[Q] OPO on T-Mobile - cannot connect to network: need help - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone:
I had bought a sandstone OPO phone more than 1 month ago. Popped in a T-Mobile SIM card (verified), and it would not connect to the network.
The APN settings for T-Mobile would not register either for the same reason.
I also popped in another verified T-Mobile SIM card, and same results.
Went to 2 T-mobile stores, same results.
Ironically, the error message says: "Your SIM card doesn't allow connection to this network".
I checked the IMEI number, it is not recognized by T-Mobile.
Spent two weeks with OPO trying to troubleshoot (sorry, rant here - their Customer Service sux - all I got out of 2 weeks is 1 email pointing to their T-mobile forum posting which I had already looked at,
and 1 email telling me how to "hard reboot").
Now in my 5th week, and reaching the "give me my money back" stage already.
So, last ditch effort here.
I really like the phone, but this is beyond ridiculous. I just spent 2 weeks "waiting" for them to send me the "shipping number" for the RMA. Already sent them emails, request, whatever
you name it. Actually pestered them into giving me 3 Support IDS.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

How many other sim cards have you tried in the phone. since its a "world" phone per se. I understand that its needed to be used on T-Mobile but go to other sim based carriers and just try their cards out like AT&T
If that dont work have you tried to root and flash another radio?
Have you tried to upgrade the software since you got it which will give you an updated radio?

This is exactly what I'm worried when my phone arrives. I'm on T-Mobile as well but I'm using an old phone with a regular sim card. I'm afraid when I activate a new micro sim card that I will have issues with the network especially with lte

I am on T-Mobile and I have 3 other friends on T-Mobile with the phone and there was no issues at all. More than enough bands to fulfill your T-Mobile needs

Thank you for your post.
I did not try other carriers yet. I will not even bother since the T-mobile store's other SIM cards did not work, and I'm already on a 2-year contract.
I did not consider upgrading the software due to "fear" of warranty issues. I will try in a few hours.
Any suggestions/advice, or is it a routine "download update, flash into phone, and run update" procedure?

warranty issues. my friend I think you need to google what you can do to an OPO and still be under warranty. I think you will be quite surprised. Also not sure why you would think upgrading the firmware that was put out by OPO themselves be something to void your warranty

I once have this problem when I first got my Nexus 4. It turns out my sim is too old and the phone is having problem reading it. It was solved once I get a new sim from t-mobile. If you already have a contract with them, then it should be free for you to request a new sim from them otherwise it would be 10$ per sim.

Hahaha, thanks for the laugh. :cyclops:
At this point, given the customer service at OPO, I'm already tempted to brick it just to see if it still works, lol.
First time getting a phone outside the major names, so yes. Spoiled by the customer service, so I did not realize I needed
to treat the OPO like a home-made PC with parts from FRYs.
BTW - you suggested upgrading the sw. Which version of Cyanogen do you recommend?
Many thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion.
However, the current SIM cards I have work on every T-Mobile phone. The 2 stores I visited even pulled out a stock S5, both worked fine.
So the SIM card is not the issue here.

Make sure you upgrade the firmware to 11S build XNPH33R before giving up. FWIW, I activated on T-Mobile without issue. I was on XNPH25R when I activated.

Thanks for the advice! I was just checking on Cyanogen's site and stumbled upon it. Will do so in a few hours when I get home.

No need to check the site if you have wifi where ever you are at just check for updates. This is what I was asking you in my first set of posts.

Hello:
Originally 22r, updated via wifi to 25. Would not update any further.
Still the same error message.
I tried with two working T-Mobile SIM cards.
Any other suggestions? Shall I force-update 33?

Anyone had this issue as well?

It's your sim. Go to the store and ask for a new one. Had that issue with other phones before.

Update:
1) Did a factory reset. Wiped everything.
2) Incrementally updated to 33R (latest CyMod update).
3) I have 2 SIM cards that work in a T-Mobile stock S5. Popped both of them after the 33R update.
Same issue, same error message.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Where did you buy your OPO? Chinese version or through the OPO international store from their main website? It matters, because the chinese version doesn't work on TMO.

[Q] Serious problem with g2x, no service baseband problem?

I seriously need help with this. My phone info is this
LG-P999
Android 2.3.3 stock
Baseband: M6600A-SCAUTNZ-2.0.9720T 1[JUL 15 2011 10:00:00]MP;TRULGE_08.09.02R_MDM.
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
The phone has all the information about the carrier but does not connect to the network, it even recognizes a network with -89dbm but does not connect.
I don't know what's happening. When you start the wifi calling app it works but can't sustain a connection on its own. I need your phones baseband info to compare. Also i noticed on the hidden menu accessible by dialing 1809*#999# when you go to the modem setting the following menus says:
QCRIL/Android log on/off: not implemented yet (RIL)
PDP Setting: not implemented yet (RIL)
and so on with the others. I need help from people with working g2x to check this and compare the values, cause i don't know what to do. I have flashed several roms eve the stock, and i have noticed that when i flash the v10f and connect the phone to the computer the lg tool recognizes the phone as if it had the v21e leaving me without the possibility to upgrade the software, I think it is because of the baseband on the phone. I sincerely ask for your help on this. Thank you
I'd try requesting a replacement, or trying the Update method for refurbs.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
Well i have tried all existing methods and nothing, cause the lg tools recognizes the actual phone model which is p999dw and wont let me upgrade because of the baseband version, and as for a replacement this is a phone o got from craigslist.

You seem to have the most current version, which makes me wonder about your SIM card. Perhaps you need a new one if it is an older SIM or possibly damaged.
Well My sim card is only 2 months old, it came with my htc sensation, whe I put it on the sensation works but not on the G2x i have also tried it on my father's hd2 and also works, Thank you all for your response, I feel very lucky to be an XDA member.
I will go to T-mobile tomorrow to get another sim and test.
You try a hard reset yet?
If not just hold the volume up rocker and power button for like 10 seconds and it will reboot.
Today i got a new sim card and nothing, still the same keep saying no service, when i try to call says not registered on the network
Did you ever get this issue resolved I am having the same problem...exactly, got a different sim and now I want to try to re-flash the base band if possible? Does anyone know of this issue and any way to fix without dealing with T-mobile?
Unfortunately I had this and I tried everything, went to a T-Mobile rep and they tried trouble shooting, switching sims, hard reset, I even changed roms, went back to stock froyo and gingerbread and still nothing. I'm having a new G2X replacement shipped to me free of charge from T-Mobile already. Go to your T-mobile rep and ask him to fix it (he will try and fail and will open a case with you) then if you have warranty you can get a replacement G2x.

I purchased my phone from some guy on Amazon, just try to go to a T-Mobile rep and don't tell them you purchased it off someone else even though they might be able to check.
Dial *#*#4535#*#* on your phone and give us screenshots of the phone status. Maybe that can give a clue as to what is going on. Scroll past your IMEI and do a screenshot (power and home) then scroll down to mid screen do another screenshot and then scroll all the way down and do a third screenshot. Post them here and maybe we can figure out what is going on. Did you make sure you have the correct RIL also? Some people with your issue have flashed CM7 nightly and then flashed back to another rom and this issue has gone away.
jboxer:
Will try...after a reboot or after I get the T-Mobile to load up again because that just gets me to the dialer again. I am in the process of making a video on Youtube and see if it helps resolve the issue...?? I SCREAM SANDWICH where are you...LOL!!
Do you have a tmo sim? U need to get the phone unlocked if u dont
Yes I do have a Tmo sim...and service.

T-Mobile is also now blocking IMEIs from the network. So that is also a possibility, especially when the phone is showing that it recognizes the network, but won't connect.
I think the only way T-Mobile will block the IMEI is if someone used installments to get the phone, and then the account canceled before the first payment.

No..the phone did work when I tested it. It was not rooted or unlocked. It worked fine...all of a sudden it stopped? I can use any other carrier card and it will work flawlessly. I have a Straight Talk card and can plug it in and no problems..only the data is 2g(Edge) speed on the G2x. Calls and MMS and it shows AT&T as the carrier while the sim from Straight Talk is in. Only the T-Mobile one has an issue. I had the phone for more than 3 months without any problems. I don't think I got took if there weren't any apparent red flags at time of purchase. I took the sim from my old phone at time of purchase and said I want to check it out first and the previous owner agreed. I think the issue is with T-Mobile and the way their equipment works with LG G2x. I am posting a video on YouTube in the next few days to let people see what happens with different scenarios.

If the phone is working with Straight Talk (AT&T) and not T-Mobile then I do believe it is a blocked IMEI issue. The person that sold it to you probably stopped paying their bill. T-Mobile doesn't block the IMEI until they send the account to collection, which takes about three months or so. You can probably call TMO and ask them to check the IMEI and see if they blocked it (if the CSRs can check the blacklist database). This blocking of the IMEI is specific to T-Mobile only so it would not affect AT&T's network or using the phone on any other carrier in the world.
jboxer: Will check on that issue...thanks jboxer

Check under phone info and see what your baseband version is.
There is a dumb little problem that I've seen pop up a few times where the IMEI goes missing and the baseband number with it... then this happens...
If the sim card isnt being read at all, as in (please insert sim), shouldnt matter with imei as imei has nothing to do with service. Even with a null/ 000000000 imei, calling, texting, data all works. Its probably your sim card tray.
If your sim card is read, but just no bars, etc, then try reflashing and factory resetting.

I had the same problem a month ago, and found a good handful of threads on it. Most of those threads also reported missing base band and imei. I resolved it by flashing back to 100% stock and starting over. Not saying it'll fix you for sure but it worked for me.

Had a similar issue a few months ago, flashed a different ROM and it went away. Not sure is it was a coincidence but recently upgraded to stock KJ6, everything was fine for a few days then all of a sudden no T-Mobile network/ Manually logged on, crappy signal, white 4G icon, calls dropping, I can hear caller, they can't hear me etc... Figured the network might be swamped due to Thanksgiving holiday, waited a day but it got even worse. My wife's SGS4G meanwhile continues to have great signal- not a sim issue as I swapped hers in to my phone and it still sucked. Called T-mobile tech support, new phone arrives this Friday. They blamed it on the upgrade to VUVKJ6, I wan't going to argue with them as I didn't have the phone insurance (I do on the new one) and they said that because it happened after the KJ6 upgrade it was on them .... it only cost me $20 for a brand new replacement.
I do have to say that T-Mobile customer service kicks ass.
Try flashing a different rom to see if itll fix the problem. The last resort would be resoldering. Try all other options first.

Thanks for the replies. I tried flashing to 100 percent stock and nothing changes. It doesn't matter what I flash to or how many times I restore factory setting and wipe all user data. I always end up with a phone that doesn't detect the T-mobile sim card or the network. I requested an exchange for 20 dollars since my phone is still under warranty... I hope I will be able to flash to a different ROM next time without the same problem.

I seem to be in the same predicament after flashing KJ6.
Spent the whole day flashing different ROMs, to no avail.
Guess my only option is contacting t-mo, and see if i can get a replacement.
Will they know if i updated through Kies, or Odin?
i'm in the same boat. bought my phone unlocked through amazon two months ago and upgraded to stock KJ6 through Kies when tmo released it. worked fine until two days ago. SIM works in other phones, IMEI number looks good, APN settings look good. Haven't tried switching to other builds because all the threads I've seen here at xda and other forums seem to show that doesn't change anything.
didn't realize how much i liked my phone until i went to the backup motorola zine the last few days. bogus.
Before you send your phone back make sure it is 100 percent stock ROM and not rooted. Also, factory reset and wipe all user data.

Thanks.
I did know all that. Just wasn't sure of they could still tell I didn't do it through Kies.
Anyway, just contacted T-Mobile, and my new phone should be here Monday.
Awesome customer service.
My t-mobile exchange phone arrived and I upgraded to latest GB via Kies and then I flashed Dr. Honks latest kernel and everything works. No network or sim problems.
I am really happy with T-mobile customer service too. My phone arrived only 3 or 4 days after I requested an exchange. No questions asked.
From what I have been reading on the forums, it doesn't matter if the phone was upgraded via kies or flashed via odin. The phone just has to have 100 percent stock
Damn having the same problem,no sim card detected. No baseband,no IMEI.Went stock via Odin, nothing.Went to stock Froyo and still nothing :-(
sgs4g, same problem...only mine im sure is the sim tray. this was a refurbished phone i bought from craigslist, brand new.
stock froyo, gb, rooted ocataine, doesnt matter- every few weeks it would say insert sim..
Now im just gonna call and tell them it happened after the upgrade because it was there faulty phone to begin with.. now how can i go back to perfectly stock? and does that mean i should send it back on froyo or gb?
I've had/am having this problem. I brought my phone to the UK and I had this issue when I tried a new carrier. 3 weeks ago I was able to plug my phone in to the charger and then put it in airplane mode and out and I had no issues until I tried a 3rd carrier today and now the issue is back and my previous fix isn't working. Because I'm not using T-mobile and bought the phone off of a friend I'm hoping I can find a way to fix this without sending in my phone because that really isn't an option.

Glad you found the battery fix, I have stated that fix in a couple of threads, and started a thread called No carrier signal + IMEI problems = Take out your battery, but it has been pushed down like 3 pages cause no one comments on it.

I removed the battery and sim from my phone for 10 min. Put everything back in, booted and everything is working as it should be. Hope this helps.

The link you posted is no good, can you tell me where it was at? Also what are all of the steps to get SIM or IMEI working again just the remove SIM and Battery for 10 Minutes?
There are a lot of people who flash custom ROMS on Telus, Rogers, Wind and T-Mobile who have this problem and if what you are saying works then that needs to go viral. What is strange is that some have the issue same ROM and Phone and others don't it's a hard issue to try an troubleshoot to say the least.
Any more info on this subject would be awesome bro.
Thanks,

[Q] Bought Used 1S, only working on AT&T

Alright so, as the title says, bought it from Craigslist and it currently won't work on T-mo. The guy was on the phone with it before I bought it (saw him) so it obviously does work. Do I have to flash a t-mo radio or can I just factory reset and it'll be fine? I don't really mind not having root at the moment. It's on LeeDrOiD if that helps. Will post any other necessary info.
So you installed a T-Mobile SIM and it said it wasn't an authorized SIM? Or are you trying to connect to T-Mobile with an AT&T SIM? Otherwise it should work fine.

My previous T-mo SIM. So I guess it's unauthorized for the device but I've had the Sim (of course) for years.
Weird. Is it an international One S, or does it say T-Mobile on the front? I've never heard of being able to lock a device to a new carrier...
You could always try the SIM unlock tutorial that's in the development section.

Is the current sim active? It should work but not WiFi calling. Try to go T-Mobile store and grab another sim.

the first thing I would do is head down to a T-Mo store to get a new sim card.
Yes, the SIM is activated. Been using it for about 5 years now, was in my N1, Sensation, and a flip phone for a while. Though I did get it cut for micro-SIM from a cutter (not done by myself). Perhaps it got screwed up? Though in the settings it can still pick up my #. And yup, it has T-Mobile at the top. Alright, I'll swap out the SIM and bump this up if that doesn't work.
More info: It keeps popping up to register with a network, and I select t-mo but it says "unable to register with select carrier".
Good chance it is blacklisted. People sell phones locally and then dont pay their bills on contract or report it lost or stolen and TMobile blacklist the IMEI. I learned my lesson. It happened to me twice over Craigslist. It will only work on ATT if it is. You can call TMobile or go into the store and they can tell you if it is.

I would almost bet that a new sim will solve your problem here. I remember when I got a new phone with T-Mo and still had a 6-7 year old sim card. I put it in the new phone and it would not work due to incompatibility with the new network specs etc. A new sim solved the problem. Let us know how the new sim works.

The specific error I get is "your SIM does not allow a connection to this network." So I don't think it's blacklisted. I'll report back tomorrow whether or not a new sim work/it actually was blacklisted, though.

that happend to me in my tmobile sensation. i bought a T-mob htc sensation 4g and unlocked it to use it in telcel mexico, after some months i decided to change company and put it a movistar simcard, but it didnt read it; the phone was re-locked to telcel in a strange way (i dont know how)
the only thing i did, was to re-use the unlock method for the htc sensation and everything was fine again...
so, try to use the unlock method for the htc one S and check if that helps you

I agree.
Networks have changed a lot in the last few years. A 5-yo sim card is likely to be the cause of the problem.
If the network is just sim-locked you would get an 'Insert unlock code' message [or similar].

Sorry i missed that. I would get a new sim like everyone has suggested.
Update:
Alas, getting a MircoSim did not work. Perhaps it is blacklisted (I tried asking the guy there and he said he couldn't check, ugh). So, For now, I'm going to try to get a refund (guy said he was willing to) or try to trade it on Craigslist for something that will work. Unless someone can send over a quick guide on how to unlock the SIM reader. I tried the one that is posted and I never got the options that should have popped up.

Try this, on dialer hit
*#*#4636#*#*
Choose "Phone information"
Scroll down to Radio, see if it's On or Off.
Maybe pretty with it, turn it off turn it on see if it give you anything
When my One S was blacklisted, it gave me the same error.
You can call or chat online with T-Mobile support, and they'll tell you if it's blacklisted.

Will check tomorrow whether it's truly been blacklisted or not. And I had actually tried the radio thing earlier I was very hopeful that would work.

[Q] Using Nexus 5 with tablet (data-only) sim (on T-Mobile)

I currently have a Nexus 5 (I was previously using it through MetroPCS), however I recently ordered a "Tablet (data-only)" sim card from T-mobile and tried to get it working. At the time, the T-mobile rep told me that it SHOULD work. However, after running around in circles for a few days with them, I've finally found out that it does not work (...YET!).
When I try to get the Nexus 5 to use this SIM card, it just keeps giving me a "Sign into network" notification, and never lets me use any data. (and no amount of signing into my account from my phone has helped)
According to the T-mobile rep, "this SIM card will ONLY work with a tablet". However, this is Android, and there's not much difference between a phone, and a tablet. There must be some kind of setting I can change to get my phone to think it's a tablet, or at least to get it to use this tablet-only sim card!
So I'm wondering what do I have to do to trick my phone into using this data-only sim card?
Things you may need to know:
I'm already rooted
I'm running stock Android 4.4.2
Lastly, because I'm sure people will ask: "Why do you care?, why don't you just get a standard phone-sim card?!?"
So, preemptively, here is my answer: "Because, they're giving me a data-only plan for $10/month! (and $20/month after the first year). AND, if I were to switch to a phone plan, the CHEAPEST they will allow me to have is $50/month, which is HUGE! That's a $40 difference per month!"

this is wrong. they absolutely know that youre using a tablet, and a bunch of other things about your device as soon as it connects to their network. in order for them to let your device use their network, they need this info. and wont let any device connect to their network without the proper info. the network isnt some generic highway of data, its owned by tmobile, and only gives access to it if tmobile allows it.
anyways, i have a question, how much data do they give you for $10 a month?

They give you 1GB of data for $10/month, however it jumps to $20 after the first year. Seems pretty cheap to me.
I'm still holding out hope that there must be some sort of hack, or maybe editing my build.prop or something like that to trick it into believing it's a Nexus 7 or something :-\

na, wont work, build.prop edits. there are other files it reads, not the build.prop. it also creates files in root. which is funny, when you delete them, they reappear within 5 minutes. plus there is stuff in our radios as well, that tmobile reads, that we cant get to.

What about changing the IMEI number? I believe that can be done, and I know when I was talking with a service rep, he was talking about how their system was registering my IMEI number. Maybe that's how they know it's a Nexus 5 and not a tablet? :-\
Also, you mention that 1GB/month for $10/month isn't cheap? (btw it's 1GB for $10, 3GB for $20, 5GB for $30) How do you figure? I know you're saying you can burn through it in a day, I'm sure I could too streaming netflix or something! That isn't the point though. Can you find a cheaper standalone data plan elsewhere? If so, where? I'd love to know
I have found some hope!
After doing further research, I found this article, which supports my IMEI theory.
http://www.cnet.com/news/using-a-tablet-sim-to-turn-a-smartphone-into-a-data-only-device/
In fact, according to the article, if I can find somebody with a 4g enabled tablet, I should hopefully be able to stick my sim card into their device, activate it, then pop the sim card back into my device, and hopefully that will work. (In the article she states that it works with verizon, wont work with at&t, and may, or may not work with T-mobile.)
Sadly, I don't believe I know of anybody with a 4G enabled tablet. Therefore my only option I know of would be to find a way (using root of course), to spoof, or change my IMEI number, which I'm sure should prove to be extremely fun! :silly:
Now I'm off to research that and I'll report back here what I find. :fingers-crossed:
Just go into the store with your sim and pop it into one of their tablets to activate it

That's not a bad idea, thanks!
Although, what I might do, just to be thorough (and if the sales rep is watching me like a hawk, since they might not like me shoving my SIM into the demo unit), is go into one of the stores and instead, write down the IMEI number of one of their tablets (which would be simple to just pick up the tablet, and go to settings>about device>status), and then, make my phone's IMEI number match that. That way I think it's less likely to have problems (it's possible that if the IMEI number changes, that will cause them to turn the service back off).
I dunno, I might try my thing first, and then, when that doesn't work, I'll try the more invasive, sticking my SIM in their tablet. Thanks for the idea
It's finally over!
Ok thank you for trying to help me but I finally resolved this problem.
Previously it was caused by a t-mobile rep having me order a tablet-only sim card for my phone.
I WAS going to try and change my IMEI number to match a tablet because (and I still believe) that would have tricked t-mobile into thinking my phone was a tablet, however, after much digging I have found the following which A: suits my needs, and B: no longer requires any trickery
I'm going with the T-mobile prepaid $30 unlimited text and data plan. With that you get:
100 minutes (10 cents a minute thereafter)
Unlimited Text
5GB of data, thereafter they throttle you, just like anybody else does
all for $30 bucks a month. BUT, you have to have a phone that you own, it can't be something under contract etc.
It is WAY more data than I need, but it's the cheapest they offer so I'll take it!
I should note: you MUST get your SIM card from Walmart if you're going with this plan, just FYI
Thanks again for trying to help me.

I was also duped by a tmobile sales person. Telling me a data only sim card will work on a phone. Alot of hassle and back and forth with customer support, and advanced tech support, i found that it cant work. not sure why tmobile doesnt allow this. I only wanted data on my note 3 that i gave to my kids after i got a one plus one. I have not tried putting the sim card inside a tablet to activate it then putting back in mine. Kinda erks me that tmobile reps are not properly trained and that i cant just pop the data only sim into a phone

Unlock note 8 does not support LTE on AT&T

Hello,
Can you guys who have the unlock note 8 and on AT&T network confirm that it does not support LTE?
I saw a review on Best Buy stating that he could not get it to work after numerous call to tech, and AT&T suggested they buy the AT&T version and unlock it.
I just bought the unlock version from Samsung and planning on using it on AT&T, I tether a lot in my car and if LTE is not available I will probably return it.
I am not going to paid almost $1000 for a phone that does not support 4G LTE

Exactly. Weird how it's not working. I had an unlocked version of the S8+ on AT&T which worked on the LTE+ network.

I have the factory unlocked version and I have LTE. Make sure when you activate your note they use and new sim.

Well, I am in the same boat as you. I bought unlocked directly from Samsung and put my AT&T sim from my AT&T branded S7 edge in thinking that it will just work. First I didn't even have data so I changed the APN and got data but only H+ speed at best. I did chat online at AT&T and the first time the tech said that I needed a new sim and I can get a free one at a local AT&T store. I reverted the phone back to stock without data connection and went to my local AT&T store. I told the guy there what the tech said and he took my phone and just mucked around with it and got data connection but only H+. He said it is probably the best this phone can do. I am like ??? But I didn't argue with him and left. I again went on chat at AT&T website and the tech did something on her end and eventually open a case for me. I waited 2 days and finally got an email saying that it is the area that I am in and that would be the best signal I will get. Again what the ????. I had LTE all along in the past at the same place, home. So after 2 more days, I again did chat with AT&T and this tech basically said I needed a new sim and he will send one to me for free. So now I am waiting for the new sim and hopefully with the new sim, I can register the sim with my IMEI and get LTE back. You should probably save all this trouble and ask for a new sim to start with. Good luck.

all Verizon phones are unlocked without the bootloader being able to be unlocked but if your flashing carrier firmware you can go from any carrier without voiding warranties and messing your phone up. The unlocked one from samsung just comes without the bloatware and from what ive read its still bootloader locked as well because of the snapdragon chipset in it. But if you put the att rom on it you wont have a issue and will get all the features including the lte enhanced services and all

I received my phone last week and I was also having LTE problem. At first it was no service, then after some apn configs I was getting H, and H+ speeds. I had talked to multiple ATT reps and most said I would have to wait until they released the phone for it to be seem in there system. Since it was realeased on the 15th and the update came today, I thought it would fix it. It did not so I called ATT again. after about forty mins on the phone and many restarts later we finally got it to work. I now have LTE and LTE+ for ATT on my unlocked SM-n950u1 .

I think he said something along the lines of, " It's permissions were defaulting to 3g," or something similar. He may have also removed my device and re added it. He also mentioned that he was getting permission from a supervisor to make an official report since it seems to not be an isolated incident.
Attached is the post on best buy I was referring to, that's why I was scared since I have already ordered it.
But glad to hear it works and should work just like the locked version for LTE.
Getting the unlocked today, will goto local AT&T store and get a new sim card first thing. I will let you know how it goes.
