Hi everyone,
has any of you ever had network problems, as can be seen in the video?
For a few days now both network connections have been breaking down when I try to make a call. But that doesn't always happen. Sometimes I can make 10 calls in a row and everything is fine, and sometimes nothing works. It doesn't matter which SIM I use to make the call. The problem occurs with both cards. If that happens, then either directly when dialing a number, or immediately after hanging up.
I've never seen anything like this. And I wonder if it's the software, the SIM tray, one of the cards or the network operator itself.
Can anybody please help me? This is quite annoying.
PS: Sorry for the German settings. „Keine SIM-Karte“ = No SIM card // „Dienst nicht verfügbar“ = no service

Thanks for the advice, but this didn't help.
I did these 4 steps, but the first time I tried to call, both connections dropped again. Can there be a hardware problem at all? Looks more like a software issue, doesn't it?

The sim card, the usual hardware suspect...
They can be damaged by ESD; handled like a stick of ram.
ESD may not manifest itself for weeks, months even years. Insults are cumulative.
It's not expensive but it is a pain, try to not damage it as it left the plant A-OK.
Just like ram sticks poor handling is the cause of almost all sim card failures.

So, am I getting you right? I just go to the store and have the SIM card replaced and everything should work again?
I've tried a few things now. If I set SIM 2 to GSM, everything is fine. The connection doesn't break. I believe it is the 3G connection. And that's why these crashes could occur when I make calls. SIM 2 doesn't support VoLTE, so it switches to 3G.
EDIT: I've tried different things now. I swapped SIM 1 and 2 back and forth. I also used my two SIM cards alternately with a third SIM card. The problem persists. Could a hard reset help or should I send the device for repairs straight away?
Same problem here. Setting sim 1 to GSM only, and sim2 to LTE fixed my problem for a while. This has something to do with dual sim handling.

This is soooo anoying. Have you had this problem for a long time or did it only come recently? Could this have something to do with a recent update?
I bought the phone a month ago, and while I was setting it up it received 5 updates including android 11. So I have no experience prior to Android 11.

Damn, same here.
Have you tried cleaning the sim cards with rubbing alcohol?
Then put them back without touching the metal contacts.

No, I don't see any point in doing that. I swapped the SIM cards and even tried other cards and the problem was still there. If something had to be cleaned, it would be the SIM tray. But as already written, there are no disconnections when a SIM is operated in 2G. I think that rather means that it is a software problem.

I have this same problem with phone dropping off the network. For me it started after the first Android 11 update. I have full signal levels at home but if I try to make a call signal level for both sim cards drops and I get a message that mobile network is not available. Doesn't happen always but pretty often.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how the phone handles dual-sim operations...

I am glad, I am not the only one, who is facing this problem. I already thought, I have to send my phone back. So, we have to wait for a fix.
Must be patient. There is also bluetooth problem(disconnecting from devices). It looks like they were too fast with android 11.
Since the last update(.159), i also have the drop out problem. Starting to feel sorry for buying it...
So, let's hope the new .222 update, which has just arrived, will fix this.
EDIT: no, it doesn't.

Yeah, I even had to restart after the update, in order for the second SIM to become active...
Edit - and the problem is even worse. Almost after every incoming call I lose signal to both sims...
Edit II - I wanted to try to switch sim 2 to gsm only network, and noticed that there's 5G available for it too, after the update. Before that there wasn't such an option....

Since I use the second SIM only for business calls, I have already set it to GSM only. Today I noticed that I still have outages. So apparently to force 2G is no longer of any use. :/
About 5G: It has been active on my device since I got it. Perhaps there was an update on this from your carrier.

My phone is getting worse now.
Even though it catches signals and the bar is about 3-4, this phone is not catching Verizon services.
Sim in installed and it keep saying no service area.
Sometimes when I go outside for 30 min, it finally get verizon service, but I can't text and call, but data was working.
Is it sim card problem or Simcard tray problem?
I'm sure it's not software problem because I have done all things that I could do with software.
please help!

Ok a lot of information is needed to diagnose the problem here. Is the phone rooted for one? Are you located inside or outside the USA?

Yes, this phone is rooted, however I did this 6 months ago and it worked perfectly fine.
This problem occured 2 months ago.

It could be the way the sim card is seated but I've taken my own sim card out more than once without issues. Maybe it's time for a new sim card?
From my Wicked S3 on SOKP
Hallo everyone,
What's up: my Nexus 5 can't make any type of calls.
The story behind: in march the memory chip of my Nexus 5 died, so I let it repair from the official LG support (it was still under guarantee). They changed the whole Motherboard and send me it back. At the same time, I received the new SIM card from my mobile network operator (o2 Germany) because I moved from prepaid to contract, but I still keeped my number.
Since the first day with the repaired Nexus and the new SIM, the LTE worked without problem and I could surf, but I couldn't make a single call. I talkd with the o2 Germany support, and they toldt me that It could have been a problem related to the number porting. After a few weeks the porting was officially completed, but I couldn't still make any call. Then after many weeks and many support calls, I had a so simple Idea...just let's test my o2 SIM on my old Smartphone (an HTC Desire)...and finally I could make a call! So I'm sure that the problem doen't lies on the operator or the SIM.
What's happen exactly with the Nexus 5 and the o2 SIM (here the Video): the LTE Network is full available, I call a number and appears "Dialing" (sometimes the screen turns black without any reason until I press the power button, but not this time), after seconds of absolute no sounds it shows the error "Cellular network not available". Of course I tried to call different numbers, but the problem persist and it still remains, even if I use another SIM from another operator.
I'm really concerned that maybe the problem lies on the Nexus 5 hardware, maybe the antenna, after a bad repair...but that's just what I suppose.
I'm looking forward for your opinions and support, thanks a lot!
Have you taken any steps to troubleshoot?
Seems the issue is the N5, as the SIM is working, but it is unclear where the problem lies. Have you checked the APNs, do they match the ones on HTC device? Maybe try reflashing factory image? Factory reset?
You said LTE is working, so it is not antenna, I think it is a software issue. Start by checking APN.
Thanks for your answer, I will consider the antenna as functional
I have been checking the APN Settings with the same o2 SIM on the two different devices (Nexus 5 and HTC Desire), they are identical, but the Nexus 5 got some extra settings.
As usual, with the Nexus 5 I can't call, but if I move the SIM on the HTC Desire it does. Just using the same dafault APN configuration. Those are the suggested configuration on the official o2 Website, but I would just stick with the default ones that already works (on Desire).
Any suggestion?
I would do a factory reset just a last choice, because I got tons of apps and data that needs time to be reinstalled.
Another info: the LTE Network on the Nexus 5 sometimes disappears, and then appears again.
Bump, any Idea about this problem and how I could fix it?
Hallo, I'm asking again for your support
those last weeks I couldn't get rid of the problem with the calls, and I'm still clueless about how I can fix it. At the end of the month the 2 years guarantee expires, so I need to hurry up.
Summary: SMS sometimes comes later als expected, sometimes LTE Data doen't work, most of the times I can't make calls.
What I have already done:
- already moved my main SIM (o2 Network) from my Nexus 5 on an old device, and there I have no problems at all, and I can make all the calls that I want.
- already checked the APNs, they are all on defaults settings and are ok.
- already tryed to use a fully functional SIM from another network operator (TIM Italy) on my Nexus 5, even if the Network is fully available I can't make any single call.
At this point, I'm pretty sure, that the o2 SIM and the o2 Network itself works fine.
Today I have done a factory reset after a full backup on my Nexus 5. With all default an no extra app there's no improvement at all, call function works only a few times, most of the times I got the Network but the call function doesn't work properly... here just a frash Video about it:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0yEcZCOozgkdmdjZWs0bkdIUnc/view?usp=sharing
After this try the LTE Network has disappeard (here a Foto) coming back only later as EDGE Network.
Could be maybe that after the Nexus 5 repair in march, the Device was assembled incorrectly and the Antenna have an unsteady contact?
Isn't the IMEI stored on the motherboard? If so, its possible you got a motherboard with a blacklisted IMEI.

I don't think that the officially LG Support (that replaced my Nexus 5 Motherboard im march) would use Motherboards with blacklisted IMEIs. Even if my motherboard had a blacklisted IMEI, then I shouln't be able to make any single call, but that's not what happens, because I can still and receive calls sometimes.
Well then I think you already know the answer. The warranty repair wasn't successful. You've eliminated everything else except the phone, and it used to work before, correct?

Yes, sadly seems that the problem lies on the unseccessful repair. Could you reformulate your last sentence/question? I didn't understand what you you mean
Is your phone switching to 3G while calling ? Because afaik, 4G can't be used to call someone.
So I suggest you to force your phone to stay in 3G and try making a call.
When I try to make a call with the LTE (4G, with full coverage showed), the call doesn't succeed (look at the last Video that I posted) and just after this the Network disappears and shows "Mobile Network Not Available" (but this doensn't happen always), then a few second later the LTE is available again.
When I move from LTE to 3G there's no Network available, and the call just doens't work. Same with 2G.
Update: I received back from the LG repairing my Nexus 5. In order to fix the problem with the calls, the entire motherboard was swapped. I didn't received more detailed informations about this fix, but right now it works again greatly.
So just randomly yesterday the mobile data on my Honor 6x just cut out. I am just getting the service signal bars, no 3G, 4G icon. I've tried resetting APN and formatting the phone back to original spec, but I still have the same problem. I also ejected the SIM and reset it just for a shot, but nothing.
I am using a T-Mobile MVNO called TAG Mobile if it makes a difference. I can make calls and text fine, and wifi works as well. Just the mobile data acts like I have it turned off. I've checked to make sure all toggles are switched on for 4G but to no avail.
Oh and I am running Nougat 7.0 emui 5. I've been using it for a couple months with no issues till now.
Can you try another SIM card?! Just to know if the issue is from the phone
I don't have one available right now, but I will try to get a replacement SIM sent out to me. I don't really have anybody near that would let me borrow their SIM either.
Ok, once you do it, let me know the results
Weird, the network came back up randomly. Didn't even need to try a different SIM card. Thanks

That's wonderful, enjoy
So me and my friend swapped our Ones because mine had a broken aux port and his was fine, but his casing is pretty battered. So my phone which is now his, its been fine for a few weeks but a few days ago, the network has been playing up. He cannot make calls, but can send texts. But, in network settings, no networks appear when you go to select one. The APN settings are correct, signal is a bit hit and miss, sometimes its there, and sometimes its there but cannot connect to the internet. WiFi works fine. I also tried swapping SIM cards and the same issues were happening with my SIM or his SIM.
It was running Sultan's CM13 ROM with the "firmware_fixed" firmware/radio. I thought maybe something had gone wrong so I then flashed Sultan's Lineage OS and it is still having the same problems. I've tried a full wipe and factory reset, no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? or could it be a hardware issue?
Thanks,

I've tried flashing the idprophecy's c1_11_00006 firmware , the stock 0241 modem and also the firmware_fixed one. All of them are doing the same thing, the main issue is that I get an error while searching for networks. I can call my network operator's topup number but people cannot call me, it either cannot connect or goes to voicemail.

My friend is on EE and I am on Three. Both are different networks, and with both sims, it does the same thing, It cannot find the network. I have tried both sims in the other OnePlus One and it detects the networks with no problem.
I guess the next step would be going back to full stock and see if that works. If that is a no go, I can only assume its a hardware issue
Hi again,
I have tried again to fix this phone but I think I have exhausted all software options. I fastboot flashed all the original stock files, completely went back to stock ROM and the same issues are there. It gets signal, and it says that mobile data is working, but doesn't actually connect if i open the play store etc. I managed to get a call to work for about 5 minutes before the call ended on this phone, but was still going on the other phone which called it. It does allow calls sometimes but they drop out, other times it wont dial at all.
At this point, I can only assume there is some antenna damage or something similar? I did a quick google and worked out that the antenna is on the daughter board on the bottom of the phone, and there is also an antenna wire also. Would it be worth it to buy these replacement parts and see if this would fix the issue?
Thanks

Its my friends phone now, we traded. And he said he hasn't dropped it or anything like that. But judging how battered the phone is that he traded me, he might have damaged it and not realized. It had been working fine for me in the 2+ years I had the phone. And after the trade, the phone worked fine for him for a few weeks. Its very weird. I've tried my SIM and his SIM in the phone, both sims work fine in my phone but not his.

I see,so if you believe that there could be a hardware damage, you can go with the network antenna and see if it fares.
Running xiaomi.eu 13.0.8 stable. All my outgoing calls end at 29m50s.
I have tried calling different numbers so not a problem with the called number. I have put my Vodafone UK SIM in my S22 Ultra and that's fine, but any call I'm on just terminates at 29m50s.
Has anyone else got this problem? Hopefully we'll see an update soon which may fix it.
this could just be your carrier having a call duration restriction, have you tried your sim card in another device to rule out carrier issue?

Yes. It's just the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. With my Vodafone SIM and EE SIM, they both disconnect calls, and in an iPhone, S22, Pixel, etc. they don't
Upgraded to 13.0.9 and still got the issue
Can anyone else try a call and see if they have the same problem?
Has anyone managed to make a call longer than 29m50s?
Just performed a factory reset and same issue.

yea 13.0.10 eu.
no idea. the only thing i noticed is a drop of quality due the spot where i am, constantly changes between 3g, 4g, 5g depending on where i am. but making it 4g only fixes.
So I formatted/wiped and went back to 13.0.8
Managed a 31 minute call
Installed 13.0.10, didn't sign in to anything, update any apps, etc.
Call disconnected at 29m50.
Time to give up with this phone I guess.
Hi,
I'm experiencing the same issue and it's been behaving this way since day 1. I've tried two different SIM cards. I've even gone as far as factory wiping the phone and even disabling VOLTE and using 3G for calls but it hasn't helped. I'm running on the stock CN ROM.
I want to return the phone, but I doubt I'll get it refunded in full since I've been using it for so long and I'm unsure what Giztop would do and how I'd be able to prove to them it's faulty. v13.0.11 was just released recently and it's not helped either.
I've decided I'm going to wait for the Vivo X90 Pro+ or Samsung S23U and be done with this phone since this issue is a dealbreaker as I tend to make a lot of calls since I also use this as both my personal and work phone. I'm kind of disappointed and am going to miss the camera a lot.
