[Q] Black screen - stock rom - memory full error - HTC One S

Hi,
I have been given an HTC One S to try and rescue the photos from. My friend isn't worried about what state it ends up in to get them.
Problem:
While on holiday he allowed the phone to fill up with pictures and I think he was recording a video when he got a 'memory full' error message.
The phone froze, so he restarted it. On restart it booted, then showed the locksceen for half a second then went blank.
Now the screen is blank and it doesn't matter what combination of keys you press the screen doesn't wake.
If I hold the volume down and power, I'm pretty sure it power cycles, home keys flash and it vibrates.
When it's on and I plug it into a PC it shows up as a DVD drive.
I have had a couple of Samsungs and now a Sony, so I am not a stranger to ADB and Flashtool.
This is a stock phone. No root. No recovery
Repair centre said they would do a factory reset and he would loose everything, so sending it back to HTC isn't a option.
Would appreciate any help or advice.
Thanks

Touch Pro will not Hard reset!

I started haveing issue with the device last night, the phone app was locking the phone up, i tried restoring from my sprite, but it didnt work.
I got it to a point where it workied, but for some reason it lost all my contacts and email settings.
Well I said screw it, ill just hard reset and start from scratch, after a soft reset, it hung on the "Touch Pro" screen withthe red text at the bottom, then just sits there.
If I hard boot it does the same thing.
any ideas?
go into bootloader and then flash a new ROM there.
Hold Volume down and reset. You will go to bootloader. Plug in USB and flash from there. No need to sd flash.
it will not go past the touch pro screen, still sitting like that now. I cannot even turn it off, just reset it and get back to the same spot.
did you take out the battery for a time? but you do that on your own risk... for me that doesnt sound good ...

Yep, the best I have been able to get is plugging the phone in and getting it to constantly reset itself.
BRICKED!
New ohone in the mail, hope to have it tomorrow,
Now, do I use my old sprite back up from a week or so ago, or start from scratch?
BD
best is to begin new, but for me that would take 1,5 days cause i know nothinh about UC; thats why i restore my spb backup... with differen Romeos version i had never problems ... take the rom upgrade mode...

Once I get to the bootloader screen, how do I flash the rom?
What is the latest stock rom and what is best link to download?
I finally got to the hard reset warning screen. It says press "send" to reset. Everywhere else (including manual) it says to press "volume up". Anway, I pressed and released "send" but nothing happens. It seems frozen on teh warning screen. Or does it take a few minutes to hard reset.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Did you tried the method with settings => system => "Speicher löschen" ( in german; "eraze memory" or something like that in english) => input 1234??

I sent mine back, it did nothing.
hard reset
i had to hard reset my htc touch pro as well because i unistalled a program and it wiped out like half the stock programs. this is what i did....
1). make sure you back everything up that you have on your phone.
2). shut off your phone
3). hold the volume down button and the enter button at the same time. (enter button is the big cirle center button)
4). while holding those two buttons in, press and hold the power button on the top until the popup appears on the screen. then just follow the steps and your phone should be like brand new again!!
Funny thing I did it the first time and it worked like a charm. But now i'm having trouble in doing it again?? any suggestions?? anyone???

Serious boot-problem - HTC HD2

Hi,
I got my HTC HD2 only a couple of weeks ago, and I already got a problem with it
The thing is, that I can't boot it up properly; when pressing the "Turn on/Turn off/hang up"-buttom, it boots by comin' up with the white screen with the green "HTC"-logo in the middle and some system information in the left buttom.
Afterwards the animation with "quietly brilliant" comes up and the Windows logo with the orange background comes up - and then it turns off and boots up again.
I've tried to...
* reset it (not hard reset - I have some contacts that I don't wanna loose).
* charge it up (I can, when the windows-logo appears, see, that the battery's full)
* pull out the battery for several hours
Please help - I'm very sad about that I used tons of money on a device, that now won't work.
Is there any way, where I can solve the problem without loosing all my contacts?
I did it!
Ok, found out that all my contacts were synch'ed with my gmail.
I hard-resetted it, and it works now.
Thanks for your help
Lol well done!
For people that dont have push/exchange contacts etc, always backup using myphone, spb, sprite or other software.
Cant tell you enough how important it is to back up, unless you like loosing everything right?
Greetz.
Boot problem..
Hello there,
I bought my HTC HD2 like 2 months ago, and the first two days it froze like thrice !
Now, suddenly i find it turned off then when i try to boot it up, it get stuck on the white screen with the green "htc" and information in red to the bottom left. It hangs there!
It did later show the following black screen with white text:
"The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tired to install an application from untrusted source. Press Volume Up to reset your decice or press any other button to cancel. This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to it's factory settings"
but the thing is, i can't press anything at this stage, nothing happens....
I did try to hardware reset, charge, remove battery and put back, etc..

You tried:
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
If that dont work try flashing a new rom using mtty.
If that still doesnt work I would expect it to be a hardware problem, i would send it back to htc or if without warranty take it to a Phoneshop (or open yourself), probably a wires loose or something.
Thank you for replying... but sadly no, it didn't work
I do have warranty, ill take care of that..
Thank you again.
did hard reset and returned to factory settings. all my installed applications were lost. pity.
All I wanted is to install the @#$%% russian keyboard!
ALWAYS backup first. Simple.

If its brand new out of the box, id take it back and get a different one. If its second hand, see if you can get into bootloader. If you can you can then flash a stock htc rom, if not its back to the shop.

[Q]

My HTC Surround fell out of my hand while on a bike going very fast down a hill and into a puddle of water, and when I got it out it wouldn't turn on. When it finally did my phone was completley wiped and reset and I had to sign in with a different Windows Live ID. Then all of a sudden my phone restarted and turned on and it was back to the original way it was before I had dropped it. It was fine for a few hours until it died, then whenever it rebooted it did in the bootloader screen. When I called HTC I got some hard to understand foreign woman and all she told me to do was a hard reset which doesn't work because when I go to press the volume down button to select the reset option it does absolutley nothing. I have tried the Camera button + Power + volume to downloader mode but it just sits in download mode then reboots into bootloader. It is not recognized by the computer unless it's in Download mode or "connect to pc" mode and Zune tells me that theres an error and it cannot fix the device. I downloaded the Windows Fix Tool and it also says the device cannot be fixed and there's no restore point. And I cannot take it to HTC or AT&T because I am out of warranty. So, any ideas here? Is it completley done?
Dude you should've took the battery out first thing, but it still could be salvageable.
You could try the rice trick:

Good luck!

Moto G unresponsive

Looking for a quick fix here as I can't go to the service centre and get a replacement until at least Tuesday, and I need my phone working before then. I'm hoping someone else has had the same problem and can help me out.
My Moto G froze and became unresponsive (while I was refreshing my Gmail inbox) and it would not accept any input. I held down the power button and the power menu opened, however when I tried to power it off, it wouldn't accept my touch input. So obviously the next course of action was to hold down the power button for 10 seconds to force a reboot. The Motorola logo appeared and the phone vibrated... then it did nothing.
I tried this a few times and still nothing happened. I am able to boot into the bootloader, but apart from that, the phone goes only so far into the boot cycle before the screen goes black and does nothing.
Motorola's website suggests that if the Moto G becomes unresponsive, and the regular 10 second reset doesn't work, you should hold the power button for 120 seconds and keep it plugged in to a charger. This didn't work either. As of right now, my phone is just sitting here on my desk with what I would call a 'black screen of death.' Help would be appreciated.
I cannot boot into recovery, I cannot access anything. The phone is stock, unrooted, and running KitKat 4.4.2 without any modifications whatsoever. It's about 5 months old now, so it's still covered by warranty and I don't want to void it.

Can you boot into bootloader mode and use adb command from a pc? If yes, maybe you can try to flash a stock recovery img file via your pc to phone.

Would that require unlocking my boot loader though? I don't want to void my warranty, especially considering I did nothing to the phone and it's currently unresponsive.
I am not sure - but my guess is that bootloader needs to be unlocked to install custom recovery to "recover" & backup userdata before flashing the entire original stock firmware; that's usually the first step we see in all those modding guide in different forums online.

I suppose you can also contact motorola support to see if they can help you recover your data before getting the phone fixed or replaced under their warranty program.

[Q] DESPERATE HERE: Phone won't boot after soft reset?

A couple of months back I decided to root my device. I did this using the unlocking the bootloader method. As a result, I lost my DRM keys, and I managed to restore DRM function by following the methods detailed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
I had to download the stock Android 4.4.4 from online, which I flashed my phone with - no problems. Things ran smoothly from then for about a month, and then I realised that my cellular network started to malfunction, and I couldn't access apps like YouTube and Snapchat on the cellular network. This prompted me today to do a "soft reset" of my phone, by holding the power button and volume up button simultaneously for about 3 seconds - under the impression that it would restore my phone settings back to the factory default.
Much to my horror, the worst case scenario happened. When I performed the soft reset, my phone vibrated 3 times and switched off. When I tried to turn it back on, it would show the boot-up screen indicating "SONY", followed by the next screen indicating "powered by android", and then it would show the blue screen with the wavy lines. It stayed on this screen for about 20 minutes. I figured something was wrong, and I tried to soft reset it again, only to be stuck at the blue screen once again. I decided to let it stay that way for 2 more hours, in order to drain the battery. When the battery drained, I turned it back on, and it was still stuck at the blue wavy screen.
I don't know a whole lot about Android phones, and I have no idea why this is happening, but it is causing me an immense amount of frustration - I have invaluable data on that phone, and to lose it would just be devastating. I can't even begin to describe it. I'm using TWRP recovery, and I'm also using TitaniumBackup which is backed up onto my phone's internal storage, and I can't access any of the files on my phone from my computer, because it doesn't recognise my phone.
This has been a long one, thanks for bearing with me. I've got a few questions:
1. What's the problem that's preventing my phone from booting?
2. How do I fix it?
3. If it's unfixable, how can I retrieve my data from my phone?
Really, really hoping someone can help me out on this - I'm completely lost and am desperate here. Thank you in advance!
Can you boot into TWRP's recovery mode using the volume down key?
Just press volume down when you see the green light on your notification led upon powering on your phone
Well something keeps the phone to boot, try to clean cache in recovery, it might help.
But to restore data on internal storage, count it as unpossible.
