I have an HTC One M8 for Verizon, rooted with WeakSauce and S-Off. I only did this to install the Harman Kardon speaker software. I was wondering if I update my software, will it unroot my phone and get rid of the Harman Kardon software? This is probably a dumb question but I am very new to rooting. Thanks for any help.
Yes updating will make weaksauce no longer work. Use firewater to get s-off then follow the posts in verizon m8 android development to update firmware. Its all on xda you just have to look through the verizon m8 posts.
If you're s-off you don't need to use Weaksauce. Root through an aftermarket recovery.

And so rooting through an after market recovery will let me update firmware without unrooting? What's a good after market recovery/easiest to use

I have TWRP already, does that mean that I can update my firmware and still have the Hardan Kardon speakers?

Hi,
If you have s-off rooted phone, why on earth do you want OTA?
A custom ROM should have the OTA function switched off.
It will only mess up your phone by mixing HTC updates with custom ROM updates.
Anything released by HTC will soon be incorporated into custom ROMS.
If you want OTA updates, then s-on and do it.

A lot of people dont load a custom rom after s-off. They have most likely run the Revolutionary tool to root then just stick with stock in which case OTA updates will keep prompting.
As previous post says you cannot update OTA if a custom recovery has been flashed. Go to the Sensation Android Development section and search for a pre-rooted version, download, copy to SD card and flash in recovery.
Does anyone have this software version on their device?
Software Version: 1.63.531.2 710RD.....is that normal?
I have that same version. It's "normal" if you updated to the most recent build that T-Mobile stopped the OTA for. The next OTA update starts April 9th I believe.
R u sure about that?

Yes, I'm running that now, rooted and with some of the bloatware deleted. That is the latest released T-Mobile ROM for the MT4GS.
R u sure about another update on the 9th?
The OTA seems to have started rolling out early,.... many have been able to DL it today. And even the OTA ROM has the 71 ORD at the end of the version, so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
So since there is an update today there will not be one on the 9th?

No, there won't be another one on the 9th. Today's is just the update that was supposed to start on the 9th:

just grab a ClockworkMod recovery image, here is one place you can get it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17384145&postcount=7
then fastboot flash it the same way you flashed your unlock_code.bin to unlock the bootloader. then you can boot into recovery and flash either superuser or the ROM of your choice.
keep in mind that if you flash a ROM, you may have to refer here:

You have the latest and greatest software which means there may not be a method that works for you yet. You're locked for the time being. Juopunutbear might work, though I've never tried it.

Unlock the bootloader through the htcdev website, follow the root guides afterwards yet remain stock, then try juopunutbear.

Hi
I have a sensation xe. I rooted it before upgrading it to ICS (before is GB).
I upgraded it by flashing official ics rom due to I previously installed clockworkmod recovery which stop me from normal way of upgrade.
After upgrade everything's fine, but superuser and clockworkmod gone.
When I install superuser it says binary not found. but I checked my bootloader it says S-OFF.
What should I do?
Android - 4.0.3
Software number - 3.32.401.105
Hboot - 1.27.0000
Radio - 11.22.3504.07_M
Nevermind.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
I don't know what is that, I think not.
I flashed it using RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_251961_signed.exe
If you find it locked you have to unlock first with htcdev.com but many user won't recommend it but at this time I think it the only way to unlock the bootloader, install the custom recovery(CWM) and install the superuser(root the phone).
You can get the details on this post.
But I already have it rooted before upgrade. I thought it will remain rooted? coz my bootloader shown S-OFF
OK, you have S-off. I guess you should be able to flash Revolutionary firmware from Boot loader, then use fast boot to flash the recovery, then flash root from the recovery you installed earlier and voila.

Or, flash a firmware that contains recovery and then flash super user (just make sure its the correct firmware.) (I don't remember exactly where I seen this firmware, but I'm sure I have. Maybe here or somewhere else)

If you are S-Off you can root it again (because you flashed a RUU you lost root)
1) need to have a custom recovery (CWN or 4EXT). There is a nice tool to instal 4ext recovery HERE or download this PG58IMG. Just put it in your sd card and flash it from bootloader.
2) Then Download and install from custom recovery the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Done!

They don't recommend it because it doesn't unlock the bootloader completely. Read more and please don't recommend it, it's incorrect. His bootloader is already unlocked, hence he is s off. As already mentioned he needs to root and install Recovery.

Correct. By revolutionary you install CWM and then you can switch to 4ext. same as I did but in his case he doesn't need to use Revolutionary because already unlocked and s-Offed (and also because Revolutionary doesn't support Hboot 1.27). He needs just to install a custom recovery by a PG58IMG and superuser to get root again.
If the. Hboot is the issue why not just get an older one, put it in a zip called pjwhatever.zip (not sure I own a wildfire) and then just put into bootloader and flash it. He has s-off like.??

Hboot has nothing to do. The OP wants just root the phone again after upgrade to ICS.
Also, I think we are hitchhiking the thread with OT postings.
That said, this is my last post here.
For the OP: Follow instructions few posts above and good luck

I assume once you root, you can do the flashing with flashify?
Also, anyone know if this all works with the new update that went out?
I recently got twrp and root on my phone. at least it SAYS that I am rooted, but I am still unable to uninstall system apps that are unwanted. I am able to get into recovery and installed SU through the recovery. Says that installation of SU was successful so I went and fixed permissions. but still no love on getting rid of all this bloatware. any help would be greatly appreciated.
System has a write protection. You can skip this with S-off or a modded kernel.
But i'm not sure if there is a kernel that does the job for cricket One SV.
So S-off is your best solution.
