Somehow my g2x was in my front pocket and the screen cracked. Screens still perfecrly vosoble just has a. Long crack across the top. Ruins just about all videos and pictures and i Never dropped it or anything ever. What's. Good excuse or complaint that I can tell T-Mobile so that they might send me a new one? Also this one has chip stability issues and some screen bleed

You should have insurance on it, just say it was stolen.
When you keep a phone in the front pocket it can flex too much and crack the screen, especially when you sit down. Not a defect. TMO probably won't replace it.

Like I said o can see the screen fine the screen itself isn't cracked just the glass above it. It's not distorting the picture or anything.

The screen is about 50-60 on ebay plus you have to pay someone or do it yourself, so for another 60 you get a brand new phone..
If you send the phone to LG service they will replace the faceplate with the digitizer glass for about $70.00.
just tell tmobile ''hey my phones internet is never working anymore, and when i try and turn it on my phone crashes and re-boots, and it wont keep a charge even though i bought 2 extra batterys'' and they will send u a new one,,,,thats what i did when i dodnt know how to unroot the phone at first
Jesus... what's wrong with sending it to LG and paying 70 bucks? When your other electronics break, do you call up companies with **** excuses to get a replacement? At a restaurant, do you come up with a **** excuse so you don't have to pay for the food? It is because of people doing retarded **** like this the insurance rates are through the roof, we get our hand held everywhere like we are fuqing retards and companies are making warranty replacement policies unreasonable.

I would normally agree, but in this case **** tmo, and lg, and nvidia, with all the issues every one had with this phone, (and don't say you don't cause i bet at least you have screen bleed) putting out ****ty, half-baked gb, nvidia holding back a2dp source. If it wasn't for the fine devs here phone would be handicapped.
I say make up the ****tiest most awful excuse, get a free phone and the 70 bucks you were gonna pay lg donate it to a dev(s).
Sure, I have screen bleed. The only time I notice it is when I crank up the screen brightness and launch a specific app. For all intents and purposes, this particular issue is a non-issue.
As for **** Nvidia, disagree here as well. Why should a company release their proprietary source? How come no one is *****ing at Google for not releasing the Gmail app source?
As for donating to the deb's - already did, to CM. Not sure about giving money to others who simply change a few lines of code in a mostly complete project.

No but of your food gets you sick or isn't cooked right you either don't pay for the Neal or you Complain and get a huge discount. I haven't complained about the issues I've had with my g2x once for imsix months now and they've managed to screw me over in two incidents recently trying to charge me several hundred dollars for no reason so this is such a small task o think they can oblige with
I swear I have never dropped the phone. Not once. It ducking cracked in my front pocket while I was STANDING. Thats not normal. Hearing you say this just makes me think your a hypocrite because I can guarantee you have complained about something and gotten it for less than it was at least once in your life.

Phones are not meant to be put in a front pocket. That is damage due to misuse, period.
Even if tmo would replace ur phone / for any reason / they gonna charge u $99 or so for that broken screen or any other damages
Ya even if it is defective cracked screens aren't covered under warranty. And even if they send you a new one if you use another reason, as soon as they see the crack your gonna be charged for it. Trust me I learned the hard way.

Well I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus S (Nexus S is better) but I used a micro-sim adaptor but when I took it out one day it took a pin with it. I called Samsung and they said they don't do repairs like that so where in Canada can I get this repaired? I would love any advice. Thanks!

Same crap happened to me. But I guess I got a little lucky cuz only half of the pin broke off, the other half I just bent up so it would touch the sim when it was put in. Worked for me. Idk if yours came off completely or partially like mine did

The person on the phone said as long as it's not physical damage they can fix it for free... which is ridiculous if you ask me because most people on this forum could fix any non-physical damage on the Nexus.
They told me to go to Rogers for some reason to get it repaired even though I said I got the phone as a gift and it was not from Rogers. I guess I'll try calling them again to see if I can get anyone more helpful.

Well after a long time of playing with it I manage to get the phone to read my sim by putting strips of tin foil on the contacts on the sim card. Disappoints me that I have to do this though and now the phone has no resale value.
I just got mine spoiled after returning from a holiday I've tried putting the copper thing back in place and slotting it back but it doesn't work. Now i have to wait till tomorrow to call Samsung support in hope that they will fix it if i pay money because my device has no warranty because it is from Australia and i'm using it in Singapore. Will they accept it to fix it if i pay for the repair?
And can anyone who used aluminium foil or anything to make it work post photos or videos on how to do it? I have no experience in soldering and stuff (15 years old) and i dont know how much foil to put there. Please help me!

Your post is kind of contradictory. You say they wont fix it for free. That suggests that YES they will fix it, but not for free. Which makes total sense, since you physically broke the phone yourself. That's not covered under warranty.
But then you go on to say they told you to talk to Rogers. Your post is very confusing.
Rogers is a carrier. If you have some sort of damage plan or replacement coverage they may help you. Otherwise, at best, they're just going to send it Samsung in the first place. More likely, they won't touch it.
Your options are to try to repair it yourself, try a local shop, or try Samsung again. I seriously doubt that they wouldn't repair it, for $$$.
Or get a 3rd party warranty. Although, that would be pretty unethical and possibly illegal, filing a claim for damage that occurred before you signed up for the plan.

How hard would it be to replace the charging port on the phone? Mine is on the brink of death and a whole new phone isnt exactly in the card right now so I thought about just replacing the charging port, but I dont know what all would go into it.

Replacing it wouldn't be that hard for someone with some skills with small electronics. If you or a friend have those skills should be pretty painless. If not use that link that eellio sent you or find a repair shop in your area.

That was my reason for looking to get it fixed. I have pretty good soldering skills and I woulndt attempt it.
Juls if they will warranty it I would go that route. I figured it was out of warranty.
Side note, has anybody attempted to get mobile odin ported to the sgs4g? That would do away with the need for a cable.
The mobile Odin will only work if you don't Odin back to a non rooted stock.....must have root to use it .....I looked into it and will eventually let it run its 30 min long log to hand in for a request for our device

If you went with insurance I hope you told them you lost phone? By doing this it allows you to keep your phone for parts or even use it as a tester phone so you can try to flash risky stuff without worrying about being left with a dead device you will have spare. Hope you understand what I'm saying. If you say phone has problem you pay 130 and ship back your phone to them. If you already told them there was an issue and they want phone back wait a day call them back and say the phone is now lost
NOT stolen this way the phone can't be locked out hope this helped

I have not tried after I received the phone but have called a day after I put in claim and no problems. It's worth a shot I mean it could really happen. I always tell them I lost it why should I pay 130 to give my phone away and then they fix cheap and sell it high. Even if the device is broken there are still good parts that you or someone else could use
Side note you can put old phone on ebay and probably get at least 100 dollars to help cover the insurance cost.

I should of seen that coming. But who is screwing who, as phone company charges 600 for device then they require a 2 year contract and phone is only warrantied for one year so you buy insurance at 10 a month for 24 months another 240 we are now at 840 plus when phone breaks you pay another 130 for a grand total of 970, and you get a refurbished device. Do what you want. I am not condoning fraud but for that price I'm keeping my original phone. Ins company are nothing but legal scam artists

If you pay 600 bucks for a device on contract then you are doing it wrong. I paid right at 400 for the phone and car dock OUT of contract.
I understand what your saying, however it is insurance fraud. I disagree with people doing this and will speak up every time. Plus Im sure your comment and my replies will be reported to a mod and get this thread either locked or them removed. Because xda doesnt condone this and doenst allow these type of conversations.
Food for thought, if you are caught doing this it can also cause you to be non insurable as well as criminal charges or for however long the insurance company feels necessary to report you as a risk for fraudulent claims when attempting to get insurance in the future.

I agree with you and understand where you are coming from, but it makes me wonder...
If you were to flash your device and hard brick it, and you have insurance. Would you call Tmobile and say "I rooted my phone and was attempting to load third party firmware on it when I messed up and my device will no longer turn on."?
Or would you simply say your device does not turn on anymore?

I sat for three days with a semi hard bricked Droid X that I got the day after they released. I was about to buy a new phone when moto's version of odin was leaked and I was able to restore it. I also thought my Optimus V was beyond restoration and after hours and hours of tinkering got it back alive. I had paid for insurance from best buy and thought about using it but personally I couldnt do it.
So to answer I wouldnt even call them. I would start saving to replace the phone. I broke it I have to eat it.

Hello, all.
I've recently broken my g2x beyond repair--physically that is. I've been using my girlfriend's g2x and before I contact t-mobile for a replacement (I have premium handset protection plan) I wondered if anyone had recently tried to replace their phone using the same method?
Two questions follow:
Was your phone replaced with another g2x, or a phone similar to it?
Was there an option to pay the difference for a phone upgrade?
If you go through Assurion, you need to call them and ask for a different model. We filed a claim online and got another G2x.
If you're going through T-Mobile, you have to get three replacements in six months before they'll offer a different model

I can confirm this mine broke a few months ago and online all they offered was g2x so I called and asked and they offered me a HTC oneS came brand new in box with new micro sim and I am loving it very stable.

Actually it wasn't...the thread has been talking about the insurance replacement not about the T-Mobile warranty exchange program...they are two completely different things.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
I called asurion and filed a claim today.
They said they could only send out a different phone if the same model phone is not available; I didn't want to push the issue since I'd be getting a new phone anyway.
the deductible was $130
Didn't want to create a new thread so I'll post here. My G2X recently started sensing the headphones even when non are plugged in which doesn't allow me to call without using the speaker. I went to a T-Mobile store and the representative there, after checking if my phone has been rooted off-course, said that for $5 I will get a replacement in 2 days which is a "much better" phone. What I got in the mail is a G2, which is a) 6 months older b) has a smaller screen c) has a single core processor d) has a slower wireless modem - I can go on and on, but the point is it's not an equivalent phone. This was the first problem I had with my G2X in 1 year and 9 months of owning it, so by all means replace it with another one or something that is better. I am going back to t-mob today, but I am not holding my breath. I'll keep people posted on the results of my expedition. Any insight into this matter is greatly appreciated.
Keep is posted, interested in seeing what they do for you....of anything at all

maybe treat it as an honest mistake on their part at first. I'd be surprised if they stuck with the verdict that you deserve a G2. You didn't tell us what replacement plan you had or what warranty you were using to get it fixed. Also, usually the headphone issue can be fixed with compressed air or a straw brush or q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean off the contacts, which can register a headset when nothing is in there.
tell them you want your G2X back if nothing else. It's probably worth more with the headset issue than the G2 new.

Didn't get a chance to stop by yesterday, so we'll see what they say today. I am an electrical engineer so I can easily fix this issue, I just think if I pay $7.99(premium handset protection) I should be able to use it - especially since my wife and I have paid it for 2 phones for almost 2 years. I came straight to the store and the T- Mobile representative filed the claim for me - so since it was only $5 shipping I assume the replacement is direct from T-Mobile.
Well, as expected, the T-Mobile rap agreed that the G2 is inferior, called customer service to see what they can do and and they said - "too bad-so sad." After that, he said that the only thing he can recommend is calling customer loyalty(I'll try it but I am not holding my breath). So the bottom line is, T-Mobile stole $400 of my money over 2 years for 2 phones since the protection plan did absolutely nothing for me even when my device broke. I am sending the G2 back and that's that. TMobile offers the cheapest service, especially if I have 3 lines with unlimited data and a 10% discount I can get through work, so I really doubt I'll switch to something else.

Well, finally after 2 visits to the T-mobile store and contacting customer loyalty department twice - the first time I was promised I will get a replacement G2X - and the order was never filed - I got a nice shiny refurbished LG L9. It's not the greatest phone, but it sure as heck beats the G2 and is definitely better then the G2X. Not sure why this was so hard to do in the first place?
Glad you got a new rig man!!
My wife's S3 was run over. She called to file a claim and was told they are out of stock and that it could be 5-7 days before they have something to send her. They also said they could not offer a different phone, because nothing was shown in their system as a comparable replacement. So for now, she's stuck with nothing.
This seems pretty terrible. Is this typical? I'm definitely going to be looking for an alternative insurance option when this is done.
thats unacceptable.
id demabd something else.
you pay for a service, it should be executed properly

I agree!
The only other warranty I know of is Squaretrade. Maybe you could check them out??
This might be a good opportunity to get that note 2

Fwiw I tried calling Verizon just to see if they'd do anything to help the situation. My reasoning being that they sold me and bill me for the plan, so they should make it right. They basically took no responsibility.
They are joshin you..asurion will give you a note 2 if they have no s3..just yell at them saying it unacceptable and if asurion doesn't budge you need to get on the phone with Verizon asap and talk to a manager

Just to add, I was talking to the Verizon manager in the call I reference above, and that manager refused to give me the name of their direct supervisor after basically telling me there was nothing that could be done on their end (except credit the account for days of service during which I'm waiting for the new phone). I am on hold with Asurion right now with a supervisor, but still being told nothing they can do to fix the situation.
Update: Asurion supervisor unable to help. Told them I'd be cancelling insurance on all 3 lines when this is resolved, posting about it on XDA, and submitting complaint to the BBB. Being transferred to the...CEO?
Definitely unacceptable, they are legally bind to replace you with an exact phone or comparable phone and note 2 is the only comparable phone to S3 unless they already have the s4, which I doubt.

Well they never mentioned the Note 2, just kept saying no S3 in stock and that there was nothing else comparable available as an option either. After that last transfer to the corporate office or something, I was again told the same thing but also offered the option to buy the S3 at a corporate Verizon store and get reimbursed minus deductible. So I took that offer and ultimately happy with that solution, but definitely not happy with the runaround and hassle.

After that return and exchange for the note 2.Verizon has a 14day return policy. S3 is not worth having

There is nothing wrong with the s3. I don't know where you get the "not worth having part"

For me, this is anything but typical. After this past weekend, I've filed four claims with them in the 3 years I've been their customer. Only once have they not had my device in stock, and the rep immediately suggested a comparable replacement. I know they don't always get the best reputation. However, I always get my claim filed fast with no hassle and the device always arrives very quickly.
Me and my GF both got replacement phones before the holidays. She broke hers and I cracked my screen. For both I told Asurion we lost them, cheaper fee and got phones the next day. Got to keep the extra parts too (batt door, batt). I would never tell them I broke the phone, they want the broken one back and its more expensive. Just pull the Sim and tell them u lost it. I use my old phone with the broken screen as a music player, and for WiFi. Screen still works its just cracked bad.

I thought about just reporting it missing, but phone was smashed enough that nothing was really usable. I also thought the deductible was the same regardless of damaged vs lost/stolen. At least that what it shows for me when I look up the deductible...

This. The s3 is the best phone out in my opinion, unless of course you want to go bigger. Then you would shoot for the note 2

Did you file a claim online? Did they ask for any documentation or anything?
I ditched all insurance for both my wife and myself. I found that for $7/month and a deductible of $50-$100 I was way better off fixing the phone myself and dealing with it that way. Every experience I had with asurion when I did have them was a headache and the refurbished phones they replaced my phone with were always defective and needing another replacement. Replacement digitizer on my wife's Bionic was $30 with about 30 minutes of labor. Nothing compared to >$200 cost that would have come from asurion's "help".
The claims I've had with Asurion have usually been handled well. Even had an old droid incredible replaced with an incredible 2.
I had a claim on my sgs3 5 days after the release date because I dropped it snd the screen shattered. It was so new they had to send me a new one. Took 3 weeks!!!! I actually went and bought a new screen for it and had it working before I got my replacement.
