Are you from the US? If yes have a look in the general forum, there's a thread that you might like... It seems as though n5s from the us playstore with cracked screens get them repaired for free.

It's surprisingly cheap (at least in the US)
If you didn't damage the LCD you could probably repair it with maybe 10-20 USD.

Guys, he says in the OP he's in the UK...
OP - Go to the LG site and contact them and see what they say

They're glued together so you can't just replace the glass. I don't even know why they bother selling that, just to trick people who think that's all they need I guess.
To self-repair any cracked screen you need the glass+LCD+digitizer and preferably +frame as well which costs about $120-$150.

I dropped my freshly rooted One X, cracked the screen .Short of un-rooting my phone is there an easy way of replacing the screen? Or is there someone on XDA that could do this for me, of course I would pay you to have this done. I don't want to unroot to send it HTC. Thank you.

Never said a cracked screen was covered, only said if I had to send to HTC for repair, I didn't want to un-root. I googled it and watched a video on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIeO0DueMcg, from InjuredGadgets.com looks pretty simple so I ordered the repair and I'm gonna fix myself. A lot cheaper than having it repaired

Where did you find the screen? I'm having trouble finding an AT&T-version compatible screen, and some sites say they are not interchangable (the non-AT&T and the AT&T).

I ordered it from injuredgadgets.com they are located in Georgia and offer 3 choices for the screen replacement, here is the link for the One X, http://www.injuredgadgets.com/HTC_One_X_s/1946.htm. I went ahead and got the complete LCD screen with digitizer, the reason being if your screen has not been replaced before most likely you will damage the digitizer trying to separate the LCD screen from the digitizer. With the repair kit plus the screen/digitizer cost $85, you can also send it to them and they will repair it for $150. Watch the video I posted in previous post, If you think you can do it order it and save yourself a few bucks.
Also if you are in major metro area I found some watch repair shops fix cracked screens as well.

Well I got my new screen w/digitizer and surprisingly it was pretty simple to do. Took all of about 45 minutes to do and probably should have taken no more than 30 minutes. It looks and works great.

Hello,
I recently cracked my screen and I would like to replace it on my own but i have the following question:
Did they send you an HTC One X Screen or is is the same for the Evita Device for this (AT&T is the one that I have)
Thank you!
Hello to all,
I recently bought a nexus 5 device d820 and I love everything on it except the display. As you can see in the pictures that i uploaded, the left top corner of the display is "more white". The pictures were taken in straight view and not in angle view. In reality this whiteness is more visible.
Does anyone have this problem?
I contacted Google but because i bought D820 model and live in Europe (no Google store in my country ) they can't do RMA in a Europe play store and i should return the device to US. But i will pay for a lot taxes i think.
Do you think this is an easy fix? And I mean without replacing the whole display
Thanks for every answer!

i am not sure about cost, because sending it to US play store from Europe and paying for shipping it back plus some taxes i am afraid that it will not worth it at the end.

This is the problem when buying online, you can not check and test it before buying it. I was lucky to be able to just walk in to a store and buy one myself.

Yours seems excessive and most people would RMA. Light is escaping from around the edges or bezel of your screen. It's possible that reassembling the phone could alter it but I think the screen would need to fully replaced.
SHOULD'T LGE in my country fix this problem under warranty???
After a move, was rearranging some stuff around and something fell of course by luck on my phone. LCD has cracking and won't power on, glass seems fine.
Called 3 local repair shops and none of them can fix it. Called Samsung and they want $120 but will format the phone (which I want to avoid as it's a pain to get everything back up and running).
Anyone know of any other mail in repair shops that can repair the LCD on this phone? With T-Mobile not even selling this anymore it seems like it'll be harder and harder to get repair for it unless going direct to Samsung
Everywhere I've looked on line a new LCD/digitizer combo costs about 100$ so 120 isn't bad for oem fix but if they are saying it will format the phone what they mean is the will just give you a new one as there is no reason to format a phone when replacing this

Hm, yeah I might have to go with it at their price since every place I have called so far cannot repair it. And they didn't specifically say new phone, they said all of my content on my phone will be lost because they have to reflash. I got pissed because I really don't want to go through the process of setting everything up again (I just refreshed my phone a month ago)
One nice thing about sliders is there is another option to replacing the screen assembly... you may be able to replace the entire top half of the assembly

Thanks for the tip but I don't have any experience with mobile repair so I would not want to attempt that.
Does nobody know of any repair shops that can undertake a repair of this phone? Samsung is telling me that it is mandatory for them to format the phone's data ("for my safety and their technicians' safety") and I don't want to do this because I don't recall when the last backup was made.
Anybody out there know of any mail-in repair shops that have or can get the parts? I am desperate. The repair process for carrier exclusive/not popular phones is awful.
Safety? That makes little sense but so be it. Hell I'll do it for you without a format, you just would have to pay for shipping and the screen assembly. Would give me an excuse to tear this phone apart

Thanks for offering but I caved in to Samsung, couldn't find any other options and my current replacement phone (HTC G2) is garbage so couldn't wait much longer. I just copied over the root of the phone and will have to deal with redownloading apps, had some recent backup of the app list from a month back or so...
And yeah I got into a bit of a discussion with the supervisor at Samsung about the "safety" reasoning. It's a dumb policy, and I think as a consumer we should have an option to authorize a repair without a format, but as a corporation I guess they are entitled to having stupid policies in place.
Sorry for piggybacking on this thread,
Is it possible to obtain the assembly from a model with a bad esn?
Sure! You can use everything but the logic board, actually if the one with a bad esn is in good shape, just swap boards and you're done!

Hello, I have a N5 which magically flew and struck a brick edge of a platform, so I got the front glass shattered. Now the display and touch screen is fine, any ideas how much it'll take to fix this? I live in NCR area, India so if anyone knows any local place that'll be great. Also if I were to sell this (the screen is badly shattered), how much can I get out of it?
If you are handy you should be able to buy a replacement screen for between $75USD-$125USD. If you are not up to replacing the screen yourself I would imagine you would be lucky to get 25% of the cost of the phone back. However, how much you can sell it for all depends on who is looking for a broke nexus 5 and what they are willing to pay.
Exactly 7800. And if You want to sell it, then 20,000. Try erodov.com or techenclave.com Also depends if u bought it from India or not.

Pulled out my month old Nexus out of my pocket, and to my dismay, I found my LCD had cracked. The phone was not dropped or abused in any way and always had a tpu case on it. The glass is still perfect. The right half of the touchscreen works sporadically also so I'm assuming that both the LCD and Digitizer cracked. Pictures are attatched below. Will this be covered under LG's warranty or am I better off buying the parts and replacing it myself, as I have experience with fixing my own phones.
Personally I would not feel obligated to replace that myself, and there should be no reason for that to happen.

That's what I'm thinking, but LG said that I'd have to send it in for them to SEE if it would be covered under warranty, that I'd be responsible for the shipping charges to and fro, and that if they determined it wasn't covered that I'd be responsible for the repair charges. I want my phone fixed and I know it wasn't my fault, but I don't want to end up with a $300 repair bill, that's why I'm asking if anyone has experience with this type of situation.

I would send it in take my chances. I would insist its a workmanship defect. Make sure you take plenty of pictures to demonstrate that their are no physical damage from the outside.

Google do RMA. LG do warranty repair. You can only RMA to google if you purchased from Play.
If you purchased from play, not sure why you're being sent to LG

He's being sent to LG because it's a cracked display. Not an RMA and not covered under warranty. You can put enough pressure on the glass to crack the LCD and not break the glass. That's most likely what happened here. OP I'd still send it to them but be prepared to pay for it. Good luck man.

They'll assess it. But I'd bet a lot of money they will say it's not covered. I've been wrong before so maybe the OP will let us know the outcome in a week or so.
Sure, they probably will but they have to assess it because its possible that a manufacturing defect meant it was predisposed to failure

Painful, how did it break in spite of the case?. But I think cracked lcd is not covered under warranty. You need to call up LG, they will first ask you to send the phone to inspect the condition and then give an estimate cost. So if you know how to do it its better you do it.
I'm no expert but that seems like a point of impact. You might've bumped into something (desk corner?) when it was in your pocket.
LG will want money, if they even are willing to fix it.
