So I tried installing the Commotio ROM on my TF700t since I have been reading good things about it. I'm running F2FS from a previous install of another ROM (I have done a full wipe of EVERYTHING before installing Commotion). Sadly I ran into an issue that I cannot solve...
Upon completion of the installation, (both GAPPs and the ROM are installed without any other errors but a mount error for /staging, which I understood is nothing critical from reading the F2FS for TF700T thread), I proceed to reboot my tablet as usual and I reach a "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen. It's a touch-screen option, with only a BACK button and a "RESET TABLET" button. The screen says my data is unavailable until I perform a factory reset. Neither the RESET TABLET button, nor a Factory Reset from TWRP F2FS recovery work. I have tried some thing from various android forums with no success... Is there anything I can do to restore functionality to my tablet? I would like to keep F2FS, with reverting back to EXT4 being my last resort.
I don't have any development experience so I would prefer if the instructions do not require that I compile things.
I have all the time in the world to fix this issue, as use of my tablet is not absolutely essential at the moment. I'm looking forward to a reply from you guys!
Stay awesome and thanks in advance!
EDIT: I have fixed the issue by flashing a F2FS kernel. From what I understood the ROM comes bundled with a kernel but I guess it's not F2FS compatible maybe? Anyways, ROM is by far the fastest and most responsive I have used on my tablet. Could not get ROM2SD to work sadly.
Also, the reason I am posting here is because I do not have enough forum posts to write in the ROMs development thread.
Huge thanks to Dev for the superb ROM. Kudos!

Minor glitch in TWRP2810 for TF300
Just now installed Scanno's TWRP-TF300T-2_8_1_0.zip. It seems to work fine, but it failed the zip file signature verification. I flashed it with Scanno's 2800 version. The md5sum was fine, so I just turned off sig verification and went for it. Problem with the signature? Problem with TWRP 2800? Just thought someone might want to know. I wish all my problems were that easy!

Problem
Hi guys, that's my first post on this forum.
I got a CWM on my tablet yet. If i want to update it with a new version, how can i do?
Sorry for my bad english.
Boot loop into recovery mode
Hello
I have TF300T with JellyBean and last night I decide to migrate to CM 12 or to try to migrate....
Before reading this post, I unlock my tablet and install a recovery-jb.img : CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.3. -> installation OK
I reboot in recovery before booting on Android and it's seems to be my error because now I have use "adb reboot-bootlader" and choose Android to boot on the original JellyBean.
It's only today I see your post with this sentence : "Make sure reboot into android after flashing bdefore going back to recovery"...
So what can I do to solve this mistake ?
I have also other error messages like this :
"E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command"
".... /recovery/log"
"E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log"
"E:Can't mount/cache/recovery/fast_log"
"E:Can't open /cache/recovery/fast_log"
Thank you per advance for your help.

You used OFFICIAL TWRP WITH hboot 2.16!! I would strongly advise you to switch to a TWRP thats built for 2.16 (like the one in the op), if not you could potentially HARD BRICK your phone

This is wrong. Official TWRP hast support for 2.16 since 2.8.3.0.
Edit: The original thread has unfortunately got a post count restriction which prevents me from posting there.

it works as normal on 2.16, yes, but doing things like formatting /system will hard brick your phone which is too big a risk to take
Why do you think that? The risk should not be bigger than in 2.8.1.1.
This post in the main thread further elaborates that the newer TWRP versions work on both hboots. @dd98
Although there is a script which selects the right fstab.

@Hauk92 Thanks for the PM
Yeah, I'm blind, the script is there. I was looking for the updated script by mdmower which just symlinks the right fstab from the init.recovery.qcom.rc, but the official TWRP uses his older solution with calling a shell script.
Have you tried and verified that it works?
I tried 2.8.4 which works flawless for me, including formatting system and flashing roms etc.
There might be some errors in the log which are related to mtp and the twrp version (they show up on other devices, too), but they can safely be ignored.
CM encrypted /data support
Hi,
It's great to see the unified hboot support making it into the official release. Although I'm running on 2.15 at present, I'm thinking of switching to 2.16.
However, one thing still seems to be lacking from the official release that is working on mdmower's build -- support for encrypted CM devices with the new partition layout.
I'm running CM12 (upgraded from CM11, on which the original encryption of /data was done). Using mdmower's 2.8.1.1 (and previous versions), I am able to successfully decrypt /data within TWRP in order to perform backups etc.
However, if I try the official 2.8.5.0 build, I get an error that /data can't be mounted and no crypto footer can be found. My understanding though is that CM no longer uses a crypto footer but uses the "extra" partition instead. Is there a patch to support this which could be pushed upstream, or is this something which is supposed work, and there's something odd about my system?
Thanks,
Z
Fixed in 2.8.5.5
In answer to my own post, for anyone else who stumbles upon it, this was fixed by mdmower in his unofficial 2.8.5.5 build (his 2.8.5.4 had the same issue).
With any luck, this will also be fixed in the next official release.

Q&A for [GUIDE] Back to Stock ROM (the sure method)

Hi
Yes, and for me to give '.
Hi ferhub
I've exactly the same situation, I've also softbricked my Honor 6 L12. Nothing really works.
I've tried to unbrick with multitool, but the phone keeps on rebooting.
From what I can see, is that recovery images are working as long as they are EMUI 3.1 compatible, but the one's included in the current official stock roms are not.
So I can fastboot and go into recovery with EMUI 3.1 recovery image or the latest TWRP 2.8.7.
I tried to find the full rom (not the update.zip) of 5.1.1 with emui 3.1 but I was unsuccesful. I think this could solve our problem.
Pfff, I've bricked my phone on friday night and have been researching everything the whole weekend. Next time I won't be so ignorant for the clear message that you brick your phone with multitool when you are on 3.1
Any help appreciated!
Can I get back to the stock ROM with my backup via cwm?
I have a TF300T with the latest firmware installed - JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.27.5-20130902. I suffer from the extreme slowdown that I have researched endlessly. I found answers that have said to root and install a custom ROM. I have already unlocked the device using Asus V8 Unlock tool. I get the "Device is unlocked" at boot.
My questions are:
What is the best custom recovery for this tablet?
What rom should I use / do people like the most?
I have found the KatKiss ROM Nougat 7.1. I have also found this ROM located here http://www.teamandroid.com/2015/05/12/install-android-511-cm121-asus-transformer-pad-tf300t-nightly-lollipop-rom/ which from my understanding will give OTA updates.
The process seems complex. I am not a layman, but some of the steps I have found for the process are confusing; like fastboot and adp (or something). I am still looking through forum posts to help me understand the processes involved. The biggest problem I have is finding a custom recovery and custom ROM.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to give. (I'm still searching on my own as well lol.)
Ok, I got twrp installed, so that question is answered. Now I guess the only thing else about my questions is what ROM should I use? I wish to increase the performance of the device without loosing any functionality. I see the KatKiss ROM I posted doesn't allow recording of video.

In order to avoid any issues you must be sure to have the genuine Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 installed from here. There is also md5 available. (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347781183)
Regarding your second question you are right KatKiss - Nougatella #014 is still in development. Bluetoth and video recording are missing right now. But it's only a question of time.
In my opinion KatKiss - KatshMallow #029 is the mostly perfected rom. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3237867).
So I would recommend to you to take this one firstly. Please pay attention carefully on the install instruction in post #1. The first install should be a clean one!
Good luck!
