I have supercid, soff, and twrp installed.. Is there a binary I can flash to gain root on a stock RUU 5.18 install?
There is a binary mentioned in the OP of this thread that might the trick. Definitely recommend doing a TWRP backup first. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423735
Just flash SuperSU through TWRP.

Ok, I'm confused. I have already rooted, S-OFF, Super CID, etc and updated to OTA 3.18. I need this OTA 'cause I've had NO LUCK with other ROMS where it concerns bluetooth. They all crackle and make listening to audio unbearable, so I'm stuck with stock. So, I updated RUU'd to 2.20 then OTA'd to 3.18, still have S-OFF, Super CID, unlocked, etc, flashed TWRP 2.3.3.1, but being told by SuperSU that it cannot write binaries and to check to see if I have root. I know one cannot attain root if not having been rooted prior to 3.18, but since I'm already S-OFF'd etc, can't I? Was installing SuperSU from the Play Store the wrong way to go about it and must I flash via TWRP for perms to take or somethin'? HALP.
Answered my own question. I had to flash SuperSU through recovery, duh :silly:
ok so I have a ATT one x phone that I just RUUed to 2.20. I am successfully unlocked and rooted, twrp is installed and I am ready to flash a custom ROM. right now I am S-on.
Can I accept the OTA to 3.18 without consequence? should I S-off and then update? I would like the new firmware and radio and then just flash a custom jellybean ROM, or I can just do it manually afterward.
I have no problem just applying anew ROM but if I can get the newest radio/firmware first it would just save a few steps.
Don't take the OTA, you can't install an OTA on a modified device. Plus, even if it did work it would undo all the work you've done. The best way to update your firmware is via the 3.18 RUU, but you must get s-off first or you'll brick. So get s-off then run the RUU. Don't worry about relocking your bootloader, that isn't required. Once you've run the RUU just flash TWRP again and you'll be good to flash a ROM.
Sent from my Evita.
S-off, Unlocked, Stock recovery. Just did the OTA. When it was finished went into SuperSU and am being told that there is no binary installed. Weak Sauce says I'm already rooted but I'm not. Even after OTA I'm still S-off and unlocked. Is this just a matter of flashing a different version of SuperSU over the current one I have installed? Current version of SuperSU I have is 1.94
Just reflash. And if you're s-off'd with SuperSU flashed, you don't need weaksauce anymore.

After attempting and failing s-off with Facepalm and Rumrunner as well as trying to get newer roms installed over the 4.2.2 rom
I had the S-on way.... had to do a factory reset because I could only get to the bootloader.
Now I have no ROM installed and can only get to bootloader and recovery. Device does show up under adb sideload and fastboot in the respective modes. cannot mount as a filesystem in TWRP for some reason
Not sure where to proceed from here to acheive s-off and get up to 4.4 aosp roms.
Do I need to update the firmware for any reason? Is there an old exploitable rom and Kernal that I can install that has good success with s-off? I'm just lost and frustrated so I'm asking for help.

I was in a similar situation a few days ago. In my case i couldn't boot into Android or recovery mode and the device was stuck in a reboot loop. I run RUU to reset everything to original factory settings. You have to relock your bootloader before you run RUU. It'll reset your root etc and you'll have to start from scratch. This link has the details:

If you're on Mac or Linux use this one:

Good luck.

Thanks! this Is what I was hoping would help me. Unfortunately I've discovered I do have super CID "11111111"
currently trying to find a fastboot only script that can S-off me which i'm not sure even exists. Or just a way to revert the cid to whatever the AT&T one is

There's no need to run an RUU at this stage. Just downgrade to TWRP 2.6 and you'll be able to use the 'mount usb storage' feature again to copy a ROM zip across. Use the Kickdroid ROM and try Rumrunner s-off again.
The last thing you wanna do is change your CID back, then you'll be totally screwed. Just do what I said above and you should be fine.

I managed to relock, run the 2.2 RUU, re-unlock and root again to get an unbricked stock phone. Facepalm didn't work so I'll give kickdroid and rumrunner a go.
EDIT: Kickdroid seems to require a firmware higher than the one I have to work which requires s-off for me to get without bricking. know of any older roms that are unsecure and rumrunner will work on?
Just got frustrated and did the RUU again. but this time I managed to get s-off! don't know what I did different this time but thanks to both of you!

Kickdroid only needs the newer firmware to stop signal loss problems and random reboots. You could have used it to get s-off. But you got it in the end!

Hello! I have searched around the forum and I can not find a stock (Sense 5) android 4.2.2 AT&T rom. If there is no flashable stock rom, should I RUU?
Here is my bootloader info:

When I do, I assume I will lose S-Off; should I keep my bootloader unlocked?
Becuase I rooted on Android 4.1.1 (3.18), can I RUU with the 3.18 instead (so i can root the stock rom)?
You won't lose s-off, no need to relock your bootloader. You can use any Evita RUU you want, and you can root any of them as long as you leave your bootloader unlocked, then you can install TWRP recovery again after the RUU, and use TWRP to install Superuser or SuperSU to get root again.

Ok Great! A few more questions. If I run the 5.18 RUU, will my bootloader be updated?
Like you said, after any RUU I should still be able to flash TWRP and then install SU to get root. Is it really that simple?

Your firmware will be updated, which includes your hboot (updated to 2.15). And yes, it's really that simple, as long as your bootloader is unlocked you can flash TWRP, and as long as you have TWRP you can get root.

If I make a TWRP backup of my current rom, will I be able to restore that rom (If i need to) after RUU and installing TWRP again?
Should I back up the boot partition with the rom backup, or just the data and system partitions?
