I'm just trying to get a idea of if I'm experiencing a problem or not. Lately I've been in areas in town that I'm only getting edge signal. Is there a way to find out if t mobile is supplying band 2 and 12 LTE in the areas I'm experiencing edge only? The areas are plenty populated.
Is there a coverage map that shows what bands are being used in my area?

Don't kill me. Why would my wife's iPhone 5 get much better scores on speedtest.net with the same server. I'm getting 5 where she is getting 23.

Same server but same location?

I would assume so. I'm holding both phones, choose the corpus Christi server, and hit begin test at the same time.
I'm assuming it's hardware, the antenna or something.

Anyway to compare the actual reception numbers? Inside my house using the nearest server I get around 5000kbps download and my signal strength is -108dBm 32 asu, that's 2 bars on the display. At my friends apartment where I can practically spit on the cellular antenna I'm so close I get max bars and over 60,000kbps down I didn't take note of what my actually numbers were in regards to signal strength on that one.
I use signal check pro. Since getting my n5 I have normally seen umts when the 3g icon is showing. All of the sudden today I am seeing wcdma when the 3g icon appears. I have never seen the wcdma before today. Now I'm seeing that in places around town that would always be umts. Can anyone explain why this would happen? It doesn't seem to be affecting my data though. Thanks

Hi
need your help, I have tried everything..
I can not connect to 3G
I tried to flash image factory/set correct APN setting with the operator/switch radios/replacing new SIM.
didn't helped my!
When I connect to 2G everything works for me, calls and online.
When I switch to 3G, I have no service, it writes me Unavailable operator.
It get stuck on the "Search" when I try to search manually.
When I try to go back to 2G, it is still stuck on "searching.." and I have no reception! Only reboot fixes it and I can go back to work with 2G.
It is important to note that when I take out the SIM I can find operator on 3G.
How can I fix the problem or even understand what it comes from?
I have Nexus tool kit, maybe I can sent you Catlog \ bugreprot?!
Thank You in Advance
What about, when you are in LTE ? Will you get 3G ? You should get either 3G or Edge (came to know that your country don't have LTE yet).

I don't have LTE in my country yet, and my operator only have 2G (no EDGE)
If you choose LTE on your phone, it supports all lower versions (i.e 3G / Edge) ! So you must get Edge (2G) !
LTE option doesn't force only LTE !

I know, if I choose LTE I get the same problem, no service..
Which network do you use?

This. The Nexus 5 very well may not support the 3G frequencies your network uses.
Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
I certainly know that this is not the problem, Nexus 5 is supported in my country
Should not be a problem with the 3G frequencies of both models 820 \ 821.
If that's the case, I'd recommend contacting your carrier.

Searched around on here but saw no results. Just noticed that during calls, data doesn't work. Is there a fix?

Data only is available during calls if you're on LTE and not doing VoLTE. Can you confirm what your connection is like?
I have LTE most everywhere but it does drop to 3G occasionally at my house so that could very well be the reason.

Yeah,,,the M8 is SVLTE, not SVDO (like the old Thunderbolt that could do voice/data on 3G) nor is it VOLTE.
You need to be in an area that your phone is receiving both a 4GLTE and 3G signals as it will use the 3G signal for voice and uses the LTE for data. Our phone never utilizes LTE for voice (I presume it uses 1X when there is no 3G signal available for voice...but that's rare as Verizon's existing 3G footprint is huge).

At your house, though, it should have data access over wifi. Unless, of course, you have wifi turned off.
I believe Wi-Fi was indeed off in this particular case. Thanks for all the help though!

Simple. U see 4g network in nav bar u can talk and surf internet. U don't, u can't UNLESS connected to WiFi. Easy.
Since purchasing this phone about a month ago, I haven't had LTE. I checked my SIM in my wife's iPhone 6s and it pulled LTE. My t-mobile rep said they know about the issue and quickly set me up for a warranty exchange. Anyone else have this issue? If it's a known issue, why isn't anyone else talking about it?
Can you guys confirm that the S7 has a designated stock LTE icon? Mine always says 4G and Ookla says my download/upload are 7.5 and 12.2 respectfully.
EDIT: latest firmware, no case on device, in Lemoore, CA., no known outages

Everything is good here.. I get "4G LTE" in the top bar...
You said that you put your wife's SIM card in your S7 and you got LTE?

Vise versa actually. My SIM pulled LTE on her iPhone. Her SIM in my S7 only got 4G, just like my SIM does in it.

My s7 also doesn't say LTE, only 4g. Is it suppose to say LTE? I'm in a major metropolitan area and haven't seen LTE. I got 100Mbps though from home.

I have no idea if we're SUPPOSED to have a designated LTE icon. Anyone have a screenie of the illustrious icon on a T-mobile S7?
Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
I haven't seen it but it sounds like it could be an incorrect APN setting. But I would have thought they would have you check that.

We checked the APN and even made another with T-mobiles settings manually inputted. Still nothing. The new phone comes Thursday. I will see if it's the phone, the service, or there really isn't an issue and where I live just sucks.

My Tmobile S7 never says LTE either. It always says 4G. I downloaded the LTE Discovery app from the Play Store and it clearly states that I am connected to the LTE network. It shows the signal strength, channel and tower I'm connected to. Hope that helps.

According to the screenshot, you are on Good Lock. That UI skin says 4G instead of LTE.

That seems to have been my issue here. Upon uninstalling Good Lock and restarting, my LTE popped up. Looks like my area just sucks

You guys are joking right? You're using Good Lock which uses the stock Google System UI icons. 4G = LTE
This is a pic of my homescreen, Icon shows 4G but I'm on LTE (Band 4).

No one was joking, and to comment with guns-a-blazing with the goal of offending someone isn't what this place is about. My area is suffering a congestion issue, so my LTE is still spotty. But at least I know that there is a designated LTE icon.

I do not know closest cross streets but putting just Lemoore, CA 93245 in search on the Sensorly website 4G is in surrounding areas but solid coverage is only for 3G. Check on the website and put in your cross streets. Looking on the Root Metrics coverage map shows 4G LTE.
Isn't 4g and lte the same thing?

Not really. LTE doesn't fully satisfy the requirements of a 4th generation GPRS. It is getting there, though. @42freelancer, I hope you don't do a warranty exchange over a UI bug. Do some speed tests and real use (Youtube, etc) to see what sort of service you're getting. The stock Samsung firmware for the S6 says 4G, not LTE...
