Mobile data stopped working, APN is correct. - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

So just randomly yesterday the mobile data on my Honor 6x just cut out. I am just getting the service signal bars, no 3G, 4G icon. I've tried resetting APN and formatting the phone back to original spec, but I still have the same problem. I also ejected the SIM and reset it just for a shot, but nothing.
I am using a T-Mobile MVNO called TAG Mobile if it makes a difference. I can make calls and text fine, and wifi works as well. Just the mobile data acts like I have it turned off. I've checked to make sure all toggles are switched on for 4G but to no avail.
Oh and I am running Nougat 7.0 emui 5. I've been using it for a couple months with no issues till now.

Can you try another SIM card?! Just to know if the issue is from the phone

I don't have one available right now, but I will try to get a replacement SIM sent out to me. I don't really have anybody near that would let me borrow their SIM either.

Ok, once you do it, let me know the results

Weird, the network came back up randomly. Didn't even need to try a different SIM card. Thanks

[Q] 3G does not work 4G fine

Today as soon as I left a 4G area my 3G does not work. I tried everything and I get no internet connection with 3G or 1X. When I go back into a 4G area it works fine. But if I move back into a 3G area I get no internet connection. Do you think my CDMA modem is fried?
Im having a problem with mine in general where as my thunderbolt was fine. Either I have nothing, 3g and most of the time no 4g. Headed to verizon after lunch.
It's most likely your SIM card. Had the same issue and ended up with a replacement phone for no reason. Go get a new SIM from VZ and try it.
This solution may work but definitely couldn't hurt to try. I had the same problem you seem to be having, and flashed all roms and versions of software and still only 4G would work. I thought the 3G was fried and seen very few alternatives online besides new SIM or new phone. Saddened I went to bed with battery out and SIM out and as soon as I popped them in the next morning, 3G was normal and has been normal for weeks now. I can't explain it but it more than likely has something to do with the SIM card like everyone else is saying.
Dont know why but after a few days it actually started working. Thanks to all who tried to help.
Im in a 3g only area right now. Never really had the no data problem, but suddenly I am and my phone freaks out and I sometimes lose signal for 20 mins. I'm pretty sure someone from verizon said told me not to take out the sim card
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
I had sim card replaced and its still screwed getting replacement sent. They also had me do all kinds of other whack stuff that didnt work.
I lost 3g/internet also and tech support was going to send me another phone, but I tried the new sim card and Bingo. It worked! Thanks for the post, it saved me from having to flash my phone back to stock"for the warranty."
I did all the things they said to do, sim card, format sd card several times and new gmail account. Got replacement phone in and everything is working great so far.

3G not working on Nexus 5

I've been using my 3G mobile connection for quite a while now.
Well, WAS using, someday, it suddenly stopped working. I thought it was because I exceeded my 250mb limit but, unfortunately, it wasn't that.
It usually showed up 'H' and had a fairly nice download speed, but now it only shows E and has a tremendously bad download speed.
So, after figuring out it wasn't my plan having its limit exceeded, I decided to try somethings to fix it. At the time I was using the most recent CM11 nightly.
I did a wipe and installed the latest snapshot. Didn't work.
I tried configuring the APN, exactly like my parent's Moto G, and had no luck.
And then now, as a last resort, did a COMPLETE wipe(including internal storage), and flashed the latest Android L ROM available.
Nothing worked, at all, actually.
I've also tried inserting my SIM card to my mother's Lumia 720. It worked as it should. Showed up 'H'. Her functioning SIM card also didn't work on my cellphone.
I'm getting desperate.
I live in Brazil, and my mobile operator is "Oi"
call your operator. you are getting edge, "E". thats very slow data speeds! also, look in tbe main settings, mobile networks. what is it set for.. lte, 3G, or 2G?

As I said, the SIM card works properly on another cellphone, and other SIM cards don't work on mine. The network is set for 4G.
The problem is on the cellphone, that's for sure. I ran out of ideas so I decided to post here.

try this.. dial *#*#4636#*#*, then press phone info, then change the lte/gsm to wcdma preferred. this will prefer 3G(not lte). btw, have you tried calling your operator? it can just be how they have you set up in their system now.

I did call my operator, but they told me to try the SIM card on another phone to see if it works and it worked. They didn't have anything to do.
Also, I've tried configuring that, still shows E. If I choose "Only WCDMA", my network goes unavailable.

did you try the *#*#4636#*#*?
if its fine with the other sim card, then its not your phone. you might need a new sim card.

dont know what to tell you, honestly. you tried another sim card in your phone, and it works. you tried your sim card in another phone, and it works. but your sim card doesnt work properly in your phone.. it should be working in your phone as well then, unless you do not have a 3G signal around you. personally, id just ask them for a new sim card, just in case.

No no, I tried another SIM card on my phone and it didn't work. It's all about the phone, not the sim card.

I bought it from the internet. I don't think I can get an exchange.
UPDATE:
I've figured out the problem. It's the signal. When the H signal isn't strong enough, it goes to E. I was on another place on my city today and there H was working, and exactly when I got back, the signal started being EDGE.
Now, I've tried flashing another radio. I just downloaded the ZIP and flashed. Note that I am on Android L. It still has the same problem. Now I ask, how may I fix this?

[Q] Suddenly phone has lost complete mobile network

Hello there,
Guys really need your help. This is for my friend's phone;
Since last evening, his One has lost complete mobile connectivity. He says he didn't do anything out of the ordinary, nor did he drop the phone or anything.
Absolutely no network even after countless reboots. Once or twice the phone caught some network but only for a few minutes. Tried different SIM cards too. He had been using this phone flawlessly for 3 months, until yesterday.
He is an amateur at playing around with the phone, so I rooted the phone and installed a Lollipop based custom ROM hoping that would solve the issue, but no luck. Even reverted completely back to CM11 (44S) and then did a factory reset, still no coverage.
The phone is connecting to WiFi and seems to have no other issue at all. Only connecting to mobile network is the problem.
What do you guys think? What should I try to do now? Has anyone else encountered this issue, how did you fix it? I read a lot of posts here and on OnePlus Forums but haven't found an answer to this specific problem yet.
Edit-
I did try setting the correct APN, no luck
I have the same problem! I have tried everything: other modems, full wipes, back to 100% stock. The customer service keeps telling me to look at my APN settings...
Sometimes the phone is also stuck in airplane mode after rebooting.

Same here, I tried flashing a modem as well.
You can dial *#06# and see if your IMEI is visible, few users have suddenly lost it and hence no signal. For me the IMEI is present, still no signal
I had a similar issue yesterday after flashing CM12.1. Mobile data would completely cut out with no signal. I found if it toggled mobile data off and back on in settings it fixed it for the time being.
remove sim

Power off the phone, take your sim out and restart the phone without it, then power off the phone, insert the sim, and restart it with the sim in.
Or see if you can't borrow a friend's sim from another carrier.
Worth a shot.

I tried this multiple times, just tried it again but no luck. All other SIM cards don't work, even from different carriers (tried 3).
Also my APN settings sometimes show and sometimes they don't. When I try to save new ones, they don't show up.
My IMEI and baseband are visible and have not changed.
you've been trying

It might be worth it to wipe all the partitions individually from recovery, however first browse the forums to make sure you can do some sort of unbrick or restore the phone if it blows.
There may be data that is not being erased with lesser formats or factory reset. There were things stuck with my phone and it didn't resolve until I formatted all the partitions--except system, I think--after which it worked properly.
Do not just leap blindly in though, so you can be sure to get back out if stuck.

Good luck.
You guys would be glad to know that the phone sprang back to life on it's own
Hadn't used it for about 2 days and was ready to take it to the service centre, thought I'd give it one last try, inserted SIM and voila. Full network and working smoothly since.

No mobile data all of a sudden

I was using a card with 2g mobile data on marshmallow. Then I inserted a different sim with 3g data into my phone but it hasn't been detecting any mobile data since then.. I tried the same card with a different phone and the interest works perfectly on it. I also tried other sim cards with my one plus one but I am not getting any data at all now. I downgraded to 5.1 wondering it may be a glitch with MM, but no luck. Anyone with any clue about what needs to be done?
Thanks in advance.

maybe you need to set 3G or LTE in settings --> cellular data
or set apn configuration according to sim's carrier
It took me a couple of days to notice that my data wasn't working after the last update. I thought, since my network has terrible coverage, that I wasn't getting any network signal...but no, something was broken.
After tinkering with the APN settings (according to network specs) and doing everything I could think of nothing seemed to work.
Finally, I reset APN to default (holding the menu icon on the upper right corner) and switched to 3G instead of 4G.. finally got a signal
Switched back to 4G and everything is back to normal now.
I did notice that APN type is set to "default, supl" even though the carrier says that when setting it manually one should type "default".
Network is lycamobile UK

Weird network problem - signal drops

Hi everyone,
has any of you ever had network problems, as can be seen in the video?
For a few days now both network connections have been breaking down when I try to make a call. But that doesn't always happen. Sometimes I can make 10 calls in a row and everything is fine, and sometimes nothing works. It doesn't matter which SIM I use to make the call. The problem occurs with both cards. If that happens, then either directly when dialing a number, or immediately after hanging up.
I've never seen anything like this. And I wonder if it's the software, the SIM tray, one of the cards or the network operator itself.
Can anybody please help me? This is quite annoying.
PS: Sorry for the German settings. „Keine SIM-Karte“ = No SIM card // „Dienst nicht verfügbar“ = no service
Clear sim tool kit data
Network reset
Clear system cache
Make sure the access point names are correct

Thanks for the advice, but this didn't help.
I did these 4 steps, but the first time I tried to call, both connections dropped again. Can there be a hardware problem at all? Looks more like a software issue, doesn't it?

The sim card, the usual hardware suspect...
They can be damaged by ESD; handled like a stick of ram.
ESD may not manifest itself for weeks, months even years. Insults are cumulative.
It's not expensive but it is a pain, try to not damage it as it left the plant A-OK.
Just like ram sticks poor handling is the cause of almost all sim card failures.

So, am I getting you right? I just go to the store and have the SIM card replaced and everything should work again?
I've tried a few things now. If I set SIM 2 to GSM, everything is fine. The connection doesn't break. I believe it is the 3G connection. And that's why these crashes could occur when I make calls. SIM 2 doesn't support VoLTE, so it switches to 3G.
EDIT: I've tried different things now. I swapped SIM 1 and 2 back and forth. I also used my two SIM cards alternately with a third SIM card. The problem persists. Could a hard reset help or should I send the device for repairs straight away?
Same problem here. Setting sim 1 to GSM only, and sim2 to LTE fixed my problem for a while. This has something to do with dual sim handling.

This is soooo anoying. Have you had this problem for a long time or did it only come recently? Could this have something to do with a recent update?
I bought the phone a month ago, and while I was setting it up it received 5 updates including android 11. So I have no experience prior to Android 11.

Have you tried cleaning the sim cards with rubbing alcohol?
Then put them back without touching the metal contacts.

No, I don't see any point in doing that. I swapped the SIM cards and even tried other cards and the problem was still there. If something had to be cleaned, it would be the SIM tray. But as already written, there are no disconnections when a SIM is operated in 2G. I think that rather means that it is a software problem.

I have this same problem with phone dropping off the network. For me it started after the first Android 11 update. I have full signal levels at home but if I try to make a call signal level for both sim cards drops and I get a message that mobile network is not available. Doesn't happen always but pretty often.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how the phone handles dual-sim operations...

I am glad, I am not the only one, who is facing this problem. I already thought, I have to send my phone back. So, we have to wait for a fix.
Must be patient. There is also bluetooth problem(disconnecting from devices). It looks like they were too fast with android 11.
Since the last update(.159), i also have the drop out problem. Starting to feel sorry for buying it...
So, let's hope the new .222 update, which has just arrived, will fix this.
EDIT: no, it doesn't.

Yeah, I even had to restart after the update, in order for the second SIM to become active...
Edit - and the problem is even worse. Almost after every incoming call I lose signal to both sims...
Edit II - I wanted to try to switch sim 2 to gsm only network, and noticed that there's 5G available for it too, after the update. Before that there wasn't such an option....

Since I use the second SIM only for business calls, I have already set it to GSM only. Today I noticed that I still have outages. So apparently to force 2G is no longer of any use. :/
About 5G: It has been active on my device since I got it. Perhaps there was an update on this from your carrier.
