New OTA Update... Is this Lollipop? - T-Mobile LG G2

After lunch, I was greeted with the following message on my G2.
I'm not in a position to where I can run this now. Has anyone else gotten this? Is it Lollipop?

Nope. Its D80120e-D80120g_update.

Is there any good updates, or is it just optimizing for T-mobile?

I semi bricked my d 801 had to flash the 20e kdz saw an update available and thought the same thing, is this lollipop? Took the ota realized it wasnt, try to reroot using towel root and install recovery with autorec and it was a no go had to use lg flash tool again to go back 20e just to root
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk

Now I cannot get my phone to update to 20g it said 20e is up to date. Why?

So if you're STOCK but rooted with custom recovery and you take this update is it going to soft brick the device or will it just unroot you and be okay?

It will soft brick if you do OTA via phone with 3rd party recovery, it will unroot you if you do it via the pc lg suite
Software, from my past experiences.
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium HD app

If you bricked your phone trying to apply this, the fix is simple if you have TWRP or some recovery that gives you adb shell access.
Just run the following. It will clear out the OTA.
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc

Please help
Hey, im definetly new to this but a couple months ago my friend convinced me to root my phone. I used towelroot and I got rooted.
I also got this update and I thought it would be fine to get it. It messed my root up. I factory reset my phone because I couldnt connect to a seperate gmail and play store
I really need help but I really dont know anything about TWRP and recovery stuff , all I had was towelroot, root checker, super su, and freedom. My friend obviously didnt tell me to get anything else.
I cant connect my gmail on startup or anything else, I tried to change a etc/hosts file but I need root which I dont have. If anyone can help please do. I dont have data and my phone is locked other than I can get on wifi and I WAS able to download apps from play store... :crying::crying::crying::crying:

I don't have a link but you can Google stump root, it worked for me to re-root.

Here's the info about the update

[Q] SuperSU Permanent Unroot

Hay guys I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (GT-I8910N) an I've rooted it, but now I see there is new update coming out an I want to unroot my phone to update it. And I'm interested if any of you guys tried to unroot your phone using SuperSU's permanent unroot, I saw that option, but it just sounds to easy. So if I use that option will I be able to download new update and use NFC again? And will I be able to root my phone again?

the only way to truly unroot your device is to flash the stock firmware back onto it.
the unroot option in superuser or whatever does not remove all traces of root on any phone, even though it may technically be no longer rooted.

Hi,
my phone has been having issues since rooting. if i unroot then downgrade, can i root again? supersu says unroot is permanent- not sure what it means
Unroot on supersu not working on oneplus 2...
stuck in 'please wait...'
i get "uninstalling, please wait..." , and it never completes.
this happens when i try to use: "full unroot, cleanup for permanent unroot" (in settings).
the full unroot is simply not working/stuck, acting like it is uninstalling. i tried a bunch of reboots, and root checker confirms i'm still rooted.
i have already bricked my phone once, previously, trying to unroot (because this feature did not work on my device: oneplus 2, and i got over-zealous trying to unroot).
help! i don't want to brick again trying to unroot.
would like to get updates when 1+ make them available.
no help googling this problem.

possible fix...
unticked unknown sources for apps under security, and supersu let me "unroot." i made a number of attempts to unroot and got no results til i did this. when 1+2 gets an update, i will know. root checker says, "Sorry! root access not properly installed...," now.

[Q] Root D85010f

Hey guys,
So I just got the G3 last week, and an update rolled out from AT&T. Me being the idiot I am thought it was the Lollipop update so I updated it. Turns out, it was just 10f.
Then when I looked for ways to root the G3, all the methods required the software to be on 10d, not f.
What should I do?
Any help is much appreciated.
Use the bruteforce method in Stump root.

100%. I rooted on 10f using stump.
In addition, if you plan on rooting a device and you know there is an update, please wait to install the update until you know a root method is found.

I too am trying to root d850 10f with bruteforce on stumproot...mine will not do it though, keeps saying device is not supported after about 7 minutes of trying. Any ideas? (Yes, i know, shouldnt have installed the darn update), but i keep seeing people rooting 10f no problem with stump, although mine wont.

This is what I would do. It is possible you got a bad OTA as well. Did you factory reset after the OTA? I have seen many cases on forums where a factory reset takes care of many issues after an OTA.

I don't know man, do you have the correct app installed? Mine went through smoothly in less than 5 minutes.
I just did this - now i am trying to bump the device. So my memory is relatively fresh
Reboot for fresh start - Run Stump - it will say device not supported - try brute force - let it run - takes 5 - 7 and maybe 10 min after which it says "reboot" device - then go ahead and reboot device. Run stump again - it should say device is rooted. Next download "root checker" it will say rooted. Ofcourse if this all does not go thru - you can downgrade to a previous firmware and it'll go easier - however that's more labor intensive and you'll not be able to back up the current ROM with all your apps and setup.
Well, I ended up having to flash back to 10d as mentioned by many of you. This fixed the problem!

Good to hear and I do not think you are missing much going back. At least I have found no difference. Just freeze "Software Update" to prevent nagging OTA update notifications.

I actually installed CM12...its friggin awesome.
I can report no issues here with Stumproot on 10f and I've restored back to stock multiple times.
Sounds like something was just messed up on my phone, everyone else was able to use it!
perhaps this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-stock-rooted-att-odexed-d85010f-t2945873
works nicely, no muss, no fuss
If i revert to 10D do i have to use the BUMP method after root? Or just get TWRP/CWM Recovery like good ole days? I just don't care to have the BUMP bypass that is why I am asking.
I have the ATT G3 10F.

[Q] OTA Update Fails

Today i get an update OTA

is there any way to update?
i searched the problem in google, but google doesnt found anything and in the G3 forum stands, that root is no problem with stock recovery and ich have stock recovery

Which one did you get? LG PC Suite 4.3.41? Where from? I can't find it on the LG site for our phones.
count me in the same boat :/
have the sprint version of the phone and woke up this morning to a prompt that there was an android update. with my brain not being awake yet i went ahead and told it to update, not thinking about root preventing the update. So went about my morning routine and came back and the phone was booted back up, but obviously the update didn't apply as i was still on ZV4, not ZV5. when checking for update it says there are no updates available.
can anyone help me/us out and post some steps for how to unroot and reapply the update? i'm good at following directions, just too new to this stuff to be able to figure it out on my own

anyone have any tips on forcing the OTA to download again?i've disabled SU, rebooted, and factory reset and it still says i'm up to date when checking for an update. or is there a way to download the OTA and update the phone some other way?

I tested all the files and I have no message and signal works perfectly.
woke up this morning to the prompt that there was an update available again, not sure why it does it overnight but won't when i manually check for update..... anyway, i disabled SU, rebooted, then started the update and watched it this time and in the middle of the upgrade it came up with the android guy on his back and it said error. after a bit it restarted again and was back to where i started, no update.
so it looks like i need to unroot. would appreciate any help on how to unroot so i can apply the OTA, thanks!!!!!
Here with a sprint flex 2. First time I tried ota update I was rooted and it failed. A few days later the update notification showed up again, went ahead and unrooted, tried the update and still failed. I'm not sure root has anything to do with update failing now. Could be something else. So far I haven't read about anyone successfully completing update and reporting it.
I was getting the same error message about being rooted even after un rooting the device.
I installed the lg pc suite and upgraded to 10d that way and then re rooted using the method on this forum.
It looks like there may be a flag thats triggered once u root that doesnt get removed even if u unroot it.
ugh! i can't even get my phone to connect to pc suite to try and "fix" it so i can attempt the update

am trying this method but when put in the last code its taken a while to do anything,so am wondering is it normal for it to take that long or am i doing something wrong?
When using one click ver 1.3 when it reaches 90% in download mode, wait a couple of mins then pull the usb cable out of phone while in download mode. You should reboot into Android upgrading SU !
Which rooting apps are u using?,is it for d800 variant?
yeah the OneClickRoot works. I was on KK 4.4.2, CloudyFlex 2.8 and decided to update to 5.0.2 just for the bootloader, modem and other stuff. So, I started backing up my "SD Card" to my laptop, using the TOT file method to flash via LG Flashtool to 20c, then rooting with TowelRoot, updating to 20y and finally, upgrading to 30f. But, just for testing, I factory reset my unit.
Then the quest to find a suitable root method began, tried towel, io and stomp but didn't work for me. Then I found this "OneClickRoot" that looked good. I d/l'ed v1.3 but it took forever in Download mode. Then, i decide to try v1.2 (Console version) and it worked PERFECTLY, highly recommended.
I just got this device (D800) with the intention of rooting and installing CM12. It came with the latest version of KK which I knew I had to downgrade to a version of JB with an unlocked boatloader. But my phone upgraded to Lollipop on its own before I had the chance to do anything. I assume the boatloader is still locked with the latest Lollipop firmware. It's nice there is a way to root Lollipop but will I be able to run CM12 and custom kernels somehow?
this is awesome, THANKS!
No go for me..

I'm guessing that you re referring rooting, right? In the console version, it says that you have to unplug the phone, turn it off and plug it again pressing Vol+ (Vol Up) to enter download mode.
After that, it will continue and eventually you'll get to something that says Special Command ENTER something,, then you have to press Ctrl-C to finish.
Hope this helps

Thanks for posting this guapinoy. I recently got a new AT&T G2 that I OTA updated to Lollipop (using an AT&T sim). I followed the picture tutorial linked to that youtube video (http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/) and was able to root successfully. Installed TWRP afterwards using the autorec app.
I'm having problems with that recovery that this thing installed, it doesn't work for flashing, just for backups... Tried to install other recovery (philz and the official twrp) or rom (liquidsmooth) and i always get the message "error executing updater binary in zip "zip name" "....
Also installed the kitkat baseband, but the error was still there...
I got a boot loop now, at first the ROM worked without recovery, now the recovery works but the ROM won't boot. I can't flash anything due to the same erro .
Help!!!
Hi.. Everyone I'm new to the thread I flashed Blisspop 3.2 to my lg g2 and everytime I bootbit up I keep experience gapps error such as unfortunately google play services has stopped and I can't access anything without that error popping up my LG g2 is the AT&T model (D800) can someone please give me a copy of autorec d800 for lollipop so I can use to try flash twrp on the phone or will the old kit kat autorec work Please I'm in serious need

Marshmallow!

With the update coming sometime in the near future, what does that mean for us with rooted phones? More specifically, us losers who are on the Puerto Rican rom.
I imagine if we update we lose root, but is there any way we can get back on the American AT&T H810 after the update comes out?
I just got the phone from Craig's list. When I got home and I did more research I realized I got screwed. They sold me the PR version of the phone. At least I got it for 280 unlocked and no scratches almost new.

Yikes sorry! Do you have the green spot issue in the camera? It's a decent rom save for that issue. Allows you to get rid of everything (bloatware). I've been dying to add xposed, but without being able to back anything up makes it a little iffy. AT&T seems to be the worst when it comes to allowing their devices to be unlocked.

If LG releases a KDZ for ATT you can. However, even those of us who are on att firmware can't take OTA updates after rooting (even if flashing an unrooted system img). LGs root checker tool flags the system on the /persist partition
This means that you will have to UN-Root your phone. Download & install the update. Put your phone into download mode. DD if=OS of=Backup.img
Then root that backup (Or get it from someone who posted it on an XDA Root site)
Once it is rooted, then DD if=RootedOS of=OS (Disk dump it back to the phone)
Now you have a rooted Marshmellow OS on your phone.

Please also know, once you root, you will NOT be able to take any future OTA Updates. Even if you flash back your unrooted System.img.
LG's Root Checker Tool prevents this. You can read more about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...lysis-t3229175

Please also know, once you root, you will NOT be able to take any future OTA Updates. Even if you flash back your unrooted System.img.
LG's Root Checker Tool prevents this. You can read more about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...lysis-t3229175

I did the H81010g root a while back. Is there a way for me to get on the O update, preferably rooted?

this is false. i was rooted on 10g, i unrooted and flashed stock system.img and took the update to 10o just fine.
you need to do a few things to prepare first
1) unfreeze any apps you may have frozen with debloater/titanium/greenify/etc
2) disable and uninstall any xposed modules
3) uninstall xposed (if you have it)
4) uninstall flashfire (if you have it)
5) uninstall any root apps (aside from supersu)
6) open supersu, uncheck "enable superuser" and then select full unroot, than reboot
7) download and flash the stock system.img for whatever firmware you are currently rooted on
8) now your unrooted and you may update via ota
this thread will help for flashing, just make sure you use the stock version of your current firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
you can find lots of system.img files and more tips here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/att-h810-update-8-31-v10i-t3190714
this post is also useful for unrooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62640811&postcount=27

easily done, check my post above. after you take the ota to 10o you will just need to root that basically the same way you did with 10g

I completed those steps, however right at 4% still getting error 0x1123004.
I re-rooted just to make sure everything was unfrozen etc, uninstalled everything, then flashed unrooted image back, still giving the error.
Guess i'll have to wait for another method.
