[Q] PIN Change Error - Locked Out - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I was changing my PIN on my Samsung Note 3. After putting in the current PIN and then putting in the new PIN. I was prompted to confirm the PIN. The "settings app" was then forced closed. I returned to the PIN change setting but my current PIN nor the new PIN that I was trying to change to worked. I then restarted my phone and I'm completely locked out.
If the PIN was not changed due to the force close of 'settings' shouldn't the PIN be unchanged? I tried all PINs I've used in the past as well as 1111,0000,1234, last 4 digits of phone number, SSN... everything but still doesn't work.
Any suggestions? I don't want to factory reset the phone. Please help! Please!
------UPDATE-------
I found that using Google's Android Device Manager I can remotely change the PIN. I can see from the website and also on the phone that the password is changing. If I change from a numberic PIN to a text password, the password input keypad changes from number only to a full keyboard. So, i'm sure that the password was changed remotely. However, the temporary password that I recent using Android Device Manager still doesn't work!!!! Can anyone help?

Restarting a PPc without the pin code??

Is anyone aware of an application that can softreset a PPC phone and restart it without having to go thru the process of keying in your pin code each time??
In the same way that a cash point card could be used without a PIN code to withdraw cash?
Correct me if I am wrong, I think you may be looking at a hard reset.
I'm not sure if this is what your asking but it is possible to disable asking for a pin code. But when your phone gets lost or stolen everybody will be able to use your sim...
Anyway:
Settings -> Phone
Uncheck "Require PIN when phone is used"
What I am talking about is an app like SpriteBackup which can after backing up your device restart it and aquire a GSM signal without asking for the pin code.
actually, you would need a software that is able to do soft reset and key in the pin code. none so far, but there are software thaty can key in the pin code.. like phonealarm.
Thanks ,will check it out.
If you keep the phone in flight mode then it will not ask for the PIN when restarting.

Password protected, now won't unlock

Please don't lock this, I know it looks like I'm some douche who stole a phone, but check my post history first, I've had a Treo 750 for months.
Last night I decided since I used my mobile email address for bank info and such, I should password protect my phone. I'm running the unbranded WM6 rom, and used the factory password app.
I used an alphanumeric password. It worked flawlessly when I test ran by setting "Ask for password after ____ minutes" to "0".
I woke up today and tried to unlock and it will only accept my PIN. I'm fairly certain I never set a PIN, but I drink a lot. I tried 1111, 0000, last 4 social, last 4 of phone number, etc. No dice. It will only let me input numbers, not my alphanumeric password.
If anyone can get me to the point at which I can enter my lock password, that would be great, alternatively, the factory pin might still apply.
Thanks
If I'm correct this is a WM bug.
I set a PIN for locking the SPV M500 I once owned (WM5) and it had the same problem. A hard reset was my only option

Security pin question

Hi,
When I flash a new rom, does secruity pin reset? I can use my phone now which does not have any secruity pin set. I want to set secruity pin. When I try to set it on, it asks for old pin. I don't know what should I enter? Any hints?
Thanks.

Ur question is confusing me a bit. Which pin? Phone pin or phone lock pin?
If phone pin (in phone setting) the pin resides in ur SIM. If phone lock (in settings > personal > lock) it will reset after flash.

Samsung A177 Phone Lock - Forgot Password

I havn't used the phone in a long time, and I'm trying to sell it.
So I put my SIM Card in to delete everything on it, and it asked for a Phone Lock password. I don't remember setting a password. So how do I get past this?
Is there some sort of hard reset? Or a default code?
Thanks in advance.

PIN not working after restore

I have a bit of an issue after restoring my /data after doing the new November ruu update. It restored all of the fingerprint settings, but it keeps saying my pin is wrong. I had no issue with the pin before the update. I can get into my phone with my fingerprint, but obviously I can't change any of the security settings which is becoming a real drag. I'd rather not have to spend 5 hours backing up 30K+ texts and all of my other data and do a wipe. I tried this pin bypass zip file I found on a pretty old thread, but it must only work for older versions of Android. Anyone have something similar that works with 6.0?
I have done this a few times, setting up a phone, restoring etc, and once in a while this got me.
Default for Android is 4 digit pin, if you want longer you have to do a setting to get 7 digits lets say.
In the past I have punched in 12345 and it took that to unlock the phone, but in reality it was only taking 1234.
When restoring I did the same thing, only to find I really had the 4 digit pin.

I always had a 4 digit pin. The problem I'm having is that my pin was lost in the restore process. The pin that I was using before the backup and restore no longer works for some reason, but my fingerprint does
