SIM Card Removed / Added - Restart Issue - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I've been having some issues with my Nexus 5 lately (about 2 weeks ago)... I've been getting the SIM Card Removed / Added error and completely kills my phone signal forcing me to restart the phone. This error happens over 40 times a day and from what I've been reading it's a software issue rather than a hardware problem. Has anyone found a fix for this problem?
Before I really did not care much about rebooting the phone and such, but lately it's forcing me to do it over 40 times a day and I barely get to do anything on it anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

had a user with a similar problem on Sprint. a new SIM fixed it.

I'm currently on T-Mobile and from what I read changing the SIM will not fix the problem.

From what you read? Did you at least try cleaning the SIM or try to change/swap it?

"No Sim Card" error... Do I need a replacement?

So I've been experiencing intermintent connectivity, "no sim card error" and extremely slow speeds. This is my second gs3 ("Updated" sticker), and I have not rooted or flashed the device.
What options do I have? Should I get replaced again?

I get the same error. I called Verizon to report the problem and they replaced my SIM only for the error to reappear hours later. I would try replacing your SIM, wiping your device, and calling Verizon to report the problem. I've google'd this issue and it seems like a fairly decent amount of people are experiencing this problem. It may have something to do with the area in which you're experiencing this problem, but that is only a guess.

I got this once. I restarted the phone and it went away and hasn't come back yet. Worth a shot at least.
I've had this same problem. Replaced both phone and sim card and nothing helps. I believe whatever is causing this is the same thing causing the notification asking to unlock the sim card on some aosp roms. It seems to only happen in certain locations which leads me to believe that it has something to do with the phone communicating with certain towers or trying to connect in certain specific situations. Unfortunately both verizon and samsung are ignoring the issue and I don't believe it is quite common enough for any developers here to try to fix it. So, I would suggest switching phones if it's not something you think you can live with.
this happened to me last night, I went to a concert in a rural area, the phone was working great until I got to the parking lot, then I had no sms/voice, 4G worked great though.
I am assuming we will never receive a fix for this?
I also had "no sim" errors a few times while using CM10, but nothing like last night, my phone was useless the entire time I was there.
Then as I drove away it magically started working again.

[Q] AT&T One X Sim not found

I've got an AT&T One X that I've had for about 2.5 months now. It's all stock ROM and has been working fine up until recently. I've started to randomly get a "SIM not found" error and it says I can only make emergency calls. If I toggle Airplane mode on and off, it typically finds the sim and things work fine for a while. It has happened today 4 times over the course of about 1 hour, so it's getting really frustrating. I already had the sim card replaced the first time it gave me this error, so I'm thinking it's not the sim card causing this, but other than that I'm at a loss.
Has anyone here experienced this and is there anything that I can do to fix the problem? Thanks for your help!
Requested moving to at&t forums.
Sent from my HTC One X
Backup your personal data, and try a factory reset.
Otherwise, if its all stock, and you've tried a different SIM, then you may have hardware failure, such as a broken SIM tray.

[Completed] [HELP]Nexus 6 T-Mobile problems

Had this Nexus 6 on Verizon for about 4 months and everything worked fine, switched to T-Mobile about a week ago and it is having major cell connection issue. Before I put the new sim I flashed the newest 6.0.1 version for the nexus 6 I could find on googles website, had no issue there. Inserted T-Mobile sim card and it worked for like 30 mins then keep disconnecting and connecting randomly, checked the APN setting and it looked exactly like the APN setting on T-Mobiles website. Every time I restart the phone it works perfect for like 30 mins and then the disconnecting begins. Went to T-Mobile and got no useful info on my issue just got 2 extra sim card but issue happens exactly the same on all of them. Checked phone info (*#*#4636#*#*) and that looked like a mess since it keep changing preferred networks from LTE/GSM/CDMA to unknown and T-Mobile info would appear from time to time tried switching bands same issue. I have tried all I know but can't solve this issue, please XDA help fix my phone.
P.Shone was bought from amazon a while back(Checked and is the US version).
Maybe this thread here may help or here.

Honor 8 - emergency call only

I have a really weird problem
I have an emergency call only message, the problem comes once in a while and it disappears after 10-20-30 seconds.
All was fine on my first honor 8 but I have changed/returned that device because of a faulty camera. So I got a new one + I bought one more for my wife. Now both devices have the same problem. I have even tested a fourth device (still honor 8) and I have always the same problem. I don't know if is a faulty SIM card or not because it was working on the firs one and I'm talking about two SIM cards....
Any suggestions/solutions?
Thanx

Try switching the network mode to 3G or 2G. Maybe the cell signal is a bit weak in your area.
I think it would be weird for all phones to have sim issue.. that it is a faulty sim.. you should change to new sim..
Try a different Sim on both devices, if it's not fixed, then try a factory reset
Hii @badcop
Did you solve the problem??
Please report back so that we also can know what to check and
to do if we bump in some kind of same situation..
Thanks
If nothing works, just rollback to MM and factory reset

I've tried to do a factory reset but the problem was here, and i'm using two SIM cards on two different phones with the same problem.
I need to try the first solution - switching from 4g to 3/2g instead of automatic.
Thanks
Did it work?!

Weird network problem - signal drops

Hi everyone,
has any of you ever had network problems, as can be seen in the video?
For a few days now both network connections have been breaking down when I try to make a call. But that doesn't always happen. Sometimes I can make 10 calls in a row and everything is fine, and sometimes nothing works. It doesn't matter which SIM I use to make the call. The problem occurs with both cards. If that happens, then either directly when dialing a number, or immediately after hanging up.
I've never seen anything like this. And I wonder if it's the software, the SIM tray, one of the cards or the network operator itself.
Can anybody please help me? This is quite annoying.
PS: Sorry for the German settings. „Keine SIM-Karte“ = No SIM card // „Dienst nicht verfügbar“ = no service
Clear sim tool kit data
Network reset
Clear system cache
Make sure the access point names are correct

Thanks for the advice, but this didn't help.
I did these 4 steps, but the first time I tried to call, both connections dropped again. Can there be a hardware problem at all? Looks more like a software issue, doesn't it?

The sim card, the usual hardware suspect...
They can be damaged by ESD; handled like a stick of ram.
ESD may not manifest itself for weeks, months even years. Insults are cumulative.
It's not expensive but it is a pain, try to not damage it as it left the plant A-OK.
Just like ram sticks poor handling is the cause of almost all sim card failures.

So, am I getting you right? I just go to the store and have the SIM card replaced and everything should work again?
I've tried a few things now. If I set SIM 2 to GSM, everything is fine. The connection doesn't break. I believe it is the 3G connection. And that's why these crashes could occur when I make calls. SIM 2 doesn't support VoLTE, so it switches to 3G.
EDIT: I've tried different things now. I swapped SIM 1 and 2 back and forth. I also used my two SIM cards alternately with a third SIM card. The problem persists. Could a hard reset help or should I send the device for repairs straight away?
Same problem here. Setting sim 1 to GSM only, and sim2 to LTE fixed my problem for a while. This has something to do with dual sim handling.

This is soooo anoying. Have you had this problem for a long time or did it only come recently? Could this have something to do with a recent update?
I bought the phone a month ago, and while I was setting it up it received 5 updates including android 11. So I have no experience prior to Android 11.

Damn, same here.
Have you tried cleaning the sim cards with rubbing alcohol?
Then put them back without touching the metal contacts.

No, I don't see any point in doing that. I swapped the SIM cards and even tried other cards and the problem was still there. If something had to be cleaned, it would be the SIM tray. But as already written, there are no disconnections when a SIM is operated in 2G. I think that rather means that it is a software problem.

I have this same problem with phone dropping off the network. For me it started after the first Android 11 update. I have full signal levels at home but if I try to make a call signal level for both sim cards drops and I get a message that mobile network is not available. Doesn't happen always but pretty often.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how the phone handles dual-sim operations...

I am glad, I am not the only one, who is facing this problem. I already thought, I have to send my phone back. So, we have to wait for a fix.
Must be patient. There is also bluetooth problem(disconnecting from devices). It looks like they were too fast with android 11.
Since the last update(.159), i also have the drop out problem. Starting to feel sorry for buying it...
So, let's hope the new .222 update, which has just arrived, will fix this.
EDIT: no, it doesn't.

Yeah, I even had to restart after the update, in order for the second SIM to become active...
Edit - and the problem is even worse. Almost after every incoming call I lose signal to both sims...
Edit II - I wanted to try to switch sim 2 to gsm only network, and noticed that there's 5G available for it too, after the update. Before that there wasn't such an option....

Since I use the second SIM only for business calls, I have already set it to GSM only. Today I noticed that I still have outages. So apparently to force 2G is no longer of any use. :/
About 5G: It has been active on my device since I got it. Perhaps there was an update on this from your carrier.
