OPO or N7 LTE? What would you do in my position? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Background:
1. My Nexus 4 has occasional ghost touching issues.
2. I got OPO invite and ordered one ($350).
3. My Nexus 7 has a cracked screen, which disabled 1/6th of touchscreen.
4. I purchased a display model 2013 Nexus 7 LTE for $200
5 I use Hangouts GV calling and don't use cell minutes.
6. I am switching from TMO $30 plan to Red Pocket 512MB $5 plan.
What would you do?
1. Use both
2. Sell OPO
3. Sell N7
4. other

Keep the OPO and sell the Nexus. With a OnePlus One, a Nexus 7 is rendered obsolete in my opinion.

Note 3 for IPhone 4 + Nexus 7 (2013)

Hi everyone, i've the opportunity to get a 1 month old Note 3 for my three years old IPhone 4 32GB plus my 4 month old Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB wifi.
The Note 3 is good as new, his owner didn't like it cause it's too big for his needs and asked me if i want to trade my small phone plus tablet for his phablet.
My iPhone is still a great phone. It's comfortable in the pocket thanks to his size, the battery still gets me to the end of the day, has the best store for apps and with the jailbreak i can tweak it as i want. The nexus 7 is amazing and has a great community support on xda.
So i'm struggling, i really like the Note 3 and i'm intrigued by the S-Pen for productivity. On the other hand i'm so used to my actual configuration and i have no issue with anything i do.
So what do you guys think? Go for the chance or stay with the old? Is the Note 3 rally worth it?
Thanks
Is it the Snapdragon version or the Exynos version?
I think you should go for the deal. iPhone 4 is old and I tried one which was running iOS 7 and it was terrible and extremely laggy!
Nexus 7 on the other hand is not so pricey so trading it for a costly Note 3 seems to be a good deal.
Note 3 is worth the trade IMO.

That's not how you should estimate things - you should look in 2-3 places on the going rate of each of your devices vs. the rate of a pre-owned Note 3.
Looking for 1 minute on swappa (which might not be relevant at all for you own region) shows around 235$ for iphone 32gb unlocked and around 200$ for Nexus 7 wifi vs over 500$ for a REAL 32GB Note 3. Also you should consider if the Note 3 is available at a highly discounted price from your carrier.
But word of advice on the Note 3 - if you do not have experience on that you will NOT be able to tell "at the first sight' that a high-end fake is not the real thing, so extra care with unknown sellers and offers that are too good to be true!

What to do with a damaged Nexus 5

Hi,
My girlfriend recently got a Nexus 5 on a $50/month plan to replace her Samsung Galaxy Note 2 where she broke the LCD screen for the second time. I helped her look for a more solid phone case and ordered a Ballistic shell gel case for $30. Unfortunately she dropped her Nexus 5 yesterday before the case arrived, and now she's very distraught that she dropped her shiny new phone. Fortunately only the plastic got damaged, but to her the phone is not the same anymore.
I've read that you have to replace the LCD if you want to replace the plastic case, which is obviously not worth the cost. Maybe instead she can sell the phone on Ebay and get a new one to use with her plan from the Google Play store? For some reason I'm not quite seeing myself, the Nexus 5 is selling for pretty high prices on Ebay, so maybe she can replace her nexus 5 at a reasonable cost.
Please advise
sell the N5 and get her a smaller phone , obviously she can't handle big ones
It won't sell for a high price cause it's retail price is already low.

When I go on Ebay I see many offers where people are bidding $300 for a used Nexus 5 with 16 GB, it makes me wonder...
Bidders are probably from countries that can't get the phone officially.

Just put a case on it and you'll never know the plastic got damaged.

Depending how bad it is, you'll probably still get a few hundred dollars for it. Buy another one from Google or Swappa, and make sure to get it in a case before she even touches it.
Sell the phone in India and you will actually get more price for it than what you paid
Here it's being sold for Rs.33000 ($550)... So You can put it up for $400-450 or something and also get the carrier lock removed by a local shop,,,

Ohh so even if you buy the n5 on a contract from a carrier, it isn't?? Didn't know that! :cyclops:
None of the GSM Nexus handsets were ever locked.

I agree with the first reply (get her a smaller phone), get her a moto g or something. I can understand Note 2 since its really big, but nexus 5? What the hell is she doing with her phone? Ebay and swappa are both useless if you ask me, post it on your facebook or something and try to sell it to someone you know.
I'd recommend sticking the Nexus 5 on eBay, you'll get a decent amount for it and you can replace it with a smaller device which is less likely to be dropped.

Nexus 5 discount once Nexus 6 close?

The Nexus 4 dropped $100 new from Play store in late August 2013, 10 months after the late October 2012 formal announcement.
The Nexus 5 announced late October 2013... so it's price drop is....?
If Nexus 6 is announced 5 months from now then Nexus 5 drops to $299 for 32GB model in late August?

possibly. the gnex also dropped in price when the n4 was about to be released. but the nexus before that, didnt drop in price. so, possibly, or maybe not. but for sure no one here will be able to answer that, as only google knows.
In the playstore they dropped the price of the HTC one(last years model) and the Sony ultra z.

Reminds me of the Nexus 10 replacement, never happened on the anniversary, nor 6 months after that...
I would say though the Nexus 5 is due a price drop, it began happening with the Nexus 10, new ones comining up at about 60%-70% of the price on Play store. I've not seen that sort of price drop for Nexus 5.
Nexus line supposedly being replaced with the "silver" program. Search for it on Androidcentral.

Maybe
It may drop the price but evleaks said that there is no nexus 6, it's a rumor but we can't know about what is going to happen
If there will be a nexus 6 now we will have to go to carriers and beg them to give us a two year contract unless its T-Mobile then same ol same ol so we can get a stock android device

Tiny discount but given the uncertainty about the follow-on, I bought one.
Used "mint" ones sell for about $340, which is oddly a high % of new given they're in stock.

I always buy with a view to selling. Fewer Reds bought as its newer so ~ 1 yea from now my "mint" N5 will have fewer sellers to compete with.
My N5 $385 new 32gb goes with my N7 2013 32gb (refurbished $170) and my N10 32gb (refurbished $278).
What also made me pull the trigger is I spent a lot of time yesterday having to work stood up and moving on my N4 and just don't want a bigger than that form factor in my hand but do need fast cpu and memory, just a little taller than my N4 is all I need. These other high-spec are losing the plot on hand size. If I want a bigger screen I just bluetooth tether my N7 and use it two-handed.

nexus 5 in 2015

hi
is the nexus 5 still a good phone in 2015? wish would you get the nexus 5? or nexus 5x?
there a lot of good deals on swppa right now for around $150 so i was wanting to no if the nexus 5 is still good for 2015? this would be uesd has my back up phone
Why not, it was good then, and is good now, at that price for a backup phone, sure. There are a lot of people that would still buy it as a daily driver too.
Just ordered a 5 yesterday for $200 new. The 5X is past my size threshold.
I wouldn't get it as a daily driver now, but its a decent backup phone for sure.

Not everyone can pay the price of a new flagship device, but purchasing a used Nexus 5 for the price of a new mid-level device (e.g any non flagship Samsung) I'm using as my daily driver and I'm totally satisfied.
The N5 can still be used a daily driver so no problem for a backup phone.
If you stay on stock roms, you should note that Marshmallow is probably the last official update for hammerhead.
Use a N5 every day and my wife, a N4, every day too.
very good phones for the price.
(with stock rom)
I use it daily with now CM13Caf and im pretty satisfied with it..So why not =)
Owned 2 new Nexus 5 since new (2 years old) and still in near new/mint conditions with screen protector & bumper guard, updated to MM 6.0.1 and on Chroma's latest build - loved the camera and in daily use, most importantly, for voice calling & browsing, running Apps - it's a pure Nexus & continued to be supported, got the extra LTE band 3 & 8 unlocked for use traveling abroad, with an external USB power bank so never out of juice when unable to quickly charge on the go. I don't chase newer flapship smartphones from other makers just to show hardware spec's - only feature that I wish LG/Google have is the integrated WiFi calling (like that on my "backup" jailbroken iphone 5S on iOS 9.0.2)
Exposed w. XHangouts allowing customized incoming voice call ringtone on the N5, instead of default GV ringtone - as I use my GV number over my cellular MTN (T-Mobile), except for the "inner" circle of families & close friends - easier to not miss calls abroad with WiFi calling & slower but free roaming data.
Been looking at the newest Nexus 5X but I am not in a hurry to upgrade even when they're running the Black Friday online sales - figured that the Nexus 5 still have at least another year of solid use ahead, before I switch out to something else & I will probably keep it as a backup (unless I change my mind & sell it sooner & use the funds to trade-up to offset the upgrade cost)
For OP & others, I see some good, near mint N5 going for as low as $150 on eBay or Swappa - some of the brand new in-box devices by other makers are still "waiting" for their factory MM rom to roll out. Meanwhile, there are still plenty of ROM development with the Nexus 5 - and, absolutely no bloatware by the carriers.
Still good for even 2016. Got one new for $190 on eBay and I use it as my main phone. Would love to see a nexus just like the 5 with upgraded specs and better build. I've used this one for about 2 weeks and I just kept wondering why I hadn't seen it earlier lol

Been using nexus 5 as my daily driver till now and i'm really satisfied with it... Really worth the price....

Is the upgrade worth it?

So im thinking abut upgrading to the nexus 5x or 6p. However im very undecided at the moment. I ordered the 5X (32gb) and twenty minutes later canceled the order and went with the 6p (64gb aluminum). Now after looking through the nexus 6p forums i canceled that order as well.
From what i have read the nexus 5x lags and and nexus 6p has some display issues and reception issues.
and i really don't want to deal with either of those things. My nexus 5 has been great for the two years that i have owned it , i did have issues with the power button but that was fixed by LG.
So i don't know what to do , do i wait or just say forget it and order the Nexus 6p which would seem like a true upgrade. The phablet size and issues listed above are my main concerns lol
There are several reasons why I still own a Nexus 5. IMO it's not worth the upgrade until Snapdragon 820 and an acceptable pricing policy (euro zone).
My Nexus 5 has the perfect screen size, is fast and is running the latest available Android version.
QED
I would get / keep the nexus 6 2014.. It's a beast phone that I use everyday.. Runs stock 6.0.1 marshmallow.. And is fast as the 6p when first nothing installed... Snapdragon 810 for 2.7ghz Quad Core so no lag.. And 3gb ram for multitasking... And 3450ish mAH for all day heavy usage.. The new ones are priced really high. But the nexus 6 its 300 rn.. So not a good idea to upgrade rn bro
Thanks for the replys, I decide to stick with my nexus 5 for a bit longer. As tempting as the pricing is $499 for 64gb 6p and 379$ for the 32gb 5x.. Don't want to give or sell my nexus 5, and feel like it would be a waste to have it as a backup phone just yet. Lol

I just purchased a used Nexus 5 and I'm totally satisfied with both the aesthetics and performance. It is still a versatile phone in 2015, and for the price of a used unit, it is much better than most mid-range devices in the same price range. Also I love the updates and the ton of custom roms to play with
