[Q] Who can give me a list of top 5 Forums for Android Developers? - General Questions and Answers

I know XDA is the best. But can anybody give me a list of other 5 top forums for Android developer?
Thank you very much!

Also droidforums.com is good
November/December will my HTC One M8 arrive !

Honestly you will get bored of other forum.
You can't find forum better than XDA I bet
Check the app development forum and many forum section of xda.
You may find which you are looking for.

I agree, I'm also on droidforums and it's messy on droidforums just like androidforums.com and android central are.

Mod request

Hey my friend pointed out that they split the themes and apps section into two separate ones on the epic forums. I think that would be appreciated here also
Here's a link to that thread

Yes, this was done in the epic 4g forums. IMO its much cleaner, I know, atleast with the epic, there is about just as many apps as there is themes so it gets awfully cluttered and gets difficult to find thing.

Bump? Seriously 120 views and only 2 people who agree, are we the only ones who wonder why it's one category to begin with?

They are trying something similar with sgs2 development forums. I definitely think it would help clean things up and hopefully stop a few needless questions

To be honest I am nit sure why there is an apps section for every device anyway. We have an android app section that I beleice should hold all the android apps. Mostly due to them being universal with the exception of a small few. It is being looked into
Great request. And yes, it can get cluttered.

Skyrocket Section Etiquette

ok so this is to help keep the peace i am posting this on top of the forum rules they may overlap or intersect. My goal here is to help keep down on the issues of repeat threads, wrong sections, trolling, and any other hijinx that comes here.
1. SEARCH
yes sometimes its hard especially on your phone with taptalk because we all know how that works. Solution: Try using google search using keywords such as xda, skyrocket, and whatever your issues is this always works for me.
If your on a computer use xda's built in search tool or google as i stated above.
I personally promise 90% of all issues can be found on the web with answers if you just take a few minutes to search
2. IF ITS A QUESTION IT BELONGS IN Q&A
It does not matter what the question pertains to it is a question and belongs in Q&A i have reported tons of these here recently having them moved. i know you think that its a general question but no it belongs in Q&A ok.
3. READ
This one is kinda broad for a reason here we go
If you ask a question within a thread at least have the decency to read the last few pages to see if anything comes up that may answer your question im not talking the whole thread but maybe 3 or so pages. The reason for this is that i have seen alot of threads where people have a question answered then not 2 or 3 posts later the same question comes up. This leads to cluttering of the thread making it much harder for others to find information.
This also goes along with wanting to make a thread look at like 3 pages of threads to make sure you dont have a reapeat post this thing happens alot again it comes from lack of attention.
4. TROLLING/FLAMING
This ones a big one and im a massive perp for this and will be the first to admit it.
We need to stop the trolling its just getting worse and not fixing anything yes its hard to ignore especially for us old timers but we need to set the standard now this forum is too big for us to be going on like we have been.
Solution: squash the issues by reporting if you wanna report multiple times fine get your buddies to report fine but lets stop the hate i personally am working on this as well.
i know you guys are gonna ignore this and whatever but my hope is the message gets across to you guys and makes this section a more peaceful place for all
wanted to thank you for posting this even though most of it should be common sense but i only got 8 thanks per day

that would be a good idea considering the amount of people we've got in the community
I'll do my best to help in this. I'd love to see the old XDA again.
This should just get pinned

You might mention in the OP that the best way to Google search the forums in to prefix the search with:
site:forum.xda-developers.com
So to search for 'skyrocket ics update' within the xda forums only would be:
site:forum.xda-developers.com skyrocket ics update
Also you could add links to the existing threads stickied in Dev. We all know their stickied for a reason, but many people overlook them and head straight for the new thread button
If you are going to help somebody, have the courtesy to check back on the thread so you know they are in the right direction.

forget pinning it.. this should be the first thing you see in like, 48 point font, obnoxious colors, when you open the forum.

Is there a forum for clones?

I'm just curious if there is forum for clone phones and tablets? I'm shocked there isn't one. Can xda start one if there isn't one?

There isn't one because there are a huge range of clones and very few developers interested in them

that's a shame. oh well. could we start one? I now many of the clones use android OS

Looking for dual boot options

In currently working with beergang and am looking for the most feature rich ROM/ is I can dual boot with. Can't flash ubuntu yet. Firefox hardly works. What else is out there. Same for my N7 2013. Just want something to change. Lol. Thanks

Hi,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571011.
Just go into the development forums and pick a rom that suits your needs. Read the stickies, first post and also do not post questions in the General forum. There's a section designed for that so general doesn't get filled up with unnecessary threads.

We have a development section filled with different ROMs. Read up, make your own decision.

Why members in xda ignore hard questions

I find no help to the ones who are really want it and everyone answers to simple questions like which should be my next phone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
That's because the questions of recommending phones or kernels or even ROMs are not allowed in xda. Sorry Mate!
Better luck next time!

What Arnau said plus many times people don't want to look stupid on forums with as much brainpower and expertise as on the XDA forum. Some of the most brilliant people hang out here and obviously if you don't know what you're talking about, to try and bluff your way through may work on some forums, but not here.
As you visit more often, look for some of the gurus, follow their threads, Thank Them and if they help you, contribute. That might really help you get the answers you need. Good luck.
XDA is not a support site, it is a site for and about developers and development, soooo, I suggest, if you are in fact looking for support, use search here, or go elsewhere.
Meanwhile, development still occurs here at XDA.
