Meh, no big deal. NEXUS PRIME is primed up to be the bad boy coming out very very soon, forget the Bionic or the SGS2.
Nexus Prime or HTC Vigor all the way
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
Big Red sure hates super-phones.
The Charge is nice, but it isn't a super-phone.
The iPhone 4 is far from it.
Man... Verizon fails again.
We'll have to see how the Nexus Prime goes.

It's being confirmed by Verizon, no SGS2 for Verizon. You can email her to get confirmation:

Here is a response someone else got from her when they asked why Verizon was not getting the SGS2:

My response from Verizon's Brenda Raney when asked why the Galaxy SII was passed up by Verizon:
"We have an exciting portfolio of devices including the 4G LTE Droid Charge by Samsung. The new Galaxy S device is a 3G device."

I was pretty upset when I found out. Especially since I was planning on selling my Charge to buy the GSII, then selling the GSII to buy the Prime.
What would suck the most is of the Prime DOESN'T come to Verizon. :/
And what about the Samsung Celox? It's almost like a GSII, but with LTE and a Super Amoled HD display.

Lol.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure Big Red didn't want the SGS2 because the Charge isn't selling all that well(and most people were holding out for the GS2 instead of getting the Charge). Glad I didn't hold out, dual-core is OVERRATED. Only thing I envy is the 1gb ram. Oh lawd I want 1gb ram.

Is it really? I've only used a single core phone before(they load perfect on the Charge with those godly 4g speeds) and if cores on phones are anything like a CPU then they are wasted. Cores are used for multi-tasking plenty of applications or single-tasking core intensive applications and as far as I know there aren't any apps that would require both cores.

Where did you get that info? I'd say that the Charge is probably the best selling 4G phone on Verizon, and if it isn't, then it is definitely the 2nd best selling 4G phone.
The Charge is selling perfectly fine. Its not a blockbuster, but its not a flop either. Its expensive, so that's one thing to consider when looking at the Tbolt. I think the extra money is worth the gorgeous screen on the Charge. Considering I spend a heafty percentage of my time staring at the screen while I use my phone, I consider the screen the second most important component of the phone nipping at the heels of the radios. Motorola has the best radios.... but they don't have an lte device on vzw... yet.

Dual core makes browsing better because it can multi-load 2 things at once on web pages. For example it can load the web script on one core and flash on the other all at the same time. LTE and dual core combined make browsing spectacular. Go try the new Galaxy Tab. It's awesome.

Well, it's not EXACTLY like that, but you get the point. Dual cores just beat the crap out of single cores. My dad's X2 scores like 2500 on Quadrant bone stock with little ram left. My Charge and OG Galaxy Tab are both single core Hummingbirds...and they have NOTHING on the X2, even OC'd and with Voodoo. If you pick up a dual core device you will instantly see the difference. It's smooth as butter.
However, manufacturers had an early problem of the LTE radio toasting dual core processors. My bet is the interference of the 800mhz radio, but i'm no professional. I believe this problem is pretty much solved now.

Well that's not entirely true. Huawei has mainly produced low end handsets here in the states. From everything I've seen and read, their handsets are emanating a quality on par with Samsung which says a lot. I think they're gonna do very well.

I have had experience with the Ascend phone which is a low end prepaid phone and I got to say at the time it released I think aside from a problem with the usb port (which evo 4gs at the time had) the build quality was decent and non-xda devs had it cooking with cm7
vanilla android was nice and with the decent dev support it had that low end phone was keeping up with more powerful phones.
that sounds amazing, but i doubt most people here would upgrade until they put a processor as fast as a i7 in teh phones

Maybe someday there will be a power efficient x86 processor in a phone but the medfield isnt it. Its a 32nm processor, but to match a 45nm ARM processor's power efficiency, it would have 28nm.

My apologies, guess I've read wrong! Anyways it seems like a great chip, but it still needs to catch up to arm power efficiency... and arm has plans for a 20nm process later this year and 14nm the next year... It will be very interesting to see how Intel plays its hand in the mobile phone realm!

so as the title says I need helping picking a tablet right now im looking at the note10.1 nexus 10 and the Asus tf700 resolution is not the most imporant to me im looking mainly.for speed and preformance. for gaming and such anyone have hands on with the tablets that can help? I also want no lag in the home screen I know some devices lag when going through pages on home

I think you should go with nexus 10
It has a great resolution ( I think the best out there) and the samsung exynos 5 chip, though a dual core but a beast. Plus you'll also be one of the firsts to get the latest android!

exactly its a dual core go in reality isn't the galaxy faster with its quad Core? I don't care about resoultion I Care about Power and speed which ;g why I bought the galaxy note 2
Well,
more cores doesn't directly means that it has to be faster 100%. Apps need to be coded properly so they are scaling good with more cores, and I think all you will get is just more points in some Benchmarks, thats all.

Actually its dual core is better than a quad-core cause it has a different architecture, for overall smoothness I will suggest you the nexus 10 but for gaming I wouldnt go for this cause the resolution will kill all the performance in games(cause the gpu is not good enough) and expect poor support for tablet on android.
If you really care about gaming I suggest you an iPad 4 as it has great and more optimised games plus it also has the best gpu on any portable devices such tablets and smartphones.

FWIW, the versatility of the TF700 w/ the keyboard dock is very unique. It has replaced my laptop for sure. But, out-of-the-box performance was lacking. However, there are some excellent devs on here for it, which have negated any lag/performance issues.
That said, I was going to wait for the Nexus 10. The TF700 was a gift. I wouldn't trade

The Nexus 4 is not very attractive anymore. Slower, heavier, limited in storage and functionality and has a much shorter battery life. This latter is a major cause for concern, never mind the price. Hopefully Google will improve on that significantly for the N5, if they do, I'd consider that.

Bad on asphalt 8 yes, the high settings seem to practically bring the exynos processor to its knees while on asphalt 7 game play is buttery smooth. Whether gameloft will do any further optimization for this tablet remains to be seen. I'm not a gamer so I could care less but I feel for those who expect high performance from a tablet this expensive. It sure would be nice to play games on a large screen device like this using a game controller.

I would suspect it's the game not being optimized to run on the hardware. I can think of a handful of other games with great graphics that have no trouble running on this tablet. I would think if it was the hardware, those high detail games would have issues too.
That and gameloft has kinda been slow to update its games for newer hardware. I can think of a couple of their games that had issues with new devices, took them months to release a update, after that the games ran well.
Yup. Certainly the resolution will be an issue too but again, the game developer has to make adjustments to account for it.

This is an example of a game badly optimized for the exynos. The exynos is almost identical to the snapdragon in terms of power and performance however snapdragon gets more dev love. Any game that is properly optomized though will look gorgeous on this tablet and play very well. I havent had any game iv chosen to install play any less than fantastically. If you want c ok ntact the devs of asphalt and ask for it to be fixed. It isnt samsungs fault. Snapdragons have lte built in so it was more effective to go with the exynos for the wifi model.

XCOM Enemy Unknown is another example of bad optimization on Exynos devices. Low fps, stutter and lots of crashing.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I'll be getting my P905 (the snapdragon version) tomorrow, I'll be sure to give you feedback on this matter when I get the time.
I find this rather funny, because the Note 3 Exynos has exactly the same problem.. As does the S4 Exynos..... And from both the Snapdragon device has no issues at all.
Lesson to be learned here: Don't buy a device with an Exynos if there's a Snapdragon edition as well.
I've never had any problems with any Exynos-based chip. That said, the Snapdragon version is always better IMHO.
