[Q] Htc 8x randomly reboot. - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

Hello all,
I have bought an htc 8x about 1 month ago.
But i have a big problem, my phone have randomly reset issue.
There is a randomly reset problem with this device that should be solved by software update. But update didn't solved my issue.
It cause when i am calling or in standby. I guessed that the cause of reset is the sim-card or network, and i ghanged my sim-card and carrier but not solved. So, i guessed that the problem is by network totally, and i removed my sim card and started device without any simcard. But reset occurs randomly.
So, i have not another idea to fix this problem. It is good to know htc have not free warranty and services in my country due to embargo(IRAN).
I'm very sad for this issue.
THINK THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURS FOR YOUR DEVICE AND LET ME KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, PLEASE.
So if it is possible, mark this threat as important admin. please....

You can try reinstalling your SIM card.

Hard reset or flash the rom

If your phone is security unlock, you can do flash the original rom.
Before flashing, you can try with hard reset.

reset
if your phone is hardware revision 0001 (you can find it by tapping settings > about > more information) then you are screwed, i am afraid, as i had the exact same issue and returned the phone 4 times , after trying every trick i could find, they eventually gave me a new phone with a hardware revision of 0002 that does not have the random reboot issue. Even though they deny there was anything wrong with the original phone and said they were replacing it as a courtesy.

Resco tools and broken IMEI

Got my brand new HTC Touch Cruise the other week and it was working great. I then decided to try and Geotag my photos which apparently is as simple as changing a registery value. So off I go and download the trial of Resco Explorer 2007 and reg editor from their website and change HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P9 »Enable« to 1
Soft reset the phone and then the phone no longer connects to the network.
(The geotagging feature of the camera worked fine too.....)
I uninstalled the tools, did a hard reset and reloaded the original ROM to no avail - the phone still refuses to connect to the network (Telstra NextG - Australia) which it was working fine with before. I have also noticed that when there is no Sim in the phone the IMEI does not agree with the one on the back and when the Sim is in it says the IMEI is "Not Support"
Any help would be appreciated, I'm missing my new toy already!
Do a Hard reset and your problems should be gone. Easiest way is "Settings > System > Clear Storage > 1234". Remember to sync your contacts before you do it and good luck
I'd already tried a hard reset and loading the latest ROM (Which was the same as the one it shipped with) but that did not work.
Just tried doing it again the way you suggested and it's still broken.
Also on further inspection my IMEI when it doesn't have a SIM in to is almost the same as the one of the back but just has an extra 01 on the end. It still says "Not support" when I have the SIM in it though....
All sorted out.... It seems it was an issue with Telstra(They said they had a brief outage, and for some reason my SIM didn't reconnect to the network until they gave it a "Kick"), not the phone that just happened at the same time as I was editing the registery. Talk about bad luck......

Yes so next time your Polaris not working so blame always your operator if the device dont connect, The imei cant NEVER chance with a registry chance what ever you do with the device the imei never changes, with that numbers you cant mess with
you said the imei changed when you have the sim card inside and evidently you couldn't connect to the network because of that... so deosn't that implys there's a 'possibility' that bypass the hardware imei by doing something to the sim? we might be on to something here guys..

Weird Network/Airplane Mode Issue

A couple of times now, when I'm out and about I lose my cellular data connection. It just stops working. In the past on other devices when this has happened a reboot will usually fix it. But on my Atrix 2, when I reboot the phone comes one with Airplane Mode enabled (please note that I did not turn on Airplane mode). If I try to turn Airplane Mode off, it will just sit and say "Enabling wireless connections" but never actually turn them on. I have to actually do a battery pull to fix this problem. The first time it happened I went and got a new SIM card (as mine was pretty old), and it just happened to me again this afternoon. I'm past my 30 day return policy (bought the phone at Best Buy) so I can't return it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Just to reiterate, I did not turn on Airplane Mode, the phone powers on with it enabled and then won't actually turn off Airplane Mode when I tell it to.
i have the same problem too. After it happens couple times, i find out it might be the problem from the at&t address book issue which cause the phone cant read the sim for some reason (as it result, airplane mode keep enable). I also believe it is because the phone has been unlocked so the at&t address book crash. Is your phone unlocked?
Well, i am not quite sure it work on ur phone, but here is how i do it usually.
Way 1- plugin another sim card(sometimes i dun even need to do it), load the at&t address book, it will force the phone to load sim card cause of the contact from sim (then it should work right after that or after reboot)
Way 2- pull the battery for 1 day, it will work after that(but this is kinda dumb)
Hope this can help you XD.

My phone is not unlocked. I could see the AT&T Address book thing contributing, I've NEVER had that thing work right, and thus I don't even have it set up on my phone (it's on there in my Accounts, but it's not configured that I know of because i do my contact syncing through Google).
Battery pull definitely solves the problem, at least temporarily. The only other SIM I have is the old one they took out when they replaced the SIM after this happened the first time. I also don't store any contacts on my sim (again use google for that), so I don't know if doing a SIM swap would solve the problem in a more permanent way since I've basically already done that.
I tried battery pull, but it doesn't work sometimes. The reason i run at&t address book because it would force the phone to detect the sim again(cause of the contact). Lucky it doesn't always happen. hoping Motorola can fix this issue on next update.
**I just think about it, it might be some stupid mistake from motorola that overwrite the memory about the phone status section.
have you guys tried factory resetting it?
I tried to reset but it doesn't help at all
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
how about freezing or removing the apps from att?

Hmm, I did this just yesterday, I'll give it a week or so and see if the issue happens again after setting my contact storage to my Google account.

ok just inform us what happens.
I have and identical problem.
My phone would turn with the Airplane mode ON and I can't deactivate it, or even if it shows I can, it's not in the menu and I won't get any signal.
I can't recall If it happened because of a change but I doubt so.
I tried factory reset / cache / dalvik, also flashing numerous rom from neutrino to cm7 to cm9 and even MIUI (which worked the first time I flashed it for a day and then same error).
And It will also occasionnaly reboot If I try too hard checking for networks and such.
Any help ?

[Q] Nexus 5 not reading ANY Sim cards.

Hey folks, i tried searching here for my issue. I found many similar threads, but nothing that solves my issue.
Two days ago i started having issues sending picture messages, today i start losing network signal until it cut out alltogether.
I tried multiple sims from different carriers and got nothing. Ive tried the following:
Factory reset.
Rebooting and reinserting sim
Resetting apn settings, custom apn settings.
I have WiFi, and the symbol says "no service" nothing about emergency calls only.
The new information i have, which i didnt find on other threads here is this; i found a sim card app and tried it, its able to pull my sim card information off the card, (phone number etc.) yet i get no cell service. Any ideas?
Nexus 5
Stock lollipop
Hey @kimsgrim
Hmm so u already did a factory reset? And didn't restore anything before test?
Really stock or u changed anything (Rom or Kernel)?
But ur phone doesn't say "No Simcard found, please insert and reboot" or kind of that?
If no the simcard is fine and the phone also seeing it. The sims u tested where card which definitly work on other phones?
So two things possible in my opinion:
1) System problem: Anything is reset or not working, which should be done with a factory reset or maybe flashing another stock firmware over
2) Hardware defect of antenna. Would be sad, but no other point for be atm.
Much success
CHEERS
Sounds like the sim card reader is messed

Pixel 4a No SIM card detected

So, every since I have updated my pixel 4a to the August security patch, it starts giving me an issue with my SIM, it seems to not detect my SIM at random points of the day and I sometimes have to restart it multiple times to get it to detect again. After it gets detected, it will work fine for about 12 - 15 hours before the issue comes back again. When the issue occurs, my mobile network option in the settings will get greyed out. (see attachment below)
Went to my carrier and get a new SIM. Still, the issue persists. Even tried an E-SIM and it still doesn't work
I have contacted Google support and they told me to send my device down for repair and inspection however, even after repairing my device, the issue still persists. Factory reset does not fix it as well. Dig thru Reddit and Google forum as well, tons of others are facing the same exact issue after the August update leading me to deduce that this is not a hardware but a software issue with the update.
I saw that there was the September security update patch yesterday and I went to update it, however, the issue is still there
I then proceeded to contact Google support again and they kept telling me to send it for repair even though I already have?
Does anyone have a clue what to do?

If others are experiencing the same issue after the update, then that highly suggests the problem was caused by the update.
So, unfortunately, ONLY google can fix it with another patch and you will have to wait until google gets around to fixing it.
I have similar problem though I thought it's caused by android 12 beta so I outped out it and everything was fine for few days. I restated my phone after day or two and the problem of no serivce came back. This time even factory reset didn't help.
I can't manually change preffered network type to 2g/3g and everytime I try to make a phonecall it says i need to turn off aeroplane mode off.

Wow, unfortunate for sure. Isn't it possible to roll back to just before the update? Of course google makes the entire firmware available and I believe I've read if you remove the '-w' at the end of the script it doesn't wipe data?
At least if this was possible it would certainly indicate if it was the update or not?
cheers
So my Pixel 4a updated to the October Security Patch this night, and from there on it says "SIM not detected".
But when I go in settings it shows the network name.
I tried switching the SIMs with my Pixel 2 and everything works there, but any SIM I put in my 4a shows "SIM not detected" even though it can detect the network.
Which it probably wouldn't do if the SIM slot were defective, right?
And the timing with the update is too much of a coincidence...
I have similar issue - Pixel 3A, after update with November Security Patch, "No simcard" error appears with mandatory reboot. Tried with different SIM, there was prompt for PIN, verified and then it seems no access to simcard data. Even "emergency call" is no allowed from now. Looks like additional privilidges needed for access SIM card. No clue, how to proceed...

[FIX] PSA: SIM CARD/Data & WIFI not working, because of which phone reboots or enters crash dump mode

PSA:
THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE ISSUE.
So no need to wipe/ reset your phone or msm flash. NO NEED.
It is related to hardware.
There is a really easy fix for this and it might seem stupid but its worked for me a lot of other people according to my research.
So when you come across this, all you need to do is press your phone on the back side in various places (i dont know where exactly) and then sim card and wifi both should start working.
I dont know why or how this happens, but it just works. it worked for me, after 2 days of trying to resolve this issue with various software solutions, went as far are copying the persist partition from another oneplus 6 and flashing it on mine.
so yes this works
