to be retired. We don't need it anymore.
If you would like to set up a rom on your unlocked Turbo that has all the features that Turboid had, upgrade to SU4TL-44, unlock with Sunshine, install TWRP, and flash following:
1. SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
2. Busybox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-busybox-v1-23-2-stericson-flashable-t3114476 (NOTE: This is not the latest version, but you need to have busybox flashed before you flash Pon-3. Once you boot the phone, use Busybox Installer by Stericson in the Play Store to update to the latest version).
3. Pon-3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530976
4. Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (Make sure to flash the correct SDK for the rom that you're running. SDK21 = Lollipop 5.0.X. SDK22 = Lollipop 5.1.X. SDK23 = Marshmallow 6.X. Also, always use the ARM version.)
5. iOS 9.1 emojis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/mod-ios-emojis-android-t3231571
Once all that's flashed, let the phone boot up. Wiping cache and dalvik cache is always a safe bet after flashing anything. Once it boots, do the following:
1. Go back to the Xposed page and install the Installer apk.
2. Get Adaway here: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.adaway (Install using the default settings. No need for redirecting the hosts file anymore.)
3. Better Battery Stats is here if you like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
4. The Turbo 2 command center is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps/droid-turbo-2-command-center-root-t3244386
I think that about covers it. Go forth and flash! Thanks for letting me play dev for a few months.

@JulesJam for her various guides and posts that taught me how to do most of this
@btdownloads7 for answering my question about the HDR bug
@DespairFactor for the iOS 9.1 emoji port

Unlike the other images floating around, I started off with the stock SU3TL-39 system image from the full Verizon firmware. To the best of my knowledge, the other roms are based off of firstEncounter's 5.1 image, which was obtained in a different way. Does this matter? Probably not, but at the time I thought that this might fix the HDR bug, and it did, but probably not for that reason.

There's a SU3TL-39 full firmware? My images were based on the SU3TL-38 and updated to SU3TL-39 by emulating the OTA script.
(Also, HDR works on my images, for whatever it's worth)
Regardless, always glad to see more development for the Turbo!

Yep! You can get it on the motofirmwares website. Yeah, someone confirmed for me the other day that it works on your image now. In the past, I had flashed it and it didn't, but you've updated it since I did that. So I guess HDR working isn't really a feature anymore. I'm working on some gimmicks to make my image a little more relevant though.
Would it be possible for you to allow us to claim space to the area where the Google Search Bar is, when it is hidden? Also, I would like to be able to clear all the open applications without having to swipe them all one at a time. Is that possible?

I'll look into the Google search bar thing. I've never seen my screen without it, so I didn't know that the space wasn't automatically used. As for the clear all recents thing, that is one of the many features of Gravity Box for LP (a well known xposed module). Try that. I'll see if there's a way to bake it into the rom too.
I posted on the other thread about this, but I will say again here, this img is great. Has similar battery life to the other Lp img I was running, despite not having tweaks. I unplugged at 530 am. been kicking butt all day long. I streamed via Bluetooth for 2 hours driving at work, and noticed better 4g signals than I have had yet at my work using this img. There were zero glitches or bugs that I noticed. I am still at 8% battery, atm. I had a crapload of SOT. Look for yourself. amazing img. thank you!!!
p.s. I just noticed I have had max brightness all day as well. lol.
I just realized you removed the corporate email app (after a day or use, haha). Is there a way that I can side load it or something? I love the debloated ROM, but that is one app I need for my college email account.
Also, is it ok to update Moto Actions? You can understand why I ask that!
^^^ I used the Outlook app as a replacement today. Gmail also will allow you to add other email accounts now, so that may be why. As far as requests, my only one may not be reasonable or practical, but it would be a deodexed version of this. Again, awesome work.
Yeah, specifically, I need the exchange piece. I tried the outlook app, but it doesn't handle certain things as well. I also tried installing Google Email 6.5 as well as the Exchange Services apk, but I know I have to be missing something... Actually, probably lots of things! haha.

the reason i ask about it is it would make theming easier. mind you, without system r/w access, it is a moot point. it may make the theme options available work better though. (LPthemer module comes to mind). CF has said he will not be doing that at any point, so it may be a PITA.

Oh. That's it? I can do that in 2 seconds. I thought there was something more to it.
1.02 looks like the perfect ROM for me! Thanks @TheSt33v
*NOTE* This is for the standard S7. I made a mistake and put this in the S7 Edge forum. You can follow the same steps just please use the correct nougat version.
First I want to apologize for the formatting of this thread. I am new to making threads. Also I do not take credit for anything posted here. All credit goes to the amazing developers. Also a big thank you to Araltd for compiling everything.
Here's how I rooted my phone with nougat and all of the tweaks to make it run perfect. Please follow my instructions completely. This guide assumes you know how to use ADB so if you do not know how to use ADB there are several guides online.
*NOTE* This is for a T-mobile Galaxy S7 so if you try with another carrier YYMV
Also, if you follow this guide it means you have to buy some apps but the devs deserve your support.
You could do it with free apps but these are the apps I chose and recommend.
Download the nougat file for Odin (thank you micallan_17)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7C7EaSz8kzrQzhxZnlSemNscEE/view
If your device is rooted you must unroot it and do a factory reset. Once you are back at the welcome screen turn your off your phone and go into download mode.
Now you must use the stock Odin to install nougat you downloaded from above (use CSC and not Home CSC). Doing this will erase everything on your phone which is needed to run smoothly.
http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.12.3.zip
Once you are back up and running you can check really quick to see that you got nougat via settings.
Now download the modified Odin (thank you PrinceComsy):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177749
Put your phone into download mode and open up the modified Odin. Download this file and put “S7_Qualcomm” into AP. Don’t touch anything else and just click start and your phone should restart once it is done.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141717
Download the SU file thanks to jrkruse:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634750763
Once your phone is completely back on extract the folder and open it. In some empty space in the folder hold shift and press right click then click “open command window here.’ Now type root.bat and your phone will restart once done.
Set everything up on your phone like you normally would and then open up SuperSU and click Settings and make sure Enable SU during boot is checked.

My phone stopped going into deep sleep for some reason and the battery was draining even while the screen is off so I did the following to fix it.
I installed an app called ForceDoze: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suyashsrijan.forcedoze&hl=en
Once installed charge your phone to 100% and then turn on the app.
Important Once your phone hits 100% battery life go into recovery mode and wipe cache and then turn your phone back on and disconnect the charger.
---------------
Installed new BusyBox and it has made my phone a lot faster.
I installed this BusyBox app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.busybox&hl=en
I didn't have to remove the current BusyBox installation as it installed over it. So far my phone is fast and the battery life is amazing!
I’ll keep this updated. If you have any tips as well post them here and I’ll be sure to add them, thank you!

Quick question, what app do you use to tune the BIG processors? CPU control will only adjust the two smaller cores. How do I get the larger cores to lock to 300mhz min and 2100mhZ MAX
I have tried kernel auditor and it does not seem to stick after hour or so of use. So I'm looking for another tuning option
Thanks for the L speed recommendation

I believe you mean RW. The chinese Aurora ROM has RW in all folders, but it is a bit bugged due to being a CHN CSC. I had trouble with keys cafe, but could fix it. I couldn't make Samsung Dex work and gave up on it. You can try that.
Or wait for some good dev to make a kernel or something that makes system RW. I think @afaneh92 is the one that can do that.
EDIT: I say we should see what Aurora Rom did and do the same to get that full system RW, hahaha. But I'm no dev and not knowledgeable enough. I'm up to help and test if needed, though.

Why thefiredragon the publisher of VendorRW did not give me credit and deleted me from my own program while at the same time crediting himself and his friends inside my script? That's pure evil right there!
What's his xda user name? Please @Thefiredragon if you can read this contact me. I am waiting for your apology. Thanks!
I am willing to give you another chance if you do the right things from now on. You should properly give credits if you use other people's hard work! Asking for permission is even better! And you can't just delete other fellow open source programmers from their own program and put your name on it and reupload it. That's just wrong!
If only you hadn't deleted me from my own program, I would've almost liked your VendorRW copycat script.
You have potential to become a good programmer some day (if you switch from the dark side of the force to the good side of the force that is). And you should definitely work on your creativity. You seem to be lacking that. Go outside in nature and get some inspiration. Read a book or something. Who knows maybe some day you will become creative enough to come up with your own program from scratch like I did.
And you deleting all my comments and my disclaimer from my script is just inexcusable! That's usually the first thing these intellectual property thieves do...
Open source ain't what it used to be...

Idk what that was about, but I believe you can help us get full system RW as well. I sent you a PM so I can help (anyway I'm capable). Let's do this =)
@maliki it's not about the explorer. We do not have system RW, so even that root explorer says it's RW, you won't be able to edit files there. We need a kernel.
Basically I want to be able to remove all of the system apps that I would normally on a Samsung device. As well as remove sounds at it sounds edit the s pen and at the charge sound etc. Basically all the extra stuff nobody else does but I love to do.
I'm actually in the process of returning this phone to sender tomorrow just for this cause. So once this gets resolved if it does I will purchase again potentially. Really hate to send it back because I do like the phone but this is my make or break. Get another reason I really hate Android 12.
Another reason is I can't get YouTube Vance to work. If I could get YouTube Vance to work as well as viper4android I'd probably MAYBE keep the phone. But not being able to edit and remove system apps entirely instead of just disabling is really a turn-off.

I completely feel you. I am just the same. I love doing those small tweaks. However I don't have tje option to return the phone, nor would I because of that.
And unless you get an older phone with an older android version, you're probably going to get the same issue.
I spent weeks trying to make Viper4Android to work with no success. I'm not even sure why tje drivers couldn't be installed. Maybe something about its library not being compatible with newer 64 phonea, which means that we would have to wait forbsomeone to update the app (maybe forever). Then, I managed to get JamesDSP to work just like V4A or even better. Jdsp is as good, if not better, than v4a. It's just waay nore complex to set and you need files for convolver and ddc. But you can get a better sound than V4A. Look for it.
About Vanced, i just installed it right now. However, I read somewhere that Google finally got them and they wont be able to update the app, which means that when YouTube gets more updates and vanced can't keep up, it won't work anymore. So we might start looking for another solution soon.
You are mistaking Read/Only with Read/Write. We want R/W. And to get that we need experient devs like the ones I called in this thread.
@lebigmac is a dev that developed a tool that gave RW access and worked for several devices. I'm sure with some tweaks he will be able to get it on S22 line.
And we know it's possible because the chinese did it in their rom.

You should get it anyway, if you liked it, because probably we will get system rw soon here in xda.
I'm going to probably hold off and wait until it is 100%. So to further make sure I understand you plainly, you can go into the system root folder and delete pre-installed apps like tag and YouTube and Google maps and all that correct? Can you send me a link to the specific Aurora firmware?
But to answer your question I absolutely love the phone! But for the cause of the above mentioned I had to get rid of it.

Well, I didn't do that when I was with Aurora rom, but yeah, i could edit folders that i can't right now with just the TWRP (vendor rw only).
I wasn't the only one that flashed aurora. You can ask people in this thread here:
Need to install Auora chinese cutsom rom. Anybody chinese here?
I have received snapdragon variant in my country that wont support much custom rom but i seen auroa chinese custom rom but I'm unable to download from chinese website. Can someone Chinese share Auroa rom here so that I can enjoy your chinese rom...

As well as find links for the TWRP and rom.
However, i dont recommend the rom, because due to the chinese CSC i had some issues. Keys cafe had to be tweaked to work and Samsung Dex didn't work and i didnt even have the patience to try make it work. Got back to stock.
If you loved the phone you will get it back, lol. Wait a bit for full rw folders and you'll be happier than ever.
