If you haven't bought your Haloween candy yet.... - Android General

Well done Google! You proved that you have added another skill to your inventory!
A world class prankster!
The commercials and the Kit Kat candy bars with cryptic clues and $5 play store credits was pure genius, like I have said before. A wonderful marketing machine for both Nestle and Google, and paved the way for advertising your products on popular consumer food items in the future.
Bravo, bravo!
PS - you also turned me into the Halloween scrooge, as there will be no child who will receive a Kit Kat or Nestle candy product from me tonight as I will go out of my way to avoid these products today on my $100 annual candy purchase - I live in a soccer mom neighborhood where kids swarm like locusts as the sun goes down. Just my own little personal trick or treat favor in return - if everyone on XDA did the same around the world it would make a nice dent in those holiday profits, and that would be wonderful news to read. But alas, people are fickle and will awake tomorrow morning like the same excited 'hungry dog' with 'lapping tongue' hitting F5 on the source page until they finally wear off the letters, and yet no update will come until mid November because any later than that and you risk parents and shoppers buying another type of phone for the holidays, and that's not going to be allowed to happen because that's part of your arterial blood supply.
Happy Haloween my XDA brothers and sisters! And for once Nestle can 'eat me' not the other way around! lol.

[Game] Parallel Kingdom [MMORG] 1,000,000+ players [FREE]

Say Hello to a new World.
There are few games on mobile that are insanely addictive. Parallel Kingdom AOT, is by far the most intriguing one I have come across. PK comes across as a MMORG, which uses the GPS on your phone to place you in your actual location in game.
The game starts you off as an explorer beginning his/her journey. As you continue your adventure, you level up, get upgraded weapons and armor, and slay monsters day in day out. You constantly play alongside other players, from throughout the world, teaming with them to form kingdoms, cities and alliances.
Parallel Kingdom uses Google Maps as the background, and makes use of GPS satellites to place you in your real life location. New updates including the satellite map feature lead to you actually getting the sense that you are enjoying a high seas adventure with your mates, or leading an expedition through the Sahara desert, or struggling through the Amazon forest, slaying any monsters that come you way.
The great thing about PK is that you continue in the same place you leave. So you don’t have to worry about getting back to where you log off. Perblue devs have managed to create an amazing game through almost a 3-year period.
PK is available on both Android and iOS.The game has reached the 1,000,000 player mark and is spreading fast. The game is a nice change from Angry Birds, and maybe a step away from it and possibly all other games. Don't blame me if you end up becoming a PK addict.
Try to use my referral code at the end of the tutorial.

Hello new world......you got WoW por la me?
Seriously try this, this is an epic game. Not the 3-d graphics etc you would normally want from a mobile RPG. However, this is really an exceptional game, and it runs very smoothly, plus its easy to adapt to and very hard to get away from it.
Thanks for the tip, gonna have to try this out now!
Bump, people message me in game, my name's 'democrats', il try to help you out.

I believe you're overreacting.
The developers likely use SMS for the in-game chat. Thus why the permission is needed.
looks awesome

The game uses food as a currency. Food can be bought with real cash, dollars pounds etc. One of the payment methods which can be used is Zong. Zong uses messages to get u food, I am not sure about the entire procedure but thats the basics. If you wish to buy food you are directed to a message which if you send gets you the amount of food you want to buy.
This was brought up on the PK forums as well.
hey... Helloooo new world
I sent out messages to all the people who started playing, just send me a if you need any help at all.
Front page?
This game has been out for years, you advertise it on the forum along with your referral code and it gets on the front page? Did you make the game?

I am not one of the devs. However, people at XDA looking for intuitive, exciting, and enjoyable content, and PK, is that. So it was'nt a surprise that this ended up on the front page.
It was maybe lost on the XDA forums, because when I checked for other threads about PK, there were a couple from two years ago.
This is a brilliant game and it deserves to be highlighted on the front page regardless of the day it was launched.

DB - Its people like you that are making XDA what it is now, D-Bags like you....
As far as OP goes, I love this game been playing for a few months too......It's very addicting and constant changes and improvements to gameplay and strategy. The Devs are great at listening to the users and giving them what they want. One of the best parts about this game is it's multi-platform so you are playing with IPhone players as well so the vast amount of people playing is ridiculousness. I got the same name on the game as here so look me up.

LOL! D-Bags made XDA the efficent dev forum we know and love? And I'm one of those d-bags? Oh, I feel special.
As for pk, I played it about 2 years ago, lasted an entire month and a half with me playing seldomly. I'm no longer an active player, but it was a great time waster when there's nothing else to do.
Thats pretty neat
interesting...

Two years ago this game was more or like in its initial stages, but now it's been under developed for quite some time and has improved a lot.
I suggest that you give it another shot, you might get hooked on to it now.

Republique: Extremely promising game needs Kickstarter funding for an Android version

Game developer Camoflaj, led by Metal Gear Solid 4 producer and Halo 4 creative director Ryan Payton, are making an awesome new game for mobile, and they are using Kickstarter to fund it. Take a look (check out the video!):
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/486250632/republique-by-camouflaj-logan
It looks to be the first truly promising "real game" for mobile.
Sadly, the game is currently announced for iOS only, but I backed it anyway. I noticed many backers in the comments asking for an Android version, so I emailed Ryan asking about it. Here's what he had to say:
"Thanks for the AWESOME email. I totally hear you regarding Android.
We definitely want the game on Android, it's just a matter of funding and resources for us. If funding goes well, it'll be a natural step for us to do an Android version. I sincerely want you to be able to play this game.
Thanks for writing in, my friend.
-rp"
So, if Android fans back this game and indicate that they want an Android version on day 1 in the project's comment section on Kickstarter, we will guarantee that this extremely promising game comes to Android.
This will also send a strong message that Android users are serious about games and are willing to pay good money for great games.

No offence m8 ...... i can tell that your all puppy pissing it's self excited about this revolutionary game.
But your talking garbage when you claim
"we will guarantee that this extremely promising game comes to Android."
The quote you posted from the developers DOES NOT say anything of the sort, all it makes is an extremely vague 'Aspiration' to bring the game to Android ........ to anyone with any real experience of corporate doublespeak all it actually says is 'if, maybe, could, we would like to'. Their concept blurb says NOTHING about Android at all
Also your title is completely misleading ....... the entire concept needs funding (which it won't get) just to bootstrap the iOS version, never mind Android. Pledging money at this stage gives not even the vaguest suggestion of supporting development of an Android version
I'd also like to point out that devs with a track record like these guys have really shouldn't need to use distributed participatory funding sources as they should be able to go direct to big games publishers and get all the funding they needed ....... if the idea is any good. Only reason i can logically put forth for using this type of fan based funding is to avoid being under the thumb of a publisher .. but these guys have enough industry weight to negotiate a hands off development funding deal anyway ...........
Further i can understand gamers getting all 'am involved in the dev industry' excited about this type of proposal, kids get excited about all kinds of crap. But the minimum bonus pledge is about twice the cost of a top price Mobile game, am not even going to comment on how much it costs to get awarded a hoody or a signed piece of junk from the devs.
What i would like to know (but really can't be arsed to research, as i really don't care enough) is what happens to the pledges when this proposal fails to achieve its minimum funding requirement .........
I'll state right here right now no way will they make $500,000 ...... if they do i will add a banner to my sig that says something like "République developers kicked my ass please support this project it is of galactic significance" for 6 months or something.
Being positive it does sound like an interesting game concept, somewhat like a hifi next gen version of the old early 3D Amiga game interphase, and i definitely like the "non-sexualized female lead" concept, can't help the sneaking suspicion that "non-sexualized female lead" is pretty naive though game kiddies love tits and ass ... fact.
If you want to support developers then choose to support genuine up and coming indies who genuinely need the support as they do not have a track record that can delivery serious industry funding.

[Help] What Happened to Link?

Link, you know the green fairy boy of legend? The Hero of Time, and the wielder of the Bane of Evil. If not Click Here. So I'm having this debate, it's been a debate I've had for the past 5 years or so. What happened to link after the Ocarina of Time? He beats Gannon, and Navi leaves him. Link then sets out on a quest to find his only true friend. [Warning this is my POV from lots of Googles] After link leaves Hyrule, he decides to find Navi in the only place that would make sense, the Lost Woods. Link not being a Kokiri, or having a fairy can't find his way in the woods. Legend has it that Kids, and Adults who venture into the woods turn into either Skull Kids. Or they turn into those Skeleton Knights. Now this is the most accepted tid bit of information. Here is my weird theory.
After going into the Lost Woods, link spends for ever aimlessly wondering the woods, looking for Navi. After being lost for what feels like years. He comes across the Skull Kid. The skull kid hits Link over the head, causing him to die (This is also symbolic of life setting in. He's a Skull Kid, but has no clue of it) . But link is sent into purgatory, having no clue he is dead. That's when he chases Skull Kid into the cave. Upon reaching the cave, he falls. Seeing images from his past, present, and future. This is kinda like his soul being decoded in order to make his purgatory. So he is later cursed, and changed into a Deku. Why? That's him being able to relive his life as a week, defenseless "Child". Since he was pretty much reborn, he's given the one thing he's spent his whole life looking for. A fairy, but it's not his tho. So the story progresses, and he meets the mask salesman. He's kinda like that guy in American Dad who gives you IceCream right before he says your dead. But it being link, he wants a flipping quest. So he has to venture and find Skull Kid in order to become human. In Order to find Navi. Navi can be seen as his "heaven" if you would. He needs to do one final quest get the peace he's wanted. So as he leaves the building, you see almost all the characters in the town are from Hyrule. It's the only thing he knows, the people of Hyrule. All the lives he's saved, he needs to save again to find eternal peace. So that's it, for the weird theory. Here's side info to make more sense of this.
The Goron is a representation of being a powerful leader, and his connection to Sarah.
The Zora is him as a teen, falling in love. His guitar is Navi/Quest that he choice over Zelda.
The game has a darker feeling in it. It's link being able to live real life, and not just battling evil. He helps to lovers get together, he dances. He makes deeper relationships with characters, and has a chance to live a normal life. Once he helps out all the people, and obtains the mask (makers proving he lived his life). He can battle the Skull Kid, and can also receive the Fierce Deity's Mask once you get all the mask. A part I find weird is that the kid wearing the Evil mask is giving you this tool. The ultimate mask that makes you a full blown adult, with god like powers. This can be seen as link doing everything possible live his life. Now he has the power to defeat the mask, and go to his "heaven".
Once Skull Kid is free, and you saved the world. Your off to venture for Navi. The one thing you've always wanted to do. The one thing that made you feel alive again. I feel like link is stuck in this purgatory trying yo find his only friend. Refusing the fact that he's finally dead, and free to go away.
Any Ideas?
Haha whoaa.. did not see it like that.. makes sense. Wish I had some input to contribute :sly:

Hyperbounce - new app by 2 highschool kids

That's right. 2 highschool kids, bored out of their minds. 2 years of Java, C#, and gave development courses, lots of RedBull and 2am nights later and HyperBounce was born in a room in Bellevue Washington. Mainly inspired by flappy bird, HyperBounce adopts its simplicity and pick up and play aspects, but adds its a very high amount of frustration and addictive nature to the game. Our highschool loves it, will you? Lots of work and dedication was put into this game, give it a look. It might just be the next big thing. Find it on the google app store, HyperBounce. Beat 100, we know you wont be able to....
were gonna be putting out constant updates and it will come to IOS soon!
We have a working leaderboard - anyone who manages to beat 500 will get a special prize..
reply with a screenshot of 500 points and you will be awarded!
THANK YOU AND LOTS OF LOVE FROM RICK AND JAKE!!!
I AM NOT A NEW USER SO I CANT POST LINKS - GO ON THE GOOGLE APP STORE AND LOOK UP
"HYPERBOUNCE" IT WILL BE THE FIRST APP!!!!
