Commotio B-105
Commotio VS Vanir:
Commotio is DHO's take on Vanir. Different UI, scripts, and often testing new features that may be merged into Vanir.
They are 100% compatible and users can pick their favorite. Commotio can be thought of as bleeding edge testing ground for new features and optimizations which may or may not make their way into Vanir

Commotio + Vanir Features:
- Multiple Devices
- Based on CM13 nightlies
Debloated
- All inclusive ~180 MB –> 60 MB of Bloat removed
- Fully featured LatinIME Keyboard, but only 2.2 MB (normally 16-20 MB), removed tracking/logging
- And soo much more
Butter
- Compiled with linaro keychain.
- Optimized with linaro 4.8
- GCC 4.8 w/ -O3 -fstrict-aliasing AKA highly optimized compiling for better results (like Linaro)
- Vanir.cfg – Set your CPU frequencies, colors, ZRAM, and much more. Set and once and forget; it stays on your SD card

Thread to be updated....
IMPORTANT
Currently SuperSU has issues, so kindly don't flash that and access root by enabling developer options by tapping multiple times on build number in about device and then enabling root access from there.
Thanks for this..will flash later....
Stupid question, but is it rooted? Can't get SuperSU working. Other than that, so far, so good.
Thanks for your work ?

Yeah its rooted. Just turn on the root from inside the developer options.
Vanir and commotio have been running well for flo for some time, but threadless since android L. Thanks for getting the ROM more exposure by creating a thread here.

Yeah thats why I made this thread. I found out about this ROM from someone's comment and its currently the smoothest marshmallow ROM for me and focuses on just performance and battery life and doesn't have a plethora of useless features that I Don't even use. And if you look at the nightlies page you'll see that they build for countless devices and are the first ones to update to newer aosp bases.

No. Its in cyanogen mod. Every cm release from cm12 to 13 has this and all ROMs based on CM have this option. I haven't flashed superuser since Cm12 on any of my devices. I just activate root from here on all of them.
New builds are up for Commotio.

Nice thread . Good thing about these two roms is you can dirty flash them over each other if you get anxious to look at something different for a few days .
New builds of Commotio synced with latest CM changes and Android 6.0.1_r30 are up.
There's going to be lots of commotion when N drops.....
New updated builds for both Commotio and Vanir at the usual mirrors.
Thanks htb...will give it a runout later.
Cheers.
Get your updates. This fixes all the power button and other bugs that had been present in the previous builds.

Welcome to SentinelROM for Samsung Galaxy Note II (International Version - N7100). Compiled with Linaro toolchain from modded CM10.2 source. Android 4.3.
This is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and HTC One X and Galaxy SIII, and now after further optimisation, I'm happy to release it for the Samsung Galaxy Note II - N7100.
We have a rapidly growing community of SentinelROM users on our Facebook Page, and it's a great way to stay up to date with the latest news, beta tests and share with the community, so check it out.
This ROM is compiled from CyanogenMod 10.2 with all the features you get in a CM10.2 ROM, plus the following features.
Compiled with Linaro toolchain for extreme performance.
Increased notifications volume.
Zip Aligned
LMT Pie Controls - developed in collaboration with noname81
Compiled from latest CyanogenMod 10.2 source by me, not a 'cooked ROM'.
OTA Updates supported
Improved Web Browsing performance
Improved 3D gaming performance
Amazing battery life
Additional theming and UI customisation
FAST support via this page and our Facebook Page
A free copy of my music player app
________________________
This ROM has been built to enhance the CyanogenMod 10.2 experience, with faster gaming and web browsing performance (no choppyness in Chrome too!) and best of all, extreme battery life.
Countless hours have been spent making tweaks to settings to squeeze the most performance I can find out of this ROM while still providing excellent battery life and without the dangers of overclocking and kernel level tweaking.
I compile this ROM and Kernel from the latest CyanogenMod source code, add my various tweaks and adjustments, then test for stability, so you get all the benefits of CyanogenMod 10.2, plus my tweaks and extras, all without the instability and inconvenience of flashing CyanogenMod nightlies (which are not designed specifically for the Note II like my ROM is.
The kernel source is available from the CyanogenMod's GitHub.

________________________
A small number of people are experiencing issues with the camera in v4.40. This appears to be due to two different system level firmwares which are available for this device. One is supported, the other is not.
If you are having problems, try flashing a custom kernel. This has proven to fix the issue for most people.
________________________
If installing for the first time:
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM).
Copy the downloaded SentinelROM zip to your Internal Storage.
Boot into your custom recovery
Back up your stock ROM
Enter custom recovery
Factory Reset and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe System Partition
Install the ROM
Install GAPPS package
Reboot - First boot may take 5 minutes
Important: After installation you will be asked if you want to turn on CyanogenMod Statistics, please leave it off as this is an unofficial/modified build.
Note: Use of titanium backup to restore apps and data from another ROM is not recommended, and is the source of 90% of user issues, especially when it comes to battery life. Do so at your own risk.
You may flash other kernels as you wish via recovery. Remember to also flash the correct libraries for any 3rd party kernels. Instructions will be given by the Kernel author.
________________________
The following mods are developed by 3rd parties and have been tested by SentinelROM Users.
I can not offer support for these mods, or comment on their affect on performance or battery life. Use at your own risk.
Enable On Screen Nav Soft Keys - by NemesisRE
MegaBassBeats! - by DeHuMaNiZeD
exFAT SD Card support - by HMkX2
________________________
Thanks very much to all those who have answered my questions through the process of creating my own ROM, you know who you are.
CyanogenMod for their outstanding work. Full credit to them for the bulk of this ROM.
OTA-UpdateCenter.pro for their OTA database support and OTA Updater app source.
Special thanks to sebbe312 for assistance with Beta testing the ROM.
________________________
IMPORTANT: If you currently have "LMT", You must uninstall it before flashing this. The ROM now includes it's own version of LMT.
NOTE: If you require exFAT SD Card support, use the mod posted above.

How to set up Pie Controls for the first time...
4 days battery life on a HTC One X!
Thanks for the ROM
No problem. I hope you enjoy it. I'm looking forward to lots of feedback
Going to flash this now..Will post my feedback. Thanks for the rom mate!
Looking forward to it!
Waw sentinel is here welcome
☞ Swyped From My Note II
The manual says that the first boot can take up to five minutes.
But my Note2 hangs in startup screen " Samsung Galaxy Note 2".
Is this normal and if so, how long must I wait?
EDIT
I flashed the rom again and now it boots till the end.
It shouldn't take more than 5 min. I'd factory reset and wipe system partition and then reflash
Your kernel also supports OTG?
I always get the message that SD card is empty. (connected with OTG)
All looks good, just one question, any way to get 4 way boot option on power button?

Wow, this is the fastest ROM I've had the pleasure to try yet it has great battery life. If it included Pie and even paranoid android controls, I'd be in heaven...

Hi bud. Just to confirm Rom boots fine and installs flawlessly! So far not noticed any issues. Unfortunately I'm a loyal candyRom user so will be bouncing back to that but good work and thanks for bringing this to the m4..cheers
Good luck on getting it official
Anyone found any bugs? I want to get rid of them for you guys by next build
I think people (including) me don't dare to install any non-sense ROM because of the overheating-and-phone-killing-issues that are apparently in the CM11 base on the mini (and every fork of it). Now, the error isn't in CM11, but I take from it that there are still reliability issues in getting a non-sense rom working to a point where it doesn't brick phones.
The issue is that on some phones CM11 runs fine for 5 months but then kills the phone, with others it's within two weeks.
And I don't blame anyone for some bricks that might have happened, but it does put me off from any non-sense (AOSP?) based rom, including this one. Are my fears justified?

Well that's up to the user if he wants a none sense ROM. I seen all the fuss about the issues etc even seen the Sense Fanboys loving that people are being scared off AOSP too. Tbh I don't see any problems with it my Rom been tested for awhile and is build from slim not CM with no issues at all... if people don't wanna try aosp then that's their loss....
Doesn't have to do with 'fanboys' or not, does it? I had some version of AOSP on most of my devices (also MIUI and such) and would like to try it on my M4, but seeing reports of dying phones on multiple AOSP versions make (even) me hesitant. Since it only happens on our device it's not in the AOSP base or CM11 base but in the device specific portion, like kernel, firmware binaries in the ROM and maybe configuration on some background daemons (thermald?)... was hoping you could take my doubt away .

Well I don't own this device anymore but the guy who tests builds doesn't have any issues with my ROM. This isn't my thread and I didn't build this ROM so you would have to take it up with the thread owner...
"On multiple aosp version" ???
Had no problems with any aosp rom on this device and I haven't ran sense for about a year now. No issues with pac,or slim and definitely none with candy which is my daily rom. Tbh I did have one issue with cm in the early days which I managed to recover from... But I put that down to my error... Flashing different kernels, installing performance mods/scripts etc and using different xposed modules.
Apologies for hijacking thread
Don't worry about the thread hijack lol...i wasn't paying attention..
I'm back from the hospital and i'm ready to build. t6vzw is brunching right now, and once it's done t6spr will start. after that, the m4 will get going and then my evita...so m4 users, expect your build to be ready by the end of tonight or so
slim m4 should be coming out today or tomorrow...the new server had a lot of build errors so i just fixed it for the evita
going to build for t6vzw, then t6spr, and then m4...
NEW BUILD! 7.6! Wait for around 15 min after this post is done and you'll see it. Check on the slim website for changelog...

FAQ :
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes, this is Android 6.0.1
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code. Oct-M is based on CyanogenMod 13.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ and all the others have..
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
Basic Instructions :
1. Download ROM .zip file and GApps.
2. Reboot to Recovery
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
3. Wipe system, cache, dalvik, and data.
4. Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files.
5. Reboot.
Enjoy!

The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-M available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-M builds use the device's stock CyanogenMod 13 kernel.

I want to use faux sound but its only possible with custom kernel .
I tried hurtsky valkryie L2 but it drains battery .
What would you suggest I should do after flashing OctOs in order to have faux sound and good battery performance together ?

Check the aosp and cm13/12 version thread
Very smooth! I'm testing the ROM, and I miss this features:
RAM usage in Aosp recents
Double Tap in Lockscreen to screen off
Powermenu tile in qs tiles (important)
Floating windows (important)
I also wanted to ask, the smoothness in this rom comes from kernel, just rom, por both? To see if it worth it changing the kernel as I like more features as GPU OC
Btw congratulations for such a good rom

I have tried it briefly.
It is a good ROM, but in principle similar to other Lineage/Tilak based ROMs
A matter of taste I'd say ..

I'm not sure, You can try using iSu. Atm I don't have much time to test it as I'm preparing for exams to enter a new school for next week.
so? Any new thoughts about the rom? Have you made up your mind yet? How is the feeling of it?
Come on guys , dont keep us in the dark.
And why so many reservations?
Is it going to be a party and you are holding positions in the first row?
Can I come?

Check this, and judge yourself:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-xenonhd-unofficial-t3538333
It should give a good impression on the general features (and tests) of this ROM.
Device specific part is based on Tilak's work I guess, which you know already
The OP thankfully volunteered to maintain the AICP N7100 variant.
I personally like the selection of system apps (see my earlier post):
NovaLauncher, KernelAdiutor, AdAway, ...
What matters: continued support by the DEV; we'll see (I'm optimistic )...
A single query to those who tried this ROM.Does the name of Ext Sdcard is the same as the INTIGERS showing in Root Explorer/ES File Explorer as in other Lineage/CM based Noughat ROMs?
I'm pretty sure 'yes' (integers) --- there is no /sdcard1.
I have a very serious(FOR ME) question to make. In settings>display>THEME, there is an option DARK or LIGHT theme.
When I chose DARK , rom was made like I had dreamed of .
A dark theme in settings and menus, without the use of any other theme downloaded or installed from play or through APK.
My question is: Is this because substratum engine is installed by default with the flashing of the rom, or without it, I can have the option to choose between dark and light?
Ok then, lets take a look in the new member of the family, which is very much welcome and we are very happy that can join us.
I faced a problem at first because as I couldnt find a camera, I realized that could not take any screenshots because message received
''cannt take (or save I cannt recall) any picture'' . Gallery was total black and nothing shown on it.
When I was about to abandon mission , I had a thought, installed snap camera from play (which also has its own gallery) rebooted phone and that was it.
So I was back to action, taking and saving screenshots now,
Lets take a look and welcome a new member in the family, which many of us I think, are going to like hanging around with
What about videos?
Videos and social are well working
New builds are up!

First time installing crDroid to your Moto E 2015 LTE, or coming from another ROM:
** Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (TWRP)
1) Copy crDroid zip, gapps zip
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe cache, system, & data (or just cache & system for a dirty flash).
4) Flash ROM
8) Flash gapps
9) Boot up
For root, AFTER you boot into the ROM, you can go back to recovery and install Magisk XX.x (whatever is most recent).
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
The only difference between clean flash as above and upgrading is you just wipe system & cache, leaving data. Everything else is the same. ***Remember to always clean flash before reporting problems. Clean flashing is always the best method of ROM install.
KNOWN ISSUES
Boot animation is incorrect size (I should hopefully fix in the next build.
You tell me
Don't expect any support if you:
- are not running the included kernel
- have installed any mods such as Xposed!

Sounds like you broke your phone. I be mean you tried different roms with same results either restore to stock and see if it's something low-level you messed with or get new phone If it's VoIP you are using then might be mixer path issues. First try a magisk module. Or use Google to learn about editing it. Honestly though you need to be more specific when it happens. What caused it. Anything besides something so general. It like saying my tires are broken. Yes the car is down and there is issue with tires but why what ect. Is a there a nail? It's it flat? I think the speaker and mic are part of the same module in this phone. So sounds like hardware issue. Do you have mods like sauron/viper/Dolby?
Note: Post it in one place. The best being where you lost the use in the first place. Then get logs.
This rom doesn't have the middle lockscreen shortcuts yet, right? And maybe someone can compare the battery life to RR7?

This is a solid ROM with great battery life for me. I have always had better battery life with crdroid in the past. I did not not test between the two on this device.l, but I have done yesterday on at least he 6 different phones and crdroid was always better for battery life. RR might get more updates though. It had been updated since it was really this was not.... Yet...

I don't know about middle lockscreen shortcuts I don't control feature set of crDroid. This version isn't the "go" version of android. Next build will have the "go" configs to improve performance for the surnia device.

Tried the rom yesterday, and actually it doesn't have any lockscreen shortcuts yet (middle nor bottom). Also there isn't a 4g/LTE button in quick settings (maybe it's possible to get it with tasker or other apps).
If the rom isn't "go", is there some other reason why split screen doesn't work? I would really love to use this function on a pie rom for surnia.

You can set a low ram flag. I think some kernel managers have it, you can look up how to do be it manually, I know for sure lspeed has that option. Only thing it does is allow you a different app set and a bit different memory management. If it's built to it though it's different I think. Different system apps and Google apps like assistant.

Those who want to test a sorta alpha-ish version of CrDroid 6.0 based on Android 10 can flash this build below:
From my knowledge, video recording from camera doesn't work, please if you can report what's working and what isn't. Based on the same sources as the Lineage 17.0 build that was posted recently.
