HTC One E8 Dual Sim Chinese Apps - HTC One E8

I'm about to buy this phone from China, is there any crapware, bloatware from China in the phone?
If there is, how could I remove?
The way I know, would be rooting the phone and uninstalling the bloatware one by one.
Any ideas?

Yes, plenty of bloatware, even with my "tampered" ROM that was shipped with the phone from Hong Kong. As the previous poster said, you can go into Settings -> Apps and start cutting left and right, but most probably you will just have to Disable, Clear Data, Clear Cache and uncheck the notifications for most of them. Oh and one more thing: on top of the bloatware think about the Chinese Blinkfeed...
After just having installed Dr. Oweida's ROM, I can honestly say that is the best way to do it.
Cheers! :victory:

Extra Vodafone crapware being deployed

A Vodafone customised version of Android Market has just been silently pushed to my Sensation.
"My Apps" tab has been replaced by "Vodafone" - a list of vodafone apps and other recommended apps.
I do not want this crap - I was just about happy, putting up with the minimal branding as it existed. Now I need to be able to flash a generic ROM again.
What region?
I just noticed something like this, but after a reboot it disappeared (please note that I have fast boot deactivated).
I'm in the UK.
welcome to the club, TMO has i think 8 apps/links that are completely useless, and 3 or 4 are ALWAYS running, chewing up the ram
and im still on stock out of box OS version :/

You're right. I just rebooted and it returned to normal. What are they up to?
My unbranded UK Sensation has a HTC button in place of the normal My Apps. I find it a tad annoying, as I'm used to clicking that button to check what updates I have available.

What market version is it? Mine is 2.3.4 but i saw on the Vodafone forum about this this morning.
Mine is also 2.3.4 now, but I didn't check it at the time, before the problem went away on reboot.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
from what i know its not crapware just an extra channel with apps reduced or free. It makes sense that if this takes off then there will be no need to have all the bloat on your phone in future.
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/2011/07/04/vodafone-add-their-own-android-market-channel/
Really angry about this decision to hijack my Market app without consent. I prefer the much more useful "My Apps" tab not some link to crap 'partner's apps.
On unbranded you get HTC.
Freeze the stock market using temp root and then put an intended market on your phone using gapps.

As anybody else on vodafone uk notice the hidden vodafone rescue app start to install itself whenever debugging is on and you reboot? Even when you un-install it it will reinstall when you reboot.

I need a generic rom as well... I bought a sensation from ebay and love it but its vodafone rom and im using O2 and some things dont work right like mms

Can I root an unactivated phone?

I just purchased a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 yesterday. I haven't activated it yet, as I want to wait until I receive my Skinomi (for those who don't know what it is, it's a protective skin) before I take it out and about.
In the meantime, can I do all of the rooting without activating the phone, or does the SIM card need to be in there? I'm basically just wanting to run my phone without all of the stupid Verizon bloatware that I tolerated on my last Droid... I'm not that worried about custom ROMs or anything else.
One quick aside--when your phone is rooted, can you still get automatic updates, or do you need to do it manually?
Sewrizer said:
It shouldn't need to be activated, so you can make a go for it.
About updates, it only gets updates from the ROM developers, they are automatic(at least, in my case they were). You just check for the updates and if there is one available just tap and it starts.

I'm new to the rooting thing... does running CASUAL install a custom ROM, or does it just unlock the phone so that you can delete the bloatware?

How to REMOVE bloatware from your Galaxy S4

Hello all, while messing around trying to root some Chinise tablets I have been buying thu Aliexpress.com I came across this program callled MOBOROBO. It can be found at www.moborobo.com. It is a free program and I use it to manage all my android devices. I allows full management of almost any android device that I connect to my pc.
Just received my 32Gb S4. After finding out about the space issue and found out the 32GB was coming, I marched right in the ATT store and swapped. Had to pay the restocking fee but felt it was worth it. I have already rooted the phone and was thinking of disabling the bloatware while I wait for recovery ROM.
I just came home from work and connected my phone to the pc because while out today I decided to bite the bullet and took the OTA from ATT. Update went well, did not see any difference to nothing on phone except that it killed ROOT. I connected my phone and moborobo came up. I minimized it while I re-ROOT-ed my S4. I then went back to mess with moborobo to do a backup (I use it sometimes even though I have TiBU.) I then clicked on the apps tap at the top and noticed it listed all the apps on the phone. The was also a list of system apps. Went to the list and decided to uninstall some of the bloat. I figured maybe they won't be deleted, no prob if they don't I could then "disable".
To my surprise moborobo UNINSTALLED ALL the apps I threw at it. I was very cautious, I did not uninstall everything, only the ones I was sure of. Now I can always go back and do the others when I am sure I need to. Please check it out.
i just tried it and it works on att apps i just delete all this att crab.but this program doesn't know my phone name.

If your drivers are installed it will show your device name. While the program is running try disconnecting and reconnecting your phone. I have used it with my S4 (SGH-I337) my wife's S3 (SGH-I737) my older S2 (SGH-I777) and last night a friend came by with an S3 from t-mobile and when I connected it it came up (SGH-I339) I think. I don't have the most updated version of the program ( was not sure about keeping it) but mine starts up as soon as I connect my phone and sometimes it does not readily show my phone name.
Titanium Backup is my fave app to remove bloatware and back up all my apps and call history & text mssgs:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5rZXJhbWlkYXMuVGl0YW5pdW1CYWNrdXBQcm8iXQ..
ROM Toolbox is another good one and offers a lot of other features as well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5qcnVtbXkubGliZXJ0eS50b29sYm94cHJvIl0.
Both require root, of course.

I just deleted the AT&T apps along with yahoo and that yp stuff. Since I just got the phone I wanted to check out everything and decide what I want to get rid of. I read somewhere in this forum, someone posted a long list of all the apps including the Samsung ones. However I am going to be cautious so nothing gets messed up before we have some good ROMS coming from the great xda-developers kitchens. Some of the apps are not easy to identify from their apk, example: ATT navigator, the apk says telenav....apk.

I am with you on those apps being good apps, I am not sure however if TiBU actually remove the apps or just freeze them. I have used it to freeze apps the I could not delete or wish to return to at a later time.
In all of this though, one thing has come to my mind. Even if we remove all the bloatware, we still do not have more space because all of this reside in the special partition that we do not have access to until it is re-partition or allowed access in a recovery ROM. With all the removal that I have done I did not see an increase of space available. Going back to moborobo I can see that my system file list have been greatly reduced but my available space have not increased. I have therefore concluded that removing bloatware will only console me to the fact that all that junk is not on my phone. The 6.5Gb used for system files and bloatware is a partition that was set aside. I could be wrong on this so if necessary please teach me.
Yep, with Titanium backup you can either freeze or permanently uninstall any app or system app.
My S4 is still in FedEx' hands so I haven't had a chance to see the file system yet.
Speaking of FedEx. I'm in Austin, Texas. FedEx picked up the phone from AT&T in Ft Worth Texas. Now the tracking shows it is in Memphis, TN for some reason.

Yeah, returned the 16g ver for the 32g yesterday rooted that sucker using my new and improved S4-Chopper, rom toolbox uninstalling apps & backing it up using titanium pro then started tweaking it... I would suggest making a list delete 4 apps then back-up del 4 mo then back-up. That way you can get this monster the way you want it... mine is pumping out Slightly over 13000 on quadrant so im happy!!
It goes to Memphis because that is FedEx's main hub. So all packages go though there first

I accidentally deleted a system app. It was yellow pages so it's not a big deal but I would like to have it backed up with my other system apps. If I factory reset it will I get it back, or do I need to find a apk for it? Or would I have to go to the extreme and flash the stock TouchWiz rom

Memphis is FedEx's Hub. Everything goes through there, even when it means going from Texas to Memphis and back to Texas. The Postal Service does similarly if I mail a letter to someone in town. It goes to the regional hub (30 miles West from home and back to home.

Before rooting, any chance for Android L?

Was wondering whether or not there's a chance of us receiving any more updates before I root with towelroot. Was also wondering if I should take any safety precautions before rooting and then getting the xposed framework, because I am a noob when it comes to this but I have been doing some research about it in the past few months. I read online that I should do a backup of the software but I'm not sure whether I would be able to restore it since our bootloader is locked and everything. I'm on the latest stock on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (4.4.2 NE1). Thanks for all of the help in advance
No one's out there? :'(
I'd really doubt that we get any more updates. I rooted with Towelroot, deleted a bunch of bloat, and couldn't be happier with how my phone is running. It'll keep me going just fine until I decide what phone I want to go with next.

Backing up is always recommended, but honestly, I didn't. I did a search for apps that are safe to remove, read through those threads and blog posts, and went for it. I've had absolutely no problems and I stripped out a lot of bloat.
If you're nervous about removing something you shouldn't, pick up the pay version of Titanium Backup. That will allow you to freeze programs and then you can be sure they're not essential before removing them.

how to buy a rooted phone ?

is there a market for rooted phones ?
If not, any advice about how to find a rooted phone ?
IMO there is no phone with root access pre-built by default.

well, i would be happy with 2nd-hand market, etc but it sounds like it is not common either
Phone manufacturers doesn't do that by default because it will cause a lot of security issues, however you can go to any local phone shop and I assume that they can root your phone for free or maybe for very very cheap
Actually there's no reason to buy a rooted phone why not rooting a phone by yourself? it's quite easy, it doesn't require any experience
