[Q] Problem with Installing Amazon App after upgrading to Lollipop. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do anyone have problem installing the Amazon App? It keep giving me an unknown error code 505 during install.

I have problems with the amazon appstore. I could install the apk but it is crashing when started. the amazon app is working fine, including the apps store section. The downside is that my apps bought from the amazon appstore want to authenticate but the appstore crashes so I can't use them. bummer.

I kind of figured out what was causing the problem, and got it installed now. It apparently there a conflict with another app that I have installed and it installed just fine after uninstalling it.

[Q] amazon app store down? cant sign in

I am unable to log in to the amazon app store. Tells me there is a temporary error and this has happened since yesterday. Anyone else or a fix?
Its working for me but it is very slow. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I have the same problem. I have no issues on my old backup of unity but if I flash any other ROM i cant sign into the app store. Says temp error.
Figured it out. I had to many devices registered under amazon. I went through and de-registered them and I got right into the app store.

Play store apps "not compatible"

Came across 2 apps today that I get "your device isn't compatible with this version" messages. These are 2 apps I use on my axon 7 with Android 7.0 so I know they work with nougat. I've tried deleting the cache and data for the play store and Google services but still the same. Anyone have this issue or any ideas on how to stop it? Also can anyone else check the "apple music" app and see if they can install it?

Some apps just won't be compatible until the developer(s) make the app compatible specifically for the Mate 9. However, I was able to download the Apple Music app.

Well that's interesting. I'm running the us version of the phone fully stock so what would be preventing me from installing it? My play store version is 7.5.08.M-all Phone software MHA-L29567B138

Are these 2 apps on Play Store the same versions of those you used on your axon 7 with Android 7.0?
As I know, some apps will not work with Android 7.0 until their developers have distributed the latest versions and have made them compatible with nougat.
Yes, in fact I just uninstalled them on my axon 7 and reinstalled them to verify them

Decided to reset the phone this morning and see if that fixed it. Before any updates took I was able to install the 2 apps showing as incompatible, however after about 10 minutes they went back to "your device isn't compatible with this version". I uninstalled the updates to the Google Play Store as well as Google Play Services and they still said "your device isn't compatible with this version" even though I checked the Play store build number and it was the same before the update and after uninstalling the update. Some update somewhere is causing a compatibility issue and I'm not sure what it is. I may have to reset the device again and not update any of the built in apps like Gmail, Youtube, etc. and hopefully catch whats causing it.
Edit: Reset again and everything was fine. Google play store was on version 7.4.12.L.all [0] [pr] 144479971 and remained there. Installed one of the apps I was having trouble with then updated system apps one at a time. After each system app I checked the other incompatible app and everything was good. Then after updating google maps the app went back to "your device isn't compatible with this version" so I uninstalled the maps update and cleared the cache and data and the app remained "your device isn't compatible with this version" . The play store stayed on version 7.4.12.L.all [0] [pr] 144479971 and play services never updated from what I could tell. This and some of the software bugs are becoming a bit aggravating. Really hoping the update comes soon and fixes some of the issues.
It's a DPI issue...You have to set display view to large, then install whatever apps you want, then set back to small or medium. That should fix for you.

Well I was hoping that would fix it but it didn't. I set the display view to large, rebooted. That didn't work so I cleared the play store and play services cache and that didn't do it either. Lastly I cleared the play store and play services data and rebooted and that didn't work either.
I'm not sure what's causing it since both the play store and play services are the exact same versions on my mate 9 and axon 7.
Edit: OK this is just stupid. I put the view back to small and font back to normal (where I've had it this whole time except to try the above fix) and now the app allowed me to install it. I don't know what fixes it but at least it's working lol.

Having this same issue with Amazon Store App. Works fine on my PixelXL and Nexus 6P...but for some strange reason, I cannot install it on my Mate 9. Go figure. It's really the ONLY app I'm having this issue with. All my other play store apps installed fine, and my settings and logins work fine. But for the life of me - I cannot install the Amazon Store app, even thought I have successfully installed the Amazon Kindle app. too strange....

Have you tried changing the display size? That definitely has something to do with it and even though for me it didnt work at first it definitely solved the issue. Change it to large, reboot and try, if no go wipe the play store data and play services data and reboot and try again. Keep changing the display size after that and eventually it will work. For me I had given up and set my device back to small which is where it originally was and out of nowhere it worked.
Now if they could just resolve Hulu without having to contact customer service things would be great.

Prime Video Issue G8142

I'm in the US and bought the 8142 because of the working fingerprint sensor and dual SIM capability.
I can't get Prime Video to work, I try the app and it throws me to the Play Store - which gives me the message of that app isn't available in your country. Also the app can't be uninstalled. I know Prime Video app in the US always has to be installed from Amazon's app store.
Has anyone come up with a work around and or know how to solve this issue?
Thanks
I got mine to work Friday and I'm not entirely sure what the magic bullet was. I think I ended up just downloading the APK directly and installing it from the phone. It did not work right away and I left it alone and some time later I was notifieded the app had updated and now it just works. Before that, I had the same issue where the "app" initially sent me to the Play Store to update and it would then say it's not available in my country. It works and shows up correctly in the Play Store now. I will update this post with screenshots with the version # shortly. Before I side-loaded the APK, the stock app had been disabled since shortly after I received the phone.
US user on TMO.
screenshots. don't have a "before one" but it was just the Play Store region error message. has anyone tried using a VPN to bypass the region issue? i really wish i had a better answer on why mine works now.

Nordvpn doesn't work on my xzp it doesnt connect.
Sent from my G8142 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
there could still be a region issue as i don't see any 4K/UHD content available.

Had the same issue, all you have to do is turn on setting to install from unknown sources, open Chrome on phone, search on Amazon Underground APK and install the APK, then install Amazon Video from within Amazon Underground. (then remember to turn off from unknown sources.
Thanks for the input. Today I went to try the app again and darned if it didn't open without issue and my usual Prime content is there, I'm now on the ...69501 build of Prime Video. Weird.

This is how I did it as well and I haven't had any problems with the app.

Strange App Behavior Just Started Last 24 Hours

Hi all
I have a Kindle Fire HD 10" bought on Black Friday special last month. I had no problems side-loaded and getting the GooglePlay Store up and running. I have installed apps from both GooglePlay and the Amazon App Store.
Over the last twenty four hours, several games and apps required updates in the GooglePlay Store. I applied them. I went to run them and I get an error message about SD Card Not Available. I have the 64GB Fire HD 10 and don't even have an SD Card installed. I have an option to select OK which just takes me out of starting the app or Download Again which when selected takes me to the Amazon Appstore and NOT the GooglePlay Store.
So I have tried a few things to troubleshoot. I uninstall the app in question. But it doesn't remove the icon. It is darkened but not removed. I then reinstall and it remains in that state and gives the SD Card error again. If I go to the GooglePlay Store and select Open on the app in question, it opens without an issue.
Several of the games use GooglePlay Games so I thought maybe that is an issue. I opened that app and it tells me there is an issue with GooglePlay Services. Is there an update for GooglePlay Services for the Fire HD 10 I am unaware of?
All the other apps work fine. It is just those that required an update in the last 24 hours. I don't have auto-update enabled and won't update any other apps if they appear until I get this worked out.
Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Thanks.
TJ
Found Partial Solution
I searched before posting but then found this post --
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/help/google-play-store-apps-disappeared-t3721523
It provides the solution for the strange app behavior and SD Card Install error, however, I am still getting an error message with GooglePlay Games and the GooglePlay Services.
Does anyone have any possible solutions for that? Thanks.
Did you get any update in last 24h? I heard that Amazon and Google are not in good relationship anymore, so could be that Amazon already started blocking Google apps/services.

The last update I got was 12/03/17. The last I read was that Google was back in talks with Amazon to fix the YouTube issue and Amazon Video is now available on the Play Store. So I don't know what is up.
Getting the same problem here. I tried uninstalling, but the icons remain on the home screen. Upon further testing, I have figured out the problem has something to do with the Amazon launcher. If you install and open up another launcher (I used Nova) then all of your apps will be there and open just fine. Hopefully somebody finds a solution soon.

Going into Manage Apps and clearing the date on the Amazon launcher (Home Page) fixed part of the problem. Then just force quit, and restart the Fire.
My problem now is a connection issue with Google Play Services and Google Games that was fine three days ago but now throwing up errors.
Same issue here. I deleted Google Play and reloaded it from the saved APK. That worked but only for a while. I loaded Nova launcher and it runs Play with no problems, even though it is dimmed out on the Fire home page. Very strange. My guess is that Amazon is implementing Google countermeasures. There must be a lot of new Fire HD users bypassing the completely inadequate Amazon app store.

Forgot to mention that newly installed apps do not appear on the Amazon home page either. Bummer. I actually like the native home screens.

Amazon music app thinks I'm in China

Hi,
I had to sign out of my Amazon music app and when I resigned into the app it comes up as amazon.cn
The app was previously installed from the play store and originally signed on just fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the play store. I've tried sideloading the apk and it still comes up as wanting me to sign in to amazon.cn
Amazon support has no idea why it's happening, but it's only happening on my mate 30 Pro 5g device.
Why is the app thinking I'm in China when I'm in the US? Again, it's only happening on this device.
Any thoughts on why this is happening and how I can fix it? It did previously sign in just when when I first installed the app maybe 6 months to a year ago.
Try to delete cache/data of the app.
Thank you for your response, but it didn't work. Neither did uninstalling and reinstalling.
Try other source for apk.
Delete the old one(s).
Check region in phone settings.
Thanks! Changing the region worked. I've had the phone a year and this is the first time an app did this.
