Just got an LG G3 for my wife. She loves the phone (coming from Nokia 1520, her last android was an Infuse) everything works as it should except the darn visual voicemail.
Here is what it is doing:
Open the app
It tells me to call voicemail and hit end
Call voicemail and enter her password and all is good.
Hit end
It goes back to the visual voicemai app and says "setting up account"
Then I get an error saying "Account Verification Has Not been Received"
My 3 options are call voicemail again (did that same result) make sure I have a good signal (full bars with 4g) and call AT&T. (Did that and they couldn't figure it out either)
So here I am asking for help from the wonderful folks at XDA!
Has anyone else had this problem? I would prefer not to use third party unless that is the only option. Her phone is not rooted nor Rom'd, it is factory out of the box.
Thanks for your time everyone

what worked for me was let it call voicemail put in password listen to the options hit * to end call then finish setting up v mail
Thanks for the reply!
I upgraded to the g3 today as well from a note 2 and mine was doing the same thing. I went to an actual att store and they got it working. It seems that when they did the upgrade someone checked the wrong box and took away our visual voicemail. They had it fixed in 5 minutes at the store. Not sure what the phone supports problem was lol!
Thanks again

just recieved my phone today. Everything looks awesome except I cant get rid of the New Voicemail Notification on the status bar. It always says that there is a new voicemail and when I click and call to my voicemail, it says there is no voicemail. I did a factory reset and followed the quick set up on the first boot. I changed my voicemail service to my google voice and I also tried the T-mobile visual voice service and still cant get rid of the damn notification. I even called the tmo tech support and they couldnt figured it out. When I put my sim card back to my vibrant, it doesnt have the notification there. Any other suggestions?
I had this happen to me a long time ago...I think what I did was reset my voice mail back to t-mobile, then I called and left myself a voice mail...then called in to check my voice mails, and deleted the mail I just left, and the icon went away.
Not sure if it will work for you, but probably worth a try...
yes yes i did the samething
Thanks guys, it worked!
I figured this out this morning too. All i did was leave myself a voicemail and it cleared immediately.
Hello, This is my first post, I've done a lot of searching on here and google and am at my wits end with my google voice account and my new phone (Droid Charge).
It was working fine with my previous phone...and still does if i swap it to foward to it (Sprint - Blackberry Style).
I'm running PBJT kernel, and GummyCharged 1.7.5 - and did a wipe and cleared all of the options available to clear when flashing my rom.
Here is the problem: When I add my verizon droid charge's phone number into my google voice account it wants me to verify the phone. I hit call to verify but I never get the call. The only issue I could find on google voice help was people having problem entering the two digit code after the call comes through. That's not my problem. My call never comes through.
If I set it to another number, a different cell phone or land line...it rings and I can enter the 2 digit code, and it's working perfectly.
If I try to use the "add this phone" through google voice on my droid charge. It looks like it verifies because on the google.com/voice in the phones section it no longer says I need to verify. However, still having an issue because if you call the google voice number, it will not ring my verizon number (droid charge). It's worth noting that If I text it works. Just not the calls. Also if I leave a voicemail it will notify me on my phone as it should. The application works fine, etc. Just have never gotten it to ring my phone.
I'm about ready to have Verizon try and change my phone number, but wanted to ask here if anyone had any ideas to try. I honestly cannot remember if I tried to do it before rooting this phone, but my gut tells me I tried and it still didnt work. And yes, the checkbox to "forward calls to phone" is checked.
I've also tried from a friends google voice account seperate from mine. Tried to have them add my number, then when they need to do the verification step that calls the phone....of course...I never get the call.
Frustrating!
Thank you for any insight...
Is your GV number your primary number? If not you could also port your number over as an alternitave: google.com/support/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1065667
I know that there is an error saying my carrier is not supported when I try to setup my voicemail with the Charge, so I think it is either the phone or LTE. I had no problems setting it up when I used my Moto Droid, so I know Verizon works.
Since I'm already setup, I just ignore the error. That might not help you much, but like the suggestion porting your number will be your best bet. I hear switching back to a 3g phone temporarily will disable your sim card, and you'll have another headache on your hands.
Thanks for the replies. My sister actually has the same phone but stock etc etc. Going to have it forward to hers and see if that is a fix. I dont really want to have my google voice be my only number but I may do that porting if worse comes to worse.

Hello all Xda'ers,
First of all, I am deaf and I was put on a special data plan that is customized for the hard of hearing and deaf subscribers. When I first got my NS4G, I got that voicemail icon as soon as I walked out of Sprint store. I should have went back to talk to the rep but I was late for work.
With that said, since May 8th, I still have that icon and I have been looking for solutions to remove it. I have searched this site as well as other sites for any remedies but with no avail. I do have Google Voice and have had GV set to use my current phone number so the voicemail can be ported over then I disabled GV after 20 minutes and the voicemail icon is STILL THERE!!!
I even tried Youmail and my heart jumped when it said I had one voicemail message and I was like YES! but then it was the youmail voicemail, probably greeting and congratulating me for installing youmail on my phone, because I saw what the message was and deleted it, but nope, VM icon is still there...
I have read somewhere, where you power down the phone, take the battery out for 30 seconds then put it back and power back on and it should be gone. Well, I did that and even waited 5 minutes and as soon as my homescreen came up, bam! voicemail icon appears. I told my Sprint rep that I can't remove it and he said something that struck me as odd. He said the NS4G has a visual voicemail and I should be able to remove it with no problem. I searched everywhere on the phone and couldn't find it. He said he got the same phone, even bought it right after selling me and my wife the phones. I emailed back and haven't heard from him since so...
I really don't want to put a ROM on this phone, probably because I have been putting it off since but other than putting a ROM on my phone, is there a solution to finally get that VM icon off?
Oh, to add, I have had my hearing friend call my voicemail for me, but he said that the automated response was something like, "This is no longer in service, the number you are trying to dial does not exist" or something like that, but he was NOT able to access my voicemail at all.
Sorry if this has been resolved elsewhere, but I had searched everywhere on this forum as well as all over the Internet as you can tell, it took me since May 8th to finally give up and post this on Xda, but why? You all are awesome!
I'm having this problem too ever since we got my wife the mytouch 4g slide. The CSR told me that I needed a new sim card. We put it in my NS and there is the icon.
I'm currently trying to put it back on T-Mobile voicemail service and calling my line from my work cell. It went to my GVoice so far so I guess I need to leave it for longer.
Pyro,
Since you are on Sprint I may have a solution. I also have this happen once in a while. After spending much time on the phone with Sprint here is their solution. Go to a land line phone and call your cell. Let it go to voice mail, give it a couple of minutes. Now on your cell go to your voice mail. You should have the message you left yourself. Listen to it all the way through and only press "7" to delete the message after the system prompts you to. After deleting the message hang up. The voice mail notification should disappear. This is a known Sprint problem, according to Sprint. If this doesn't work, take your phone to a Sprint repair center.
Good luck.
I just re-read your post. If your problem is the same as mine, you may have to have a hearing friend do this. I am not sure what Sprint may have installed on your phone to make it more usable for you.
Anyone get Visual Voicemail working with build 7720 ?
I'm on T-Mobile and had them turn it on earlier today but the phone is unable to enable it.
I'm going to verify it's enabled on an Android phone tomorrow.
Thanks
Yeah
I got a TMOUS HD7 and it works fine.
I already subscribed to Visual Voicemail from previous phones. I enabled it through Phone Setting, under where it has your phone number.

oops forgot to report the error I am getting when I try to enable it:
"Something happened and we couldn't set up your visual voicemail. Make sure you have a cellular signal and try again. You may also need to contact your operator to enable this on your current phone plan"
I think i just need to have some patience for it to get enabled.
Call and leave a voicemail on your phone. That's how I got mine to activate. I didn't even have to "enable" it... it just turned on.
i the same message too on 7720
oops forgot to report the error I am getting when I try to enable it:
i can not figure it out yet
i had that problem on build 7712 but i just kept trying then after a day it worked..

I am on T-Mobile USA and I can confirm that the VVM is working on 7720 and the Mango betas before as well. Just make sure the feature is active on your account.
Working fine here too.Tmous HD7 with 7720
it works now, seems like enabling Visual Voicemail is a 2 step process and I had to call in and have a 2nd engineer spend about 10+ minutes fixing the problem. He ended up having to reset my voicemail completely.
The ironic thing is the Android phone I was using as my control still thinks it's disabled, tries to enable it, apparently succeeds but still thinks it's disabled.
I'm using an LG Optimus 7 that was recently updated to 7720. Seems to be working fine, save for a few minor issues: one of them being Visual Voicemail. I have it set up on my account, evidently, and I can enable it just fine, but when I go to play back any of the message, there is no audio. It acts as if it's playing the message, but you can't hear anything: not from the earpiece, the speaker, or over a bluetooth headset.
Anyone else run into this?
Lastly, what "Voicemail Number" do you have listed? My phone defaulted to some strange international number that it couldn't even dial. I've since replaced it with "123", which dials fine, but I'm not sure if that's what I'm supposed to have in there. I'm on T-Mo USA.
Thoughts?
VVM is now working on my HD7. Took about a day for it to accept the visual voice mail function versus the two hours the rep told me. It wasn't getting any messages to show up so I cycled the phone and now it seems to be working fine.
t-mobile told me that the feature is not supported.
I can't get vvm to work on 7720. I have added vvm to my account.
I'm running the hd7
FIX
I found this on another thread. text
"Activate:dt=6" to 122
without the quotes
My phone is setup to use Google Voice for voicemails, but as of a couple days ago VMs are no longer going to GV and instead goes to the standard verizon voicemail.
Now when someone leaves me a voice mail, I get a notification in the notification bar, but I get the standard VM notification, not the GV one and nothing ever shows up in GV. Ive set my phones "voicemail service" setting to "my carrier" and deactivated GV (by dialing *73) and then able to access the Verizon VM via *86. I then tried reactivating GV by dialing *7 then my GV number and uninstalled/reinstalled GV app on my phone, but people are still directed to the verizon VM and not GV.
The only thing Ive changed in the last couple days is Ive applied the wifi prompt hack from here and the Wifi Toggle mod from here (which Ive since run the "return to stock" package).
Im running rooted stock ICS and below is a screenshot of the notification.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
In call settings, is Google voice an option?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
There is and it's currently selected.
I have the same problem - callers hear "this voicemail has not been setup" even though my GV greeting is set.
edit - to OP, make sure you've activated your phone number for GV voicemail in the google voice website.
Are the phone and correct number listed in Google Voice settings (online) as having been activated for Google voicemail?
You mentioned using *7GoogleVoiceNumber - isn't it supposed to be *71GoogleVoiceNumber ?
- ooofest
I have had this happen once or twice, each time I would have to dial *71<then your google voice number> and hit the send call button. This basically tells Verizon to forward missed calls to your GV voicemail.
You can also call Verizon and ask them what your call forwarding is set to, and they can fix it there as well.
For what it is worth though, I have been able to use the setup Voicemail feature within Google Voice, it would always come back with some kind of carrier issue.
Try the following 3:
*71 GV #
*90 GV #
*92 GV #
Ive verified Google Voice is configured for voice mails via the web site (which you can see in the 1st screenshot below). Ive also verified my voicemail carrier is set to Google Voice and that it matches my actual google voice number (seen in screenshots 2 and 3).
Ive also dialed the 3 numbers in the previous post (*71, *90, *92 + GV#) and verified voicemails are still being left on verizon. Ill call them tomorrow to verify my phone is in fact fowarding as it should be though.
Finally, just to make sure GV was actually working I also verified that calling my actual google voice number and leaving a voicemail does show the notification on my phone in the GV app.
Really not sure how in the heck this happened, like I said, Ive been using this without issue for months, and it wasnt until a day or two ago that this started happening. Is it possible that either of those hacks/mods applied caused this? I didnt realize until after I applied them that some mods require a deodexed ROM, so wasnt sure if that was the culprit.
Hoping to figure this out rather then revert to an old nandroid backup.
Thanks again all, really appreciate the responses so far.

I had this problem too... On my Galaxy Nexus I could just play back my voice mails right through my main phone applications phone log but now with this phone I had to uncheck the box in google voice (on your phone) that says "Voicemail Display" allowing you to view and playback your voicemails from your call log. Soooo, I get all of my notifications now but they are through the google voice app instead of my phone app... Does this make any sense to you cause I am really tired but I tried everything and this was the best option... So uncheck the box for "Voicemail display" in google voice settings on your phone and you should be good to go if that is what you are looking for?? Also you can go right to your account online and make sure it is setup to forward to your gv number... Just go to "My Verizon and then My plans and services and then you will see a image at the top right of the screen saying "I want to" and hit the plus sign and you will see the options for forwarding your number.... Again, hope this helps a little but I don't know how your setup was before so I am just basing it on what my setup is...

While I didnt really follow the first part of your post, I did try changing forwarding via My Verizon as you mentioned and sure enough, that did the trick! For whatever reason the * commands must not have been working, but all works as it should now.
Thanks!
Yesterday 1 call went to my Verizon voicemail. All the rest went to Google Voice. It was late in the evening (around 6pm est). Working fine this morning. Someone must have pulled the wrong switch again at the mothership.

When I first configured my Verizon line and Android phone for Google Voice (with my Droid Incredible), it turned out that I had to call Verizon to have them properly enable forwarding because the * codes were not working. They said there was a configuration problem with my account, which took a couple levels of Support to eventually fix. So, I guess that means they could accidentally screw up anyone's account after-the-fact, too.
