Hi, I've just started a side business buying phones with cracked screens replacing and reselling. I'm doing this using the LOCA glue method I've fixed 5 or 6 with no problems as I have bought all the right gear and did research before I just started breaking LCD's it's been a week and so far they are all still good however I was reading up somewhere and it said that after a while you can get a vein effect under the glass where the glue has started coming away from the screen. I was just wondering in people's experience how often does this happen and what causes it as I don't want any returns as it would be a shame to have any returns due to problems at the last stage of repair.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I got a G Tablet for Christmas and there are three specks of dust under the glass! Oh so frustrating. I'm gonna exchange it (not looking forward to shipping fees and waiting) because it drives me crazy.
Am I the only one with this problem?
I'd hate for my replacement to have the same problem.
I have the same problem, 2 decent sized pieces of dust under the glass. Since i'm in Australia I'm not about to ship it back to the US for a warranty replacement.
I will probably try to disassemble it and see if I can lean it myself. Pretty ordinary QA..
I replaced my first gtab because of dirt behind the screen. I opened the replacement in the store before I took it home, just to make sure.
Dust under screen - Solution!
I had this issue come up after about 1 1/2 months, about 5-6 annoying white specs appeared between the touchscreen and the lcd panel. I really did not want to return yet another gTab (first one had bad power port) so I took a chance with some canned air. Being very careful not to allow any of the propellant inside, I removed the memory card and gave a couple of quick blasts of air into the memory slot and again in the usb port. Problem SOLVED! All of the dust specs under the screen disappeared and the display is once again flawless and clear. I suggest giving this a try before committing yourself to going through the return process.
All,
I know this is of my own doing but dropped the TF701 a few weeks ago. Looked like everything survived unscathed with the exception of the top right corner of the gorilla glass being cracked. But I spoke too soon!
For the last few weeks, the unit will be working fine and then all of a sudden I will get multiple horizontal lines across the screen and the unit locks up. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had a similar issue, and is it worth getting repair?
Not sure if this is due to the glass being cracked or is their something more serious with the innards...
Opinions welcome!

Sounds like hardware damage to me - I'd get it replaced or repaired.
So I cracked my screen. First phone I ever did this to and it annoys the crap out of me cause I dont even know how it happened.
Its a super fine hairline crack diagonally across the corners.
Ive replaced tons of screen glass of different phones before but from reading you cant just replace the glass on these?
Is this true. Do I REALLY have to spend 1/3 the cost of the entire phone just for a cracked piece of glass to buy the digitizer and lcd with it?
Any tips are appreciated.
thanks

You'll have to replace the entire front panel as replacing just the screen is a little hard.

i might give this a shot

Everything's fused together.. Replacing just one thing will be really very difficult. Even if you did it, reapplying the new glass will be a challenge as well. But since you've picked apart displays before and with that tutorial, I would surely try doing it myself if I were you. However, where would you buy the new glass? You'll need to buy the whole display, right??
My wife cracked her screen yesterday. Theres a lot of things i would try but screen replacement isnt one. Too many crazy things could be the outcome. Filed a insurance claim and the new n5 arrives todays.

Didnt get insurance since I have NEVER cracked a screen. Still dont even know how it happened I didnt really drop it. I did let it slip yesterday from like 2 feet but cought it on my sneaker.
Very annoyed. I bought a new screen protector and kind of hoping it conceals it a bit.
Ill wait until the unit gets cheaper in a few months and just replace everything.
I then might just buy the glass (its on amazon) and try to replace the glass on the broken one to see if I can and have a spare part.
Theyre like 80+$ but honestly its so fine that unless its tilted the right way its unnoticeable.

The Nexus 4 parts are like 50$ now so maybe in a few months I can get this same thing for like 60$ and be a happy boy again.
Hey dude I've had my n5 for about 6 months now with no issues. My wife is a clumsy type and it took her 5 days to crack it.. I called a bunch of service centers but none had n5 screens. Just paid the deduct able and got it over with. I never get insurance but for her I got to keep it now.

I am the safest person with my phone. I was working on my house and it literally fell like 2 feet to my shoe. The pisser is whenever Im working I put my phone off to the side on a shelf or something but I just finished talking to her damnit.
I havent tol her cause this was her xmas gift to me but like i said you cant even see it. Im hoping with a new screen protector it will hide until the part price comes down.

It's been bugging me a bit today as I noticed that this thing is not only very flexible and has those infamous hairline cracks on the sides, but it's also not entirely straight when looking at it from the profile. I mean, if you put it on the flat surface screen facing downwards, the middle of the screen will have a couple of mm clearance and won't touch the surface unless you apply mild pressure to it. Is it just me or is pretty common and nothing much to worry about? Cause you know, I just got this phone, and if something is terribly wrong with it would be great to know that.
Yes. The top half of my phone is slightly twisted. I actually noticed it a few weeks out of warranty.
Yep, the top half. Added poll to make this easier.
Mine is bent too.
Sold my white Nexus cause all the scratches and wear on the back/discoloring were starting to annoy me (had that phone for a couple of weeks or so). Now the new (used) black one which I bought several days ago isn't visually bent at all, I wonder if this happens mainly with white models.
PS. In case you are wondering, the demand for them nexuses in my local 2nd hand market is pretty high, so yeah it's easy peasy to sell one.
My white model is warped a little. Bothered me for a while but since this phone was the result of an rma I didn't do anything about it in case I got another faulty phone.

Hasn't even been 2 weeks and the screen cracked. I have had an Incipio Dual Pro case on it since I got the phone. Today I dropped it literally 2 feet from the ground and it wasn't a hard fall and the screen cracked. I am beyond disappointed. In 15 years of phones I have never cracked a screen. Anyone have any ideas? Is it possible to replace a screen on this? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, no. I have never used them before and never needed to (I have dropped phones before and never had any issues with the screen). I guess I will be using them going forward if I get another Note.....
I've seen plenty of phones that had cracked screens worth screen protectors. Personally, I don't think they prevent screen cracks at all... Scratches, yes, cracks, no.
I'd call samsung and find out what your options are. Obviously you're going to pay some money if its not covered under insurance, but with a 800$ phone, it would be worth paying to get fixed in my opinion. Around where I live there are places in the mall that would repair broken screens, but given how new this phone is it may be difficult to find a place like that with a high quality repair.
I haven't received my case in the mail yet, but the phone feels so damn nice it's a shame to have to cover it up.
Honestly if this is your first time in 15 years of owning phones to have a cracked screen, I'd say thats a fantastic record and you shouldn't feel too bad. Everyone has had a cracked screen at one point or another. Just get it repaired. There is no way you'd want to go on using the phone for a year or longer with a cracked screen, given how nice this phone is.
My suggestion for a case is to get one of the ones that wrap all the way around the phone with the front cover flip. They are not as convenient obviously, but in my opinion they are the ONLY cases that offer real screen protection. Back-only cases or even plastic/glass covers over the screen are simply not shock resistant enough if the screen manages to hit the ground first. Even back-only cases with raised bezels around the screen won't do you any good if the screen lands on an uneven surface (like rough pavement) because all it takes is one rock near the middle of the screen to destroy it after a drop.
Have samsung repair it if possible, and stick to a flip case for protection all the way around the phone, including the screen. I've had a lot of phones get cracks, scratches or dents ever since I moved to touch screen phones, and the only one I managed to keep for over a year without any damage was my HTC ONE MAX with one of the flip style cases like I mentioned. They can be a little bit of a pain to get use to at first, especially when wanting to take pictures with the camera, but the added protection over the screen is worth it in the long run in my opinion. That or invest in insurance, because this phone has glass all over it and is basically guaranteed to get some damage/cracks if it's ever dropped.

Of course you can. There are many video guides on YouTube. For samsung galaxy note 5 screen replacement part you can check at www.hcqs.com.cn.
So did you get the cracked screen fixed? Was it only the glass or the whole screen which needed fixing?

Dang, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find a suitable solution
Repairing your own phone can be about more than just the money!

I dropped my phone and cracked the screen. I sent it to Samsung for repair. When I got it back, a week later, the left side of the home button was failing to work about 10-25% of the time. I sent it back to Samsung and the replaced the screen/LCD once again. They sent it back to via UPS on the 11-17-2015. Then it was into the New Orleans terminal on 11-18-2015 and scheduled for delivery on Thursday th 19th. It wasn't delivered. I contact UPS on Friday the 20th and was told to contact the Shipper (Samsung). I contacted Samsung and was told they would file a claim with UPS and would have the issue resolved within 8 days!! I asked the service rep why in the world would they not just go ahead and supply me with another phone? He said their protocol required them to file the claim with UPS and they wait for the UPS investigation into the missing package to be completed. I asked him had he ever heard of an investigation into a missing phone shipment result in the phone being found. He absolutely would not answer that question!!
I really, really wish I would have replaced the screen myself now!!!!! At this point I've been without my NEW Note 5 for 7days - first repair, 7 more day's - second repair and 4 days, and counting, lost/stolen during shipment. Luckily I did not sell my Note 3 after purchasing the Note 5.
Lesson learned.
the same thing happened to me yesterday. my note 5 is just 3 weeks old and it fell just about a foot above the ground; the fall wasn't that hard. i thought it wont damage the phone but when i checked, the display got this curvy like lines so i restarted the phone but the same still appeared. i checked the other parts like the camera, the sensors etc and they were all working. so i turned the phone off. after a few mins, i needed to use the internet so i turned my phone back on. i noticed a purple color developed on the top left part of the screen so i turned the screen off. after 30 mins, the purple color had already spread on different parts of the screen. now, the entire screen is covered with this purple color. i know the damage is with the LCD but its kinda weird because the screen didn't get any cracks neither were there any dents on the phone which means that the fall was not that hard. my s3 suffered worse falls and it is still alive and kicking. note 5 is for sure a very fragile phone.
Note 5 isn't any more fragile than any other phone - you just had bad luck.
For example, I've dropped my note 5 once with no case, and 2x with a thin tpu case from 4 feet to a tile floor each time and no damage.
It is purely luck on how it lands.
