Hi guys, i have recently bought an xperia z3 with android 4.4.4. Did not tamper or alter roms nor factory settings at all but then the system suddenly rertarts itself (was leaving it on the table). This happened around 5 times and the sony call center told me to use the PC companion program to repair my phone. Did that, system restart happened again so i decided to send my phone to the sony warranty center. They "FIXED" it by clearing my whole system with their factory program and told me that an application was causing it to crash. I enquired the apps that was causing the problem.but they couldnt answer and not a hardware problem. (the apps i use are facebook, line, reddit, skype, dropbox... The basic ones)
I would like to ask.you guys if its possible that an application can cause such an issue on an android phone?
Ps. I am thinking of sending it back to sony to let them diagnose my phone once again.
Thanks in advance

A software fault can definitely make your phone crash and restart. If your phone works fine after they fixed it by factory resetting, it confirms that it's a software problem. Anyway if you are still facing the same problem, it's good to let them diagnose your phone just to be on the safe side.

I've been searching for a thread in wich this was allready posted, but I couldn't find one, anyways... as the title suggest I bought a SE Wt19i unlocked it's only 1 day old and it keeps reseting at random intervals, somewhere like 20 resets every 5 hours, I've done a factory reset, I've done a format SD card, I've searched the topic on official sony ericsson site and alot of people have this issue and sony suggested we take the device back to the shop and ask for a replace, well gj sony but a problem that occurs on more than 1000 devices is no coincidence.
If any of you found a resolve I would appriciate it if you would share it with us SE Wt19i loosers .... btw I did 3 factory resets, and I updated the phone
Carrier : unlocked
Having the same problem here. Nothing seems to help. I even reinstalled the phone software and it still restarts around 10 times every hour.
it stopped reseting as soon as I pluged in it's original card with 2Gb, now it's not really a walkman... with ony 2 Gb or music , so the issue may be the speed class of the card.
I'm using the SE provided MicroSd and I still have the problem. The only workaround I found for this problem is to switch on Tethering. Your battery will drain fast, but at least it doesn't have random reboots.
This one is actually new to me. I spend many hours each day in the official Sony Ericsson Support Forum and I have not seen this before.
If the only way to get the phone working again is to turn on tethering something's clearly wrong.
If you already have updated or repaired the software with PC Companion I suggest you try to start the phone in safe mode just to rule out the possibility of a 3rd party app/service causing this. Press and hold the Menu button during start up to get it in safe mode. This will bypass all 3rd party stuff. If the reboots still occur after this you might want to consider sending the phone to a service center.
I should also add that we're soon going to start a roll out of a new software (planned for week 2). This is meant to improve the memory handling to avoid reboots. Not sure your problem is related to this though but it could be an idea to wait for this to see if it solves the problem.
Check with the local support teams to get info on the service locations.

Hello Markus,
How can this be new to you when this is the exact same problem mentioned in the Neo V reboot problem thread in the Sony Ericsson Support Forum that you regularly reply to? In fact, I got the solution of preventing restarts by using tethering from another of the Neo Reboot threads in SE Support forum.
I've tried everything, running in safe mode, re-installing the software, repairing, uninstalling the uninstallable pre loaded apps. Nothing works.
The fixes that do work drain the battery in like 4-5 hours. But, this is a better option than having random reboots every 5 minutes.
I've found that having the walkman player always on and playing in zero volume seems to stop the reboots. Also, using an application that always keeps the display on also seems to solve the problem. Both these methods use battery too much and the phone heats up. I only hope that the update you're going to release on the 2nd week of January fixes this problem or you'll see a mass of SE Xperia handsets returning to Sony Ericsson.
I don't know why everyone says this, but this is not an uncommon problem. 2 of my friends have the same problem and both use different Xperia models. The problem is so common that searching for 'Xperia Reboot' or 'Xperia Restart' on google gives a ton of results pointing to discussion threads such as this.

The update does not help WT19i stop reboot.
(4.0.2.A.0.58)
What else can I do?
@darklift,
I have of course seen the issue or reboots since I've been quite active and keep track of that thread in our own forum. I can however not recall the tethering option to be a working solution. Fully possible someone have said it before but I can't remember that.
@thuhue,
That's a different update.
The software version we release to fix the reboots with is called 4.0.2.A.0.6x.
The global roll out will start next week.
Hey man, where did you get it unlocked from?

I have a weird problem which i'm experiencing often (not always but once or twice daily). While on a phone call for a good length of time my phone will spontaneously restart. before this spontaneous restart the phone call goes on speaker for 6-8 seconds. during this time I can hear the voice on the other side through speaker, but the person on the other side can't hear me. then i see the "Xperia" startup logo & the phone restarts. its not like a regular restart. during a regular restart the "Sony" logo appears first, then the "Xperia" logo.
my phone's specs are:
Xperia J, JellyBean, everything stock, never rooted.

you're right!! i found it!!! but before starting repair i want to ask you 2 questions:
1. does repair wipe all data on a phone?
2. how much megabytes it downloads during the process? (its showing 30 mins) but i have a slow internet connection.
it does take a while. yes it will reset your phone back up your apps first
problem still persists

then maybe is your phone hardware problem?
take it to service center,or try to root your phone and use CUSTOM rom.
Try to do settings - clear all. Before you do root it, you should send it first the service. Use the warranty instead. Tell them you did use pc companion and update service.

Hello all,
I have bought an htc 8x about 1 month ago.
But i have a big problem, my phone have randomly reset issue.
There is a randomly reset problem with this device that should be solved by software update. But update didn't solved my issue.
It cause when i am calling or in standby. I guessed that the cause of reset is the sim-card or network, and i ghanged my sim-card and carrier but not solved. So, i guessed that the problem is by network totally, and i removed my sim card and started device without any simcard. But reset occurs randomly.
So, i have not another idea to fix this problem. It is good to know htc have not free warranty and services in my country due to embargo(IRAN).
I'm very sad for this issue.
THINK THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURS FOR YOUR DEVICE AND LET ME KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, PLEASE.
So if it is possible, mark this threat as important admin. please....
You can try reinstalling your SIM card.
Hard reset or flash the rom

If your phone is security unlock, you can do flash the original rom.
Before flashing, you can try with hard reset.
reset
if your phone is hardware revision 0001 (you can find it by tapping settings > about > more information) then you are screwed, i am afraid, as i had the exact same issue and returned the phone 4 times , after trying every trick i could find, they eventually gave me a new phone with a hardware revision of 0002 that does not have the random reboot issue. Even though they deny there was anything wrong with the original phone and said they were replacing it as a courtesy.
Hi there all!
So my 1+1 is freshlly bought a few months ago and did not make any problems up til now when suddenlly my market apps(such as shazam) suddenly disappeared from my phone. Apart from this when i try to go on the market and download them i get an UNKNOWN ERROR. Adding a little bit more extra to this case is the fact that i tryed to restart it with no success then i have decided to factory reset the phone. Done this and when I start the phone up nothing has changed and my middle digital capacitor is not working.
Any one else had this problem, or maybe someone could advise me on how to fix this issue?
Best regards,
Vuk!
Hey!
So I have been using an android phone from 3 years now and I have been stuck in an huge problem! And I need your help in order to solve this problem. Here is the problem so basically I have a Freetel nico (Japanese brand) which is about 3 to 4 years now running on top of stock kitkat rom or in other words the same rom when I unboxed it. After few months my screen cracked on the bottom near the capacitive touch keys. After the crack the home buttom stopped working! I was all okay with that and the next day my notification panel started glitching and stopped showing any notifications which was really annoying. Now I knew that there some serious problem, so I taught of resetting the phone so I went in the setting and tried factory reset. After few minutes it didn't go to system recovery but the phone just restarted itself. I tried it once again and got the same problem, next step I had was to hard reset it by going into the recovery. When I hold the button and let go it didn't take me to the recovery this time also. So in conclusion I came to know that there was no recovery inside the phone (I did erase the phone through recover about 2 times before this incident everything went well during that time). Moving on I rooted the phone and installed SuperSU and other softwares that could install recovery mode to the phone. I got the same result this time also, I also tried installing a different rom through the stock system update app same result.... After a year of all this work I taught it would be best just giving it to the company service center but I came to know that the company had no longer selling this device and there is no service available .
After all of that tries above I still continued to solve this problem I tried ADB resetting it through pc no luck here also! So if you guys could recommend me some apps or softwares I could try in order to reset my phone please do let me know in the comments. Or you could also ask any scripts that you want to know from the phone which could solve the problem I can do that also!
Thank you
Darshan
