Sorry I'm still using an old phone and didn't realize things have changed a little. Google is your friend.

Can't access from My Computer

I can't access the two drives that show up under My Computer when I plug in my captivate. I've one click rooted and Device Manager has:
Disk Drives:
Samsung SGH-I897 Card USB
Samsung SGH-I897 USB
Modems:
Samsung Andoird USB Modem
Portable Devices:
G:\
H:\
USB Controllers:
Samsung Android USB Composite Device
Am I supposed to have access to these drives?
Thanks,
JOe K.
You need to mount the drives, slide the top tray (notification area) down and you will see an option to mount the drives. do the same to unmount before disconnecting. Also make sure usb options are set to mass storage under settings->applications->usb
Should USB debugging be on?

I just plug usb end in to my pc running windows 7 and it auto detects, if that is what your asking! You might have to get the usb drivers from samsung site or google it.

When I plug my tab it, I get a "Connected as a Media Device" (or something along those lines) and my computer will automatically open/view the files on my tablet. If this doesn't happen, you can download Kies (software from Samsung to help install drivers and sync media) and that might help you.
Kies link: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/
USB mass storage mode is being phased out, if your in windows this is not a problem as the default "media transfer protocol" will work just the same for transferring files (albeit only one transfer at a time)but if you really must have USB mass storage, google is your friend.
usb working in ics
If you are asking for USB storage in tab then you should download nexus media importer from web.....
Your USB drive also should be on Fat32 format. Or tab will not know that USB drive is connected....
I know MTP is working, but my question concern the UMS (USB mass storage) protocol. After searching long time on internet, apparently, UMS will never work on tab under stock rom. Thanks but no solution.

[Q] USB mass storage mode?

Hi,
I have the OTA update 59 applied, unlocked bootloader and rooted. USB debugging is enabled. When I connect the Shield to my PC through USB, I cannot select another mode than MTP (the setting is greyed out). Is there a way to activate USB mass storage currently?
Cheers!
try this
Try this:

This should bring up developer menu

Please read carefully my question, what I'm after is "USB mass storage" not "USB debugging", which as I stated, is already turned on.

Do not try to do mass storage with the built in storage. Long story but it will cause more headaches than it's worth it, this is the sd media only.

Eject USB otg?

Plugged in a USB stick today in Stock CM11. Couldn't find a way to eject the USB afterwards. Does anyone know of the option? Usually it would be located under storage.

It should be in the storage settings, where it says "Unmount USB storage" or something along those lines.

Try using USB OTG Helper from the Play Store.

Under settings, storage, and Scroll down to the USB section. You will see unmount USB. Looking for better ways to do this, but have so far not had any luck.

Quite an old thread, but for your solution there, I don't have any USB section on it. It is just Internal Storage and SD Card. (CM12.1 on Zenfone 5)
Is there any other method that I can use? Thanks in advance.

not entirely sure, my phone shows a USB section, but only when a USB device is inserted. not sure why your device does not show the USB section. even more confusing when you are on CM12.1, same as my phone has.
sorry, can't help you on this one.
maybe look at the app in the comment above mine?
USB OTG Helper. if the description is accurate it could help.
Oh.. this app is actually to the point. Thanks
