Thats great, thanks for building that rom

carbonROM is one of my favorite ROMs, thank you for building it for our device !

Will this rom support hboot 2.16 ?

I will consider to build it if more people ask for...
Sent from my One S using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Hi,
I can't turn on Wifi or Bluetooth or mobile data, tried on stock kernel and on Icecode. Attached is a logcat from the stock kernel.
I'm on an international One S with radio 1.35 and latest WCNSS from this thread.
EDIT:
Seems CyanogenMod has problems on the latest WCNSS too. I reverted back to stock firmware with hboot 2.15 and WiFi and bluetooth work. Mobile data is probably an APN problem.

I want to hear some opinions and experiences with this rom. Battery life, Screen-on time, etc... Anyone?
Ps. New build up!

Everything works well for me now, I didn't really have a chance to try battery life properly, but it didn't seem bad.
There is a small problem with Active Display layout, it probably needs some resizing - the notification icon is not centered in the unlock circle.
The performance seems better than on CyanogenMod - the blue balls wallpaper works smoothly, whereas on CM it feels jagged (not a great measure, I know...)
Did you use some special flags or toolchain while compiling the ROM?

Any major changes?

looks like Dev-Host having some problem, any mirrors?

I will update rom tommorow... Is it possible that Carbon is not popular for this device?

It's not about popularity it's more about included features and frequency of updates. Most are looking for ROMs that are updated frequently not once in a while. Also there are new features present in recent ROMs like Hover/heads-up notifications, DSB, the new CM11 Theme Engine and others. A ROM that doesn't have them has less chances to be taken into consideration as a "preffered" ROM. Personally I love Carbon, I have used it in the past on other devices and it's a pitty that good ROMs like Carbon or Liquid do not have an official build for ville and are not updated on a regular basis. They were very fast and feature filled and for sure many will appreciate it if it'll have above mentioned points fulfilled

Yeah, but Carbon and LS have Hover/HeadsUp, New Theme Engine... It is loss for people when we dont have official builds, but CM kernel is almost everything we need to be updated and we can have any rom... Just uploaded LS, try it...

Thank you for the new addition. Just flashed this as well to test it and see what's new. On first glance, there are fewer customization options compared to Liquid, it does not have Hover just heads-up notifications, does not have some minor things like "contact tile", on-the-go module, Ad Blocker and so on. Overall looks nice and has indeed a lot of things added. Based on the benchmarks it's also slightly slower compared to Liquid (only 5900 score compared to 6300 for LS) but that could be due to the Linaro optimization of LS. Also I feel that phone is a little bit getting warmer during usage compared to Candy or LS
Anyway is great to see more ROMs to choose from.

I need to instal Linux on my HDD, not to VM. It is pain... I have problems with my Nvidia GC and Ubuntu so I must set it somehow... And than, I will sync again all roms... Updates will be available for 2-3 days...

I've had the same issue with an older version of PAC. In my case the problem was that the boot.img didn't flash properly for some reason (I was still S-ON back then). Going S-OFF solved it for me after reflashing the same exact build.

Well, I am S-OFF, and was S-OFF when I tried this, so this is probably not my case. Were you on the latest WCNSS back then?

I'm back with a new project that feels a lot like my old project. If you were familiar with CFX i used to work on you'll feel right at home here. Same minimal feel with a few new features added in.
Nice to see support for another rom comeing to the one s

Whichever the non-datamedia ones are are fine, I can't remember the ville hboot numbers. I use the standard CM trees so if you normally use an official CM build you are good to go here as well.

Yes that is hboot 2.15 for our device.

I may have to spend some time and build this for 2.16 hboot one day. I just have too many apps and data for the non data media partitions with the app sizes these days

Nice!! I was looking for something simple and stable. Just found you. Fantastic job. Thank you very much for such a nice ROM. I've been using it for about 48 hours now and haven't found a single bug. Everything works so well.
Where's the donate button?
Thank you!
Simple is the best.
Work's fine. Look's nice.
Updates daily, delicious.
changelog?
Thanks for this rom. I was looking for something more stable than CM 10.2 and this one is very stable. The only problem I've seen is the accelerometer sometimes is just flat wrong. Most of the time it's ok but sometimes it's convinced the phone is rotated to an orientation that's it's not.
Where can I find changelogs for the nightly builds? There haven't been any commits for the ville version since may 15 but the build sizes are changing. Are you taking the latest updates from CM 11?

ATM were not really dropping changelogs. But yes my trees are based on CM...and there hasn't been any movement there on the trees recently that I have seen. If anything major comes in I'll be sure to comment here. You can also keep up with out github and gerrit to see what we are working on.

Hi bud. Just to confirm Rom boots fine and installs flawlessly! So far not noticed any issues. Unfortunately I'm a loyal candyRom user so will be bouncing back to that but good work and thanks for bringing this to the m4..cheers
Good luck on getting it official
Anyone found any bugs? I want to get rid of them for you guys by next build
I think people (including) me don't dare to install any non-sense ROM because of the overheating-and-phone-killing-issues that are apparently in the CM11 base on the mini (and every fork of it). Now, the error isn't in CM11, but I take from it that there are still reliability issues in getting a non-sense rom working to a point where it doesn't brick phones.
The issue is that on some phones CM11 runs fine for 5 months but then kills the phone, with others it's within two weeks.
And I don't blame anyone for some bricks that might have happened, but it does put me off from any non-sense (AOSP?) based rom, including this one. Are my fears justified?

Well that's up to the user if he wants a none sense ROM. I seen all the fuss about the issues etc even seen the Sense Fanboys loving that people are being scared off AOSP too. Tbh I don't see any problems with it my Rom been tested for awhile and is build from slim not CM with no issues at all... if people don't wanna try aosp then that's their loss....
Doesn't have to do with 'fanboys' or not, does it? I had some version of AOSP on most of my devices (also MIUI and such) and would like to try it on my M4, but seeing reports of dying phones on multiple AOSP versions make (even) me hesitant. Since it only happens on our device it's not in the AOSP base or CM11 base but in the device specific portion, like kernel, firmware binaries in the ROM and maybe configuration on some background daemons (thermald?)... was hoping you could take my doubt away .

Well I don't own this device anymore but the guy who tests builds doesn't have any issues with my ROM. This isn't my thread and I didn't build this ROM so you would have to take it up with the thread owner...
"On multiple aosp version" ???
Had no problems with any aosp rom on this device and I haven't ran sense for about a year now. No issues with pac,or slim and definitely none with candy which is my daily rom. Tbh I did have one issue with cm in the early days which I managed to recover from... But I put that down to my error... Flashing different kernels, installing performance mods/scripts etc and using different xposed modules.
Apologies for hijacking thread
Don't worry about the thread hijack lol...i wasn't paying attention..
I'm back from the hospital and i'm ready to build. t6vzw is brunching right now, and once it's done t6spr will start. after that, the m4 will get going and then my evita...so m4 users, expect your build to be ready by the end of tonight or so
slim m4 should be coming out today or tomorrow...the new server had a lot of build errors so i just fixed it for the evita
going to build for t6vzw, then t6spr, and then m4...

One more. Old thread is discontinue and maybe it needs to be locked.
2.16 builds will not be supported this time. If you want Ls on your phone, downgrade to 2.15.
Something seems to be wrong with this build. I have no sound at all. Means no ringtones, no notifications, no music (using player pro, I get something like "audio format not supported by player pro").

Yes, @Rapier told me that. But, I cant do anything here. Wait until LS team fix it.
OK so for now there's no sound due to some commits. @mikronac.ns is trying to get a new build working, meanwhile I've made a patch for this build to have sound working and enjoy LS. You just have to flash it in recovery after you've flashed the ROM. (let me know if it's not working, for me it worked)
Instructions:
1. Download V2 Patch HERE
2. flash in recovery AFTER you've flashed the ROM
3. flash additional files you want (GAPPS, custom kernels, ...)
4. reboot
Now that we have the ROM working there are a couple of things (I've also added some screenshots to the OP)

- [NEW]main Settings layout changed to include On/Off switches for Wi-Fi, BT...
- the included Layers Manager app is still the old version (3.0). To install the latest version from Play Store (3.4) you must first delete (using a root file explorer) the Layers folder/app from /system/app and reboot. (screenshot in OP is for Layers Manager 3.4)
- the build has "enforcing" selinux permissions. It is recommended to use SElinux Mode Changer to set it to "permissive". This is required for example if you intend to use Viper4Android or other apps that have issues with enforcing
- even if not officially recommended, custom kernels works, I've tested latest IceCode and I had no issues (still this is subjective and it is very much depending on each user's phone usage)
- Xposed works as well, thanks to @Loreane Van Daal, I've found that Xposed module that solves one of the memory leaks in android 5.0.x and there is an improvement. Anyone can install Xposed from official thread HERE, then install the module from Xposed repository (just search for "lollipop memory leak")
NOTE: Theme used in screenshots is Gryffindor Layers theme
Happy flashing...

Still no sound but the patch worked so I'm using it. Hope the issue will be somehow solved by LS cause Sean Hoyt replied to me on G+ page and he said he has no clue what happened. Maybe at next build, if it's still without sound I'll pull a logcat and we could find something there

So you use the Patch from first site ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548040 ) of this thread with the current rom ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548412 )???
And it worked. Because he (the patch guy, sorry I am on mobile actually) says that we should use this patch with the rom Version from 29.03.2015.

I am the "patch guy" and the patch is working for this last version too. In fact it'll work on all builds untill there will be a major change in the libs.
Anyway, I'll test each build and I'll specify if the patch works or not after each one.

You mean there are too few downloads? Well this could be due to the "no sound" issue or because many users are still more comfortable with CM based ROMs...RRO/Layers might have scared some people also. Still LS is one of the best LP ROMs and has options that work without adding Xposed (like Ambient Display for ex). I'm downloading now today's build. Have you tried the 5.1 branch of LS? Is it buildable?
EDIT: Last build as of 02.03.2015 still has no sound. The good news is that I've looked more inside the patch I've made and managed to cut it's size from 85 MB to only 10 MB. So for now you can use the new LiquidSoundPatcher_V2 for getting sound on LS. I'll delete the previous patch and put a link to this post instead

Yes, every build has <10 downloads. I will configure jenkins to count commits or something like that. Maybe I should build it every 2 or 3 days.

Super!!! :good:

OK, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I had the latest stock TMOUS ROM on my HTC One S, HBOOT of 2.15 but *NOT* S-OFF. I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader some time ago. Today I updated TWRP to 2.8.6.0 and tried installing this 5.1 LP ROM. I did a full factory reset BEFORE I installed the ROM.
After ROM install, the phone reboots and then...black screen. Nothing. I tried other 5.02 and 5.1 ROMS and all gave the exact same results.
What am I doing wrong? The ROM pre-requisites don't say I have to be S-OFF. I'm using the HBOOT 2.15 version instead of the 2.16 version. I don't get it.

No ROM has S-Off as a prerequisite (only some Sense based ROM that needs a different firmware) ...but if you're S-On you MUST flash the ROM kernel separately in fastboot mode after or before you flash the ROM in recovery. There are plenty of posts describing the procedure

SAOSP, Euforia, Slim...all have a RRO branch or can be built with RRO since I've seen on G+ that there are such builds. Slim has only RRO but that it's built by mikronac.ns.
The point is that RRO doesn't use memory as Theme Engine does and it's more stable. Performance of such ROM should be better.
There is also the BitSyko community where are detailed instructions and commits that are needed to build a ROM with Layer 2 or 3 support. There are like 2 or 3 commits only to be cherry picked
EDIT: BitSyko G+ community is HERE and they have links for everything one would need to build a ROM with Layers support. Latest version is Layers 2

Commotio B-105
Commotio VS Vanir:
Commotio is DHO's take on Vanir. Different UI, scripts, and often testing new features that may be merged into Vanir.
They are 100% compatible and users can pick their favorite. Commotio can be thought of as bleeding edge testing ground for new features and optimizations which may or may not make their way into Vanir
Donate to: DHO - Team Vanir
Follow on G+: Team Vanir
Commotio + Vanir Features:
- Multiple Devices
- Based on CM13 nightlies
Debloated
- All inclusive ~180 MB –> 60 MB of Bloat removed
- Fully featured LatinIME Keyboard, but only 2.2 MB (normally 16-20 MB), removed tracking/logging
- And soo much more
Butter
- Compiled with linaro keychain.
- Optimized with linaro 4.8
- GCC 4.8 w/ -O3 -fstrict-aliasing AKA highly optimized compiling for better results (like Linaro)
- Vanir.cfg – Set your CPU frequencies, colors, ZRAM, and much more. Set and once and forget; it stays on your SD card
- DHOtheory: Sets up the kernel/ROM the way I like it, then self destructs on first boot, so you can change it later
- Go-faster Axiom scripts
- Vanirice – makes everything just a bit smooth
- For every 1 user settings there are 5 power saving + performance tweaks tweaks
Gapps

IMPORTANT
Currently SuperSU has issues, so kindly don't flash that and access root by enabling developer options by tapping multiple times on build number in about device and then enabling root access from there.
Thanks for this..will flash later....
Stupid question, but is it rooted? Can't get SuperSU working. Other than that, so far, so good.
Thanks for your work ?

Yeah thats why I made this thread. I found out about this ROM from someone's comment and its currently the smoothest marshmallow ROM for me and focuses on just performance and battery life and doesn't have a plethora of useless features that I Don't even use. And if you look at the nightlies page you'll see that they build for countless devices and are the first ones to update to newer aosp bases.
