Intro to Cryptographic Currencies - Security Discussion

Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Unobtanium!!
Hi, guys. The requirement to establish bona fides here seems fair. So:
I am a crypto-graphic currency geek -- that's Bitcoin and Friends. My android skills are pathetic -- but the two technologies are rapidly being bundled together. I have two 'wallets' on my smartphone.
So -- I will try to answer questions, and I suspect that I will learn a lot from you guys. My specialty is analysing coins and their communities. And my goal is to post info about an android app.
Is Bitcoin the only 'crypto'? Nah -- over 700. Is it the best? Well, it's 'first-generation': but it holds 95% of total market-cap, so it is The Biggie. Are there different types of cryptos? Whoa!! Yes.

Your First Android Crypto-Wallet?
The biggest problem is learning to secure crypto coin in the first place. You have to learn how to 'set up' a buy on the net (through a bank in your country); go to the bank; deposit the 'fiat' currency (ordinary money); wait for your crypto to turn up in your wallet.
So, ya gotta start with a wallet:
you will find Litecoin and Bitcoin wallets in Google Play Store. Download one. It will 'synch,' which means that it will suck up the data that IS the currency. The coins are not in your smartphone. They are in the 'blockchain.' You can chuck the phone down the well. Doesn't matter . . . if you have 'archived the keys.'
We'll do that tomorrow.
Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

I searched. There are plenty of references to 'Bitcoin' here. But most aren't recent.
Bitcoin holds 95% of total crypto market-cap. It is a great coin because it has 'brand awareness.' However, if you are a serious technophile, you might like to know that it is 'first generation.'
The second-generation coins are sometimes not even currencies: it's all about the 'blockchain,' on which you can run a currency or a 'protocol' that includes a currency (or other) or even a thing -- 'asset' -- that is like a company, with stocks (coins) that you trade.
But the bottom line is: ask me how you and a couple of mates can run a $3 experiment in cryptos and android wallets. I'd be glad to do it.

The fascinating/incomprehensible reality at this second is the way in which technologies are being linked to technologies are being linked to technologies. It's a no-brainer that android-savvie people would love and profit from cryptos. In particular is Nxt's 'SAE,' where innovators can launch coins to raise funds for projects.

Big News:
Paypal -- Braintree -- looks like accepting Bitcoin
A year ago, cryptographic currencies were hard to spend. At present, they are accepted by Amtrak, Virgin Airline, Expedia.com, CheapAir, Revpar Guru, Toshiba, Dell Computers
Nxttycoin is Nos. 16 on the charts today.
Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

Okay, the release on Google Play Store of the Nxttycoin app is only about a week away. Nxxtycon is Nos. 14 on the charts -- and Overstock has just announced that it will accept Bitcoin.
Ask my any questions you want.
Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

Never a dull moment! The Mining Thing has lowered crypto prices -- but adoption is just raging. Nxttycoin is so so so close to being released.
Ask any questions you like.
Mark, (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

Crypto prices are rising (we have a fair idea of what caused the drop). Nxttycoin should be released at the end of this month.

OpenFeint: Anyone else having problems with their score updating?

My score stopped updating months ago... been stuck at 2499.
I've obtained many points in other games, and I just reeled in 350 points in Reflex Master... with no change to my gamerscore whatsoever. It's a minor thing to worry about, I know... but I'll admit I do love to just go achievement hunting sometimes, and it's infuriating to get achievements without my score budging?
Has anyone else been having this issue?
I have the same problem (in my case it's a more recent account, but there are various games on it and the score never went higher than 0). Surely we can't be the only ones?
Mine seems to not be showing results I've achieved so far, unfortunately I'm used to it as Gameloft's Live! service has a similar problem and while it recognizes all the games I own, only shows achievements for a couple of them.
...ugh, so it's not just me... I can't believe how long this has gone on.
Sounds like a good time for Android to get it's own "GameCenter" equivalent...
Turns out the reason is they no longer exist

From the illustrious Wikipedia (I know, but still...)
History
....
In April 2011, Japanese company GREE, Inc. bought OpenFeint for US$104 million.
Class Action
In 2011, OpenFeint was party to a Class Action suit with allegations including computer fraud, invasion of privacy, breach of contract, bad faith and seven other statutory violations. According to a news report "OpenFeint's business plan included accessing and disclosing personal information without authorization to mobile-device application developers, advertising networks and web-analytic vendors that market mobile applications"[4]

If you haven't bought your Haloween candy yet....

Well done Google! You proved that you have added another skill to your inventory!
A world class prankster!
The commercials and the Kit Kat candy bars with cryptic clues and $5 play store credits was pure genius, like I have said before. A wonderful marketing machine for both Nestle and Google, and paved the way for advertising your products on popular consumer food items in the future.
Bravo, bravo!
PS - you also turned me into the Halloween scrooge, as there will be no child who will receive a Kit Kat or Nestle candy product from me tonight as I will go out of my way to avoid these products today on my $100 annual candy purchase - I live in a soccer mom neighborhood where kids swarm like locusts as the sun goes down. Just my own little personal trick or treat favor in return - if everyone on XDA did the same around the world it would make a nice dent in those holiday profits, and that would be wonderful news to read. But alas, people are fickle and will awake tomorrow morning like the same excited 'hungry dog' with 'lapping tongue' hitting F5 on the source page until they finally wear off the letters, and yet no update will come until mid November because any later than that and you risk parents and shoppers buying another type of phone for the holidays, and that's not going to be allowed to happen because that's part of your arterial blood supply.
Happy Haloween my XDA brothers and sisters! And for once Nestle can 'eat me' not the other way around! lol.

[GAME][2.3+] ShipZ 1.12

Greetings,
We have released our first game, "Shipz".
Shipz is a line drawing game where you struggle to control merchant ships. As the overseer of trade route, your goal is to make them trade and lead them to their correct docks! Be careful though, leading them to wrong docks or colliding same colored ships is bad for your trade. Pirates will be a threat to your trade but I'm sure you will handle them well. Ah, there is also rumors about a ghost ship, but I'm sure it is a rumor only.
Play Store Link: (Can't provide the forum is not letting new users to post links) You can search "Shipz" in store!
Any comments to the Play Store's review section or here will be appreciated a lot.

[Game][4.0+] Magium- A text based fantasy themed Choose your own adventure game

Hello!
I've recently completed the first book of my text adventure game after a year of work, and I would be very grateful if you could give it a try and give me some feedback. In this game you play as an ordinary guy trying to win a mage tournament against the most powerful mages in the world, in the hopes of winning the grand prize, and using it to fulfill your lifelong dream of becoming a mage yourself.
As you progress, you will also get to know the inhabitants of the continent that the tournament takes place on, and you will learn that a person called the Creator established several utopias in this realm a few hundred years ago, where animals and humans could live in harmony, and where food was created through magic. What you will get to experience throughout the game, however, is the downfall of these utopias, and you can even choose to save them from destruction if you so desire.
Besides the traditional choice making, you also have stats you can level up, and there are different checks in the game to see if you have the necessary level to take a certain action. For example, if your ancient languages level is high enough, you can understand when the animals or monsters speak.
Here is the link to the game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magiumgames.magium
I hope you'll all enjoy playing this game as much as I enjoyed making it!
Cheers!
Congratulations
Dude, your game is just amazing, the best app I have ever downloaded in my phone, I just want to congratulate you and say that I cant wait to see what happens next! Keep up with the good work (and please tell me the first book's ending can be reversed ).
P.S.: why don't you put your game for ios as well? I have some friends that loved the idea but only have iPhones.
I just saw the XDA thread on r/androiddev and I remembered this forum. Just wanted to let everyone here know that since my initial post on this forum, the 2nd book has also been completed and the story is still in progress. Chapter 4 of book 3 was published a few days ago on android and iOS.
Cheers!
Hey there, thanks for sharing your game!

Unfortunately, it looks like Google Play purchases are unavailable in Montenegro, and this game relies exclusively on IAPs for income (the game doesn't have any ads). Aside from that, if I were to publish the game there without an option to pay to unlock the next books faster, I'd be sure to get negative reviews from people. I'll publish it there if Google ever makes purchases available in that region.

Makes sense. Maybe you could consider making an alternative version without IAPs, so that you could sell it from Play Store and XDA store with an upfront price? Or maybe there are other IAP providers that do not depend on Google's slow expansion? I have no idea how practical that would be, but at least you would be able to reach a few more people...

I can't really sell it with an upfront price because the game is still in development. The first two books and first four chapters of book 3 are available, which all amount to around 600k words on all paths, but the series will have 5 books or more, and I don't want to ask for the full price now, because it takes a long time to write these.
I had the game up on the amazon store for some time, but there were barely any downloads coming from there, so I pulled it out, because it wasn't worth the extra effort to port a new version for that store.
When the whole story is finished, I'm planning to put a full-priced version of the game on Steam, and maybe then I'll also consider some other stores, but that will be years from now.
Ok, good luck and sorry for noise.
Amazing story, enjoyable and fun. Must be crazy hard to keep up with writing it tho.
A song that kinda feels like it matches this is "Tabi no Tochuu (Spice and Wolf)" by AmaLee.
Barry (my one at least) is a crazy but smart guy focused on his aim, which I love.
Good luck with the rest of it, I'll defo be keeping up.
PS - You might wanna secure achievements by forcing over the cloud or something cause someone can get the books for free by editing the savefile as root.
This is interesting
