[Q] [Missing Storage] Updated Nexus5 to Lollipop, 32GB Nexus 5 now only shows 12.55GB - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I use the lollipop factory image to flash my nexus 5 to lollipop, coming from Slimkat 4.4.4. Now, my 32GB Nexus 5 only shows 12.55GB Storage. What happened? How do I fix this?

Flash stock recovery, wipe all data / factory reset. Just happened to me too.

there have been quite a lot of threads facing the same issue. to resolve it do factory data reset (which wipes everything on the phone storage)

My nexus 5 16gb shows 12.55gb. Is it normal or I need a factory reset?

[Q] No network signal, cache seems to have failed

I jumped the gun and tried flashing the 4.4.1 .zip for the N5 found here: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/12/05/download-android-4-4-1-update-for-the-nexus-5/
It flashed fine, so I then proceeded to wipe the cache/dalvik. This is where I ran into a problem. It sat there, stuck in the process of clearing the cache. After 5 minutes, I turned off the phone out of frustration. The phone booted up and began the "apps optimization" bit that you get after updating. Then I went to sleep. When I awoke, I noticed my phone wasn't receiving a cell signal and I thought, no biggie, cell service isn't very good in my house anyway. When I got to work later, I realized this was a problem. I can't receive a cell signal. My next thought was to flash the new radio to see if that fixed the problem. Well, I can't download anything onto my phone, nor can I transfer from my computer. It says that my storage is full, yet I can go to storage and see that I have over 5 GB of free space. Astro does not recognize that I even have internal storage.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I was just about to perform a factory reset but thought I should check here first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ppl are getting lower signal, but is the signal dropping? Emergency calls only?

Just had the same problem. In TWRP I went into the advanced wipe option, wiped only the cache. Then I flashed the radio. It is working again.

The problem was worse than that. There wasn't any signal at all. Not even possible to place emergency calls.
Anyways, I flashed the factory images which fixed the problem. I then proceeded to flash 4.4.1 and so far so good.

[Q] Problem with 32 gig only saying it has 16 gigs of memory after factory restore

I was having some major issues with my nexus 5 today, so I decided to flash completely back to stock using the google factory images in fastboot. After I restarted my phone, I noticed that my phone is only displaying 16 gigs of memory available when my model is the 32 gig model. Is there any way to restore the phone back to being a 32 gig? Or a way to reformat it? Thanks!
You're going to have to go into the stock recovery and clear cache and do a factory reset

Wiping cache should fix it. Factory reset wipes cache anyhow.

Try following this guide posted in the Nexus 4 forums, posted by @El Daddy with helpful shortcut provided by @dellenrules in this post. Basically clear cache/factory reset using the stock recovery image, not a custom one. Of course, use the recovery image for the Nexus 5 instead of the Nexus 4.
Okay, I will try it and let you all know what happens! Thanks for the help! Luckily I flashed everything back to stock including recovery, so no extra steps hopefully!
Edit:
This fixed it! Thank you everyone!

I don't know why it does it but I think a factory reset fixes it. There are quite a few threads about it.

ok, it seem like i have to do a factory reset. i think i will wait til i get my new nexus 6p.
btw, since i hae backup app on titanium backup and store inside the phone. Does anyone know factory reset will wipe the phone data?
because my nexus 5 showing 14gb instead of 32gb. I heard a factory reset will help the problem. I just dont know which factory reset (recovery or in setting) to do.
but if i use twrp wiping cache, data and dalvik (leaving system and internal storage alone).... will it wipe my lollipop os too? will it wipe my storage too?
what is the different between the factory reset under setting and the factory reset under twrp?
sorry for so many questions....

recover internal memory data after factory reset

Hello
I did a factory reset on my Nexus in order to downgrade because of the latest update bug.
unfortunately, I didn't backup the data.
i stumbeld across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
and i need your help in "translating" it to use on nexus 5 or to find a similar solution.
thanks!

My Moto G is unusable after update to 6.0.1

Hey,
Before update everything works smoothly. Now after update menu is freezing, applications freezing, Pokemon Go now is unplayable.
In game am getting "GPS Signal not found" all the time. GPS jumping all around. Hate this update...
I did factory reset, format and wipe data, wipe cache... Everything.
Always few hours after wipe everything starts freezing again. On Lolipop GPS worked perfectly...
Have you got some idea how to fix it ? Should i send for warranty?
If you are *not *using your sdcard as internal (adopted) storage, try removing it and check. Is your internal memory close to full? That can be the cause to lag too. Else, check if your RAM or CPU is being full using CPU-Z like app.
If all these don't work, maybe factory reset again with internal storage wipe and then installing apps one by one to see which one could be causing this.

I dont have SD card. Im Using only internal memory.
Try clearing the cache partition (warning, it can take WAY longer than you expect, be patient and let it finish), but if that doesn't work a factory reset is probably in order.
@acejavelin I really appreciate your help, but i did everything you said. It didnt help.
Then you can try a firmware flash but there is a risk in the procedure.

Since your bootloader is locked, you must use the same or newer firmware version, as long as you don't unlock your bootloader you will not lose warranty.
TBH, if you did a full factory reset (erased all your data, had to setup like new device) and you still have issues, you may want to just contact Moto and send it in for repair.

Follow Lost101's fastboot factory firmware flashing guide. It's in the general section.
