Ok so after some brainstorming and a LOT rebooting, I finally figured out how the boot animation works on stock G3 ROMs.
I took the animation from the Nexus 6 factory image, and made some modifications so it runs like its supposed to. It would not finish before the boot has ended, neither will it be incomplete.; no matter what you boot time is.
Confirmed working on any model and any LG based ROM! (even LG lollipop) :good:
NEW
Added resized bootanimation from Marshmallow's stock animation (bootanimation_LGM.zip)
I have added a shutdown animation per request of some users.
I did it backwards so it starts by fading in the "android" word and then it disintegrates into the particles and then finally it goes black until shutdown. Let me know what you think and if you have any problems, like the animation not finishing completely before shutting down.
It should work on all LG based ROMs just like the boot animation, but report back if it doesn't
I have also added boot and shutdown animations for AOSP based ROMs, since they don't use animations for the quickcircle.
Instructions: (you must be rooted)
Download the animations based on your ROM (LG or AOSP based)
go to /system/media folder and rename bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak and shutdownanimation.zip to shutdownanimation.zip.bak
move downloaded zip files to /system/media folder
remove suffix from files (bootanimation_LG.zip to bootanimation.zip)
set 644 (rw-r--r--) permisions (no sticky permission needed)
reboot and enjoy!
Some technical explanation
It turns out that the ROM uses the first half of the folders in the bootanimation.zip for a different animation when booting with the Quickcircle case. No matter what they are named or the files, or what is in them; it will always do this. So I went ahead and created 6 more folders to the start of the list (part0_0 to part0_5) and just added an only image from the stock LG Quickcircle animation (if you use quickcircle case you would notice when booting up with the case).
After that I noticed that on the description file (desc.txt) you have to leave the way it is on the nexus devices: (c 1 0 part1_2) instead of (p 1 0 part1_2); because the way the Lollipop notification works is that it loops the folder "part1_3" in this case, so you see the particles until boot is complete and then it shows the "android" word and fade away before getting to the lockscreen. If I change it to (p 1 0 part1_2) it would never show the android word and would get to the lockscreen as soon as it finishes boot. If I use the "c" it tells it to complete the animation before getting to lockscreen. This is why the animation is not humongus in size, compared to other Lollipop animations for the G3 (no offense)
Next thing I did was to up the resolution, but I don't have to do it to every single image, I just set the resolution that I want in the description file, and that's it. I didn't set it to take the whole screen (side to side) because for me it didn't look that good, but if you want I can make it for you, and even set it to the stock Nexus resolution.
Also, if you want a different quickcircle animation, just send me the file and I'll see what I can do
Its fantastic!!! No more black screen at the end!! Many thanks
yes, its made so that no matter how much time the boot takes, it never finishes before time or the other way around.
did you liked the size of it?
Sorry, i should've tried it rather than asking this..
Is there any choppiness? Because on the Chupachups theme I experienced choppy animation & not attractive, thank you!

Well, I'm up scaling the image a little bit, but for me there is no chopiness. . If you want I can upload it with the stock image size and you can test both and just choose what you like

I think this is the perfect lollipop boot animation for the G3 right now. Fast and crisp.

The animation is what you are describing... It's actually the exact boot animation in the nexus 6 and 9 (and also in the 7 and 5 I think)

I think something's missing here, I'm on D855 international version running lollipop.
There's stilll LG Logo at first, and then when the led starts to blink, it's when 'android' showed up in the center of the screen without much animation, just some light gradient.

That's weird because he is using my bootanimation.zip... What version of that theme are you using? 2.0 or 2.1? Try 2.1 because it's the one with my boot animation, and see if it runs completely and report back
Will this work with quick circle case? Like for instance the stock D851 and unbranded Lg boot animations will fit in the circle viewer. A lot of others do not.. Saw something in the OP about it but not sure if it already exists.
Smooth and small all the other's I have is like 60megs and up
It's perfect… killer job

Keep up the excellent work!

I was a bit quick to mention that... i rebooted the device and all is working fine and all of the previous minor gripes are fixed too... top job! One thing i would like tweaking... is it possible to change the text colour on the dialog boxes (example google acc setup) you have white on very light grey which is barely visible.
thanks again.

JBoogie beta3 works fine for me =)
Yes i found this too although not sure how to do a screen capture.
I can explain though... start new text message and click to add name. At the bottom where it says 'done' the button is grey and text is white. So the text is hard to read. Normally the button is dark grey and the text is white.
Hope this helps. I will buy u a big beer if you can get 2.2 up and stable.

FULLSCREEN BOOTANIMATION
Has anyone else ever found that the Paranoid Android boot animation being 720*1280 annoyed them? Maybe even slightly?
It didn't really bug me until a friend brought it up.
Anyways, I've made the boot animation fullscreen (800*1280) and I just thought I would share.
Installation
- put the attached (or mediafire mirror) bootanimation.zip file in your /system/media folder using your favourite root enabled explorer
- say yes to replace
- make sure the permissions are rw-r--r-- so like an upside down L or:
x x -
x - -
x - -
whichever makes sense to you.
- reboot and enjoy. ^^
If for whatever reason you want to revert back to the original 720*1280 bootanimation, I've uploaded it here.
You will need to rename orig_bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip first though.
CAMERA FIX (creds. theguy)
The PA builds used a CM9 nightly that contained a bug that caused the camera to go all screwy in external apps, such as Skype and Barcode Scanners.
While this is fixed in the later CM9 builds, PA has yet to be updated to incorporate those fixes.
By replacing the PA libcameraservice.so file from a later CM9 build, the camera issue can be fixed.
Installation
- download the libcameraservice.so file from http://db.tt/L0J33M7p
- put it in your /system/lib
- say yes to replace
- change permissons to rw-r--r-- (refer to above)
- reboot and enjoy ^^
Thanks! This bootanimation was nice and cute!:fingers-crossed:
Good job bro=D

I'm guessing your rom doesn't support bootanimation.zip custom animations.
You might have to double check with Utacka.

I want to change the battery charging animation that lights up when the phone is charged while it is still switched-off.
Can someone share the the path of the system file/folder which must be modded to change the animation or maybe replacing the PNG files?
i have searched the web for this for quit some time didn't find anything. so hopefully i can get some help with this making this post.
I am using a Galaxy note N7000 and its running on Cyanogenmod 10.2.
If someone could help me out with this that would be great. Thanks
From what I read it isn't something related to Android (like the Kernel) but in the Bootloader.
Chainfire made an app for some devices, see:

In a comment a user writes that it works on the Note (stock, rooted). See and try for yourself.
thanks for your reply but i need to change my battery animation completely like how its charging .
this app only let me use their default design.
hope i still get an instruction how to change the battery animation on cm and by battery animation i mean the charging battery animation when you phone is switched off and charging.

And if you read what I wrote or if you would have searched yourself in XDA for this you might accept that this is difficult (and until now only Chainfire made it which is a message by itself).
So no "instructions" but real development.
And why "I need"? It's only a gimmick changing animations, no real advanced feature, isn't it?

Title says all! I need a tester to test this base touchwiz rom for me. I'm not responsible for damages but you should be fine if you know how to get out of bootloops.
Basically, if this base rom works, I will open a development thread and people can use this base and modify things as they would like and make their own custom rom without hassling with updater script. Also, if this base rom works, I will *maybe* make a custom rom for this device. Though I don't own this device, I have made many custom roms and also custom themes for devices I don't own.

Its just a test rom making sure I didn't mess things up. Thank you very much for testing BTW! I will add a few things such as deknox it and do a lot more.
This is a base rom for any dev to use and add their own mods. Since you confirmed it working, I will create two development threads, one for this base in which devs can mod, one for when I start to add things to this rom and make it my own.
I will definitely add some sort of custom bootanimation, debloat a bit and bunch more. I saw that superstocked rom hasn't been updated due to dev probably have real life issues. It will be something similar to that but not to fancy.

Well, hello again. I've been digging through the recently posted Android 8.1 system images, and I've noticed there's a new bootanimation on the Pixels.
Simple flashable zip here, nothing fancy. I've personally tested this on Unofficial LineageOS 15 (20171005). It worked.
Instructions
- Flash the zip in recovery.
- Reboot and enjoy.
NOTE: There aren't any uninstall instructions, it's your responsibility to back up your /system/media/bootanimation.zip if you want to revert back to whatever you had before.
Awesome! Working flawlessly on LOS 14.1 too.

Both light and dark versions are 1080*1920 so itll fit better than this one. Try it!
Black one isnt official so is a bit jagged caz had to edit each picture individually. Light ones dope though.
