Nope. You're not missing anything. Sprint, in their infinite wisdom, have made their phones unable to be connected to data at the same time as a phone call is taking place.... Something that we were able to do with their phones 2 years ago but cannot do any longer. It's stupid. But there you have it.
One year ago I was able to, I came from the note 3... really tempted to go back.
Edit: all spark phones are single radio. It's a joke. What's the point of even bringing the call up on the edge panel to not interrupt my app, if I can't play clash while on the phone?!

There should be the option inside of cellular networks inside settings. Personally I haven't even on TMobile since before the smartphone days but you "should" be able to change it. Don't hold me to that however

I'm unsure how to help, it might be the VZW S3 doesn't play well on TMobiles network
Sent from my Nexus 5
Hello everyone..
I had a Galaxy S3 with Sprint and was happy I was able to browse and talk at the same time but can't anymore because of this Sprint Spark network. I've read hand full of messages about this issue and ppl are still pissed about it. I wished Sprint would have installed 2 antennas into my recently upgraded Galaxy S5 (and other Spark phones) while they are still working out the kinks. I use data and talk all the time, especially if I'm using the GPS. And definitely because I have a side gig where I drive and use GPS and talk on the phone for dropoffs/pickups.
My question is, has anyone figured out a work around to this issue to be able to talk and use data? And I'm not talking about using WiFi.
I was thinking if there's a hack where we can physically replace the antennae with the older LTE antenna,?
If the current Spark is triband, does that mean it should still be compatible with the older LTE versions? Is there a way to disable Spark, and use the other band so we can talk and browse?
Rooting apps?
I have 1 week left before deciding to stay with Sprint, or simply just use an older phone--i suppose the Galaxy S4. Or Tmobile would be the next better affordable carrier, but too bad they don't take corporate discounts anymore.
I hope when VoLTE rolls out, it is compatble with the GS5 and I won't need to get another device and its software related on my end. I read rumours it should have been mid-2015, but now I read some other msgs late 2015, nothing official.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
Just wanted the opinion of people who have the Galaxy S7. Simply put, should I get this phone or would you have a different phone if you had the choice, having had the S7 for a while? Sorry, a really noob question but would really appreciate some help . :good:
I got an S7 when i did retire my S4 mini ( Well not fully retired, i will use it as a GPS in car )
I`m happy with it. No more custom roms ( no need at all ) . Speed is awesome, battery is great, build quality is way over S4 mini, screen is larger ( got tired of that small one ), camera is way better ( tho i don`t use it so much )
If u have the money for it, then hell yeah.
I love my S7. Best phone I ever had.

Its possibly the best phone out right now.
My current android phone top 3:
1. Galaxy s7 and s7 edge
2. HTC 10
3. LG G5
Of course all flagship phones.
Honestly, I'm debating trading mine in for a 64 GB S6. I'm tired of fighting all the bugs.
First S7 wouldn't read an SD card, returned it for a new one after a week.
Second S7 won't keep an LTE connection for more than 3 days. Drops to emergency calls only mode. Telus has reset the network connection twice. On my second SIM card, no change. If I force it to 4G-only mode, then it works better, but too slow.
And now it's having issues with dropping wireless connection. Shows a link but 0bps transfers.
If the 3rd S7 has any issues I'm upgrading to an S6. 3 strikes and you're out!
The wife's S6 has been running perfectly on the same carrier.

Buy the S7 or S7 Edge. It is SOOOOO much better than your S4 Mini. Battery, performance, camera, Screen, Build Quality, Water Resistance,....
Best phone EVER.

Unlike my N4 I was wondering if the N7 has the option to be on a call and still be able to use data simultaneously... That was the biggest bummer for me with the Note 4.
I wanna upgrade to the N7 but it is a feature that is actually very useful, for when you are on a call and need to send a file or look something up on the internet..
thanks!

Nope. Sprint will not have this ability until it upgrades it's network to VoLTE. Probably in a few years, as there is not any sort of hint they are beginning to upgrade their towers.

aww man!!
I remember when I had my htc Evo 4g LTE and it did work..
I wonder why being a sprint phone it worked ad not on Samsung?
I believe it worked on WiMAX but when Sprint abandoned that and moved to LTE, that functionality disappeared. Beezar is right. Sprint won't have it again for a while.

My note 3 did it but only in 4g areas
Sent from my SM-N930P using XDA-Developers mobile app
The note 3 had separate antennas for data and voice.
Bluefox is right, sprint phones only have one antenna that the voice and data share. I've looking into this, and that's what I was told.
Alright... I'm so excited for my 2nd note to come. This is also my 2nd sprint but who cares right? My last note was the Note 4 from at&t and i kinda miss it. But the battery kept overheating and I couldn't flash a rom on the phone. But I know I can if I have a sprint or a tmobile galaxy. Lol I seen YouTube and XDA.. So What's the Best Rom for this note?
I need everything for this thing.( Recovery,Rom...(S8/Note 8 port), everything). I'm using my s6 edge on tmobile and the signal is really low. I mean I still get good 4g lte signal but around 1 to 3 bars. Especially when I'm on the phone with somebody. Wifi calling is included. Hotspot is included. Almost everything works except binge on and visual voicemail. I can get the phone unlocked it's been paid in full.. I just need this thing to run like it's successor (note fe or note 8). it be cool to have the sprint 4g lte icons and the sprint boot up screen and make it feel more authentic with Better speeds and everything and I think that's what sprint has one up on. But I love tmobile so thats why I want this to run as a sprint phone using tmobile. Especially with extended range? I need help and input.
I'm not sure n920p is going to work well for you from a WiFi calling standpoint. Sprint WiFi calling isn't compatible with TMobile's system so the ROM will have to be tailored to work. I had a similar issue with Mint Sim with my Sprint Note 5.
