[Q] Downloading from google services dont work - General Questions and Answers

I have two devices Xperia E (DS) - (Xboost room, or something like that -> ICS) and Galaxy Tab 4 (new v4.4.2 [Kitkat?]) and in home network (WiFi) i cant download anything from google services like Google Play (updates) and from Google Drive (pics - but lol i can preview them, also i can search for apps in google play). Google Drive works without issues on my PC in same network.
Also i saw one of webpages dont load on Tab4 (its not google.com xD)
On Tab4 i got "error 495" but unlike most of time uncle google couldnt help at all
what i tried:
-change encryption type on wifi (its not this),
-turning off DDoS protection on wifi router (nope)
- delete cache, data, account on both devices (nope) and more something like this one
-Date/time stuff
Its my router issue - i guess right?
but what it can be? locked UPnP?
to unlock UPnP i need to reset router but i kinda dont want to do it (forgot password for it - messed a bit with too hard password) but i can connect to 2nd router with home network (WiFi) settings
everything works on 4G for sure on both devices.
@edit: VPNs on 80 and 53 ports dont help at all too @edit2: ok via hotspot shield it works fine but not via OpenVPN+vpnbook (dunno why a year ago it worked fine at least on PC xD) but still it would be awesome to get fix

Android : Apps not connecting via Wifi

Hi All,
I am a first time Android user (Galaxy S II),switched over from Symbian.
The apps on my phone which require data connection such as Gtalk, Gmail , Android Market, etc are not able to connect via Wifi.
But the stock phone browser works fine on wifi, no problems over there,I am able to surf the web. But when it comes to apps, they do not connect/sync over wifi.
If I disable wifi and use GPRS, apps connect to the internet, and sync in the background. But as soon as I enable wifi apps stop syncing / connectingot he internet.
GPRS plans are expensive and slow compared to my wifi. I want to use wifi to connect the apps also.
How do I do that, is there a setting which I need to enable.
I have to use a proxy server to connect to the wifi netwok, is that the reason the apps are not working. If yes, what is the solution, please help ??????
i have never had this happen but recently my wifi has stopped working all together it just keeps scanning constantly
I had the same problem as the OP. Fixed by setting my time and date manually.

This *could* very plausibly be the problem.
I know on iPhones, our university's network requires proxy settings. You put in proxy settings centrally, but only some software like safari will work. Most apps jus don't realize they need to go through the proxy.
I'd imagine it'd be more or less the same for android apps.
Have you tried to connect with static IP?
setup the correct time and date and time zone. I noticed that my mod got wrong the cities/GMT by +1h.

Unable to access the internet via WiFi connection

Please help! My R7 plus F cannot access the internet again thru WiFi connection. This is not the first time ( I guess 3rd or 4th), but it now lasted for 4 straight days (and counting). I am very sure that our connection has no problem because I'm using it in my laptop, and I also already refreshed my router, my Oppo unit and even made a factory reset (which was advised by their customer service agent) but nothing worked. :crying::crying::crying:
I have not installed apps that would control my internet like HotSpot Shield or Antivirus. Hope someone could figure this out.
I don't want to bring it to the Service Center (it would take about a minimum of two weeks) aside from I don't have an extra phone. Thank you so much to all who would take time to help. God bless!

What exactly do you mean it cannot access Internet, are you saying that it cannot locate/scan WiFi connections or are you saying that you are unable to connect to available WiFi networks.
If it is the former, I was able to fix my problem by installing the latest OTA update/Color OS ROM. The latter I have yet to encounted
Oh..sorry for not giving clear details. My unit can do both, scan and connect to WiFi. But once it is connected to our network at home, the apps and browsers cannot access/use that connection. The browsers and playstore shows error, the Facebook app says "cannot connect right now" and the rest of the apps do tge same.
Though I haven't tried it again with other networks this time.

Galaxy S6 Suddenly Unable to Download From Play Store and Unable to Sync Contacts

Testing and Troubleshooting
>Cleared Play Store Cache and Data - Yes
>Cleared Play Services Cache and Data - Yes
>Removed Account and Added Account Again - Yes
>Tried another Google Account on the Play Store - Yes
>Factory Reset Phone - Yes
>Factory Reset Home Router - Yes
>Correct Time and Date - Yes
>Correct Time and Date on Router - Yes
>Start Download from Web browser Play Store on PC
>Tested on both band networks, and tried with each one disabled
>Used both Google DNS (8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4) and ISP DNS
>Disabled any adblocking services I had (PiHole)
>Notes
>Play Store works on Mobile Network
>Play Store and Sync works on other WIFIs (Both Home WIFIs and Mobile Hotspots)
>Play Store and Sync works on Home WIFI (Problem WIFI) when connected to PIA VPN
>Play Store and Sync works for 3 other Android Devices on the Same WIFI network
>Play Store Search function works
>Also note: It appears the downloads DO in fact download, but it sits on Downloading for a long time. And it doesnst change to show download Speed or Progress, however I haven't seen this as I havent stared at the phone for the entire time watching
Home Network
>VDSL @50mbps
>Download speed is around 4 Megabytes to 5 Megabytes per second.
>Using both 5ghz and 2.4ghz on Router (Set to appropriate region)
Now, heres the story. We have Wifi on our Home router, like most routers, and this Wifi worked with all my Android devices (including the problem device) for the last few months.
A few weeks ago the Galaxy stopped being able to Update or Download apps from the Play Store. (Not entirely correct, it seems to still download some apps, however this takes upwards of 10-15 minutes just for a small (10-20mb app)
Following the usual troubleshooting, I have tried everything listed above.
3 other Android devices work without issue. I have factory reset my router again today. And yet it still doesnt work.
Normally I'd assume a router issue, but its strange that all other android devices can download without issue.
However assuming a phone issue, a Factory Reset should correct that too.
So, are there any DNS/ARP files that aren't changed? Or am I looking in the wrong place? Any help would really be appreciated.
Im at a roadblock here.

ERR_EMTPY_RESPONSE for ONE site one ONE Phone vie ONE Router

OK, so my phone is a Galaxy A3 2015, running stock MM, the site is the UK Huffpost site. (m.huffpost.com/uk)
If I clear all the Chrome data it works once. Then fauils with ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE. If I load any other browser, it too wil work once (without having to clear Chrome data) then fail.
This is ONLY on my home network using a TP-Link Archer C2 router - Mobile network and other routers are fine
If I use any other device on this router it too is fine.
What is going on? What "data" am I celaring in Chrome on the phone that makes it work again for other browsers (if this was a PC I would flush my DNS, but I don't think that is it here)
Any ideas?

Question Family link [TB-J617F]

Hi all,
I've been trying to get family link working as my daughter uses this tablet. When trying to add her account the setup gets stuck in an endless loop never competing. Having read various threads from other devices, I think it's probably something to do with play services not having certain permissions. I would consider unlocking, installing twrp, magisk etc if required to fix, but I don't want to loose widevine.
The long and short is I can't use her account on the device at all as she's part of the family group - her account won't work at all without family link.
I wondered if anyone here had either tried this, or come across other odd behaviours relating to play services?
I'm running the Chinese ROM ziu 13.
Appreciate any thoughts.
Cheers Matt
Few things I have tried (and eventually got it to work) across 2x Lenovo P11 Plus (J616F)'s:
1st one was a factory reset and then instead of using my home WiFi, setup the device using a 4G hotspot from my phone. (Not a clue why, but my Home Wifi (Unifi Access Points) takes upwards of 2 minutes to get internet with the Lenovo's, even though all other devices are fine).
Second method:
factory reset and setup the device as "Offline" (i.e. dont input any WiFi details, button down bottom right saying "Setup as Offline")
Once gone through initial steps, connect to your WiFi, give it 10 minutes to update a few bits.
Open Play Store (DO NOT SIGN IN!), and press the three dots at the top right and goto updates
Let the device update all apps
When complete, try adding the childs Google Account (again, if this fails, try using a 4G hotspot from another device (disabling Wifi on that device first))
Hope that helps
Ok, that sounds pretty strange but I might give it a go. I just set her up a new Google account as nothing I could do could get the old one logged in. Thanks for your advice.
I suspect your unifi is running a shared ssid and your 5ghz is on an inaccessible band, are you always connecting at 2.4ghz? I had to change the 5g band on mine to even see it!

Only have my 5Ghz on normal bands (i.e. non DFS), even tried a separate 2.4Ghz Guest network, disabled WPA3, all to no avail. Not got a clue what caused it, my ISP doesn't block anything either (Zen UK)
Any other device was fine over WiFi (have setup much older Samsung tablets, newer kids phones) all with Family Link, it was just the Lenovo's that was stuck in a loop saying I needed to remove and re-add the account.
Just couldn't figure it out, and had already spent a few hours trying. Hoped the newest firmware would fix, but that didn't help either.
Hope it helps and good luck
Just playing around on the tablet and it appears that it struggles with IPv6 - could be that my hotspot is IPv4 only. Could be related to the loop it gets stuck in?
Not sure why it doesn't like IPv6 though as all other devices are fine with it...
I've just gone through full reset, then tried using 4g hotspot as you suggested. I have to use Lenovo app centre to get play store, then use play store with no login to update. That all works fine. Then add my daughters account. Then I get stuck in the same loop of not being able to register the device with family link.
In my case, I don't think this relates to internet access, I think there's something going wrong with the software / permissions on the device. It's genuinely very frustrating as I imagine it's probably not terribly difficult for the Lenovo Devs to fix.
