To migrate your old files to the new sdcard you need to manually copy them over through the pc. Once all items have been copied on to the new sdcard, you're good to go.
Thanks does the disk format have to be the same?

Are you formatting the sd card as fat32? by default windows will pick NTFS.. worth a look. The phone needs Fat32.
What type of MicroSD card is it?
And where did you get it from?
Is there any possibility it could be a fake? So actually a low capacity card like 2GB (or lower) pretending to be 32GB?
I used to have a program which would write to every sector on the card and prove it's actual size, very handy for checking cards from ebay, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called!
Make sure you are not quick-formatting the card and that you have set FAT32 as the file system
If you can copy files to the card on a computer and then use them, the card is ok. Maybe try the files on a second computer to double-check.
You can also try filling up the card with data... I once bought a 4GB card and only 2GB were working :|

I just recently bought a new 4gb card from eBay, I backed up my old card to the PC and put the new card in, mounted it with ums to the pc, and trasfered files, as soon as I disconnected it all the files got removed, sometimes some of them partially saved. I didn't have that problem with my old 2gb card so I'm not sure if the trouble is related with my phone or rom or the SD card. There are no errors in the transfer and all the time it's still open for transfer the files are still there.
Help please? :\
Bump, can anyone help?

Hello everyone, i am having a serious problem with my 128GB SD card. I have formatted it on my Shield before using it, but i can't move apps or files to the SD Card. It usally gives a error message. What should i do? Format it with a Linux Distro using GParted on the PC? Should i format it to FAT32 or NTFS? I'm out of ideas.
Thanks.

Mine works fine in FAT32, but would not work in Exfat or NTFS. I am still on 4.2 OS though.
I forgot to say i am using 4.4.2, OTA Update 77.
Also, it is suggested that exFAT with 2048 cluster size would work for 64GB cards. Is it a good idea to do this on a 128GB card?

It's because of Kitkat. You must install "SDFix: Kitkat Writable Micro SD" in Playstore to have the permission to write SD card. You need root access for that.

Do not use "SDFix KitKat Writable MicroSD" on Sony Xperia Z1 Compact with D5503_14.4.A.0.118... because it f..k your phone. When it is on cable (charging) and you turn it off, it will always auto-turn on.
Also same problem with my samsung 32gb memory card class 10it give a error and some times file moves but when i want to see those files they are converted into something u like icon and wont open how to fix it is there a way to fix it

Use a computer to format as above especially if it's a new card and try again the xa will take upto a 200gb sd card no problem.

Format in FAT32 with Gparted an Ubuntu if it doesn't work, working for corrupted card too.
the thing is... that the card is working on other devices..

Have you tried multiple sd cards in the xa, if so and they all refuse to work on the xa but work fine on other devices it could be the card reader is defective.

What brand of SD card is it? I'm having the same trouble with my Samsung Pro 64GB, whether it's formatted with FAT32 or ExFAT, and of course the card works in other devices and other cards work in the phone.
8GB here and no problem !
For me the only working way is to format again in Fat32 with Gparted and Ubuntu. Everybody will have this problem when disabling Adoptable Storage, formatting with the Android/TWRP/Windows will not solve the problem. And it seem to be the same with some cards "out of the box".
same as mine when i rooted my phone before haha
whenever I insert any sd card more than 16gb it displays a sd card is corrupted" notification. i tried a 64gb one on my xa and it did not work, however when i tried using it on my two other phone it works perfectly. the notification tells me to format the sd card but after i format it it says it's corrupted again. and help would be much appreciated. (right now im stuck with 16gb cards)

Seems like the problem is with the phone, try resetting it or better reinstall the firmware via Xperia Companion.

But from Android, my MicroSD cards in exFat (all my cards) are corrupt. I've check from PC all my card are working fine.
I think the problem is MM with exFat, I try Fat32, its work.
Can you help me please ?Hi luxmen
After rooting I found the same problem . I tried formatting on phone on Windows through card reader and again through cmd also through card reader and got the same result. I managed to get my old Xperia M2 back and reformatted which cured problem on the card in question [I reformatted using XA and problem returned].
I have seen on another post in XDA when formatted on another brand of phone this wouldn't work either.
