[Completed] [HELP]Nexus 6 T-Mobile problems - XDA Assist

Had this Nexus 6 on Verizon for about 4 months and everything worked fine, switched to T-Mobile about a week ago and it is having major cell connection issue. Before I put the new sim I flashed the newest 6.0.1 version for the nexus 6 I could find on googles website, had no issue there. Inserted T-Mobile sim card and it worked for like 30 mins then keep disconnecting and connecting randomly, checked the APN setting and it looked exactly like the APN setting on T-Mobiles website. Every time I restart the phone it works perfect for like 30 mins and then the disconnecting begins. Went to T-Mobile and got no useful info on my issue just got 2 extra sim card but issue happens exactly the same on all of them. Checked phone info (*#*#4636#*#*) and that looked like a mess since it keep changing preferred networks from LTE/GSM/CDMA to unknown and T-Mobile info would appear from time to time tried switching bands same issue. I have tried all I know but can't solve this issue, please XDA help fix my phone.
P.Shone was bought from amazon a while back(Checked and is the US version).

Maybe this thread here may help or here.

S2 Skyrocket take over 2 minutes to acquire network.

Hi all,
I just bought a used Skyrocket and unlock the phone using unlock code I bought from other website. But when I put the TMobile Sim card and restart the phone, the phone took about 2 to 3 minutes to acquire the network signal. So I used a friend AT&T Sim Card and restart the phone but the phone still took 2 to 3 minutes. The Android version is 2.3.5 and Kernal Version is 2.6.35.11. Does anyone encountered this problem before? I search around but didn't found any thread mention about this problem. I just don't know if it is because of the phone or because of the unlock code? Thanks all.
nevermind... found a solution. Have to reset the APN so it recognize Tmobile. Now it is able to pickup TMobile right at startup.
Depending on where you are signal wise when useing a unlocked phone it is pretty typical bout taking it's time connecting on a different network other than what it was set up for but over all would say if it pick's up and function's properly it should be fine. I have had a few do the same thing sound's pretty normal. Hope this helped ya.

[Q] OPO on T-Mobile - 2nd OPO, same problem - network connection issue

Hello all,
Back again.
I'm trying to get my "2nd" OPO to work on T-Mobile USA.
First of all, it is not a SIM issue. I have 2 microSIMs that can be used freely across all T-Mobile enabled devices.
Once I try to connect to T-Mobile, it gives me a "Your SIM card doesn't allow connection to this network".
I tried the 'unlock the basebands/LTE process', got as far as ADB talk, but I cannot execute the su command, so the setprop does not work.
And this is my 2nd phone, a replacement from OPO. 2nd month running already. The 1st one had the same issue, but at the time I did not do research on tinkering with it,
and was 'NAIVELY' believing in OPO's customer 'service'.
Took me 2 weeks just to get 2 basic replies of "tech support", which didn't help since they gave me rather weak tech suggestions - 1st suggestion was reset, 2nd suggestion
was to look at the T-Mobile thread (I cannot connect to network, so how do you expect me to connect to APN?!?) . Then took them 3 weeks to go through the RMA process,
and yet another 2 weeks to send me a replacement(not).
Any assistance appreciated.
Check your imei on the tmo compatibility site. It could be blocked. Dumber things have happened. Double check that the SIM is installed properly. Second replacement and multiple sims seems to point at something you are doing.

Thank you for your response!
Yes, the IMEI is not recognized on t-mobile. Which is stupid since this is the second one (the 1st one had the same issue too).
Has anyone else gone through this frustrating experience? To have two OPOs whose IMEIs are not recognized is...... well.... $!%#!. :silly:
SIM installations are fine. I have done them multiple times, with the same results.

Future reference no need to create a new thread to ask the same question as before. You should of just continued your first thread so others would know what you have been going through and what was done to try and fix it. Glad you got it sorted or did you....

Got it.
Unfortunately no. Second OPO, same issues again. IMEI is not supported either. So, Groundhog Day here.
I'm with you man. I left vzw for T-Mobile and struggled like hell with getting the OPO working properly on it. From loaner phones to multiple sims, they/we tried everything. End result was to leave for at& . The signal is strong, but yet I keep missing calls daily. This beauty is going up on eBay. I just can't take it anymore. Sucks because Dev involvement is Huge here
Register and activate your phone with T-Mobile... I had the same issues for MetroPCS, and that fixed it.

I dont have any issues with network on Tmo, but what do u mean by register and activate ?
What I am saying is, you need to contact your carrier and get your IMEI entered into their system in order for the phone to run all services correctly on your carrier... whether it be T-Mobile or anybody else.
My 1+1 ran most of the services and operated on my SIM card and phone number in my hometown area. But, when I went to another area or town, it would not register with or run on any carrier... NONE! not even roaming like it does at home. I had to go to MetroPCS (on T-Mo network) and get my phone activated onto their system for it to run data, and 4G LTE. By just inserting the SIM card does not automatically sign your phone into the system and you should call or go to a dealer store and get it turned onto your particular carrier to run the network correctly.
Hope this clarifies my statement.
I never had to register or the like with my OPO for t-mobile. Didn't have to with my wife's OPO either.
It's a common enough issue across carriers. Sometime you do have to register the phone, and make sure you have the correct APN settings.
I just gave my daughter my OPO, I had Consumer Cellular (ATT) SIM in it. She dropped in her T-Mobile SIM and off she went, working perfectly. She's been using the phone about 2 weeks now, and in response to your question, I just checked her aPN, since I knew it's been working perfectly for her, only to discover the phone pulled in a MetroPCS APN! It's been working so well, she doesn't want me to change it to the T-Mobile APNs that are in the list.
Here is her APN settings (Calif-San Diego area), MetroPCS
name MetroPCS LTE
apn fast.metropcs.com
MMSC http://metorpcs.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
mcc 310
mnc 260
apn type default,mms,supl
apn protocol IPV4
apn roaming protocol IPV4
mvno type none

What APN is you OPO set to?
I had just popped in the SIM card and it did work in my local area. But when I went outta town, my phone wouldn't connect to any services, no roaming either. I use MetroPCS on T-Mobile network, and nothing would run without activation on their system and registering the IMEI. So, results may vary depending on the carrier or area.

registering
I am a frequent visitor to the USA from Canada. Usually with my original Samsung or Nexus rdware from Canadian carriers, but unlocked.
Each US carrier has insisted on registering my IMEI prior to activating a SIM. It seems to the user you can pull a SIM and place in any old device and most times, no problem. But that's not the carrier approved method.
T-MO was very insistent on this. To the point they would not activate a SIM for me with out the device and the IMEI first
Hopefully registering with your carrier solves this. It's a thing and may be the point of issue for you.

[Q] Google Nexus 5 - No Mobile Network Issue

Hello,
I am from India. I had purchased a Google Nexus 5 phone (Black/ 32GB) last year (December 20th, 2013)
I have started facing a serious issue since yesterday. My entire mobile network went down all of a sudden. Tried using other SIM but of no use. The same SIM works fine in other phone. Other functions including WiFi in Phone works perfectly fine.
A couple of things that I noticed are:
1) When I try to search for the Network manually, I get the message "Error while searching for Network".
2) I noticed that the PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE is defaulted to LTE. I cannot select any other option 2G or 3G.
3) When used Choose Automatically option - it starts with Automatic Registration and then flashes an error "Can't connect to this network right now try again later"
I tried doing a Factory reset hoping that it would work. But, no success. Have contacted LG Direct Service Center (since I bought it from retailer and not from GooglePlay store) and they suggested it's a PCB problem and it needs to replaced which would cost me around 12K INR. Which I am not ready for.
Please let me know what needs to be done. Any help is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Vijay

He's clearly not in airplane mode.
I have tried with all basic troubleshooting options, kindly check the attached screenshots. Please please help needed urgently.
I was going to make a new thread, but his problem matches mine almost exactly.
Hi guys, i have this problem for over a week now.. A very frustrating week i must say. I got this n5 about a month ago, my uncle got himself a G3 and gave his nexus to me.
Everything was smooth, amazed by the phone, everything working fine, happy as hell. It all crumbled when I went to spend the holidays at my brothers, where he lives my carrier doesn't work (everyone uses another one). When i got back to my house where the mobile network works fine it just stopped. All other sims would work on my phone and my sim work on other phones.
I gave it a time, thought it would be cause i spent too much time on my brothers and it would be ok after a while. It didn't. Then i started to worry and try to fix it somehow. First i got a new simcard (same carrier), no bueno. They told me to restore my phone and stuff, it didn't work. The phone has always that empty triangle, doesn't matter if it's 3G, 4G or 2G.
So I came to the internet look for help. I saw that some people had bring this to the LG, their response was to do a recovery with fastboot and then put 2G on the mobile network. For a moment i thought it was over, my phone finally had some bars !! But to my disgrace I can't make nor receive calls, i can only send/receive SMS and access internet thru 4G, not 2G as the support said. Oh, if i put 3G or 2G dem bars go missing and the empty triangle ****er appears again. Still, my simcard works on every other phone but now only one carrier works on my phone (not mine unfortunately).
Then I started looking on forums like this one and a whole bunch of others and tried many things, all of them unsuccessful.
I tried many things, maybe forgot some but will list those that i remember.
I tried to flash the factory rom. Then tried to flash only the radio of previous androids (tried too many of them to count). Dialed that *#*#4636*#*# or smth, put LTE/GSM, only LTE, activated/deactivated radio. Airplane mode on/off. Tried to recovery on fastboot again. Tried to make new APN. To finish my story, put a Cyanogemod rom and it also didn't work.
So now i decided to post here as my last shot before i go to that carrier that still works. Also, what guarantees that this carrier won't stop working like the others? I'm afraid that may happen. Further informations, i saw many people complaining about T-Mobile and other carries, but I'm brazilian, so it's not one of these. My carrier is Oi and the one that still works is TIM.
The two threads i got most tips were these and some sites in portuguese:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-5/357547-nexus-5-cell-signal-problem-s-fix.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/bug-make-receive-calls-wifi-enabled-t2839814
Thank y'all in advance and sorry if my english make it hard or impossible to understand.
My fingers are crossed!

Lost Signal (Verizon)

Earlier today I was attempting to switch to Textra as my new texting app, but had issues getting MMS to come through, so I followed some steps to attempt and change the APN for my phone. Somewhere while doing this and rebooting a few times I lost signal on my phone and couldn't get it back. I flashed a new ROM (viper) and the signal came back for a while, but then the phone rebooted to finish an update and I lost it again (so I'm pretty sure its not my sim card).
I am able to get the signal to come back for about 3 seconds every time I toggle airplane mode. I'm not sure why this is, maybe its not actually connecting? Any ideas what to do to fix this issue? I tried a safe reboot through Viper but still had the issue so it doesn't seem to be any apps interfering or anything like that.
Found a bit of a workaround that does something...
Went into the hidden phone info settings and set preferred network to LTE/CDMA (or LTE only, both worked). This allows me to use LTE for loading websites and apps and stuff but texting and calling do not work.

Same issue. Seems to be the same problem that's been under discussion for months. Verizon just immediately blames it on the device (despite the fact that they can't explain why it worked fine a week ago or why I still get data). My solution is to just switch to t-mobile. I'll be saving myself $30-40, getting unlimited (instead of 6GB) and a network that works fully. Just waiting for my sims to arrive. I know it's not really a solution but Verizon seems to be completely unwilling to even acknowledge the issue let alone fix it. Problems seems to exist on other BYOD phones as well so it's debatable whether they're just incompetent or actively blocking devices they don't sell.

FYI, the tldr of that thread is that no fix or root cause is known, but it's happening to a seemingly significant number of people. Pretty much everyone gave up trying to use the U11 on Verizon after having the issue by either switching phones or carriers. With one or two getting a replacement U11 and claiming that it work, for now at least. The issue seems isolated to only Verizon.

Appreciate the tldr, I remembered seeing that thread before I bought the phone but didn't read through it completely. Not sure what I'll do, probably get a new phone...

Question Phone won't stay connected to mobile data for more than a few minutes before disconnecting.

I just got my 7 Pro all set up a couple hours ago. I'm using Straight Talk with a Verizon SIM and I'm having serious mobile network connection issues. It will connect to 5G/LTE for a few minutes, then it will just disconnect and tell me I don't have service. I have to cycle Airplane Mode and it will connect again for a few minutes before disconnecting again. When it is connected, it has decent reception(around -112 dBm). I've checked my APN settings and they match my old phone(Oneplus 9 Pro), so I don't think that's the issue.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Sorry to hear that. I'm using Tracfone with a Verizon SIM. Will get the phone tomorrow and will report back if I'm having the same troubles. For what it's worth, I'm not having problems with the Verizon SIM on my Pixel 6 Pro.

I was in a chat with Straight Talk support for a couple hours and I tried everything they suggested, but nothing fixed it. I've now been in a chat with Google support(For nearly 2 hours now) trying to get them to let me exchange mine for a new one.

I hope so too. In my 2+ hours with Google support, I found that on their end, it's coming up as a Google Fi version, even though my order email and the SKU on the box all show Unlocked. I found that out when I was finally granted an Advanced Exchange RMA and the only version available for me to order was the US-Fi version. Luckily I caught the model number before I clicked the order button.
7 minutes after my first 2 hour and 27 minute support chat, I had to start another 30 minute support chat trying to get them to switch my available replacement to the unlocked version. They told me they will have to contact their team and they'll get back to me within 24-48 hours. I've never been closer to putting my fist though my monitor than tonight....
I caved after saying I wouldn't get the P7P but the trade-in offer was too good to pass up xD. With that said, I have no issues with my connectivity and I'm on Verizon. Signal seems about the same, maybe a bit better in my place which usually sits at -100-110~ dBm. Can't get a solid 5G connection in my building so I just have LTE active to prevent battery drain from trying to connect/seek the 5G signal.
Based in Norway. I have the same issue. Just got my phone , tried 2 operators and 3 sim, same issues i just saw there were an update. I am installing it now (It takes for ever) and will report back

72MB update downloaded and after 1 hour, only 50 % done... hhhmmm must be upgrading the tensor chip lol...
This is NOT good! Mine is supposed to delivered today but not until 7 PM at the latest. Using Mint currently which uses T-Mobile. I do not really care about 5G as I think it doesn't add much over LTE but I still expect a phone that costs nearly a grand to WORK as advertised...PERIOD. I have no qualms about sending it back for a full refund if necessary!
Looks like someone on Reddit had the same issue as well. Looking like it could be a pretty widely reported issue as the day progresses. Hopefully a software problem, but definitely one that should have been caught.
Someone wrote as well that after the update , problem was gone...

That's awesome. I wish it would have fixed mine.. Google canceled my first RMA this morning, but I'm still waiting for them to process my new RMA request, so they can send me the link to order the proper unlocked replacement phone.
Basically spent all day on this... received my phone from Best Buy
Did a xfer of all my data from one phone to the other
Once the phone was ready to rock and roll i swapped my sim to find there was an issue
Spent some time on the internet to find out there is an issue and a possible software update is the fix
Spent over an hour getting the software update complete to find out this fixed nothing
Local Best Buy locations near me dont have the phone in stock
They said next week is when they will have more in stock for a swap
So frustrating....
I had this issue, took the update, and it's fixed.
My 7 Pro came from Best Buy as well. Using a Tello MVNO SIM that runs on the T-Mobile network. So far, so good.
EDIT: I should mention that it's LTE only unfortunately because Tello is still suffering from an issue that boots their customers from the network if we connect to 5G SA and the Pixel has no way to turn that off as far as I can tell unlike my OnePlus 9 that had a dev option for it. Fortunately T-Mobile has excellent LTE here so I don't really miss 5G.
No mobile issues with mine on Fi.
I installed the security patch first thing, though, so I can't really say if there were issues pre-patch.
I am so happy now!!

When issue is fixed as mentioned but i figured out that the update failed twice without notifying me anything. I removed the simcard prior to the update and it got stucked. The update seemed to be stucked at about 60-70%- I paused it wait a bit then Black screen... So i decided to switch off the phone, reinsert the SIM and proceeded with the update without touching the phone. After over one hour, i got the message to reboot. Not sure if that help anybody.

Yeah my update did complete and took a while to do so and I even checked this morning to see if there is any new updates but none sofar yet or even new comments stating to try something new. Sofar has been an expensive paperweight.
