I created a ringtone using Ringdroid back when I first got the Nexus 5. Ever since then, I have been using that ringtone.
That is, until I upgraded to Lolipop. Now, even though I can select that ringtone and hear it when I select it as my default., it will not play when I get a call. If I choose one of the stock ringtones, it works just fine, but my custom created one will not play. Any thoughts?
Not sure what I did differently this time, but I finally got it to work.

I'm having issues getting some of my notification sounds to play.
I haven't had time to look, but I suspect it may have something to do with the audio file's encoding. Compare your file to one in the media folder that works.
Audacity may be able to do this.

I think you may be right. It looks like the specific "ringtone" encoding may not work with Lolipop, where MP3s do.
Had the similar problem with the pop.m4a notification from the facebook app which worked until 5.0 where it became silent. Tried downloading the mp3 version of the same file from the audio archive site and that didn't help at all (mp3 file still wouldn't play).
What I did in the end is download Zedge, searched for the facebook pop, found the sound which worked and just set that as a notification sound (well, I've downloaded it and placed it in the /sdcard/Notifications for the future use, but you can set it as a default notification right from the Zedge app).

The official Twitter app used to come with a custom notification sound file called Tweeters. Though on my recent installs of the Twitter app the sound file is not present in my memory card or in the app. I believe Twitter may have taken out the sound. Does anyone have this notification file still, if so I'd love to have it. It was very useful.

could you please post a mp3 version of this?
Hi, im not new in the forum, but its the first time that i make a thread.
I have discover an alternative form to pass throw the at&t's ringtone limitation. Its quite simple.
First, you download from de market "ringdroid", this app is ussefull for editing ringtones.
Later, you open the app, and browse a song that you want to put as a ringtone. U will notice that u can cut a part that you want to use it as a ringtone, insted of that, you select all the song with the ringsdroid's tool. And it give you the option to use it as a ringtone. you select the option that u want. and thats it, you have pass de protection.
I hope that this was ussefull.
bye
cool i will try right now. thanks if it works
Hi, I just got a Sensation a couple of days ago and there have been a few problems I hope you guys could help me with.
Firstly, my Android Market only shows a few of the apps that there should be. Loads of apps such as the launchers or Angry Birds for example aren't showing up. When I open the Market from my desktop it says that these apps cannot be installed in my country (UAE) when i have friends here with other Android phones with the very same apps.
Secondly, whenever I play a video on the phone it plays fine for about a minute and then the audio switches off and it only comes back if I skip scenes. I don't if this is a fault with my phone or maybe a wrong format I'm using, can you guys recommend a converter?
Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated.

I do not know the answer to your first question, but I would assume that your friends either have a different ROM flashed to their phone that allows them to bypass country restrictions, or they have downloaded the APK's from somewhere else, then 'adb push'ed them to their device... Someone more knowledgeable than me can answer that one...
The second question regarding video converters... I have used an application called Handbrake in the past to re-encode my video files, and it has worked wonders. I highly recommend it. Link: http://handbrake.fr/
Hope this helps.

You can try to find the apk for the apps you want and install them outside of Market by copying the apk to your SD card then installing from there (be sure to check the allow non-market applications box under the applications settings) this should (I think) bypass any country restrictions. If you look around I'm sure you can find the apks you want. If not you could probably make a request for certain apps and someone can upload the apk for you.
Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes.
Where do I paste the App file in the SD card?
Anywhere . You can, for example create new folder - "Apps" on yours sd and paste applications there.

Ahh, sorry should've been more specific. After copying the file over, where do I go in the phone to install it?
Nevermind, got it.
You can use the web-market to install apps. No idea why it doesn't appear on the phone's market app, but it should appear on the web market.

For the second problem: what video format are you using? Try *.mp4 or *.avi and see if they work Also, what resolution is the video?

You can try another video player such as MoboPlayer to see if you have converted your video ok.

I also use HandBrake converter.
There is an app called android market enabler "lets you access paid apps from countries where paid apps are not yet available". But it requires you to root your phone which is not currently possible on our phone. This could be what your friends are using.

I just copied some random avi files I had on my desktop, which gave me the problem above. Haven't tried using converter yet but I'll give it a shot now.

Thanks guys, I tried the qqplayer and its playing perfectly. Though one more thing, how do you set custom (from the SD card) notifications for things like messages or emails? Atm I can only find it for ringtones. Oh and how do I switch off the annoying sound upon unlocking?
Sorry for the trouble, first time user and all. =/
lolwut16,
I am from UAE too and have the same problems with paid apps from Android Market.
I am just waiting a software solution to turn my Sensation S-off and install a "market enabler".
You are not alone........

make a folder on the root of your storage card & name it notifications & put the sounds in there.
for the weather sound you can disable that in the weather app or somewhere like that
Quickly: I have a new phone and I cannot, for the life of me, find the notification audio files for Facebook Messenger. Can anyone point me to them?
Details: I'm rooted, technically proficient. I've been all over the file system and I can't find these files.
The story: On my last phone I found the files, and replaced a couple of their awful ringtones with my own awesome ones, and the world was a glorious place filled with flowers and rainbows. On the new phone I cannot find these files, and I'm out of ideas.
Suggestions are welcomed, except "Download Zedge".
They are not stored on Your device. They remain on Facebook's Domain.
Try playing them offline some time. They won't play.

Haha, I wondered about our respective sanity after your first response.
I know those files existed in earlier versions, and I suspect they still do because my old phone was fully up to date, and still had my custom ringtones. It's driving me mad that I can't find them.
Please do let me know if you find them. Thanks for looking!
I've been digging, and it seems like these files are stored in the .APK until they're needed, in /res/raw. I replaced one of the .m4a files in the APK, and it seems to confirm this hypothesis, however rather than playing the new sound when selected in Messenger, it is simply silent.
And then, upon a reboot, it seems Messenger is not installed. I'm not sure what this means - do I need to re-sign the APK after changing the .m4a file? (I'm repeating phrases off the web now! Getting out of my depth, yay!)
The efforts continue. Advice still accepted. =)
Update: replaced one .m4a file, re-signed the APK using Easy APK Disassembler and installed it on my phone. It all worked, the app works, but selecting the changed sound plays only silence, not the sound I added. Sooo... Still sort of nowhere, I guess.
I recently installed the latest version of WearOS onto my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm, I discovered that now I can't install the custom notification sounds and ringtones onto it. Does anybody know how I can resolve this issue?

Did this method survive an update?
Edit: just saw above it doesn't even survive reboot so an upgrade even less likely.
Who has already tried it, does it work?
Good afternoon,
Problem when adding ringtone to OPPO Watch. If you add them to the /sdcard/Ringtones/ category and after restarting the watch, they are displayed in the "Settings-Sound-Ringtone of the watch". The ringtone can be listened to and selected as a ringtone. However, during a test call to the clock, instead of the ringtone, a system sound similar to the sound of an error plays. And if you make a test call through "Find a device", then the ringtone works.
I tried to add a ringtone via ADB to the root of the system, where the standard ringtones are located. But, when copying, it gives an error. Through the file manager, when copying, the ringtone is not saved. Perhaps this is due to the restriction of rights. You need root rights.
Please tell me someone was able to deal with this problem?
Thank you!
After Samsung Watch 4 classic & Watch 4 Pro got the latest firmware update .Samsung locked many things.Like earlier one can add custom ringtones & notifications. But now one cannot at all.No matter what you do you can't set or add a custom ringtone or notifications. (BUT)
